When I Was Your Man
Summary
After Karma and him split, Matt went back to what he knew best, drugs and lots of sex. Then Jimmy died, and Matt went to rehab. He decided not to put his life on the line anymore, wanted to pull himself together.
Karma Strikes was THE icon, the all-rounder, the modern day Madonna. Men wanted to be with her and women wanted to be like her. She'd always said she wanted to be famous. And then she was.
Brian got married, then Zack did, then Johnny. And Matt was just kind of... there. He missed her with every ounce of his heart. And he missed the band.
Is all hope lost or can he reform the band - and can he possibly get her back?

This is set right after the Hail to the King album. I know the guys took a break after that in real life but in my story they took it before.

(And Val, who of course is not Matt's wife in this story. I really like her so I'm glad I finally have a story where she's not the evil one...)

Characters
Karma
Karma seems to have it all - the money, the glamour, the fame. Seems to. Behind a perfect facade lays a broken soul who can't get out of something she foolishly agreed to.
Matt
An intelligent man with too much time on his hands, he tends to overthink. He doesn't think with his heart anymore. He misses Karma like crazy and can't get over the fact that he fucked up.
Sarah
Matt's ex girlfriend just can't seem to let go. She tried to ruin them back then and unfortunately, she succeeded. She wants Matt back and live her life as his luxury wife - at all costs.
The Guys
Zack, Johnny, Brian and Brooks all have families of their own. Ready to restart Avenged Sevenfold - on some conditions, for example the strict “don't fuck your bandmate” rule.
Val
Val is both Karma and Matt's best friend and helped them both get over each other - to a point. Now struggling with her own problems she's still here for them all the time - which they definitely need.
