The Wild Ride

Trois

The drive back to their house the next day was dreadful. While Emily hadn’t drunk nearly as much as Ang, her hangover was killer. Her head was pounding and the sunglasses that were shielding her eyes were doing absolutely nothing. The sisters decided to stop halfway through the drive to switch drivers. Emily needed more sleep, but first needed food in her system.

“There should be a diner coming up to the right.” Ang’s voice spoke softly over the light music that was playing in the background. Although she probably outdrank everyone they were with the night before, her hangover wasn’t as bad as she thought it’d be. Perhaps it was because she stuck to just one liquor... or maybe she was just really good at holding down her alcohol.

Their mid-afternoon lunch felt like it went in slow motion. Maybe it was just because they were both hungover and moving quickly only worsened it. Finally getting food in their stomachs, however, helped with their hangover. While it would still take the rest of the day to feel better and some more sleep, Emily no longer felt like she was dying.

Getting out of the diner and standing outside felt amazing. The fresh air did wonders to her recovering body but she’d rather be in her bed. Emily climbed into the passenger seat while Angelica took the driver’s side. Emily decided that it wouldn’t hurt to take a nap, seeing that Ang was wild awake and humming to the music that flowed through the speakers. Just as she was falling asleep, a buzzing came from her pocket. Fishing her phone out, she looked over the screen to see she had a text from Synfully Sexy. She couldn’t help but let a heartfelt laugh escape from her lips. While she knew that Brian had saved his number on her phone, she didn’t think to check what it was. Hell, she didn’t even know that he had texted himself from her phone.

“What’s so funny?” Ang’s voice appeared beside her. The younger sister’s eyes looked over her Emily’s face.

“Brian just texted me… look at what he saved his number under.” Emily chuckled as she turned her phone to show Angelica. Ang rolled her eyes and laughed, before turning her attention back to the road.

“He’s such a loser.” Angelica spoke up. “You would think he would have more game than texting you the next day.” Ang winked, knowing deep down that a guy would only do that if he was genuinely interested in a girl. It made her a bit jealous of her sister. Here she was texting the guy of her dreams while she was so drunk the night before that she was sure Zacky wouldn’t ever care for seeing her again.

B: Please tell me your hangover isn’t nearly as bad as mine. I’m too old to keep up with Johnny.

E: Oh, it was killer. But food did the trick. Can’t wait to get home and sleep it off.

B: Lucky you. I have a show tonight.
B: Wait, did you have to work today? I’m soo sorry for keeping you out until so late.

E: No, just driving home from the hotel. Well, Ang is. We live a little over three hours from Pittsburgh.

B: Oh. Where exactly is that?
B: If you don’t mind me asking.

E: Just outside Hershey.
E: It would’ve been a lot closer to go to your show in Philly but it was already sold out. /:

B: I could probably get you tickets if you were interested in coming.

E: I couldn’t ask you to do that for me.

B: Well, I did say I’d see you again soon.
B: Why not make that next week?
B: That is, of course, if you’re interested. Don’t wanna force you into doing anything you’re not comfortable with.

E: That’d be great.. as long as it’s not a hassle for you.

B: Oh please, it’s not a big deal. Should I count on Ang coming too?

E: Yeah, or else she’d probably kill me lol

B: Ok, sounds good. I’ll let Larry know and he’ll settle it with the Box Office :)

E: Thank you so much, you’re amazing.

B: Tell me something I don’t already know ;) I’ll see you next week then.

E: See ya next week! <3

Emily held her phone up to her chest as she turned in her seat to face her sister. “So clear your schedule for next Thursday. We’re gonna go see your beloved Zacky.” I smirked as she glared at me.

“Yeah right, Philly’s been sold out for months.” She mumbled.

“Well, the loser I was just talking to got US two tickets. And I’m sure there was a reason why he wanted to make sure you were coming too.” Em wiggled her eyebrows at her. “And I can tell you it’s probably not because of the other guys. Hell, Matt and Johnny’s wives were there. So that definitely rules them out.”

“Oh shut up.” Ang blushed, but Em could tell that her sister was excited. Emily remembered the way Zacky would just look at Ang, and he couldn’t blame her. While she was overly outgoing, she knew that Zacky was probably the shyest member of the band when it came to talking to girls. “You’re not joking, right? Cause that’d be a cruel prank.”

“Oh, I hope not.” Em frowned. “He said that he’d get everything settled with Larry but the tickets will be waiting for us at the Box Office.”

Brian groaned as he rolled out of his bunk. He hated how much sleeping on the bus sucked, but was still grateful that he no longer had to sleep on the van they did their first tour in. And a bus was definitely better than staying at a cheap motel. At least he knew where his sheets had been, and that no one was murdered in their bathroom.

Brian made his way over to the living area, flopping onto the couch. His head was killing him, having the mother of all hangovers. Maybe I shouldn’t have mixed all those shots, he groaned to himself as he placed his arm over his face. It was only when the couch dipped down beside him and the smell of caffeine hit his nostrils that he sat up again.

“Bro, you look like death.” Jimmy laughed next to him. It always amazed him that Jimmy could practically drink a whole liquor store and never get a hangover. Jimmy handed him the mug of coffee as he spoke up again. “So, who was that girl last night?” Brian took a gulp of his coffee, avoiding the subject for as long as he could.

“She was at the show last night. Man, I don’t know. There was something about her that caught my attention when we were on stage, and I couldn’t get her out of my head after the show. And then we ironically ran into her at the club after and I’m probably never gonna see her again but God do I wish I could cause she’s different than every other girl I’ve ever met. She was funny, man. And she liked our music but she didn’t treat us like we were Gods, she treated us like humans. And she didn’t even try to sleep with me just to say that she did. I feel like we don’t come across those often and I can’t get her out of my head and fuck!” Brian vented to the drummer. While Jimmy was always up for being silly and doing stupid things, he knew when his friends needed to open up. It was what made Jimmy so special. He was everyone’s best friend. You could trust him with your life and your deepest, darkest secrets.

“You’re right, those are hard to come across.” Jimmy ran his hand through his hair. “But would you want to pursue it? I mean, let’s be honest. She lives like twenty-five hundred miles away from you.” Jimmy scratched his chin. “But I mean, if you are truly interested in her, the distance shouldn’t matter. Isn’t there a song that says ‘A thousand miles seems pretty far but they’ve got planes and trains and cars’? If you truly think that she’s what you want, anything is possibly. You of all people should know that.” Brian nodded, taking a minute to respond.

“I should call her? See if she’s interested in getting to know each other? No point in driving myself crazy when I don’t even know if she’s as interested in me as I am in her.” Brian ran his hand over his face before chugging the rest of his coffee, making Jimmy laugh.

“If she’s up at this time, she’s probably hungover as shit too. Start with that. I can almost guarantee that she’s interest in you too, or else she wouldn’t have hung around us for as long as she did.” Jimmy smirked. “Oh, and tell Zacky next time a pretty girl is showing interest in him, to act on it instead of being shy.” Brian rolled his eyes and got up from the couch. He needed more sleep. This hangover thing wasn’t worth it anymore.

He made his way back to his bunk, grateful that everyone else was still asleep so there wouldn’t be any unnecessary noise on the bus. He dug around his bunk until he found his phone, a groan leaving his lips when the brightness was turn up all the way and illuminated his face. He went to his most recent calls, having called his phone from hers when he added his number onto her device. He saved her number onto his contacts and then opened a fresh text to message her.

The conversation with her was quick. It was hard for him to not be the cocky asshole he usually was around girls when he talked to her. He didn’t want to treat her like she was just another girl. He was hoping to make this thing work with her, and he needed to make sure that she knew he was serious. He needed more sleep, and he knew she did too. And maybe that’s why he thought it’d be a perfect idea to invite her to their show in Philly without running it passed Larry first. Fuck, Larry was going to rip his head off. But hopefully he’d have Zacky on his side. He knew Zacky wanted to see the blonde again, just as much as Brian wanted to see the redhead. Maybe this would work. Being that they were sisters and he would have someone on the same boat as him. Even if Zacky no longer believed in love, Brian knew that it was all a front. He could tell just by the way he was looking at Ang. Yeah, this could work. And with that, he fell back asleep.

I can't quite understand if I'm hooked on the story or not, but you definitely had caught my interest. Lately I'm looking for those kinda realistic stories that could happen if you're born in the shirt which Lady Luck herself knitted.
This is good, love to see what happens next. :)
