Living Life As Unconventional As Possible

Saige’s POV

The last few weeks seemed to fly right by and that meant less time I had to wait to see Matt again. I had my latest doctor’s appointment and ultrasound and everything is going great with the baby so far.

I turned on the T.V. in the living and got comfy on the couch and decided it was good time to give Matt a call. I scrolled through my contacts and dialed Matt’s number. It did not take long for him to pick up.

“Hey Saige, how are you doing?”

“It’s so nice to finally hear your voice and I’m doing as good as I can.” I ran my hand over my ever-expanding belly. I could not wait to tell Matt the sex of the baby but I would have to wait just one more month.

“I’m happy you’re doing alright. How did the doctor’s appointment and ultrasound go?” I could tell by Matt’s voice that he was anxious to hear any news.

“Everything went great! Nicole was able to come with me but I wish you could have been there.” I wanted to be honest with Matt and not sugar coat anything especially how I was feeling.

“Fuck I know baby I wish I could have been there but at least you were not alone. How’s the baby’s room coming along?”

“Your right. The baby’s room is coming along nicely and your dad came over the other day and did all the painting for me which I was so thankful for. I just need to set it up a bit more and it will be all ready.” I smiled and thought about how much nesting I had been doing even though the baby would not be arriving for another two and half months.

“I’ll have to call him later and thank him as well for helping us out. So what else is new darling? How’s the novel coming along?”

“Not too much is new and the book is really coming along as well. Since it is so quiet around the house I have been able to get so much work done even though this pregnancy is proving to be exhausting.” I let out a small laugh and I always tried to make light of how I was feeling. It was also so nice to hear how curious Matt was about my writing.

“I’m glad you’re able to get work done. Thanks for calling baby it was so nice to hear your voice but I got to go we are going on stage soon. Love you.”

“Thanks for taking the time out for me. Love you too. Have a good show.” I smiled and then I heard Matt hang up the phone.

I then heard the doorbell ring and I wondered who was visiting me since I was not expecting anyone. I walked as fast as my body would allow me to these days and opened the door. I smiled when I saw Nicole but was not as happy to see my old friend Sophie.

“Saige!!” Sophie gave me a hug and it felt weird seeing her after all these months and I have not seen her since Matt and I got together.

“Hey Sophie.” I gave her a hug back and then I gave Nicole a hug. I then heard Nicole whisper in my ear. I had to stay nice even it felt weird but I’d get through like everything else in life.

I then shut the front door and let Sophie and Nicole inside. “Woah Saige, you have truly made your mark on here.”

“Well Matt and I decided to do some redesigning to make the place feel like ours. Especially with the baby’s room which is almost finished.” I smiled thinking about the house being Matts and mine and as I looked over at Sophie I could tell she was jealous but I pushed that aside for now.

“That’s awesome. Can you show us the baby’s room?”

“Yeah sure.” Nicole had already seen my work in progress with the baby’s room but now that it was almost done she would see a difference.

I walked up stairs with Nicole and Sophie in behind me and once we reached the baby’s room which was just down the hall from the master bedroom, which Matt and I shared. I turned on the light and I heard both ladies gasp.

“Saige the room looks stunning!” Nicole smiled over at me and she wrapped an arm around my shoulders. “Matt is going to love this.”

“I was thankful he put all the furniture together before he left for tour. But I really hope he likes it now that it’s pretty much done.” I smiled and felt tears come to my eyes.

Sophie was busy looking around the room so I quickly wiped my tears and tried to keep myself composed.

“I agree with Nicole. This is one nice room for the baby Saige. Is the baby a girl or boy?” She looked over at me.

“I’m keeping that a surprise for now until Matt comes home. I want him the first to know since has been there since the beginning and was there when Benji gave me hell.”

“I respect that. So, how’s Matt these days?”

“He’s good and he is really looking forward to being a dad. He’s on tour right now but he will be home in a month.”

“I’m glad to hear that. I haven’t seen him in ages and I did not even know you guys were together until Nicole mentioned it.”

I felt embarrassed when Sophie brought up not knowing about my relationship with Matt. “I’m sorry Sophie I have just been so busy with my new book and the everything it slipped my mind to tell you.”

I led the ladies out of the baby’s room and turned off the lights and I felt tenser around Sophie and I knew Nicole could tell.

“I understand that.” When the words left her mouth, I did not believe them but I just had to for now. I did not want to make a scene since Nicole was around and I did not want my pregnancy hormones to get in the way.

We hung out in the living room and sat down the couch and engaged in small talk but I really felt things between Sophie and I were not the same anymore. She dated Matt after I left for LA and they dated for a few years. But from Matt told me she treated him like shit and made everything about her. She did help Nicole set up my house but I feel like she did that out pity for how things ended up with Benji.

“Well it was nice seeing you Saige and Nicole but I need to get going.” I slowly got off the couch and she gave me a hug and I was glad she decided to leave. I knew I was making her as welcome as I should but it’s not like we were all that close anymore.

“Do you need a ride home?” Nicole offered.

“No that’s ok.” I walked her to the front door and watched her leave and shut the door behind me. I walked back to the living room to sit back down with my sister.

“I am glad she’s gone.” I sighed and looked over at Nicole. “That was so tense.”

“Yeah I know right. I’m surprised you lasted that long in her company without getting pissed off.” She grinned and let out a small laugh.

“I don’t want to cause any problems but I feel like she is definitely jealous that Matt and I are together and living together.” I always tried not to be jealous of others but Sophie’s jealousy was just so obvious.

“I tried to ignore but then she just shows up at my house and I’m happy Jimmy is not here right now. He can’t stand her especially after how she treated Matt. I did not know what to do and I’m sorry about that Saige. I should have stood my ground with her.”

“It’s not your fault Nic. Sophie is crazy bitch and if I was in your position I’m not sure I could stay no either. Hopefully she will stay away.”

“Yeah I hope so too.” We then put any thoughts of Sophie away and enjoyed our sister time.

I then felt the baby kick and I grabbed Nicole’s hand. “Did you feel the baby?”

“Oh, my god! That’s so cool.” I grinned at my younger sister’s reaction.

“When I first felt, the baby move it was an interesting experience to stay the least.” I smiled and I am happy I have an amazing support group. I will always consider the band my family and the baby will be well loved by everyone. My parents had passed when me and Nicole were quite young so our aunt and uncle raised us. But it was hard knowing they would not see how happy I was and especially now. But they will always be in my memory and I knew that was the same for Nicole.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out and Nicole offered to stay with me for the next week since she needed a break from her workaholic ways. It was nice to have some company around the house and she helped me put the finishing touches on the baby’s room. It was now all ready for Matt to see once he was home. She also helped me do some of the cleaning that was becoming harder now that I am further along in my pregnancy.

I enjoyed all the time that Nicole took out to spend with me and I was happy her and Jimmy got together when they did. They were meant for each other and I could not wait until they got married. She was supporting a beautiful engagement ring that Jimmy gave her before they left for tour. I was so happy for her and she felt the same about Matt and I even though she was a bit hard on me in the beginning.

Nicole gave me a hug and kiss on the cheek. “Thanks for helping me relax and take a much-needed break from work.”

“Your welcome Nic and I appreciate you staying with me. See you later.” I smiled and watched her leave. I was glad I had a such a great sister even though we both could a hard on each other from time to time. We made plans to have a spa day before the guys came back to California and I wanted to be refreshed as I could be for Matt.
