Fallen

chapter twenty two

Everything was really falling into place. Matt and I had officially been a couple for three weeks, Avenged Sevenfold dropped their newest single “The Stage”, and for once in his life, Carson wasn’t getting in trouble in school! Things were falling into place at work and we didn’t have to do nearly as much overtime. As much as my paychecks missed the extra money, being back to full-staffing made my other job, being a mother, so much easier.

With the onset of our official, new, relationship, Matt and I had discussed some ground rules. We had been spending a lot of time together for the past almost seven months, really since we met each other. As much as we wanted to be together, ripping each others clothes off and exploring a relationship like we were sixteen-year-olds once again, we had to be parents. We both had to be here for our sons, and made sure that they felt loved and appreciated. Neither Matt, nor I, wanted our children to feel as if they were put on the back burner, like they were second best. That being said, we made sure that we spent time apart. We still did our Wednesday playdates for the young-ins, and tried to spend Sunday evenings together. Other than that, Matt and I spent some days and nights apart. If my mom, or Val, took Carson and Matt didn’t have the boys, we’d spend the evenings together for date night and then some.

Our children weren’t the only reason as to why we wanted to decrease the amount of time we relied on each other. Our relationship was going to be put to the test come the beginning of November, when Matt and his bandmates would be going back on tour for a couple weeks. He would be home for Thanksgiving, then they would be in Europe for two weeks before he was home for Christmas again. I hadn’t thought about the fact that he would have to go back on tour, especially with the new album coming out in a couple weeks. It was probably going to suck, but we would cross that bridge when we got there. Luckily, I would have Val and my newfound friends of Meaghan and Lacey to help me through it.

“Oh, Aiden, please pay attention to the stove before you turn those noodles into mush,” my mother’s voice filled my head, pushing the thought of Matt leaving to the back of my mind. I felt a ping in my heart as she called me by my first name, something I didn’t hear often. “Better yet, let me finish them. I was the one making dinner, after all.”

I moved away from the stove and let her take over, watching her pull a piece of linguine out of the pot and checking it for firmness. A frown fell on her face as she quickly reduced the heat and pulled the pot from the stove, allowing the pot of sauce to sit in the noodles place. I guess I had cooked them too long as I zoned out.

“Sorry, mom. I don’t know where my head was,” I smiled at her, trying to bring down her annoyance. “What would I do without you?”

She laughed as she strained the pasta, shaking a wooden spoon in my direction. “Sometimes I really do not know. Can you pull the chicken from the oven? Try to remember to use an oven-mitt this time. You do not need to burn all of your fingers once again.”

I rolled my eyes as I laughed, turning the oven off and slipping a mitt on my hand. “That was one time. Many, many, years ago. Will you ever let me live that down?”

“The only good thing that came out of you never using protection was Carson,” she laughed, causing a smile to break out on my face. She wasn’t exactly the happiest when I had come to her years ago about being pregnant, but she was supportive of my decision to keep Car. As much as she didn’t want to admit that she was old enough to be a grandmother, she loved being his GiGi. “Don't you dare set that down on the bare table! Pull each piece of chicken off and place them on the plates. You will burn the table with that pyrex dish!”

“Yes, mother," I said loudly and did as she asked. I glanced over at her as she finished fixing the salad, “Should I go ahead and set the linguine out as well? Is your sauce done? Don’t overcook it. You wouldn't want it to turn to paste.”

My mom threw her head back in laughter, “I wonder where you get that smart-ass mouth from.” She went to the stove and checked on the sauce, then looked over at me, “I am going to go get Carson up from his nap. Finish setting the plates with the food.”

I nodded in response and grabbed the noodles and sauce, fixing each plate around the table with their own perfect amount of each. I then grabbed the big salad bowl and moved the content into each small bowl around the table. As I was finishing up and putting away the dirty cooking dishes, not wanting to show off a filthy kitchen, I smiled to myself. I remembered when I used to go to my grandmothers and she would set the table, plates already made, for her guests. Tonight we were having chicken parmesan for all of the boys of Avenged Sevenfold. I had called my mom over to help me cook for five men, and also to get Carson out of my hair for the evening.

“That looks delicious,” Matt’s deep voice broke the white noise of the sink running as I washed dishes.

I dried my hands off and turned to look at him, a smile plastered on his face causing mine to break out in the same formation, “I wish I could take credit for it. I tried my hardest, but my mom practically kicked me out of my own kitchen.”

He laughed lightly, “I was talking about you, but the food looks great too.” He took a few strides across the kitchen, coming over to me and wrapping his arms around my waist. A kiss was pressed to my lips lightly, his eyes looking down at mine, “I’ve missed you.”

I rolled my eyes, playfully, and pulled his lips back down to mine, “It’s been two days, babe.”

He smirked against my lips, kissing them softly again then moving his toward my neck. “Alright, let me put it differently. I miss you, naked, looking up at me while I’m fuc…”

“Hello, Matthew,” my mother’s voice caused Matt to pull his lips from my skin. He stood awkwardly, turning toward my mom and scratching the back of his neck, his dimples sinking into his cheeks. Both of us had to be as crimson as red delicious apples. Carson was standing next to her, wiping the sleepies from his eyes.

Matt chewed on his bottom lip, “How much of that did you hear?”

“Enough,” my mother shook her head. “I’m going to take off with the little guy. Enjoy your dinner with your bandmates, and my daughter looking up at you while you…”

“Mom!” My eyes widened and I stepped forward. I wrapped my arms around my son, “Bye, baby. Be good for GiGi. I will see you tomorrow after school, okay?”

“Yes, Momma,” Carson replied, tiredly. He was obviously not yet fully awake from his nap. “Remember you promised mac and cheese for dinner!”

I laughed and kissed his forehead, “I know, baby. We will have it tomorrow night. I’ve got it all ready to be made just for you. But you gotta be good all night and day in order to get it. Remember?”

Carson nodded, “I remember. See you tomorrow. Bye, Matty!”

“Bye, bud,” Matt spoke from behind me, reaching down to ruffle Carson’s curls before I let go of my son.

We bid farewell to my mom as she grabbed Carson, leading him out the house and toward her car. As soon as they pulled out of the driveway, I turned and smacked Matt in the chest, threatening him to watch his mouth with my mother around. I knew this story would come out of her mouth at some upcoming family event. She would just need to let everyone know that she walked in on Matt talking dirty to me. It wouldn’t be my mother if she didn’t do exactly that.

“How was I supposed to know that she was directly behind us?” Matt laughed as he opened the front door, his bandmates piling into my foyer. “She was ninja stealthy. All quiet like that!”

I shook my head, “She’s my mother. She will find anything to hold against me or embarrass me with! You have to watch your mouth if she’s within a file-mile radius. Let alone in the same house as us! You just wait. She’s going to ensure that all of my aunts hear what you said to me. Then they’ll bring it up around the adults table at Thanksgiving.”

“She will not,” Matt laughed in disbelief.

I scoffed, “Oh, yes she will. Do you want to take a bet on this?”

Matt nodded his head, “What are we betting?” As I pursed my lips in thought, he smirked deviously, “Do you know that I’m thinking?”

I tried my hardest to try not to smirk back at him, but I couldn’t stop the expression from creeping onto my face. I knew exactly what he was thinking. My mom offered to watch Carson the entire weekend from Thanksgiving evening until the following Monday so that Matt and I could have time together since he’d be home from tour. He was going to be spending Black Friday with the boys, but Saturday was all for us. Loser was going to have to be the winners sex slave. We had been talking about sexual fantasies, and found out that we both were into trying similar things. We just needed time where we didn’t have the kids.

I wiggled my eyebrows at him, “Better buy rope.”

“I always thought you’d be a freak,” Brian’s voice sounded in the room. Matt and I both turned our vision to see that Zack had led Brooks and Johnny into the kitchen. Brian had stayed behind, obviously listening to our conversation, “The offer still stands if you’d like a third person.”

“We wouldn’t,” I smiled at the brown-eyed man. We had been on a friendlier level lately, and he hadn’t been as much of a pig as before. Still, I couldn’t help but feel like he was constantly undressing me with his eyes, or that he wouldn’t try to hit on me when Matt turned his back. “We should really go join the other three before food gets cold. It won’t be nearly as delicious if you have to heat it up.”

I glanced at Matt who was staring at his bandmate with a slightly tightened jaw. I raised an eyebrow at him, unsure about what his expression meant. He laced his hands together and looked at me, “Go ahead, Liv. I want to talk to Bri real quick and then we’ll be right there.”

I nodded and headed toward the kitchen, smiling in Brooks direction when he noticed me walk into the room. I took a seat at the table and greeted the three men once again, telling them to go ahead and start eating. It took Matt and Brian about five minutes before joining us at the table. Matt’s jaw was still slightly tight when he took a seat next to me, resting his hand on my thigh. Brian’s usual smirk was wiped off his face as he picked up his fork and started eating. As the men made small-talk with me and amongst one another regarding their album, I took a few chances to look over at Matt. He seemed to lighten up a bit throughout dinner, but I made a mental note to talk to him afterwards.

“Liv, that was absolutely incredible. Thank you for having us over and letting us get away from everything,” Zack exhaled smoke as we sat on my back porch. A beer sat in his right hand as he smoked with his left, “I’m really glad you and Sanders found each other.”

“Me too,” I smiled, mostly to myself, as I let my eyes wander over to the sliding glass door. Matt stood inside a beer in his hand as he laughed with Brooks and Brian. Johnny had already left for the night, needing to get back home. “He’s really great.”

“What are you talking about?” The back door opened and Matt poked his head out before stepping outside, his bandmates following behind him.

“You,” Zack replied with a laugh. “I don’t know how you landed yourself such a catch, dude.”

Matt shrugged his shoulders, “If we’re being honest. I don’t know either.” I smiled at him as he set his beer down and walked over to me, scooping me off the outdoor furniture and into his arms bridal-style. “But, if you guys wouldn’t mind heading home; I’d like to spend some time loving up on my woman. Alone.” His eyes flickered over to Brian at the word alone, then he kissed my cheek and carried me into the house.

Notes

Wow, don't I suck at updates.
I'm hoping to crack another out this week!

So, seems like Matt may have finally had a conversation with his friend about Liv.
Tour is coming up... I wonder what that means for those two?
Who loves Liv's mom?

Feedback is AWESOME.
