When Stars Align

Over You

Morning rolled around and Sadie was pulling on her running shoes, this place had great trails. Tossing a hoodie over her head she headed out and down the hall, making her way out she plugged in her headphones and jogged down the trail.
This allowed her to just get away from everything and everyone, just her, nature and whatever the hell this was on her iPod, what was this anyway? She started jogging in place pulling it out

“Avenged Sevenfold?”

Her trainer must have put it on there, he’s all about using angry music during weight lifting. This was something about Beast and the Harlot, this wasn’t her kind of music but she left it and took off down the trail the mans voice still in her ear.
Matt made his way down the trail he didn’t like running, but there was no cardio machine around here, so running it was. It wound down to the bottom of the hill the lodge sat upon and back up, coming around a corner a small figure sat on the edge clutching her ankle.

“Sadie? You alright?”

She sat taking deep breaths
“I rolled my ankle…again.”

“Again?”

“I told you, I’m a klutz.”

He chuckled and scooped her up in his arms bridal style.

“Matt?! What are you doing?”

“Carrying you? You can’t make it back up that hill.”

“I could”
She huffed, being the stubborn woman she is.

“Well I’m not going to allow you to.”
They made their way back up the hill and into the lobby. Matt got icepacks and a bandage wrap from the desk.
He wrapped her ankle like a pro, he’s had to do it plenty of times for himself and the guys after they got drunk and stupid.
Making their way back to the rooms she stopped at her door.

“Thanks Matt”

“It’s no problem at all, I’m glad I decided to go out this morning. I don’t normally work out when I’m taking time off.”
It wasn’t until now that Sadie saw just how big his tattooed arms were, she wondered how it would feel to have those wrapped around her waist and his lips on her neck.
She shook her head as if to toss the thoughts from her brain.
Matt ran his eyes over her small frame, her hair fell limply over one eye and a small smile played on her lips. Those lips were perfect, how he could picture them melding with his own and well going other places.

“So um…dinner tonight? And drinks?”
Sadie asked, it was the least she could do. And who knows, maybe this could turn into something.

“It’s a date.”
Later that night, Sadie checked herself over in the mirror.
She wore a black off the shoulder top, dark wash blue jeans and and pair of flip flops with wide rhinestone crested straps. Her hair was straightened and her makeup was light, she never liked to wear too much unless she had to.
A knock on the door caught her attention, opening it she saw Matt standing there in jeans, a black button up shirt and black DC sneakers.

“Wow, you look great.”
He breathed

“Thank you, so do you.”

“So uh ready to go?”

“Of course!”
They walked down the halls and into the restaurant and took a table near a window overlooked the small pond in the back.

“So tell me a little more about you Matt, aside from you like music and working out.”

“Well I have 4 best friends that I hang out with…a lot. I’m from California. I work a lot. Aaaannnd…well thats about it.”
Any more and he would have totally given away who he was, he didn’t want her to hang out with him just because of that.

“How about you Miss Sadie?”

“ I’m from Texas. I also work a lot. I have my dog Cookie, she’s a dumbass but I love her. I like working out, when I feel like it and I enjoy dates with tattooed men, twisting my ankles and being rescued by said tattooed men.”

“So you make it a habit of getting rescued?”
He laughed, knowing that last part was a joke.

“Oh yeah, I have like ESP for them or something.”

“Are you always this funny?”

“Not always, it’s more of a coping mechanism.”
She laughed nervously

“For what?”
He asked, confused.

“Being nervous, I don’t get to go out a lot and when I do I’m afraid people dont like me for me.”

“I know how you feel.”
He looked at the cute blonde, wondering how anyone could not like her for being her. But he knew where she was coming from, he had plenty of people try to be his friend just because of who he was or who he was friends with, making new friends was hard because it was difficult to trust anyone now days.
They ate their dinner, she tried to get him to try some weird looking desert called Flan, it wasn’t bad but the consistency almost made him gag. Afterwards they made their way over to the bar, a single bar tender standing behind the empty bar top.

“Good evening folks, what can I get for you?”

“A midori sour please.”
Sadie took a seat on a leather love seat against the wall

“What the hell is a midori sour?”
Matt asked with a small chuckle

“Delisiousness! I see you keep it simple, I can’t drink Jack anymore.”

“Got too drunk?”

“Obliterated.”
Sipping on their drinks they made small talk, talking about hobbies, family, music and if they had significant others.

“Nope, no boyfriend here. Its so hard to find a decent guy who’s not in it for just sex.”

“Amen to that, talking about girls I mean. No one seems to have any decency anymore.”

“I think I’m pretty decent. Sometimes.”

Matt chuckled, his hand moved to her knee.
The contact with her skin sent tingles down his spine, he knew it wasn’t the alcohol because ehe had only had one drink.
Sadie peered at his large hand on her leg, and for once she didn’t get a bad vibe about his intentions. He didn’t want anything more, and if he did he was a gentleman and didn’t ask to fuck her outright.
Placing her hand onto of his she traced a tattoo on his hand, the one of Jimmy’s deathbat.

“What does this mean? Or is it just for looks?”

“No, not for looks. Its for my friend Jimmy, he passed away a few years ago.”
The pain still resonated in his chest when he spoke about him.

“Oh gosh, I’m so sorry.”

“Thanks, he was great. You would have loved him, he was hilarious.”

She gripped his hand tighter and pulled him up

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see.”
She lead him down the hall to her room and opened the door.
“Don’t get excited Mr. Sanders, I’m only getting my guitar.”

She picked it up and led him back down the hall and out onto a porch off the back, a small fire was stoked in the pit. It was empty, the two of them took a seat on a porch swing.

“This is for jimmy”

She trimmed the opening chord to ‘Over You’
The lyrics:

But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you

Were sung by Sadie so beautifuly, it almost mad Matt cry, but at the same time, this moment seemed perfect.
A beautiful woman playing guitar FOR him and singing TO him instead of the other way around, singing a song for someone she didn’t even know.
She ended the song and set her guitar against the wall, turning to Matt.

“Just a hobby huh?”

“Yeah, it relaxes me and -“
She was cut off mid sentence by Matts lips meeting her own. Pulling away he looked shocked, like he didn’t believe what he just did.
Sadie took away his worry when she pulled him back towards her, he tasted sweet with a mixture of alcohol.
Their lips and mouths dance around each other, their tongues tangled. His strong arms pulled her into his lap and wrapped around her waist, pulling away he placed a kiss on her neck.

“We should’t do this, we’ve been drinking.”

He mumbled into her neck

“Your right, I’m not much of a voyer.”
Sliding from his lap she took his hand, grabbed her guitar and led him to her room.
