When Stars Align

He made up his mind and after a few short strides stood beside her table.

“Would you like some company?”

“Well I’m not sure, I don’t even know your name.”
She smiled, teasing him.

“I’m Matt, and you are?”

“Sadie”

“Well Miss Sadie, now that we know each other, would you like some company?”
He grinned, a sense of humor, he liked that in a girl.

“Sure, take a seat, any seat!”
She motioned to the 3 other chairs around the table. He took the one opposite her across the small table.
He ordered a steak for himself and focused on Sadie.

“So what brings you up here?”
Matt asked, trying to spark a conversation.

“Just a little get away, work has been crazy lately.”

“I understand that, almost the same reason I’m here. I do a lot of traveling with other people so it’s nice to get away from everyone for a bit.”

“Yeah, so you like music?”
His eyes widened at her question. Did she know?

“What makes you think that?”

“Well everyone usually likes music. But you do have a mic tattoo….”

“Oh…yeah…its a hobby.”

She nodded with a smile she finished her soup as Matt ate his meal, at least he had manners. Some guys she’s had meals with ate like a damn dog.

“Would you like to grab a drink after dinner?”
Matt asked after swallowing

“Um I’m actually really tired, I just flew in this morning and-“

“Tomorrow then?”

He had this cute little hopeful look on his face.

“I’ll think about it.”
She stood up and gathered her book and phone, hoping he would follow. He did.

“Mind if I walk you back to your room?”

“Well if your going that way.”

“Well it just so happens that I am. My lady?”
He held out his arm, Sadie took it wrapping her around his.
They took the short walk to their rooms, the halls quiet.

“You know they say this place is haunted.”
Sadie piped up, these hallways were kind of creepy at night.

“Oh?”

“Yeah, well we’re here.”
She opened her door
“Have a good night…alooonne”

“Yeah”
Matt squeaked
“You too”

Did ghost freak him out? A bit. And it didn’t help that this hotel was creepy as shit.
His phone ringing caused him to jump, catching his breath he looked, a text from Syn.

Syn: You make it alright?
M: Yeah, safe and sound.
Syn: Any fans?
M: Not that I’ve seen, its been pretty peaceful.
Syn: Cool deal, have a good time.
M: Thanks oh and Syn?
Syn: What?
M: Wrap it before you tap it
Syn: *middle finger emoji*

He decided to forgo the room and walked down down the hall towards the small bar, a jack and coke sounded really good right now.
Sadie turned the tv on and settled on Deadliest Catch, she did want a drink with Matt but at the same time she just wanted to zone out. There’s always tomorrow.
