NANCY

What have I done? I, Nancy Smith, hurt my boss; the man who fucking paid me. What kind of an employee was I? Scratch that, what kind of person was I?

Jimmy was one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I know he's crazy but in the most wonderful way possible. He was such a cheery person, out to have a good time on tour with his best friends. Even though this tour had a bumpy start and I was pissed in the beginning all because of Brian, Jimmy's presence somewhat comforted me always.

I know it's weird thinking like that about my boss but that was the truth. Whenever I was with him, I seemed to forget about my barriers, my shield. I mean, just look at the man in front of me. Jimmy made me feel like the old me, he somehow managed to bring out that Nancy that used to work with them two years ago; that Nancy who was naive and truly happy always.

Honestly, if two years ago I hadn't gone through that night then I would have considered the situation now. And by situation, I meant Jimmy and I. It was no secret that he had certain feelings for me. And if I was to say the truth, then the same goes for me. I mean how could I not?

Jimmy always cared about the people around him as far as I had witnessed. Whether it be the technicians or the Berry twins. Anyone who knew Jimmy as a person was bound to love him back. But at this point, I couldn't. At least not the way he expected me to.

While setting up the merch stand, I realized I was short of some sweat shirts, and a certain co worker. Something was up with DJ, I could tell. Hell, anyone could tell because she wasn't being herself today. Where was the free spirited girl who wanted me to join her in her plans of drinking away? Not that I wanted that, but I think I was starting to get used to her crazy and adventurous side. Or at least, I was trying to.

In some ways, she reminded me of myself, before I started working for Avenged; before that night that turned my life upside down. Assuming that DJ might be on the bus, I made my way towards it. I could see Zacky and Johnny messing around, and Matt on the phone with someone. Their cocky right handed guitarist had a cancer stick in his mouth but it wasn't lit as he seemed too busy drowned in his thoughts.

An unfamiliar feeling washed over me when I realized that Jimmy was missing. I thought he'd be out by now.

Praying internally that DJ would be on the bus as I hadn't seen her with Zack outside, I opened the door of the bus and walked in. Only to find Miss Berry and a bottle of JD in her hand. Drinking at work? God, how many times did I have to tell her she's not supposed to get alcohol in her system during working hours?

"DJ, seriously? I gave you one simple rule to follow and you couldn't even do that?" I said angrily. Well, I was pissed! With all the emotions flying around in my head firstly and now DJ breaking a very important rule, I was gonna go berserk.

"Nancy, I-I...."

"I'm not asking much from you, DJ." I said as I shut the door behind me. "You can drink and do whatever you want to, just not while you're working. That won't be accepted, try to understand that please." I sighed, putting my hands on my hips. Fuck, I was tired already.

When DJ didn't put away that bottle, I shot her a firm look. That's when I realized, something was seriously wrong. DJ never looked so puzzled and she surely never stuttered. "What's wrong, DJ?" I asked her in a soft tone. She clearly didn't seem to be in her head today and somehow that thought worried me. I could see it clearly that something was bothering her and she was clearly tensed. Even if we didn't get along that well, she should know that I'm there to talk if she wanted to.

"N'Nothing." She blurted before keeping the bottle back in the shelf. For some reason, I didn't wanna buy her answer. "You sure?" I asked. "You could talk to me, if you want to." I offered, waiting for her response. DJ always wanted me to open up to her and talk to her. But somehow I always pushed her away. Now that I was offering to talk, I somewhat expected her open up to me.

She looked at me, chewing on her lip probably thinking what she should do next. "Hey, no pressure DJ. I was just saying that if you ever feel like talking, I'm there." I said, studying her features. She rubbed her face with her palms, taking deep breaths in the process. If she wanted to be alone for a while, then I totally understood that. "I'll be in the merch booth." I said and grabbed some sweatshirts for which I had originally come up here.

"Nancy, wait." DJ spoke just before I was about to step off the bus. I shot her a questioning look and she swallowed hard. "Do you, um, do you still want to talk?" I asked and she shot me an unsure look. She put her hands in her pockets awkwardly and licked her lips. And somehow, we found ourselves settled on the couch while I waited for her to start.

"So..." I proceeded, looking at her. "Where should I begin?" DJ said, more to herself. "You could tell me what's it about. I mean, what is that particular thing that's bothering you." I said. 'It's, um...it's about..." she licked her lips once again and fidgeted with her hands. To make her feel better, I put my hand on hers making her shoot me a surprised look. "Go on," I said and she sighed. "It's my ex, Max." DJ said, making me shift uncomfortably in my spot.

She was having guy problems, and I thought I could help her out. What was I thinking? I myself needed help with this, with my feelings...with Jimmy.

"Um, okay. So what about him? You want to get back with him or-" DJ's eyes almost popped out of their sockets and I decided to keep quiet. "No, Nancy! No, I...that's not what it's about. He's..."

Okay, so clearly I was giving her wrong advise in the beginning. She doesn't wanna get back with her ex. "Was he, like cheating on you? Or wasn't giving you enough time?" I suggested , looking at her questioningly. "It's not that, Nancy. He didn't -" A pale look took over her face and I squeezed her hand, letting her know she could trust me.

"We broke up, long time ago but...he couldn't get over it, still." DJ hesitantly said before continuing further. "And now I'm confused, Nancy. I-I can't even think properly, he's been blowing up my phone and I just..." DJ seemed baffled by the situation totally. Is that why she stays on her phone most of the time?

"DJ, calm down please." I said and she looked at me worriedly. "You could tell Jason and Matt. I mean, they're your brothers and obviously they're protective of you-"

"I can't, Nancy. Look, I don't wanna involve them or anyone else in this. I just wanted to get some things off my chest." DJ sighed, running a hand through her hair. "That's why I shared this with you. With him bugging me almost all the time, I can't focus on anything," she said, closing her eyes. "I mean, what should I do? I obviously can't and won't tell anyone else about this. I just...fuck," she sighed, throwing her head back on the couch.

"I'd do what my heart wanted if I were you." I said and for a split second, Jimmy's face flashed in front of me. I wish I could do what my heart actually wanted. Even though there's a lot of barriers between him and I, but if I could just follow my heart I would.

But I myself was stuck in this situation; a situation from where I can't change my future or my past. I can't go back to time and fix things that I badly regretted. I can't even change the present, I was bound by the rules and I wasn't someone who broke rules that easily.. And I don't know what the future held for me, for him.

"Trust me, DJ. If you ever get the opportunity to follow your heart, just do it. Don't let go of something or someone you want and care for dearly." I swallowed hard at my own words and looked at her. She was looking at me with her mouth slightly opened and a small frown.

"Do you know what you truly want?" I asked her as the realization hit me hard that I couldn't get what I wanted if even I wanted to. But I'd surely help DJ to get what she wanted because no feeling can be compared to that feeling of satisfaction when you have that thing or person on your life that you dearly want.

"I think I do..." she barely whispered with a dreamy look on her face and I sighed. "Then go get it, before it's too late." I said and shot her a faint smile. "Go with your gut and don't care about your past or what others think as long as you're happy with what you have." I said and she licked her lips.

"Maybe you should take some rest, clear your head a little. I'll handle the merch today," I said and grabbed the stock of sweat shirt before heading down to the merch booth. "Nanny!" I heard DJ's voice and turned my head back at her. "Yeah?" I asked, waiting for her reply. I was glad DJ realized she could talk to me. And about us getting along, I think we've succeeded that part.

"Thanks." She shot me a faint smile which I gladly returned. "You're welcome," I replied and let out a contented sigh before walking towards the merch stand. Well, as long as DJ took the right decision and did what was best for her, I will be glad. The moment I reached the merch stand, I found a familiar figure with his back facing me.

"Jimmy, you..." He immediately turned around and started speaking.

"Before you say anything, Nancy, please let me. And so sorry for interrupting you." He said and walked towards me. "What do you have to say to me?" I kept the stock of sweat shirts on the ground and took a step back as he inched closer to me.

"I know I should have said this earlier, way before any of the stupid rules were made," Jimmy spoke looking down at me, still taking small step towards me. I instinctively stepped back along with every step he took forward, until my back hit a wall. A jolt of electricity shot through me when Jimmy stopped himself inches away from me, putting a hand on the side of my head.

"Nancy, I don't know what it's about you. Maybe it's the way nothing else matters when we talk, or it could be the way you say the right thing at the exact right time-" he stopped and looked down at me. His blue eyes shone brighter than ever and his words made the jittery feeling in me disappear.

"Wha-what are you saying?" I managed to say as his intoxicating cologne hit my nose. "The truth. Do you feel that, Nancy? That...thing between us?" Jimmy questioned and if he took a single step towards me now, I'd get squeezed between him and the wall behind me. I looked down, my chest rising and falling with each breath that I took.

I felt blood rush through my veins at a faster rate and my throat became dry as a stick "I don't feel that way with anyone but you, Nancy. We have a fire and you can't deny that." He said with his adorable lisp and I licked my lips instinctively. His eyes traveled down to my lips and fixed it's gaze on them. "This can't happen." I half moaned, feeling his body pressed against mine.

"It can, no one has to know." He said and I closed my eyes as he tucked a few strands of hair behind my ear. "No..." I tried pushing him away, failing miserably. "You changed my life without even trying, Nancy. I can't imagine what things would be like if I hadn't met you. Why don't you understand that?" Jimmy said, putting his hands on my shoulders.

"I want that part of you that you that you refuse to give to anyone." He said, stroking my cheek with his long fingers.

"Jimmy, please. You're making this hard for me," I forced myself to push him away and looked at him helplessly. "What, Nancy?" He asked softly, looking into my eyes. "You and I cannot be together. I'm just your employee, Jimmy. Everyone will start treating me differently, look at me differently." I explained and bit my lip. Hell, I didn't want that. I wanted to live my way the way I was living now. "And on top of that, if things go wrong between us then I'd have to leave my job. And trust me, I don't want that." I said and he took a hold of my hand.

"No one will have to know about us, Nancy. We can have a secret relationship, you know like those TV shows. We just have to be careful, that way no one will treat you differently," he said and entwined his fingers with mine. God, he seemed determined to get what he wanted. "And do you know, it hurts when you have someone so close to you and your heart but not in your arms. Don't you see it? I'd give anything to be with you." Jimmy said and I looked down at our hands.

"Plus, I don't think things can ever go wrong between us. But even if it does, I won't make the mistake of letting you slip away from my life." He said and I bit the inside of my mouth. "We can work this out, trust me."

"Look, I-" I stopped just as his fingers brushed against my lips, gliding over them gently. "I know we both enjoy each others company and you become this totally different person when I'm with you," he said, stroking my cheek and I enjoyed the feeling of his cool, long fingers on my skin. God, this is so wrong.

"I wanna see that version of you more, Nancy. Hell, I love all your versions. But I wanna show you that love rather than just saying it," he said huskily in my ear, making shivers run down my spine. What was this man doing to me?

I couldn't think clearly with his hot breath hitting my skin. I untangled my hands from his and put them on his chest as an attempt to stop him from doing anything further. His body tensed under my touch and I felt his eyes on me. His blue eyes somehow always soothed me. "God, Jimmy I-I can't do this," I said, shaking my head. "I can't get involved with you, you're my boss. You and I...we're not supposed to be in a situation like this." I said, motioning between us with my hands.

"And who's to decide that?" He pressed further, making me look up at him. Oh god, he was being persistent today. But I couldn't break my wall so easily, especially after what I've gone through before.

"We've never had a perfect moment so far, Nancy. Either way, something stopped us from taking a step. Whether it be the rules or Zacky and DJ crashing our moment." Jimmy spoke and I decided to take advantage of that. "Exactly, Jimmy. You'll never get your perfect moment, at least not with me definitely." I really didn't wanna say this, but I had too. He had to get over me, I didn't know how but he had to.

"I wasn't finished yet," he said and I felt his hands on my waist, making me freeze under his touch. "Wha-"

"I don't want a perfect moment, Nancy. But as long as you're with me, every imperfect moment will mean much more to me than some.....pitch perfect movie scene," he said boring his eyes deep into mine. After a few moments of silence and processing everything that just happened, I felt him lean his face down and I knew what that meant.

"Oh no, no, no. I can't break the rules and I won't break them even if I get the chance to. And this, between us is nothing, Jimmy. Please try to-"

I was cut off again and this time, not by his words but his soft lips pressed against mine. I sighed but didn't push him away or even pull myself away. Jesus Christ, what was I getting myself into again?

Notes

Oh yay, another update!

This was quite a special one, wasn't it?!
So we learned a little bit more about DJ's ex, Max. And Nancy and DJ seem to hit it off now, don't they?

And Jimmy finally told Nancy what he feels and even took the lead and kissed her. Awwwhhhh, so adorable, lol :D

Now the question arises, will Nancy kiss him back? Or will she push him away?
Stay tuned <3

This is really amusing so far!

I had a question though, how do u write a story that’s got two authors? I mean, how do u plan it out? Do u discuss everything beforehand? I’m just curious!

This is the first story on this site that I read, and it’s worth my time. I can’t wait to read your other works :-)

Pleaseee bring this back!

Okay I've finally finished catching up on this. First I need an update please, I will nag for one just so you know. Second, Nancy needs to come clean with Jimmy about who she messed up with. My gut says it was Brian, hence the hatred she feels for him, but there's a part of me that thinks it could also be Matt. Why? Well he's the one who put the rules into place and something just gnaws at me saying its him because its not so obvious. Either way tell Jimmy before it goes too far, Jimmy is not to be hurt, ladies! As for DJ, she needs to come clean too, tell her brothers what's going on but she opened up a little to Nancy, so that's a start. She also needs to continue leaving Haner hanging for while, he's a total douche so far and I'm loving hating him. Now, how about an update? ;)
