After All That We've Been Through

Trouble in Paradise

Kady's POV

"Come on, stay a while! Have a shot," Jimmy said with a smile on his face. He was extremely kind and awfully persistent. Was he always this energetic or was it the drugs and alcohol talking? I wasn’t sure but at least he was amusing. "Might as well get to know each other since we going on tour together next week."

How could I say no and crush his spirit? I just hoped Gates wouldn't find me. I was still fucking fuming about what he did. First of all, why the hell would you just go around kissing people you just met? Especially when you have a girlfriend? Ugh I was so disgusted and if he tried to talk to me again he would feel more than just me knee in his groin. No fucking played me and got away with it! I would seriously beat his ass. I was nobody’s puppet or plaything!

"So do you see a lot of action on the road?" Gunnar asked, wagging his eyebrows at Jimmy in a perverted manner. His voice brought me back from my thoughts of beating the shit out of Gate. At least now the alcohol was staring to take affect and my body was becoming numb to the bullshit around me.

Marley’s arm suddenly tightened around my shoulders in a protective manner. What the hell? I looked up to see his fists clenched and jaw locked, looking beyond pissed. What was up with him? It wasn’t like Marley to get pissed off over nothing, so something had to be bothering him. But just as I opened my mouth to ask him what was wrong, another voice sounded behind us, making me instantly cringe.

"There you are! Listen, Kady, we need to talk," the obnoxious voice slurred.

Without turning around to acknowledge him, I looked at Jimmy and squeezed Marley's hand. "I've said all I want to say, Gates, and if you don't walk away now, you'll be back on the floor. Only this time you'll be blacked out," I responded simply. Damn it was hard to be snarky and keep my anger in check. Synyster Gates would not get the better of me.

"Ouch," Jimmy muttered as I took another shot. "She doesn't mess around...."

"First of all, my name is Brian," he slurred, his hand touching my shoulder. I bit down on my bottom lip and slowly counted to ten. It was taking all of my strength not to turn around and knock his ass on the ground. Why couldn’t he just take the hint and leave me alone? "Second of all, I'm not in a rel--"

"She said she didn't want to talk to you, playboy!" Marley said, giving Brian a firm shove backwards. Marley had a look in his eyes that I had never seen before but I kind of liked it. He suddenly had a more dangerous edge and I couldn’t help but smile.

"Come on, guys there is no need for this," Jimmy said coming around the bar as Brian stumbled back to a standing position. He was definitely wasted. "We are here to have a good time not fight."

"Why don't you mind your own business."

I turned back around to see Brian and Marley about nose to nose, even though Brian was a couple of inches shorter. I saw Marley's arm flex and I knew he was trying to restrain himself from hitting Brian. What had I started?

"Come on, boys," I said pushing myself in between them, noticing that the kitchen was no longer empty. All the members of Avenged stood around us and Gunnar was behind Marley. This wasn't normal for him. We were usually getting Gunnar or Caleb out of trouble, not Marley.

"Let's go, Marley," I said, grabbing his arm and pulling him away. It was then that an arm grabbed mine and pulled me around.

"We need to talk." Those gorgeous dark brown eyes were serious and staring straight into my soul. If I hadn’t been so pissed at him, I may have melted inside but I was not a play this game.

"Well I don't want to talk to you," I hissed with narrow eyes. "Leave me the fuck alone." I yanked my arm out of his grip and pulled Marley towards the door with Gunnar's help. "Thanks for having us, Jimmy," I called over my shoulder. As I looked back, I saw those sad brown eyes flowing me out the door. That's right asshole, watch me leave because you'll never have another chance.

"Aww man, what the fuck, Fitz?!" Gunnar said to Marley as we got outside. "I was having a great time!"

"So sorry to inconvenience you," Marley snapped, turning around and putting his hands up at Gunnar. With that he started to walk away down the street in the opposite direction of the car.

I quickly chased after him and pulled him back around to face me. "Marley, what the hell is going on?" I questioned, putting my hands on either side of his face, forcing him to look me in the eye. He stared at me for a minute, his blue eyes locked on mine. What was this look in his eyes?

"That asshole wouldn't back off and leave you alone," he said, pulling away and putting his hands behind his head. He looked so stressed and confused. I had never seen him like this.

"Don't lie to me, Marley," I said with pleading eyes as I took a step towards him. "You were pissed before Gates ever started talking to me again."

"No I wasn't." He refused to look me in the eye. Liar. We’d been friends since eight grade and I could read him like a book. He couldn’t lie to me!

I put my hands on my hips and gave him a stern look. "Marley Jacob Fitzgerald, I know you better than you know yourself. Don't lie to me. What is going on?"

"Nothing, Kadence, nothing fucking at all. Sorry I stood up for you. It won't happen again!" My mouth dropped and I gapped at him as he turned around and started walking away from me.

"Come on, Marley where are you going? Come back," I said, racing after him.

"I'm walking home. What does it look like?" Marley snapped in an icy tone.

"Marley don't do this," I pleaded, grabbing his arm again. I didn't understand his anger or why he was so upset. This was not the Marley I knew.

"Leave me alone Kadence and don't fucking follow me." He ripped his arm out of my grip and flipped me off.

"Marley..." I cried as he took off running down the middle of the road, leaving me standing alone in the dark. What the fuck just happened?

Over the next week I didn't hear from Marley. Sure he came to all our band meetings and recording sessions, but he avoided me like the plague. What the hell was going on with him? He joked around and played video games with the guys but gave me the cold shoulder. I was worried.

"It's tour day!" Caleb sang into my door at five in the morning. "I hope you're ready!" This was honestly the happiest he'd been in a long time.

"Yes I'm ready and you should really leave the singing to me," I yawned, slinging my backpack over my shoulder. I hated being awake when it was still dark outside. It just didn’t seem natural, especially when my bed looked so appealing behind me. Good bye comfortable bed…I will miss you!

He laughed and grabbed my two rolling suitcases and headed down the stairs. I followed him and found myself face to face with Marley at the bottom of the stairs. He gave me a small smile and then motioned to the coffees in his hands. Was this a peace offering?

"Got everything, babe?" he asked as if he hadn't ignored me for the whole week. He grabbed my backpack and put it over his shoulder.

"Yes, how about you? Got all your hair care products?" I teased and took the coffee out of his other hand. I was now even more confused than before. Why was Marley acting so weird?

"You bet," he smiled as we walked out the door.

There in front of our house was a large white and black tour bus. It was so much better than the roadie van we had used when we were an opening act. I was starting to feel excited: this was the real deal!

"Let's go, let's go!" Our manager Mason yelled. "We need to be in Oregon by five tonight. We also are scheduled to meet up with Avenged Sevenfold for a radio interview on the way."

Shit, this was real! We were going on tour as a headliner!

Jimmy's POV

"Are you bitches ready?" I half screamed, half sang as I swung on the doorframe of the tour bus. My feet dragged on the stairs slightly from being over six feet tall, but what the hell, it was still fun. It was five in the morning but I was totally awake. In fact, I hadn't slept all night! Something about going on tour got my blood pumping and I was always too anxious to sleep. That was for mere mortals anyway.

"Dude," Johnny said, opening one eye to look at me from the couch. "Its too early for that shit."

"Fuck you!" I screamed, jumping down and running up the steps and sitting down next to him on the couch. It was so much fun to mess around with short shit. "So last night I did a lot of thinking..." I started.

"Oh yeah?" he sighed, knowing that I wasn't going to let him sleep. I nodded at Zacky and Matt as they clambered onto the bus. They looked a little worse for wear too. Damn, was I the only one excited to be back on the road?

"Yeah...I was thinking...FUCK YOU!" I screamed in his ear.

"What the hell, man?" Johnny hissed, shaking his head before heading back to his bunk. Well someone was a sourpuss this morning!

"Welcome back to tour, short shit!" I leaned back, placing my hands behind my head. Where was Brian? He had been acting really odd since the night of the party. Something was up and I hoped he would be ready to talk about.

"Jimmy, will you call Brian and make sure he is on his way?" Matt asked after a long yawn.

"Yes sir!" I pulled out my phone just as it started to ring in my hand. Speak of the devil himself! "Herro? Chinese buffet how can I help you?" I said, watching Matt stock the cupboards.

"Yes, I wanted to place an order for pick up," Brian said after a chuckle. "How about some stir fry, sweet and sour chicken and some Synyster Gates?"

"I don’t know if we serve that, let me ask the manager," I laughed, knowing he wanted us to pick him up on the way. "Matt, can we pick Brian up?"

Matt let out a sigh and then nodded. I swear he muttered something about being responsible for once in his life before we went out on tour, but it wasn't my place to step in. If Brian wanted to have fun, let him. He was a grown man that could make his own decisions.

"Ahh, pick up will be ready in... ahh… ten minutes! See ya soon, buddy!" I said before hanging up. I couldn't wait for this tour to start! I was so freaking pumped!

"We're off to get our Brian, the wonderful Brian Haner. He truly is the best guitar player there ever ever was. If ever he was the best guitar player because, because because because because becaaause, because of the major metal he shreds. We're off the pick up Brian, the best friend there ever was!" I sang to the tune of "We're Off to See the Wizard" from the Wizard of Oz before I was smacked in the face with a pillow. Damn I loved this shit!

Brian's POV

It seemed like we had been driving for hours when I woke up in my bunk hours late. The sun was blasting though the windows and was burning my eyelids. Fucking hell, what time was it? I slowly reached for my aviator sunglasses and pulled them down over my eyes. I was not ready to get up and meet my demons yet.

After the tour send-off party at Jimmy's house, I felt like shit. I wasn't sure what had happened, but I knew that something happened between Kady, Michelle, and myself. I woke up that morning sore and full of regret. I always turned to alcohol and drugs when I had a problem instead of facing it and that night wasn't any different. The only thing Jimmy told me was that I had kissed Kady before she saw me with Michelle. Apparently she kicked the shit out of me before storming out with her band mates.

I closed my eyes again and all I could see were those bright blue eyes. I smiled to myself at the thought of having her tucking into my bunk with me, fully satiated after a good romp. A man could stare into those eyes forever…

I had contemplated going over to the studio multiple times during the week to talk to her but I couldn’t work up the nerve to face her. Especially when I wasn't completely sure what I said to her or what lead to the kiss. Contrary to my stage persona, Brian Haner wasn't as bold as everyone thought.

"Haner, get up, we're here!"

I opened my eyes after what felt like seconds later. Damn, my nap hadn't been anywhere near long enough! I pulled my black scull beanie over my head and I joined the others in the living room area. Matt was dressed in his usual cut off plaid shirt while Zacky had his hair combed over in a new way. Johnny and Jimmy were both sitting on the couch listening to Matt's pep talk. Fuck, I really wasn’t ready for this shit…

"So this is just a radio interview but we are sharing the slot with Fatal Facade. For the love of God, please no more fights. Vengeance, I'm talking to you," Matt said, throwing a glare in his direction. I couldn't' help but chuckled since Jimmy and I were usually the ones getting in trouble.

"Remember keep it simple and short, we need to be back on the road in half an hour," Matt warned before we headed off the bus.

As we stepped off the bus, I noticed the members of Fatal Facade walking next to us. There she was, her long red curls flowing in the slight breeze. She was so damn sexy that I could barely stand it. It was then that I noticed her watching me too and I threw a wink at her. Kady rolled her eyes and took the arms of Gunnar and Marley who where walking on either side of her. What was I doing wrong? No girl had ever responded like this to me before.

Throughout the entire interview, I couldn't focus. I kept glancing over at Red, watching her laugh and talk to her band mates. Something about her intrigued me and I couldn't get her out of my head, no matter how hard I tried. By the end of the interview, I was beyond frustrated and couldn't take staying in my own head that long. Get he fuck out my brain Kady!

"I'm going out for a smoke," I said to Matt before heading out the door. "I'll meet you back on the bus in five." As I walked I unwrapped that beautiful red and black box, pulling off the gold plastic wrapper. It was the only thing separating me from the sweet release that I needed.

"Hold up, Haner," Zacky called, catching up with my quick steps with a cigarette already in his mouth. "You ready to be back at the late nights and endless traveling?"

"Yeah, it will distract me from...well you know," I said with a shrug, not being completely honest. I wasn't about to tell him that my brain was currently fixed on something else.

"Yeah, that's rough what Chelley did to you. I wouldn't have been able to stay with her either." I was so tired of seeing the sympathetic smile that all the guys gave me. Hell, they had all been cheated on before too. Yes it hurt like hell and maybe even destroyed me but I wasn't going to let anyone else know.

"Sucks that she cheated on you with that Brad guy," Zack said as we stepped back outside. I quickly lit my cigarette and took a long drag, blowing the smoke out my nose. I just really wished he would shut up about it. I didn’t want to talk about her.

"I don’t want to talk about, Michelle anymore," I snapped. "Yes she cheated on me, yes it sucks, so I dumped her ass, and I don’t want to talk about it," I finished as he opened his mouth again. However, it was then that I noticed Red standing on the other side of the door.

Kady gaped at me for a moment before putting her cigarette back between her lips. Fuck she heard everything I just said and there was no recovering from that. I didn't want to play the fucking pity card.

"So are you ready for tonight?" Zack asked her, thankfully breaking the awkward silence that had fallen between the three of us.

"Yeah we are super stoked. Hope you guys are ready to put on a good show tonight because we are going to get the fans fucking stoked!" Kady said with a warm smile, her eyes watching me. "Are you going to play any of your new stuff?"

"Yeah, I think so, and speaking of which, I need to talk to Matt about the set list. Thanks for reminding me...by the way…what’s your real name?" Zack asked her. I was surprised he was being so civil to her right now, seeing as she was the sister of the man he hated the most.

"No problem and it’s Kady," She blew out a long puff of smoke, as Zacky left us standing in awkward silence.

"So, I think I may owe you an apology," I said slowly, though I wasn't exactly sure what for.

"Damn right you do," Kady snapped after letting out another puff of smoke. Ouch that tone hurt a little bit. "But I bet you don’t remember a damn thing."

I shrugged, raising my hands and giving her a sheepish smile. Kady rolled her eyes as I took another long drag. "It was long night and you don’t know it yet, but Jimmy is very persistent when we go out drinking. I'm sorry for whatever I did because I woke up being sore as fuck. I was told you beat the shit out of me," I said while blowing out smoke. I smiled as she let out a soft chuckle; even that was attractive.

"And I guess I am sorry about not letting you explain," she sighed, leaning her thin fit body again the brick wall behind us. "I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but I heard what you said when you came out. So you didn't have a girlfriend when you kissed me?"

I frowned lightly, trying to remember the kiss but I could only remember her looking into my eyes. Damn I wish I had been sober! "No, Michelle and I split three months ago when...well you heard," I sighed. Why was I even talking about this with her? I didn't know anything about her besides she was smoking hot. I didn't need to explain myself to her, did I?

"Sorry for slapping you and kicking you in the groin..." she muttered, looking down at the ground with slight flush on her cheeks. "I—"

"Kady, we've got to get moving if we are going to make it for sound check," one of the members of her band said, sticking his head out the door. He was slightly taller than me, wore aviator sunglasses, and was covered in tattoo.

It was then that he saw me and he narrowed his eyes. What the hell did I do? "Is this prick bothering you again?" he asked, staring me down with daggers.

"No," Kady said, stomping out her cigarette butt with her heels. Damn it, why was everything about her so damn sexy? "The other night was a misunderstanding, and by the way, Marley this this is Brian. Brian this is Marley."

"Welcome to the family," I said taking one more puff of glory before putting out my cigarette. "Good luck tonight, we are excited to hear your set."

Marley snorted and shook his head before grabbing Kady's hand. What was with that guy? Where they a couple? "Yeah, thanks. See you around," he said before disappearing again.

"See you later tonight for the after party?" I asked Kady before she went in. "After kneeing me in the balls, I think you owe me a drink."

"Yeah, we'll see," she chuckled, following Marley.

"Don’t leave me drinking alone!" I called after her, a smile lingering on my lips. She would give into my charm—it was only a matter of time!

So, drama is on it's way, I guess??

Once again, you devious devil, you left us with a huge cliffhanger :P I really hope this situation doesn't ruin Kady and Syn's relationship and that Marley and Caleb don't do anything more stupid once they find out that Syn and Kady are together. Christ knows that they need to grow up and sort whatever issues they have going on with the A7x guys, especially Caleb.

Oh, Miss Kayla, you drive me insane with your goddamn cliff hangers! It should be a crime for you to do that to us :P haha Update soon x
