She's a Little Bit Country, He's a Little Bit Rock N' Roll

Almost Adults

Matt and I were linked together as we arrived back to the hotel. Jimmy ran up to us.

"Matt what the fuck?! I thought you were going to let me know if you found her! I was worried sick!" He whined as he picked me up tightly and spun me around.

"Shit I'm so sorry J! I was so wrapped up in finding her myself that when I did I was focused on that."

"Talk to the hand, bitch. You've earned yourself two hours of me ignoring you." Jimmy crossed his arms and huffed as he walked inside of the hotel.

Oh, my Jimmy.

Before Matt could even hold the door open for me, Val jumped out of it out of breath. I couldn't believe that she was actually pregnant. My brain had the natural instinct to want to pummel her to the ground but I couldn't. I think the boys were turning me into a big softy like their father.

"Oh, sorry. Um...Ivy can I have a minute?"

Matt looked at me to make sure I wasn't going to kill her if he left.

"I'm good, babe. Go inside, I'll be up soon."

He nodded his head and made his way inside as Val and I walked over to the garden of the hotel for a quiet place. We barely made it to the bench as our giant beach ball bellies were beginning to make simple tasks a lot harder.

"Ivy, look...I didn't mean to cause any trouble between you and Matt. I'm going to assume that he updated you on my situation. I talked to my sister about it and she offered for me to stay with her for the rest of the tour but I needed to talk to everyone first. You're at the top of my list. I know I treated you horribly, and I can't even begin to say how much the last few months have changed me as a person. I'm not that same vile woman that I was. You have to learn who you really are quickly when you lose everything you've ever know. The only thing that matters to me in this entire universe is keeping my baby safe. I know you can understand that. I'm not here to cause trouble, I just...I really have no place else to go...I'm scared out of my mind."

She looked down at her feet, or what she could still see of them, and I watched as tears fell onto her clasped hands that sat in her lap. She really was hurting, and suddenly all of the frustration and anger I've harbored towards her since we met dissipated. I reached over and grabbed her hands in mine and let out a deep breath.

"Val I don't hate you. I never have. I'm going to be forward when I say that you were an entire bitch and a half to me when Matt and I first met. I get it, though. You had what you thought you wanted and I came in and took it away. I would react the same way if another girl tried to take away what I've built up with Matt, and I never once meant to hurt you in any way. You were here long before I came into the picture, and I know you and all of the guys have had your differences, but I can assure you none of them hate you. You were all there to support them from the beginning. You don't have to ask anyone for permission to stay with us, including me. I think all of the guys, Matt included, owe you a huge favor for everything you have done for them since day one. We will all be here for you and the baby from now on. They are your family, and I suppose now I am too."

She smiled, and it wasn't sarcastic or evil. It was genuine and beautiful. I think for the first time since I met her, I could see that she did have a soul and wasn't the reincarnation of Satan after all.

"I promise you won't even know I'm here most of the time and I'll keep to myself and you--"

"Val, stop. Make yourself comfortable. Let us know what you need and we can get it to you...but...does anyone know who--"

"No. No one knows. I can't bring myself to tell them."

"Is it someone they know?"

"I told Matt it wasn't but...yes. His name is Sawyer. The guys and I went to high school with him. We all used to be close back then, but once we all graduated we just went separate ways. Matt has kept in contact with him over the years here and there. He knows where Sawyer lives and what he looks like and...if Matt found out I know he would kill him."

"Is that really such a bad thing? A creep like that needs to have his basic human rights taken away." I huffed.

"Michelle helped me look up lawyers after Matt left. We found one that looks promising. I don't have much evidence, but I think I have enough to get him locked away without bail. The day he pushed me down the stairs, I had security cameras installed that morning in most of the rooms with the baby on the way. He didn't know they were there. I have the tape of the incident and a few aggressive text messages and voicemails saved."

"You let me know what I can do for you. And--?" I gestured towards her stomach.

"Ava. Ava Hope." She smiled.

"It's a girl...that's amazing Val. Don't worry about Matt, or the guys. Your secret is safe with me and Michelle. We won't tell the guys anything you don't want us to."

"Thank you, Ivy. I mean it from the bottom of my heart, thank you. This is all just so overwhelming and I hope I don't add any extra stress to the end of the tour. I know this bit is always slightly more rough on the guys."

"I promise you, they'll be fine. If they have a problem they can take it up with me. I've got two strong boys to help me fight 'em." I chuckled.

"Do you have names for them yet?"

"We have been throwing some around, but I think I need to meet them before I can decide. I want to see their personalities first."

"They're going to be beautiful." She smiled.

The sun was starting to set and my boys were starting to stir in their squishy round nest.

"We should head back up and see if the guys want to get some food. Are you hungry?"

"Ugh, I'm starving. Ava loves pizza apparently. She can make me eat an entire medium by myself."

"The boys always get me with Chinese food. I feel miserable afterward every single time. Actually, let's kick Brian out and have a girls night with Michelle. She would love that. We can watch movies and order room service. It'll be great." I clapped.

"Ivy you really don't have to do all of this just because you feel sorry for me." Val frowned.

"Family is family. I'm not doing this because I feel sorry for you. I am doing this because I think all of us could use it. I just want to promise you that everything is going to be okay. You stay with us as long as that dirt bag is out on the streets, and we will keep you safe."

We held hands as we walked up to the hallway. By the doors of the rooms we saw all of the guys standing around at the edge of the hallway. We could hear Matt freaking out.

"I don't know, man. Maybe I should have hidden myself outside. What if they're out their murdering each other?!" He sighed.

"I uh, I think they're at the opposite point of murder." Brian raised his eyebrows at us as the guys all turned around.

"Wha...why are you holding hands? What's happening. Are you both sick? Do you have fevers? Let me check!"

I slapped his hand away from my face and chuckled at his slight panic attack.

"Boys, I think Val, Michelle and myself need a break from all of the testosterone in the air. Brian, sorry but you're sleeping with my baby daddy tonight."

"What? Fuck, man. He snores like a dragon! I can't sleep with that shit!" Brian whined.

"Oh whatever I would rather snore than release gas that makes the whole bed shake at night." Matt chuckled.

Val went towards Michelle's room and I went into mine with Matt following me so I could pack up some essentials.

"So...you didn't kill each other." He sat on the edge of the bed watching me get ready.

"Yeah can you imagine? Self-control, what a concept." I smirked.

"Okay but seriously, are you two best friends now? Is she going to sit there and tell you fifteen years worth of embarrassing stories while you both plot against me? I'm a goner aren't I." He fell back into the bed, looking extremely pitiful in the process.

"Will you relax you big drama queen? I think Val just needs a night of peace with us. She's been through a lot, she deserves it."

"Look at my baby go. Being the bigger person and all that shit." He smiled and sat up to grab me into his lap.

"There's no point in being nasty to her anymore. I have everything I have ever needed. I'm going to be a mom. I have the best boyfriend in the entire world. I love life. She just needs our help."

"Well, I hope you three have fun tonight. No male strippers!" He chuckled and slapped me on the ass.

"Yeah, you tell that same thing to Brian. No male or female strippers." I laughed and picked up my bag, giving Matt a quick kiss before skipping across to Michelle's room.

I walked into Michelle already getting into the spirit as she made a small blanket fort with what she had to work with in the hotel room.

"I've already ordered room service! I probably got one of everything off of the menu. I also looked up what movies we could order to watch! I was thinking something uplifting and funny!" Michelle squealed. She was so adorable, she looked like a four year old on Christmas morning.

"Well I brought most of the sleepover essentials. We have face masks, nail polish, multiple hair ties to start a braid chain later, and best of all, the unicorn slippers Jimmy bought me last week." I placed everything into the blanket fort.

Brian was still gathering all of this belongings. He was stalling so badly.

"Babe do I really have to go to Matt's room? Why can't I stay here with you guys! I like face masks and I have enough hair to braid too!" He whined.

"Sweetheart, love of my life, I adore you to death you know that, but this is the first chance I've had for a girls night in about two years and I'm going to need you to relax and go have fun with the guys. Why don't you all have a dude sleepover or something? Drink whiskey, watch scary movies, tell ghost stories. Whatever it is that you would do." Michelle chuckled kissing him.

"You know, that isn't a bad idea. We can all pile around and pretend we are in high school again." He rubbed his chin before Michelle grabbed it, forcing him to look her in the eyes.

"No strippers, no drugs, no getting completely shit-faced. Take a break from liquor and have a genuine good time." She held up her pinky so he would promise her. I found it extremely adorable that they still pinky promised each other things.

He wrapped his pinky around hers as they both kissed their hands to seal the deal.

"Tell Jimmy to tell you a ghost story later. He has the best ones." Val grinned.

"Yeah we'll see about that. I bet I can make them all cry." He chuckled as he closed the door of the room.

"Okay, what first? Val, you pick!" Michelle smiled.

"Let's do nails before the food gets here. I haven't had a pedicure in weeks. I can't even see my feet to do it myself." She laughed.

She sat on the floor in front of Michelle and I sat beside them to start on my fingernails.

"You guys, I really needed this. Thank you." Val grinned grabbing our hands.

"It's no problem, sis. I missed you. Though at some point tonight, we do need to make a plan. I know you don't want to but it has to be done. While you were talking to Ivy, I called the office of that lawyer we found. She was super nice and respectful. She would love to take on the case, and she said you definitely have enough evidence to get him locked up without bail or parole, especially since the security footage had audio on it and recorded him threatening to kill you. However, since the public knows you, it would be harder on you and the baby to do a trial with him. She mentioned a different kind of trial, I forgot what it was called, but basically we present the evidence to a jury and a judge who decide if he will be found guilty or not guilty without him being there physically. If they decide guilty, the judge puts out a police warrant for his arrest, and they go track him down and boom, behind bars."

"Thank you, Michelle. God you have no idea how stressful all of this has been on me and the baby. When do we set up a trial?"

"Already done. She said she has an opening in four days. You and I will drive out to meet with her because the tour stop won't be far from where she's located. We will have a trial that afternoon."

"I hope this works, Michelle. I really do. If he goes to prison, I don't even know where I am going to relocate. Somewhere far from him that he will never suspect. I want to keep an extremely low profile."

"I know a place." I smiled.

"Really?" Val raised her eyebrows.

"It will be perfect. My parents own a two bedroom cabin on some land in Ireland. That's where my dad grew up. They rent it out as a vacation home, but they've already met you and if I ask for a favor they would write up a lease agreement for you, no problem. You can take over the property. It's already paid off, so you would just have to pay for your own amenities."

"I've always wanted to go to Ireland. That would be amazing!"

"I'll email my dad tomorrow morning. He can get it done quickly."

Val gave me a huge hug, smearing her freshly painted nails in the process. She didn't care. I could tell a giant weight has been lifted off of her shoulders.

"Alright, serious business outta the way. Let's actually enjoy ourselves now." Michelle chuckled.

A knock on the door signaled room service. I hopped up to get it so Michelle wouldn't have to stop what she was doing.

I opened the door to reveal an extremely naked Johnny with his hands on a silver cart.

"Room service." He mumbled monotonously.

I heard roaring laughter as I peeked my head out of the door to see Matt, Jimmy, Brian, and Zacky having a laugh attack in the hallway.

"Truth or dare?" I smirked.

"Everytime!" Jimmy laughed.

I shook my head and watched as Johnny reluctantly pushed the cart into the room, backing out slowly.

"Did you bow, bitch?!" Brian yelled from the hall.

Johnny growled and rolled his eyes as he turned and bowed slowly, showing us a side of him we hadn't seen before in a very literal sense.

Michelle and Val were losing it on the floor.

Johnny should have learned a long time ago that if the guys ask you truth or dare, you go with truth.

Always, truth.

Notes

I always pick dare, because I'm an idiot.

Hey gurl hey! Sorry I haven't been keeping up, I pretty much stopped reading fanfiction for ages. Not because I don't still enjoy it, I just wasn't motivated/in the mood to read. But I caught up on this whole thing today. And I gotta say, even though I read this wayyyy back when you first wrote it, that ending still fucked me up. I'll start reading the re-write of the sequel tomorrow. :)
- Much love, your friend always, Shazz xx

I feel like the build up of the characters was rushed. It was an ok story and all ..... just rushed.
