03: Here's to New Friends

The next day was a school day, and as much as I dreaded going to school and meeting new people I was also ready to meet some new friends. I was ready for someone to give me a reason to actually enjoy living here.

I pulled up to the school and parked my car. I took a deep breath, grabbed my bag and got out. I began walking up to the school before realized I didn’t really have any idea where to go. I walked into the school and felt relieved when I saw the office close by. I walked in and the lady smiled at me.

“My name is Evelyn Sanders; I’m supposed to start today.” I told her.

“Hi, Evelyn, my name is Joy.” The woman smiled, “We’ll get your schedule printed and I’ll have someone show you around, okay?”

I nodded, relieved. Maybe today wouldn’t be as bad as I thought. Joy typed a few things into her computer and the next thing I knew her printer was whirring.

“Oh, Toni!” Joy called to a blonde girl passing the office. The girl stopped and walked into the office. “Toni, this is Evelyn. She’s new, do you mind showing her around for a few hours? I’ll put it towards your office aid extra credit.”

Toni nodded, “Of course, Ms. Joy.” Joy handed me my schedule and also handed Toni a copy.

“Okay, off you go. Have a good first day, Evelyn.” She smiled.

“Thank you,” I said and followed Toni out of the office.

“I’m Toni,” Toni smiled at me. “You have really pretty hair.”

I laughed, “thank you.” Toni nodded and we walked down the hallway and towards a set of lockers.

“This is your locker,” She said and then pointed to a set of numbers Joy had scribbled in the top of my schedule, “here’s your combination. I have to go put my stuff up and then we’ll go to the library and get your books for class checked out.”

I nodded and she walked away. I put my nearly empty school bag in my locker and closed the door. I looked in the direction Toni walked away and seen someone staring at me.

He was at least six foot tall, he had light brown hair and was built like Marcus was. He smiled when he caught my eye and walked up to me. “Hey, beautiful,” He smiled, “I’m Aaron.”

“Hey, Aaron,” I blushed.

“You must be new. I haven’t seen you around here.” He said.

I nodded, “I just moved here from New York.”

He raised his eyebrows, “Oh, couldn’t find any decent men in the city, so you had to come here, huh?”

I laughed, “Actually I have a boyfriend.”

He shrugged, “not for long.”

I opened my mouth to reply but Toni had walked up and punched Aaron on his arm. “Aaron, leave the poor girl alone.”

“Hey, I’m just introducing myself to the new girl.” Aaron winked, rubbing his arm.

Toni nodded with a smirk on her face, “Uh huh, and did you even get her name before hitting on her?”

“Uh…”

I laughed, “I’m Evelyn.” I said.

Toni shook her head and shooed Aaron off. “You’ve got to watch that one,” she explained, “the biggest flirt in the school. He knows how to get what he wants.” She mumbled something that sounded like "I wish he'd want me" but I wasn't sure I heard her correctly. Toni was gorgeous, he would be stupid not to want her.

I nodded, “Noted.”

Throughout the rest of the day Toni showed me around the school and let me sit with her, Aaron and their friends Mercedes and Dakota at lunch. I learned that she was captain on the cheerleading squad, and though it was full she said she would make room for me because she liked my hair so much. She then proceeded to make me promise to never come off the eligibility list or sleep with Aaron because she liked him. Toni was a funny character, but I liked her. Mercedes was on the cheerleading squad as well, and Dakota revealed he was on the football team with Aaron.

At the end of the day I shoved all my books into my school bag and began to head out the door, but stopped when someone called my name.

I turned around and saw Aaron jogging towards me. “Hey, sexy,” he winked when he approached me.

“Hey,” I said and he put his arm around my shoulders. “Aaron, I have a boyfriend.” I told him while shrugging his arm off me.

“I was just going to see if you wanted to come to the bar tonight with the gang and me.” He smiled.

I thought about it. I wanted to be friends with these people but I was already behind in school and had so much homework to do, including calculus which I completely sucked at. I shook my head, “I can’t, I have a lot of homework and I don’t have a fake ID.”

“Well, I can get you a fake ID for a price,” he winked and I blushed, shaking my head. “Well, if you’re sure.” I nodded. He turned to walk away but stopped. “What about your number? Can I get that in case I get too drunk tonight and need you to come take care of me?”

I smiled and wrote my number down on a piece of paper and put it in his hands. “Call me if you need a ride home.” I told him.

Later that night, I was sitting in my bedroom when the phone rang. Hoping it to be Marcus I answered it quickly.

“Hello?”

“Evelyn?”

“Who is this?” I asked.

“Aaron,” he snickered, “can I come over?”

I rolled my eyes. “Aaron, you’ve been drinking you should go home.”

“I was going to but my parents are home and they’ll get mad if they find out I’ve been drinking.” He explained, “Can I please come over, just until I sober up? I’m not that drunk, just a little tipsy, it won’t take long, please?”

I sighed. I knew this was a bad idea but I also didn’t want him to go home and get in trouble. Would he and Toni still want to be my friend after that? I didn’t know but I didn’t want to risk it. “Okay,” I told him. I gave him my address and hung up my phone.

A few minutes later the doorbell rang and I ran downstairs to answer it. “Where’s mom?” I asked my brother who was sitting on the couch doing his own homework. He shrugged. I rolled my eyes and opened the door.

Aaron stood on the porch, he had his hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans and was wearing a blue button up shirt. “Hey, baby girl.”

“I told you, I had a boyfriend,” I sighed and he walked in.

He eyeballed Ryan on the couch, I assumed he was wondering how I was related to him and then looked at me, “Where’s the bedroom?”

“Upstairs but I…” I started but he turned around and began climbing the stairs, “thought we could hang out down here.” I finished to myself before following him up the stairs.

I walked into my bedroom and saw Aaron had stripped his shirt off and was checking himself out in my mirror. “What are you doing?” I asked, picking his shirt up off the floor.

He shrugged and closed my bedroom door. “Thanks for letting me come over.”

I nodded, “you’re welcome. But you should really put this on and we should go downstairs, I don’t know what my mom would…”

He kissed me.

It took me a moment to react, and when I did I pulled away. “Aaron, stop. I have a boyfriend, and Toni really likes you.”

“Yeah,” He told me, “I know.” He picked me up and instinctively my arms went around his neck and my legs went around his hips. “See, you do like me.”

He crawled on top of the bed with me underneath him and began kissing my neck. “Aaron, stop.” He ignored me. “Hey, I’m serious!” I pushed him as hard as I could and he stopped.

“What’s wrong with you?” He laughed, “Most girls throw themselves at me.”

I shook my head, “I have a boyfriend.”

He watched me intently before grabbing his shirt and pulling it on. “That’s okay. I like what I can’t have, especially when I know I will eventually get what I want.” He winked at me and walked towards the door.

“Are you leaving? I thought you needed to sober up?” I asked, confused.

He shrugged, “I lied.” He winked at me, “I’ll show myself out.”

I sat on my bed for a few minutes trying to figure out what just happened and decided to just shake it off. I picked up the phone and decided to call Marcus, I hadn’t talked to him all day and I really missed him.

The phone rang for a couple times and then it clicked.

“Hello?” A woman’s voice.

Notes

Sorry for all the typo's in the last chapter. That's what I get for posting without reading. I'm trying to fix it, but every time I try to edit a chapter it freezes. I'll fix them as soon as I can (if I can) though.

Thank's for reading!

I love that Evelyn is seeing Zee for who he truly is <3 She just needs to come clean with him, tell that she really wants to be with him, and fuck off her fake ass “friends”. GAH! They are just so damn CUTE together. She is totally falling for him. They are made of adorable!

Just started this fic. I really want to smack Evelyn upside the head. Shallow little twit! Grow up, girl! I feel awful her friend and boyfriend pulled that shit on her. Poor thing. But she needs to drop her preconceived bullshit notions, and her fake ass preppy friends... Zacky is so sweet! And adorable. And genuine. She needs to give him an honest chance. If she hurts him, I’ll throat punch her... *laughs*
