I hate that I love you

Just the two of us

Judith's Pov
The last few days were literally the best days of my life. I enjoyed so much with Brian and his friends that I almost forgot about my dear Sue. Currently, she's angry with me just a little but I know we'll patch up soon.

This morning I woke up to the sound of Brent pounding on my door. When I opened the door and asked him what the fuck was wrong with him, Brent simply gaped at me before exclaiming loudly. "Oh, Judy!" He said dramatically, throwing his arms around me.

"Brent, are you okay?" I asked, getting seriously panicked.

"You taught you to use cuss words? Brian and his friends?" He asked, shaking his head. "I...." Seriously, did I just use a swear word? What's happened to me? "Anyways, you're wanted downstairs right now." Brent said and I looked at him.

"Why?" I asked, putting on a t-shirt over my tank top. "Long story. Dad will tell you why." He said and pulled me towards the door. "Now hurry." He said but I stopped him. "I gotta change first." I said. "You just wore a t shirt, Judy. Let's go." He said. "I have to put on some pants. I can't go downstairs in my shorts." I said, shaking my head.

"Oh, don't bother about it. Let's go." He said, dragging me with him once again.

"Brian, dad wants to see you downstairs. Right now!" Brent shouted as we stood in front of Brian's room. "Um, Brent. I seriously think I should put on some pants." I said. "Ssh, it's fine. Totally." He said and seconds later, Brian rushed out of his room.

"What are you two talking about?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at us. "Her pants." Brent said pointing at me while Brian's eyes travelled over my body.

For the first time in my life, I felt the need to cover my face so that the redness of my cheeks stays hidden. "Can we go down now?" Brent said and I snapped out of my thoughts. "Let's go." I said, throwing my arms around Brent's shoulders. We heard Brian cough as we were going down and turned to look at him.

"Aren't you coming with us?" I asked with a smile. "Yes, Judy Bear." He muttered and followed us. "What did he say?" Brent asked in confusion as I led him downstairs. "Nothing." I said, a smile lingering on the corners of my mouth.

"There they are." Suzy said when she saw us three descending downstairs. "Walk faster, kids. And sit down." Mr. Haner said and Brent almost dragged me to the couch. "Slow down, Brent. She'll get hurt." Brian said, just a little loudly. But that was enough for us all to look at him.

Brian's eyes widened just a little and his mouth was open too. "So, what's it that you wanna tell us?" He said after about ten seconds of awkward silence. "Sit down, first." Suzy said and he plopped down beside me. "What is it, dad?" Brent asked.

"Suzy and I are going to Long Beach to see you Uncle Ethan. Judith, Ethan is my cousin. He had an accident, fell down from the stairs actually. So we're going to visit him today, in fact now." Mr. Haner said.

"Can I ask something?" I said and both the brothers sitting beside me turned their gazes at me. "You said 'we're going to visit him'. And 'we' means...." I trailed off. "Good catch, Judith. 'We' means Suzy, I and Brent." Mr. Haner said with a warm smile and I sighed in relief.

"Why me and not Brian?" Brent protested, gaping at his dad. "Brian's old enough to manage the house, himself and Judith, I suppose." Suzy said and I turned to see Brian. His expression was unreadable, totally.

"Will you be able to handle everything here?" Mr. Haner asked and Brian said, "Yes, dad."

"I was saying that to Judith. Dear, will you be able to handle the house, yourself and him?" Mr. Haner said, pointing at Brian when he said 'him'. I looked at hin surprised and then at Brian who also seemed amazed.

"Me?" I asked and he nodded. "God, this is confusing. Can you both take care of the house and each other?" Suzy asked with a smile. "Sure, why not?" Brian said and I nodded too. "Great. We leave in two hours." Mr. Haner said and disappeared. "Start packing, Brent." Suzy said, following Mr. Haner.

"Oh god, I don't wanna go." Brent said, banging his head on my arm. "You must go, your uncle had an accident." I said, patting his shoulder. "Fine." He said, looking at me. "Did you really get hurt when I pulled you on the couch?" He asked and I shook my head.

"Brent, I'm not a porcelain doll. Chill." I said with a chuckle and Brent looked at Brian. "Brian, she's not a porcelain doll. Chill." He said and went to his room. I laughed silently at Brent's words and looked at Brian.

"Why'd you freak out?" I asked him.

"I, um, thought he might hurt you." He said, looking down.

"It's good to know that you care, it really means a lot." I said, patting on his shoulder. Back in Atlanta, it was only Mom who used to be actually caring and really protective of me. Other than her, I never really saw anyone else bothering about me that much.

"Two." Brian mumbled and I looked at him curiously. "Two what?" I asked and he looked at me. "Nothing." He said and got up quickly. "Brian, what?" I said, looking up at him. "Nothing, Judith." He said as his face started to turn a little red. Before I could say anything, he disappeared too.

I went upstairs and decided to call Mom.

"Yes, Mom. Everything is fine, my health, my studies and also my hair." I joked, pacing in my room. "And are you getting along with everyone there?" She asked. "Yeah, Mom. Don't worry." I said, stepping in my balcony.

"Shit." I heard a voice and saw Brian in his balcony, smoking again. I shot him a grin as he tried to hide the cigarette. "Mom, I'll call you later. I'm need to talk to Suzy about a few things." I said with a smirk as Brian widened his eyes.

"Is that really tasty or something?" I asked him, hanging up. "It's refreshing actually." He said and I made a face. "From which angle?" I asked and he smirked. "You wouldn't understand, Judy." He said, shaking his head.

"Oh my god, Suzy!" I screamed, pointing my finger beside Brian as he threw away his cigarette and jumped almost a feet high. I saw the panic on his face and clutched my belly, laughing uncontollably. "Got you." I said, between my laughs.

"You're gonna pay for that." Brian almost growled and jumped over the railing, landing right in front of me in my balcony.

"How'd you do that?" I gasped. "It's a child's play for me. And now it's payback time for you!" He said, coming closer. "That was so cool! I'm gonna try it now." I said and started to climb the railing. "What? Judith!" Brian said and held me by my shoulders from behind while I looked at him.

"What?" I asked, lifting my eyebrows. "You can't jump from here!" He said, terrified. "Why not?" I asked. "What if you fall down?" He asked. "Brian, nothing will happen. It was awesome how you jumped over here. I wanna do it too." I said, trying to free myself from his death grip.

"Fine. But I'm not watching you die." He let go of me and closed his eyes. I smiled, looking at his posture and went inside my room. "Did you break your bones yet?" I heard him said as I sat on my bed.

"Ahhhhh!!" I screamed, not too loudly, causing Brian to look down my balcony. "Judith!" I heard him say and a second later, he runs out to my room, attempting to go and tell everyone outside about me.

"Got you again." I said just as he was about to turn the door knob. He looked at me as relief washed over his face. "Thank fucking god!" He said, coming over to sit beside me as I chuckled at his tactics.

"You really thought I had jumped?" I asked, trying not to laugh. "That wasn't funny at all, Judith."He said, looking at me seriously. After a minute of silence, I spoke up. " A while ago down there, you said 'two'. Two what?" I asked and he shifted uncomfortably.

"Really, it's nothing." He said. "Suzy, Brian was smoking. Again!" I said loudly as Brian's eyes almosg came out of his sockets. "Judith!" He said, putting his hand over my mouth. I managed to push away his hand and laughed.

"Will you tell me now? What was that 'two' about?" I asked. "Not now." He insisted. "Then when?" I asked. "Well, in an hour we'll be alone in the house. Just the two of us. I'll tell you then. Happy?" He said in a deep voice, the same tone that creates goosebumps on my skin.

I narrowed my eyes at hin as he gave out a deep chuckle. "What, are you scared or something?" He asked. "Never, I'm not a chicken like you." I said, sticking out my tongue at him. He quickly caught it between his fingers, causing me to shove him away.

"That's gross!" I said, punching his arm playfully. "For you. See ya." He said, wiggling his eyebrows and once again, jumped into his balcony.

Just the two of us....hmm, doesn't sound bad. Or scary, as a matter of fact.
