Avery’s POV

“Here you are ladies, the Brandon specialty drink, created by yours truly,” Trevor said with a smile as he passed Maya and I each a red Solo cup filled to the brim with a bright pink liquid.

I cautiously eyed the drink, praying that there wasn’t Tequila in it. Oh, that little devil was what made me sick last night, and damn Zack for making me take all those shots with him! Just thinking about it was making me a little queasy. Maybe drinking wasn’t the best idea right now.

“What’s in it?” I raised a brow at him only to receive a charming smile in return.

“That Miss Jacobson is a family secret, now drink up,” Trevor teased, coaxing the rim of the cup up to my lips. “I promise you’ll like it. When I was a bar tender a few years ago all the ladies begged me to make these for them.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me and I couldn’t help but giggle.

“Well, if it’s a secret family, you’ll have to let me in on the recipe because this is amazing! It doesn’t even taste like alcohol,” Maya raved, downing half of her drink in seconds. Apparently last night’s activities didn’t affect her at all and she was ready to go again. I was envious of her for that because just thinking about drinking was making me nauseous.

“Well if it doesn’t taste like alcohol, I guess I can drink it,” I said, smelling the drink’s fruity flavor. “I just can’t have another night like last night,” I sighed only for Maya to burst out laughing. “And I don’t know why you think it’s so funny that I can’t remember very much,” I accused, pointing my finger in her direction before taking a sip of my drink.

The moment the liquid hit my tongue, I closed my eyes at let out a light moan. It tasted like an exotic tropical punch and I swear I had never tasted a drink so smooth. Maya was right; it didn’t taste like alcohol at all! “Wow! This is amazing, Trev,” I practically moaned taking another long sip.

“Whoa, easy now,” Trevor said, putting his arm around me and pulling me into his side. “There is a lot of alcohol and we don’t want the night to get out of hand,” he teased. “Wouldn’t want to give you two nights in a row you don’t remember.”

“Aint that the truth,” Maya laughed before finishing her drink in record timing. “Don’t want to do another repeat of the Jason incident from our first tour,” she teased and I felt my face flush crimson.

Trevor raised a brow as he made another round of drinks. “What Jason incident?” he asked, his dark eyes meeting mine. I ducked my head as my face flushed even bright red. God I was pretty sure I looked like a tomato by now! Please for the love of God don’t tell Trevor this story! I was already embarrassed about my actions enough. I didn’t need Maya telling him about how I slept with Jason over three years ago.

Maya snorted with laughter and pulled me into her side, obviously already starting to feel good from her drink. “Oh, just when my little gnome here had too much to drink on our first tour with the guys and slept with a certain Berry brother…. Thinking it was Mr. Haner,” she teased, elbowing me in the side as I quickly downed the rest of my drink.

“But we weren’t together then! I was single,” I clarified only for Maya to dramatically roll her eyes at me.

“Well hopefully you didn’t do anything like that last night,” Trevor warned, shaking his head before passing Maya and I another drink. “Wouldn’t want you to jeopardize your upcoming marriage with Haner,” he said as I chocked on my drink.

Oh, god I didn’t do anything stupid last night, did I? Was that why Maya and the Berrys kept teasing me? The only thing I remembered was playing strip pong and smoking a joint! Did I do something stupid after that? And why did MB’s say things were less awkward between Jason and I when we were drunk? Did they know something I didn’t? I felt my chest start to heave up and down as panic coursed through my veins. I wouldn’t have done anything stupid with Brian by my side, right? No, I couldn’t have…

I quickly took another sip of my drink, hoping the alcohol would calm me down a little bit. “Are you kidding me? Have you seen those two together,” Maya laughed as someone turned on the music.

I guess it was time for the party to finally start, telling me that the guys had finally finished their show. Part of me felt guilty for not being there when Brian walked off stage. I just hoped he wouldn’t be too upset with me.

“Gates and Ave are practically obsessed with each other. They would never do anything to ruin their perfect union. But enough about that,” Maya continued, grabbing my hand. It was then that I noticed the unreadable expression on Trevor’s face. Was he okay? Was something wrong with him? Only I didn’t have time to ask because the next thing I knew Maya was dragging me toward the dance floor. “Let’s dance!”

I laughed as I threw my arms in the air, moving my hips to the fast driving bass of the music. Oh, I loved this song! I moved up next to Maya, singing and dancing with her as a light buzz from the alcohol started to take over my system. This had honestly been one of the best days we’d had in a long time, with the successful planning, the date, the very heated make out session, and now being surrounded by friends, it couldn’t get much better. And the fact that I had a good buzz going didn’t hurt that either. Damn I felt so good and the only thing that would make it better would be Brian dancing with me.

And as if on cue, I felt a pair of strong arms land on my hips and gently pull me backward as my hips swayed to the beat. I smiled and leaned back, letting my ass rub right into his crotch in a seductive way as I reached back to press myself closer to him. Oh, I was going to make up with not meeting him backstage after the show. Not to mention that I apparently owed him after last night…

“Mmm…It’s about time you— Jason?” I gasped, noticing that it wasn’t Brian who had appeared behind me at all. I quickly pulled away and bit down on my bottom lip, a deep blush falling over my face for the millionth time today.

“Well, if I knew I was going to get this kind of a welcome, I would have searched for you harder,” Jason teased, looking down at me with a flirtatious smile on his lips.

“What do you mean searched harder?” Maya asked, still swaying her hips to the beat as she moved closer. It was only then that I noticed Trevor standing in our small circle too. Had he been dancing with us the whole time? I guess I was too engrossed with dancing, the music, and my drink to notice. And speaking of my drink, when did it get refilled again?

“The guys have been looking all over for you two,” Jason clarified as he stepped closer to me. “You were there dancing on the side of the stage one minute and the next you were gone. Where the hell did you girls go?” he asked, looking between Maya and I.

“We went to the after party to get some drinks,” I explained, looking between Maya and Trevor with a small smile. “And you need to taste this drink Trev made, it’s freaking amazing! It may even be better than Jimmy’s special drink, but don’t tell him I said so,” I giggled before pushing my glass into Jason’s hand.

Jason eyed the glass suspiciously and slowly took a sip, his eyes never leaving Trevor. Did he really not trust him? “Isn’t it great!” I gushed, taking my cup back and taking another big sip. “It’s really hitting the spot!”

“It’ okay,” Jason said, pulling Maya and I into his sides. “But listen, we better take you girls to Shads and Gates because they looked like they were about to blow a gasket when they couldn’t find you.”

A frown fell over my face as I shared a look with Maya. The guys were worried about us? I felt a wave of guilt wash over me as Jason lead us through the slowly growing crowd. “Matt!” Maya cried and vanished, leaving Jason and I alone to forge the crowd.

“Ave! There you are!” Zacky called, pulling me into his arms as soon as he reached us. Jason signed but reluctantly let me go. “Where the hell did you go? Did you want to see the end of the show?”

“I did, but Trevor wanted to get some drinks,” I explained, flashing Trevor a small smile as he appeared next to Jason. He was our guest on tour and I wanted to make sure that he felt comfortable and welcome. I just hoped the guys wouldn’t be too made at us. “I’m sorry I missed the end of the show… please don’t be upset with me, Zee.”

A smile fell over Zack’s face before he leaned down and kissed my cheek. “How could I be mad at you, Little Gnome?” he chuckled. “I’m just glad I found you, because now I can get my dance in before Gates drags you away.”

“Hey, you’ve got to wait your turn, Vee,” Jason challenged, grabbing my arm, spinning me around, pulling me back towards him, and dipping me lightly. I giggled as he placed me back on my feet, my head spinning lightly from the alcohol.

“Actually, I already called dibs,” Trevor corrected and I looked between the three men with wide eyes. “Isn’t that right, Ave?”

I opened and closed my mouth a few times, trying to think straight. I honestly didn’t remember anyone asking me to dance except for Maya and the person I really wanted to dance with wasn’t anywhere to be seen. Where was Brian anyway?

“I honestly don’t remember who asked me when,” I replied with a frown as I stood on my tiptoes looking my spiky-haired fiancé. He had to be around here somewhere, right?

God I couldn’t wait to greet him with a deep kiss to let him know how much I missed him. I just couldn’t stop thinking about the way he pushed me against the wall, his lips ravishing my exposed flesh. Damn, I needed a smoke to calm down.

“Have any of you seen Brian?” I asked, looking between the three guys who were still arguing over who was going to dance with me first.

“I think I just saw him go out for a smoke,” Trevor said, though I didn’t understand why he had a small smile on his face. Did I miss something? “How ‘bout I take you out there?” Oh, thank god we were going out for a smoke! “You know to, make sure you find Haner?”

“Go get a drink Trev, I’ll take her,” Jason said. The next thing I knew he pulled me onto his back and raced through the crowd toward the back door. I let out a shriek and wrapped my arms tightly around his neck, begging him to put me down. “Jason put me down! I can walk on my own!” I giggled. “Please put me down!”

“I just wanted to make sure you get outside without anyone squashing you, little gnomette,” he teased, placing my feet back on the pavement once we were outside. “Wouldn’t want you to get hurt.”

“Haha, very funny, Jay,” I rolled my eyes and pulled out my pack of cigarettes, enjoying the coolness of the evening. I placed a smoke between my lips, lit up, and inhaled the sweet nicotine. Oh, that was the stuff right there. “Nice short joke.”

“Hey, it’s not my fault you’re only about five feet tall!” he countered, lighting up his own cigarette. “Plus I’d hate for your feet to hurt in those heels. They look painful.”

I threw my head back with a laugh and leaned against the wall. Jason was always so funny and so thoughtful. I was glad that we were friends after our complicated history. “They actually aren’t bad at all,” I admitted, kicking one of them up to look at just as Trevor came out the door with drinks in his hand.

“Did you find, Haner?” Trevor asked after passing Jason and I another drink.

“No, he wasn’t out here,” I frowned, only to see Jason looking at Trevor and shaking his head. Did Jason disapprove of Trevor? I quickly pushed the thought away and took a sip of my new drink, enjoying the nice buzz I had.

“His loss,” Trevor shrugged, leaning against the wall next to me. “Because you look gorgeous tonight, Ave. If I were your fiancé, I wouldn’t let you out of my sight. I’d be too afraid someone would try to steal you away. Am I right, Jason?” he asked, smirking at Jason with a knowing look on his face that I didn’t quite understand. What was he talking about?

Jason narrowed his eyes and shrugged his shoulders, his jaw tightening ever so slightly. “We all know better,” he said and I raised a brow at him, taking another sip from my drink and a puff of my cigarette. “Besides we’re all family here.”

“So I’ve heard,” Trevor muttered, putting an arm around my shoulders as he turned to look at me with a smile. “Oh, and before I forget, Maya wants you to meet her by the bar after your smoke break,” he said, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear. I game him a small smile before finishing my cigarette and kicking the butt into the ashtray.

“Did she say what she wanted?” I asked after finishing my drink. By now my head was really starting to spin and all I could think about was those stunning brown eye. In my opinion, it had been way too long since I had seen them. Hell, just thinking about Brian was making my heart race in my chest.

“No, just that she wanted to tell you something about the wedding. I guess she had some epic idea,” Trevor shrugged. “But we better go find her before she forgets or Sanders drags her away.” And wasn’t that the truth—give Matt a free minute with Maya and he would take her for the whole night. I learned that the hard way a long time ago.

Trevor took my hand and pulled me back inside the loud room, the change in dynamics almost defining on my ears. “She was over here,” he said, dragging me through the crowd to the very familiar mop of brown hair.

“Ave!” she cried, turning around and pulling me into her arms. I couldn’t help but smile and move to the beat of the music with her, hardly noticing MB looking at us with a smile. “Where have you been all my life?”

“Just out for a smoke,” I laughed, turning around so we ground up against each other as we danced. “Did you find Matt?” I asked, watching Maya throw her hands up in the air as she jumped up and down to the beat of the song. There was no stopping that girl from dancing her life away. I swear she never got tired.

“No, I only found, MB,” she said with a light frown. “How about you? Did you find Brown Eyes?”

“No…” I sighed, leaning back into her drunkenly. “But I wish I did… I miss his stunning brown eyes… oh and that ass! I could just—”

“Sorry to break up your dance party,” Trevor said, pulling both of us into his arms. “But I couldn’t help but overhear that the guys just went out towards the bus.”

“They went to the bus?” I asked, my eyes lighting up. Is that where he had been hiding all night? “What are we waiting for? Let’s go find them!” Maya said, grabbing my arm and pulling me back out the door with Trevor right behind us.

Maya and I pushed our way through the crowd toward the door, the cool air hitting us as soon as we reached the darkness. I couldn’t wait to find Brian and cuddle into the warmth of his arms. Oh, I could already feel his lips kissing up my neck as he whispered sweet nothings in my ear. Hell, I had goose bumps just thinking about it.

“Oh! Brian is calling!” Maya sang, pulling out her phone that was screaming one of Brains’ guitar solos. I instantly froze and turned toward Maya with wide eyes. Why didn’t Brian call my phone? Wait a minute… where was my phone.

“Hello Brown Eyes, it’s about time you called,” Maya giggled drunkenly, pushing me away as I tried to take the phone away. “No, no, no, we are okay. We are actually looking for you!”

Suddenly I felt someone grab me around the waist and spin me around in a circle. I let out a loud shriek and looked down to see Jason holding me in his arms. “Jason stop it! Put me down!” I giggled, drunkenly trying to squirm away from him. “Jason! Stop!”

“Ave, come on calm down, you’re drunk,” Jason said, holding me still and looking me straight in the eye. Oh, he was serious. “What are guys doing out here?” he asked, one I stopped fighting him.

“We are going to find the guys on the bus,” I explained, turning to point at the bus only to see Trevor talking on the phone now. Who were they talking to again? In all the spinning and my drunken state, I had complete forgot. I just knew that I was looking for Brian.

Jason raised a brow at me and then followed my gaze over to Trevor and Maya. “Are you sure they are on the bus?” he asked, looking into my eyes.

“I think so… at least that’s what we were told.” Why did he look so serious right now? “What’s wrong?” I asked, gently touching his face.

“I just don’t like you running around with that guy,” he said, letting go of me. “There is just something off about him…” he mused and I threw my head back with a laugh. Were we talking about the same guy?

“You’re worried about Trevor?” I laughed as Maya appeared at my side with a small smile on her face. She was just as drunk as I was. “He’s harmless. He’s been nothing but a good friend and you have nothing to worry about. I promise,” I slurred before turning to look back at him.

Jason hung his head with a sigh just as Trevor came up behind us and put his arms around both our shoulders. “Just make sure they find the guys,” Jason warned. “And keep them safe.”

“Don’t worry, I just talked to Haner,” Trevor said, pulling me even closer. “I will make sure the guys find them. The girls are safe with me.”

Matt’s POV

I couldn’t fucking believe the night had turned out this way! I was out of my mind with worry about where the hell Maya. I mean, one minute she was standing the side of the stage with Ave and her brother and the next minutes she was gone. And to make matters worse, when I arrived at the after party she wasn’t anywhere to be seen. Where the hell did she go? It wasn’t like her to run off without telling me where she was going, especially in the middle of the show.

I quickly scanned the crowd for the fiftieth time looking for that mop of dark hair and those beautiful tattoos, but the only thing I found was Gates. He was standing next to the bar, undoubtedly looking for Avery through the crowd. Though it didn’t look like he was having much luck either. “Have you seen the girls?” I asked, joining him at the bar. “I can’t find Maya anywhere,” I said and Brian turned to me shaking his head.

“I cant find Ave either, and I’ve looked fucking everywhere. I’ve seen a glimpse of her here and there and then she just fucking vanishes!” he sighed, running his hands over his face. He looked like a he was loosing his mind with worry, and I wasn’t far behind him. I hated not knowing where Maya was. It just left this unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach. “I’ve even checked the loading dock smoking area. It’s like she fucking disappeared.”

“Did you try calling her?” I asked as he pulled out his phone. I had tried Maya once but it just kept ringing. Fuck, I hated when she didn’t answer her phone.

“Yeah, and I’ve got the voicemail, twice now. It’s not like her phone to be dead…” Gates said, searching the crowd again. “I swear if Jimmy took them on some secret mission, I’ll fucking kill him.”

I quickly scanned the crowd again only to notice that Jimmy wasn’t anywhere to be seen. “We warned him no more secret missions,” I growled, clenching my fists.

“Well you know Jimmy,” Brian grumbled, his jaw locking with anger. “He only does what the ‘knife master’ wants.” He rolled his eyes and finished off the rest of what I assumed to be scotch in his glass.

“Should we go looking for them? I mean, he was acting odd this morning at breakfast. Wasn’t he hanging over Maya and Avery before we talked about Trevor coming?”

“Fucking hell,” Gates hissed. “Besides it’s not like Ave to disappear and not even leave a note or message… or pick up her phones… Jimmy had to have done something with them, don’t you think?” Brain asked and I let out a long sigh.

“Fuck…Yeah… we’ve got to do something. I can’t just sit around and wait for M to appear. I’ll lose my fucking mind,” I admitted, running my hands over my face. This wasn’t at all how I wanted this night to go. “But the question is, where the hell would Jimmy take them?”

“Who the fuck knows,” Gates grumbled, refilling his glass. “Probably in the last fucking place we look.” And he wasn’t wrong, Jimmy liked to hide in the most unusual places. “Well let’s start there. If you were Jimmy where would you take two drunk girls?”

Gates pursed his lips as he thought for a minute, swirling the scotch in his glass. “Let’s try the dressing room or the wardrobe trailer. I’ve seen him there before when I’ve been out smoking,” he said.

As we moved outside I was getting a little more frustrated, I planned on having a nice evening with Maya, just a little parting and dancing before I whisked her away to the bus, before we returned to the hotel. But I didn’t think of me spending all the evening alone and it fucked sucked. Maya had better show up soon or I was going to fucking snap.

“Try calling Jimmy,” I hissed, clenching my fists as we neared the dressing room trailers. I swear if he had Maya I would rip him a new asshole. He knew I didn’t like to share, especially with all this press shit going on.

“It’s busy?” Gates said, looking down at his phone in confusion. “The Rev’s phone is never busy. What the fuck?”

“That bastard is definitely up to something,” I groaned, increasing my pace toward the dressing room.

Within seconds Brian and I crashed through the door to find Jimmy laying on the couch with his phone, laughing loudly. What the fuck? “That is fucking hilarious, babe! You’ll be the queen of the universe if you keep that up!” he laughed, his blue eyes sparkling mischievously.

“Where the hell are they?” I snapped, looking around the room to find it empty. My stomach instantly dropped and I felt like I was going to be sick. The girls had to be here! Where the fuck else would they be?

Jimmy sat up and looked at me with a confused look. “Where are who? The girls?” he asked as Gates went from room-to-room searching for them. “I have no idea. I haven’t seen them all night.”

“Then who the hell are you talking to?” I asked, clenching my fists in frustration. Where the hell were they? Jimmy turned his phone around to reveal Jess on Face Time and I let out a loud sigh. “Fuck! Where the hell would they go?”

“I don’t know, but I’m going to try calling Maya,” Gates said, pulling out his phone again. Within three seconds his eyes lit up and he motioned me over to him. “Maya? Maya? Can you hear me?” he asked, my heart palpitating in my chest. He got ahold of her. Was she okay?

“Put her on speaker phone!” I demanded, feeling like I was going to pass out.

As he pushed the button, I heard some commotion in the background. Was that Ave talking or slurring rather?

“Hello Brown Eyes, it’s about time you called,” Maya giggled drunkenly, and I let our a sigh of relief. She was okay… thank fucking god.

“Where are you? Are you girls okay? Are you hurt?” Brain asked all at once and Maya just laughed again.

“No, no, no, we are okay. We are actually looking for you!” They were looking for us? What did she mean they were looking for us?

“Where are you, babe?” I asked just as I heard a loud scream in the background. Gates and I exchanged a startled expression before we heard Ave laughing in the background. “Jason stop it! Put me down!” she cried and Gates instantly tensed. He looked like he was about ready to jump through the phone and kill our drum tech.

“Maya?” I asked again, only hearing static again in the background. “Maya can you hear me?”

“Maya put Ave on the phone now,” Brian hissed, yanking his phone away from me. I still didn’t know what the big deal was. He knew Avery only had eyes for him and yet he still let her friendship with Jason get to him. When would he learn to let the past go?

“Hello, Haner?” an eerily familiar voice came over the phone. I instantly clenched my fist, my jaw stiffening. So this was Trevor’s fault.

“Trevor?” Gates and I both said through clenched teeth. “Where are you guys? What are you doing with the girls? We’ve been fucking looking for you all night,” Brian snapped.

“Oh, you have?” he replied in a bored tone that made my blood boil. “We’ve been having too much fun at the after party. I’ve just been trying to keep up with the girls. They are wild, let me just tell you that, especially with the Berry brothers,” he said and I swear the vein in Gates’ neck was going to explode.

“Where are you?” I growled, tired of playing these games. I was starting to get the feeling that Trevor had been playing a game of cat and mouse all night. Would he be that bold? I didn’t know but if he fucked with me I would put him in his place.

“I’m not quite sure,” Trevor mused. “I’d ask Jason where he took us but he’s too busy with Ave right now. They are very friendly… you’d almost think they were more than friends.”

“You tell that fucker to keep his hands to himself,” Gates hissed, pointing a finger at the phone. “I swear if he thinks he’s going to—”

“Just tell us where you are, Trevor,” I interrupted. “Or put Maya back on,” I urged, hoping the bastard would make a good choice.

“What was that? Sorry you’re breaking up…” he said, the line suddenly turning fuzzy again. Fuck, don’t drop the call!

“Where are you? If you don’t know, meet us back at the party,” I said but I didn’t know if he heard me because the line had gone dead. “Fuck!” I hissed, pushing the phone back into Gates’ hands.

“Did you find out where they are?” Gates asked, his chest slowly heaving up and down as he worked to control whatever demons he was battling.

“No,” I snapped, storming back out the door. “But I hope for their sake that they come back to the party or I’m going to fucking kill him.”
