Fact or fiction?

Trevor’s POV

I couldn’t believe how easily these girls were falling for my plan. It was child’s play! Honestly I would have come back years ago if I had known it was this easy to derail Maya’s perfect life. She was eating right out of the palm of my hand I knew it wouldn’t be long before I had little Avery right there behind her. All I had to do was dig up some more dirt, start planting seeds of distrust in her relationships, and take away everything Maya loved, just like she did to me.

The first step was to take Sanders completely out of the picture, which was becoming easier and easier while he was on the road. A few deleted texts here, intercepted calls there, and my darling sister and Ave were miserable. I could see the ‘perfect couples’ slowly pulling at the seams and I couldn’t be happier. Now all I needed to do was cause a big tear in their relationships, and what better way to do that than to dig deeper into the Asking Alexandria scandal.

The only problem was the girls were making it nearly impossible for to do any detective work. They were everywhere I turned, never letting me out of their sight. Sure, I liked the attention and trust I was gaining, but if I was going to move forward I needed to do some more digging in the girls lives.

I needed some juicy little secrets that could burn a hole in my sister’s relationship with Sanders but that was proving more difficult than I thought. I had secretly acquired the texts between Maya and the Asking Alexandria guitarist while she was in the shower this morning, but it wasn’t enough. She had to be hiding something more… damaging. And if she wasn’t, then I’m sure sexy little Avery was. Those two were as thick as thieves so one of them had to be hiding something that could break their ties with those Avenged assholes.

But where to get that information and how to use it? I bet the media would line up to have that inside scoop. Oh, with the right information I could ruin everything and become rich in the process!

I smirked to myself as I made my way down the empty hallway toward the bedroom. Maya had completely fallen for my sleeping act, leaving me alone for a few hours to search the house for her dirty little secrets. The only question was where to start?

I remembered seeing stacks of notebooks lying around the office and bedroom. Maybe if I was lucky Maya had kept a diary of her affair with the guitarist or even someone else. Yes, that was the perfect plan! Oh, darling sister I will find out your secrets and you will wish you never let me back into your life. I quickly made my way into the bedroom and picked up the first notebook and started flipping through it.

“Come on, there has to be something I can use,” I muttered to myself as I flipped through notebook after notebook in Maya’s room. Unfortunately it seemed that my darling sister didn’t keep a diary. No all she had were these stupid sketchbooks full of drawings. The closest thing I got to dirty secrets were the little notes written in the corner of pages like, ‘make this for Big Guy’. Just the thought of it made me sick.

I slammed the last notebook closed and tossed it back into the pile on the floor. Well, if she didn’t write a diary then I was going to have to think of another means of getting information. Hmm…where would Maya keep information about her personal affairs? Her computer? Too bad she had it with her at all times for work purposes. I would just have to find a time to sneak through some files. But in the meantime, I needed a new plan.

Without another thought, I opened the door to the walk-in closet and started to search through the drawers in the back. “Well, well, well, what is this?” I chuckled, pulling out a crumpled up piece of paper from the back of the drawer. It looked like Maya hadn’t thrown away everything from her past.

Maya, please don’t give up on what we had” I laughed as I read the hand written note. “I love you and I don’t want to lose you over a stupid fight. Please forgive me for being a jealous ass and enjoy these tickets.Love— Damn it! Fucking Sanders,” I hissed crumpling it up and throwing it back into the drawer. That’s not what I wanted to read! I was hoping it was a note from her other lover, but I guess all she had were those risqué text.

It seemed like every time I found something that it ended up backfiring on me. Come on, these girls had to be hiding something that I could use! Did I have to get them drunk to get the information I wanted? Now that wasn’t such a bad idea…hmm what excuse could I use to pull out alcohol in mass quantities? I knew the glass of wine the girls had every night wasn’t going to make them divulge their secrets but maybe a few mixed drinks would…

“Yes, I think that’s a great idea, Ave,” my sister’s voice lofted up the stairs followed by the sound of the front door closing. They were back already? Where had the day gone? “I just need to pack and make sure Trevor has a key for the house before we go.”

What did she mean before they go? Where were they going? Oh, right that stupid concert that Sanders gave them tickets to was this weekend. The last thing I needed was to let them get away from me with free contact with Sanders and Haner. It would ruin all of my hard work. I had to find away to tag along on their ‘girls weekend’.

“Do you think he’ll be okay here by himself?” Not if I had anything to say about it.

“I don’t know but we can’t really bring him with us, can we? The show is sold out,” Maya replied to Avery just as I stepped out into the hallway. My eyes instantly traveled over the little blonde in her cut off shorts and teal crop top that was sadly partially covered by a thin white cardigan sweater. She look more an more appetizing by the day but that wasn’t my focus right now. Maybe I could try and sway her to my side when I had her and my sister drunk later.

“What was that about bringing me somewhere?” I asked as I stepped up behind the girls who hadn’t noticed me standing in the hallway. They both jumped in surprise and I couldn’t help but laugh at their frightened expressions.

“You scared the crap out me, Trev,” Avery said, holding her chest and taking in a deep breath. I couldn’t help but watch her chest rise and fall through the thin material in her tank top. What I would give to pull it off with my teeth and hear her moan my name. It would only be a matter of time and that much I was certain.

“Yeah, what were you thinking sneaking up on us like that!” Maya scolded, playfully hitting me in the arm. “You could have given us a heart attach!”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I just heard my name and was curious as to what you were talking about,” I said, playing dumb. Oh, I would be going with them to that concert tonight—mark my words. Trevor Brandon was a master manipulator and these girls were becoming putty in my hands.

Maya sighed and looked at Avery, her eyes filling with what I assumed to be guilt. “Well, you see Trev, Ave and I are going to the concert and girls weekend that Matt and Brian booked for us,” she said hesitantly. “And I was just saying that I would need to give you the spare house key for while we’re gone.”

“Oh,” I said with a growing frown. “I see… When do you leave?”

“We leave tonight.” I could tell just from the look of Maya’s face that her guilt was growing and I was about to put the final nail in the coffin.

“Oh,” I sighed again. “Well I guess I just sit here alone all weekend since you left without me this morning… but don’t worry, I’m used to it. I’ve been alone for years now.”

Maya opened and closed her mouth a few times before she looked at Ave with pleading eyes. “It’s not that we want to leave you alone it’s just that the show—”

“No need to explain,” I raised my hands to stop her mid sentence, pleased that I was getting to her so easily. “I’ll just find some more business work to do and tidy up the house. You girls have fun.” I put on a brave smile and moved to turn away but Maya caught my arm, just as I knew she would.

“Wait, Trev,” she said, her brown eyes meeting mine. “What if you come with us to the hotel? That way we can have some drinks, spend some time together, and have a good weekend out of town. We’ll only be gone for a few hours at the concert anyway but you could order whatever you wanted from room service,” Maya said quickly, flying off the seat of her pants in attempt to make me happy. This was so easy!

“That’s very kind, but I wouldn’t want to impose on your girls weekend,” I said, looking directly at Avery who was now chewing on her bottom lip. Her baby-blues instantly darted away when we made eye contact. She was really warming up to me and about time. I’d only been here for over a week now!

“It would be fun if you tagged along,” Avery finally said and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Well then it’ settled, Trev is coming with us and we all need to pack. We leave in—”

COME BACK TO ME IT’S ALMOST EASY! COME BACK AGAIN IT’S ALMOST EASY! Maya’s phone screamed with the sound of Sander’s voice. Was that really her ringtone for him? Very tacky little sister.

Nonetheless, Maya’s face instantly lit up and I had to fight the urge to gag when she answered the phone. “Babe? Oh it’s so good to hear from you,” Maya gushed before heading into the bedroom.

“Oh and speaking of phones,” I continued, watching the little blonde pull out her phone If Maya was talking to Sanders then Haner wouldn’t be far behind in trying to contact Avery. I had to put a stop to it if I was going to get her into my bed anytime soon. “Do you mind if I borrow yours Ave? I was on business call before you came home but it kept dropping. It seems my service is pretty spotty in here,” I lied, knowing that I was taking advantage of the girl’s kindhearted nature to sabotage her relationship. Did I really care? Nope.

Avery glanced down at her phone and opened and closed her mouth a few times before a sad frown spread over her face. “Yeah, go for it,” she sighed. “It’s not like Brian’s going to call if I haven’t heard from him all day.”

“Don’t say that, Ave,” I said, trying not to show my delight in that news. “I’m sure he will call soon. If he calls while I’m on the phone I’ll let you know right away. Okay?” I placed my hand gently on her shoulder and gave her soft skin a light squeeze. “And for the record, he’s an idiot for not texting someone that he supposedly cares so much about. If I had a fiancé like you, I’d call her every couple of hours to check in.”

Ave’s frown deepened as she chewed her bottom lip and twisted her hands in front of her. “He’s just busy working…”

“Yeah, you’re right,” I nodded. “He’s probably got some kind of signing or something with all their crazy fans hanging all over him. That would explain it. I just hope he isn’t taking his roll as the sexy guitar god too seriously.”

“What do you mean?” Ave asked, her beautiful blue eyes swimming with doubt and concern.

“Nah, its nothing. Its just rumors I’ve read in magazines and tabloids. I don’t know the guy like you do so I’m sure its all just stories,” I waved off my comment, which only made a crease form on the little blonde’s forehead. “We’ll I’ve got that phone call to make. I’ll bring back your phone soon. Thanks again, Ave.”

By the time I shut the guestroom door behind me, I was already looking though all of Avery’s text messages. Most of them were between her and Brian but some of the most recent ones were from a guy named James. Well, that was certainly interesting, wasn’t it? Wasn’t that the name of the drummer for Asking Alexandria? “Let’s take a look at his contact picture…”

Sure enough his contact picture was an image of said drummer with Avery wrapped up in his lap. What would Brian say if he knew his fiancé was frequently talking to this guy? Did they have a relationship? The texts didn’t tell me as much as the ones I found between Bruce and Maya, but they did open the door for possibilities. I mean, why else would the guy say ‘I miss you’ ever other text? Something was definitely going on or had gone on there and I was going to find out more.

I quickly hooked Avery’s phone to my computer and transferred all of the texts that I could use in the future. I’m sure the press would find these conversations with Asking Alexandria very interesting, especially since the girls were dating the metal heartthrobs, as the tabloid mentioned. I just needed a little bit more information before I made my next move and what better way to get it than to get the alcohol flowing. Yes, the girls would be spilling their secrets before they even got to the concert…

After all the messages had transferred onto my laptop, I started going through Avery’s notes and web browsers to see what else she may have been hiding. Online shopping, business receipts, Avenged media searches, and a whole lot of wedding stuff. Well wasn’t blondy boring? Where were the juicy secrets? Don’t tell me she was still as sweet and naïve as she was in high school when I stole her first kiss?

Just as I went to shut her phone off, it binged with a new text and I smirked to myself. “Perfect timing, Mr. Haner…just as planned.” Man these couples were getting predictable.

Hey Babe, sorry I have texted before now. It’s been crazy and service sucks. Have a few minutes to call? Love Bri

I laughed as I read the text. Yeah, sure he was busy and had bad service. I bet that news would appease sweet little Avery - that is if she ever saw this text. Over my dead body! The longer I broke apart their contact the closer and closer she got to me and I wasn’t about to lose that.

At the shop. Sorry Really busy. Ave

I typed back and it wasn’t more than a few seconds later that I got a reply.

Well text me when you have a free minute. We’ve got a show tonight and I’d really like to hear your voice before then. Maybe even Skype? Call me, I’ll answer when I can. Love and miss you. Love, Bri.

I laughed at his reply and quickly deleted all three texts before a soft knock sounded at the door. “Hey Trev?” Ave said, slowly opening up the door.

“Yeah?” Her blue eyes burned a hole right into mine.

“Did you hear anything from Brian?”

I forced a sympathetic smile on my face and sadly shook my head. I really deserved an Emmy for my performances here. “No sorry, Little Gnome, nothing.”

Avery’s POV

“Ave will you stop fidgeting?” Maya scolded as she slapped my hand away from the hair she just curled. I sighed and moved my hands down to my lap, anxiously twisting my fingers together and chewing on my bottom lip. “Now close your eyes and hold still so I can finish your makeup.”

We were both dressed in fluffy white bathrobes in the middle of the enormous hotel suit bathroom getting ready to have a fun girls night at the Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed concert. The only problem was that I didn’t really feel like partying without my other half.

You see, I hadn’t heard from Brain all day. I just hoped he was busy with tour stuff because it wasn’t like him to go all day without calling me or sending me a message. Did he forget our promise to call or text every morning and night? I wasn’t sure but each day he was gone, the messages seemed to appear less and less. Was Trevor right about the guys having an open relationship on the road? No it couldn’t be…we were engaged. I just had to remember he was working—we both were.

“What do you think the guys are doing right now?” I asked, earning a loud sigh from Maya. What? She couldn’t blame me for asking, especially when I knew she was thinking the same thing.

“When I talked to Matt a few hours ago he said they have a show in New York tonight so they are probably getting ready right now,” Maya replied, putting on a strong face. Though I could tell she felt just as uneasy about the guys being on tour as I did. It just didn’t feel right to be home when we knew deep down we should be on the road together.

“Oh,” I said sadly. “Did Matt say anything about Brian?”

“No, but I only talked to him for about ten seconds before he had to go,” Maya explained. “They had a busy day, little gnome, so don’t worry so much. Besides, when I’m done, we’ll take some sexy pictures that they will have to respond to.”

“I hope you’re right,” I sighed, hating that I didn’t know what was going on with Brian.

“I’m always right. Now just sit back, relax, and let me finish my duty as your personal stylist for the evening,” Maya chuckled as a knocked sounded on the bathroom door. “Yeah?”

“Hey, can I come in?” Trevor’s voice called through the door. I quickly made sure my bathrobe covered me completely before reaching back to blindly open the door.

It had been Maya’s idea to bring him along with us to the hotel, though I wasn’t sure if I agreed with her logic. Sure I would have felt guilty leaving him at home alone two days, but what was he going to do while we were at the concert? Drink the rest of the champagne he had been supplying us with since we arrived hours ago? Speaking of champagne, I could use a refill because my glass was getting dangerously low.

“Wow, you girls look stunning,” Trevor gasped as Maya stepped away from me, looking at my face with pursed lips. She must have been trying to decide what else I needed.

“We’re not even dressed yet,” I giggled, trying to hide the light blush that crept over my cheeks.

I still didn’t know how I felt about Trevor being back, considering out past. He had been my first kiss and though I would never openly admit it to Maya, he was my first really big crush. It was almost surreal seeing him here now and I didn’t know how to feel after everything that happened. Should I trust him like Maya did?

“Well, I don’t know if I can let you go alone looking like that,” Trevor continued, pouring Maya and I yet another glass of champagne. I was really starting to feel the buzz and I had to admit I liked it. It was the only thing that was taking away the ache of missing Brian. “No wonder why Matt and Brian are always so protective. Any guy with half a brain would be lusting over you.”

Trevor’s eyes met mine and I couldn’t help but look down with a blush. “Oh, please, we used to do this all the time when we lived in the UK and no one ever bothered us,” Maya countered and I held up a hand to correct her.

“Except for the Asking guys, they were like our own personal body guards,” I added, my voice starting to slur as my head spun. “I miss those guys…”

“Me too, we had a lot of fun times with them, but we’ve also had a lot of fun with our guys,” Maya wagged her eyebrows at me as I took a sip of my drink, causing me to almost spit it. Why did she always have to make things sexual?

“So who was more fun? Avenged or Asking?” Trevor asked curiously, his brow raised as he looked between us.

I pursed my lips and tapped them with the tip of my finger. “Well, I think they both have their own winning qualities but Maya always wound up passed out drunk in the UK…hardly ever at home.”

“Yes, we had a lot of fun with the Asking crew…and I mean a lot. I did love the UK by the way,” Maya said and I rolled my eyes. Yes, I remembered her trying to get us to stay over there, though I didn’t know if it was for her or for Ben. “But I love being home with our guys the best.”

“Ditto,” I added right before a knock sounded at the door.

“Your car is here,” someone called and I jumped up, my head spinning. I wasn’t even dressed yet! Shit we couldn’t be late and miss the show.

“Oh right, sorry, that’s what I came in here to tell you,” Trevor chuckled. “I’ll go stall them while you two finish getting ready. See you downstairs.”

“Shit, I don’t even know what I’m going to wear yet,” Maya groaned as I opened the closet doors right outside the bathroom. Luckily for her I had already taken care of that. “Good thing your best friend made you the perfect outfit,” I slurred.

Maya darted over to the closet and opened the garment bag I secretly placed in there. As she opened it, here eyes lit up and a large smile spread over her face. “Ave…how did you—when did you have time to make this? It’s beautiful!” she gushed pulling out the pair short black leather shorts and a sexy black leather top to match. It was perfectly cut to show off all of her assets and I knew she would look drop dead gorgeous in it.

“Let’s just say I haven’t been sleeping very much by myself,” I sighed, opening my bag to reveal a long black and white pinstriped skirt and black leather crop top.

Maya frowned and pulled me into a tight hug, “I know exactly what you mean. Maybe from now on we should stay together? You know make it a little easier on both of us?”

I nodded my head and kissed my best friend’s cheek. “Yeah, I like that idea. But we need to hurry or we’ll be late for the show!”

And hour later Maya and I were standing on the side of the stage with drinks in our hands, drunkenly swaying back and forth to the beat of the driving music. I was having such a good time dancing and taking pictures with Maya that I didn’t even notice that Trevor had snuck into the concert with us until the last song in the show. I wasn’t sure how he managed to get in the concert, let alone the VIP area, but I was way to drunk to worry about it right now.

“Ave come here, we need to send another picture to the guys. I bet they aren’t having as much fun as we are…lets make them wish they were here,” Maya giggled, seeming way less intoxicated then I was. How did she always do that?

Maya pulled me into her and we both posed seductively for the camera, ignoring all the commotion and flashes around us from the stage. We took a few more pictures and scrolled through them picking out the best ones before sending them in a message to the guys. “Wish you were here with us,” Maya said as she typed.

“I hope it will finally get Brian to text me today,” I sighed, adjusting my top that had twisted slight from our poses.

“Oh, give me your phone,” Maya urged.

“Why?”

“Just lean forward and blow him a kiss…” Maya instructed and I did as I was told. After the flash Maya, quickly typed out a message and sent it. “Now he wont have any other choice but to…especially since you can see down your top in the picture,” she giggled.

“What? Maya?!” I gasped, ripping my phone away from her and looking through the pictures she just took. Okay, so maybe it was a cute picture, but everything seemed to be spinning and I really couldn’t think straight.

“Hey ladies, how did you enjoy the show?” Ben Burnley’s voice called next to me and I froze. I had met him once before but I couldn’t believe that we were actually talking to him again now.

“It was amazing. You guys really make some amazing music,” Maya said, looking a little less star struck then me. “It was really nice to hear you play again.”

“Yeah, Matt told me you two were big fans,” Ben chuckled. “So Maya and Avery, would you like to accompany me to the after party? We could get you a drink and maybe you’d both honor me with a dance?”

I opened and closed my mouth in shock before shaking my head excitedly. Ben Burnley knew my name! Ah! That was so exciting. But I really needed to calm down and play it cool or I would never hear the end of it when news got back to Brian.

“And don’t worry, both Matt and Gates told us the rules,” Ben laughed, offering us each an arm. “We will make sure you are very well taken care of because any family of Avenged Sevenfold is family to us too.”

I couldn’t help but smile back and forth with Maya as Ben took us down the back hallway toward the after party, my heart beating a mile a minute from excitement. I really couldn’t believe our guys had set this all up for us. Hell they were more than forgiven for interrupting my bachelorette party.

A few hours later I was spinning around the dance floor with Keith, Breaking Ben’s lead guitarist, Maya, and Ben, laughing the night away. I was highly intoxicated and having the time of my life. I actually didn’t remember when I’d had this much fun without Brian and it was nice to know that Maya and I could still live it up. I just wished he would respond to the photos I sent.

It was then that Maya’s phone started to ring and I froze. Was that the guys calling? I padded my way over to her as she answered the phone, her voice slurring. “Helllooo?” she sang and I couldn’t help but giggle. “Ben?”

Ben? What was he doing calling? I didn’t know but by the look on Maya’s face she was too drunk to register anything he was saying. “Oh Ben…you’re funny. I can’t really hear you hold on a minute,” she said and disappeared into the crowd, leaving me standing alone with an empty cup.

“Great,” I muttered to myself, looking around at the members of Breaking Ben and Disturbed partying the night away. As I scanned the crowd, I noticed people looking over in my direction and then looking back down at their phones. Were they trying to get pictures of the artists and I was in the way? Oops, maybe it was time to move.

After a few minutes of waiting by myself, I started walking through the party looking for that long mop of dark hair. Maya left to talk on the phone about ten minutes ago and god knows where Trevor went. He had been disappearing on and off all night. They both had to be around here somewhere, right? Did someone pull her onto the dance floor? I didn’t know but I desperately needed some fresh air and a smoke.

I grabbed my bag from behind the makeshift bar and headed out to the loading dock area, the fresh air a welcome relief. It had been extremely warm and stuffy in the back room and this cool air and the cigarette I just lit between my lips were exactly what I needed to help my spinning head. “Ahh…” I breathed, letting the minty smoke fill my lung with instant relief. I closed my eyes and leaned back against the wall wondering what Brian was doing right this minute. I could imagine his fingers flying over the guitar frets and his signature smirk adorning his lip. God I missed him…

I slowly pushed myself off the wall and started to walk around the couples scattered over the outside area. What I would give for Brian to come whisk me away for the night like he used to when we were on tour. Those were the good old days…

“You looking for your boyfriend?” A voice slurred from behind me, breaking me from my thoughts. I looked over my shoulder to see a man with slicked back blonde hair stumbling behind me, his blue eyes focused on my ass. It was obvious that he was way more intoxicated than I was, and I was way more than tipsy.

“Wh-what? No…erm he’s getting us drinks,” I lied, still scanning the area and staying a few steps ahead of him. I knew Brian wasn’t here but I wasn’t about to give this guy any more reason to follow me around, especially because the alcohol was still hitting me pretty hard. I just wanted to finish my cigarette and dance the night away with my best friend.

I quickly threw my cigarette to the ground and turned around the corner, finding myself face-to-face with the blonde stranger. He leaned one arm out on the wall, blocking my path as his glazy blue eyes scanned up and down my body. I carefully took a step backwards and crossed my arms in front of my chest, trying to block the view of my cleavage in my black leather crop-top.

“Oh, so you’re just into fun then, huh?” he slurred and I winced at the smell of the alcohol on his breath. Into fun? What did he mean by that? “Or are you just living it up on the dance floor with those rocker guys?” He wagged his eyebrows at me and took a step forward.

“What are you talking about? I’m not living up to anything, and certainly not with any guys on the dance floor,” I gapped at him, not exactly sure what he was insinuating. He was creeping me out and I wanted to get away from him. “I just need to find my friend…” I desperately looked over his shoulder for help. Someone had to come around the corner right? God this was the worst time for my head to be spinning.

“Is it another one of your special friends like I saw you with earlier? ‘Cause if that’s the case, I could totally help you.” The man took another step towards me as I took one backwards, caging me against the wall. He was inches from me and I almost gaged from the intense smell.

“Look, I don’t know what you’re talking about but I really need to find my friend. Plus you’re drunk. Please just—“ I stammered, pushing at his chest but he just laughed.

“If you ask nicely I’ll do anything you want me to, sweetheart—” He leaned in really close and I recoiled. No this wasn’t happening! I pinched my eyes shut and held my breath, not wanting to smell that foul odor any more. “Come on beautiful, what do you say you and I get out of here?”

“No…I don’t think so. My boyfriend and friend will be looking for me any minute,” I said in a fearful tone, hoping that mentioning another guy would get him to leave me alone. Please oh, please just go away… I pinched my eyes shut, willing him and his foul odor away. My chest started to rise as fear washed through my body, instantly sobering me. Please let him back off. Please?

“Come on, you know I can make you feel so much better then he ever could,” and with that his hands landed on my sides and started to roam up and down my curves.

“Please stop,” I pushed back against him but the guy wouldn’t budge.

“Just sit back and enjoy, sweetheart. I swear you’re gonna love this.” I gasped and tried to shove him away harder, but it only intensified his grip.

“No I don’t—”

“Back off!” A voice suddenly yelled before the guy was pulled off of me. “She said no!”

I opened my eyes and was surprised to see Trevor standing between the blonde man and myself. He saved me from this creep? Where did he even come from? I didn’t know but I had never been so happy to see him.

“Who the hell are you?” The guy shot back, stepping towards Trevor before he stood up to his full height and got right in the guys face.

“I’m her boyfriend now get lost before I beat your ass,” Trevor snapped and the guy scampered away.

Once the door shut, Trevor turned back around, his hands carefully running over my face as he looked at me with concern. “Are you okay, Ave?”

“Thank you,” I breathed, my heart still beating a mile a minute in my chest as I dove into his arms. “I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t shown up…”

“Let’s not even worry about that,” Trevor said, pulling me closer into his embrace. His heart was beating just as fast as mine was and I was thankful to have a friend like him. I guess Maya was right. He really had changed and had our best interests at heart. I suddenly felt guilty for doubting his true intentions. “Why did you come out here anyway? Maya and I have been looking all over for you.”

“I needed a smoke and I couldn’t find either of you. Besides Maya was on the phone with Ben. Did she tell you what he wanted?” I asked, my voice still slurring from the alcohol.

“She giggled something about the call breaking up and that he was trying to play a joke on her but that’s all I got,” he admitted and I nodded. I wonder what he wanted after all this time. Maybe he was calling about the interview?

“Well where is she now?” I asked, scanning the room once we were back inside. I noticed people looking between Trevor and I but I didn’t think much of it. People had been looking at my dress all night, which was really great for business if you asked me.

“There by the dance floor with Ben and Shaun,” Trevor pointed. “How about I get you girls some more drinks and meet you there?”

“Sure…and thanks again, Trev,” I grabbed his hand and gave it a light squeeze before pressing a kiss to his cheek. He had been a real friend and lifesaver tonight that was for sure.

“No problem. I’ll always be here for you, Avery. Just remember that,” and with that he disappeared into the crowd.

“There you are little gnome! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Maya gushed as soon as I reached them. “Ben and Shaun want to dance with us!” She said pulling me onto the dance floor and spinning me around.

I don’t know how long we danced for but at one point I swear I saw Trevor watching us as he talked on the phone. Were my eyes playing tricks on me? Did he have another business call at this time of night? Eh, what did it matter anyway? I was a great time with my friends and business was business! Maya and I knew that first hand.

The next thing I knew, Maya and I were dancing with all the members of Breaking Ben, camera’s were flashing everywhere, and my phone was ringing in my purse. I quickly pulled it out and dragged Maya off the dance floor with me. Was it the guys finally calling about the pictures we sent?

“Hello?” I asked, squinting through all the cameras that were suddenly flashing around us. I though the press had snuck in to take pictures of Breaking Ben and Disturbed, though that didn’t explain why the flashes were always in our direction.

“Ave? Ave is that you? Thank god we finally reached you,” James’ voice said through the receiver of the phone.

“It’s James,” I smiled at Maya who was holding her hands in front of her face as another very bright flash appeared. What the hell was going on? I could hear the crowd starting to buzz with more sound but I couldn’t make it out. I was too intoxicated to register any words. “Here wait, I’ll put it on speaker phone. What’s up on the other side of the pond?” I giggled.

“Ave you have to listen to me,” James said.

“Yes, Ben tried to call earlier. Are you boys trying to prank us? All I heard from him was static,” Maya slurred at the phone. “What kind of game are you playing tonight?”

“It’s not game, you girls really have to listen to us,” James continued, his accent thickening by the second. I forgot how much I loved to listen to him talk.

“Us? Who else is there with you?” I asked, looking at Maya before we both busted out laughing. These guys were all jokes all the time. At least that hadn’t changed. “Are you guys as sloshed as we are?”

“No but the—” Ben started.

“Ben is that you?” Maya asked as we both turned our backs to the flashing lights. I wanted to know who let the press in here in the first place. They were getting closer and closer and for some reason it sounded like they were saying Maya and Avery. My mind really had to be playing tricks on me.

“Yes but you need to listen. The interview got leaked. The press knows about our relationship. Everything is out in the open.”

Notes

Okay, so maybe bad boy Trevor isn't changing...but maybe soon? But he did save Ave from that creep right? So maybe we can forgive him for deleting texts and meddling in the girls love lives? Okay, maybe not yet but is there any hope? ;) Or are Mei and I just torturing you with a new evil character? That's for us to know and for you to find out!

Tell us what you think!
