Stuck with you

I promise... again.

I promise... again.

“What do you think is going on? Sara sounded really panicked” Amy and Brian were walking up to the house in a rush, after their friends had called them that morning. Brian grabbed Amy’s hand in a comforting manner.
“It can’t be Val again, as far as I know she and her sister are on a holiday in the middle east” Every bit of discomfort in Sara and Matt’s relationship was jokingly blamed on the twins, by every one of the friends around them, ever since she made a run for it 5 months ago.

Amy raised her brow “Why do you know that?”
Brian chuckled as he pulled his wife closer, amused by her unsuccessful ways of covering her jealousy “We have common friends, dear, I hear stuff” he quickly kissed her lips, but was pushed away.
“Well, dear, whatever it was, we need to hurry, something is wrong with my friend! She needs me.” Amy replied with sarcasm dripping from her voice.
“But I need you too” Brian pouted as he watched his wife reach out to open the door. He quickly grabbed her around her waist and turned her around to him. When the couple first got married they joked about the husband and wife thing, but now they had decided not to get divorced, every fiber of their being felt the matrimony. As soon as his eyes found hers, they got caught up in a stare and as if by itself, their lips found each other. Amy let herself get carried away by the kiss, but broke it anyway with a small smile “Later… We need to find out what is going on” Brian nodded, knowing his wife was right, once again.

As soon as Brian and Amy stepped in the house, they were surprised. The hall was decorated with flowers and there were people running around everywhere. Right in front of them were the widely grinning Matt and Sara.
“Hi!” they greeted them, both grabbing one by the arm, pulling them away from the other, but leaning back themselves to steal a quick kiss and a loud high five.
“What the-“
“Brian?” Amy looked over her shoulder as Sara started pushing her up the stairs.

“Nope! You are with me now… No Brian for the next few hours” Sara smiled widely at her friend. She couldn’t wait to see her face at everything she had arranged for today, together with Matt and all of their friends. It would be an amazing day, Brian and Amy wouldn’t know what hit them, Sara thought, already enjoying the fun beforehand.

Amy’s mouth fell open and she stopped in her tracks, the minute she walked into Sara’s office. The desk was pushed to the side, and the cupboards with Sara’s business papers were covered in soft colored curtains. A clothing rack was pushed against the back wall, and Amy had to blink her eyes at the sight.
“Are those…” she mumbled, still not believing what she was seeing.
“Yes they are honey, you can pick one to your liking.” Amy snapped around to see the smiley, slightly teared up face of her mom.

“Mom! What are you doing here?!” Amy darted forward and hugged her mother closely. Brian and her had been over to her parents when they went to pack up Amy’s apartment. Amy’s mother had been taken in by Brian’s charm from the second he stepped into the house, but her dad had needed a little more convincing. He put Brian through a third degree interrogation all the way through lunch, then all the way through dinner, and was finally starting to turn at the third cup of coffee that night. He was still not fully convinced Brian was right for his little princess, but he was coming around. Brian had made a huge step when he arranged a job for Amy at Larry’s office a few weeks after she moved to Huntington. Amy’s parents would never get over the fact that he took her away from them though.

Amy let go of her mom and looked from her mother to Sara and back “What is all this?”
“Well, dear…” Amy’s mother started, but this was what Sara had been waiting for, and she wouldn’t let someone take her moment away.
“This is your wedding day!” She grabbed Amy’s shoulders and turned her around to the rack. “You can pick your wedding dress from that rack, I did my best to get a great first selection for you and I already have a favorite!” She let out excitedly, before containing herself a little “But! You can fit them all, and make your choice! There is someone to help you get dressed for the fittings, I have champagne and all, to give you the full experience, and we even promise to cry at the right one” Amy looked over at her heavily nodding mom and best friend and couldn’t hold back a smile. ”And after you picked one, there will be someone here to do your makeup and hair. And thennnnnn after all of that is done… We will get you married, for real this time.” Sara looked at her friend, hoping she would pick up on the excitement.

A look of disbelieve came onto Amy’s face as she shook her head lightly “How were you able to arrange all this, how, what… I don’t even know what questions to ask”
Sara pulled her friend into a hug and they stood there for a few moments “Don’t ask questions, everything is arranged, trust me, just enjoy this day… it’s yours” The friends stared at each other and then smiled.
“Okay”
Sara clapped her hands joyfully and she dragged Amy over to the dresses, pushing the first one in her hands. Amy grabbed on to the dress, got a wide smile on her face and whispered to no one in particular.

“It’s my wedding day”

Brian used the same words, only followed by a question mark, as he was informed by Matt about the plans of the day. “It was Sara’s idea, but..”
“… you weren’t able to resist her” Brian ended his friend’s sentence with a grin, earning a chuckle from Matt.
“That too, but that was not what I was about to say” he opened the door to the entertainment room, revealing the other 3 of the band and their roadie friends. Brian looked surprised, he hadn’t seen that one coming.
“What I was about to say…” Matt continued “…is that we all helped, we thought you guys deserved a real wedding. So we arranged it”
Brian looked at his friends, from one to the other, and smiled. He didn’t really think he would need a ‘real’ wedding day, it was enough Amy wore his ring and his name, but now that they arranged everything he was kinda happy. It would be nice to stand at the altar, watching his bride stride towards him, speaking the words, remembering this time.

He plopped down on the couch and watch Matt hold up a suit “The girls are having a lot of beauty things planned, including picking a weddingdress, but I though you could go without that tradition, so I picked a suit for you”
Brian held up his thumb in approval and accepted the beer, handed to him by Zack.
“Only one” Brian said “I’m going to remember this time”

The guys laughed at the remark.
“I still can’t believe you got married while getting drunk in Vegas.” Zack said with a chuckle
“It’s probably a good thing that we don’t have time for a proper bachelor’s party, you could have ended up with two wives before even getting married” Johnny added, his face scrunching in pain as Brian punched his shoulder roughly.

“I’m happy I contribute to your fun, but it’s okay… you guys are only jealous” Brian looked around the group of his friends “I have a smoking hot, incredibly funny and supersmart wife… and you guys…. Don’t” He looked at all of them triumphantly.
“Hey!” Johnny, Arin and Matt let out, feeling the need to defend their girls in their absence.
“Show me your hands.. No rings, right? So no wives. Ha! See! I win!”

“Oh shut up, you are annoying” Johnny huffed
“I can be, it’s my day today”
The guys all looked at him with raised brows
“You realize a wedding day is never the man’s right? We only do this for the women, this is Amy’s day, clearly, and we will all… Including you, Haner… tend to her every wish today.” Zack told his friend
“I know I am, I don’t want to have Sara’s scorn on me” Johnny added.

“Oh! I like Sara’s scorn!” Dan joked as he pushed Matt playfully “We can always throw in Sanders as a sacrifice. She won’t fight him”
“She will definitely fight me… She seems to get a kick out of it” Matt got dirty grin on his face “But damn, the making up!”
“Spare me the details Shadz, it’s frustrating enough as it is…. Damn, I really need to get laid.” Zack fell back on the couch with a sigh “Are there any nice single female guests tonight?” he asked
Brian shrugged “How would I know?! You guys tricked me into this wedding day”

After the laughter died, silence fell over the room, everyone lost in their own thoughts. Brian’s thoughts were filled with the one person that wouldn’t be able to make it for certain.
“Jimmy would have loved this story. Me getting married on a drunk night, going on the honeymoon, ending up not getting the divorce. He would have loved to be here today. I bet he never would have believed I was the first one to get married.” His friends nodded, getting lost in their own thoughts about their deceased friend.

“I’m happy he isn’t here” Matt said quietly, receiving the reaction of his friends he had expected the second he spoke the words
“What the fuck, Matt! That is just rude!”
“No.. I don’t mean it like that… But there was no way Brian and I would have been where we were if Jimmy was there. He would have never let us leave by ourselves. He would have insisted we all go. He would have forced us all to drop everything and help the friend in need…”
“Yeah he would” chuckles filled the room.

“Brian would have never married Amy….. I would have never met Sara”

Matt thought about the blonde that was upstairs, trying to give her friend the day of her life, again, or maybe finally. He had his own plans for her. He knew it would be too soon to do it now, but he wouldn’t wait too long, when you know, you know. For now, having her here was enough. Sara’s business was blooming up in Cali, she had a whole new group of clients over here, and the regulars from Phoenix were willing to pay for her flight and hotel when she needed to go there for a job. Being without her would be a challenge, but Matt was convinced they would make it. Their love was strong, even though they were clashing hard sometimes. He hadn’t been lying that Sara loved to fight, but he sometimes suspected her to pick on the little things on purpose, just to be able to make up again, and to be honest, he wasn’t complaining… not at all. Matt was wondering if Sara was thinking about him too, was she a little sad maybe of Amy getting another wedding?

Upstairs Sara did have tears in her eyes, but they weren’t any tears of sadness, she was happy. She had promised herself not to be one of those stupid women that cried when they saw their friend in a wedding dress, but when Amy had smiled through her own tears, claiming that was the one, Sara hadn’t been able to let slip a few tears of her own, and she hadn’t stopped ever since. The dress was perfect for Amy, and it was perfect in more than one way, it was another confirmation of the unbreakable friendship between the two women, seeing it was the dress Sara marked as her favorite.

Now Amy was fully dressed, her makeup was done and her hair was complementing the rest of her appearance perfectly, her mother and best friend looked at her in awe.
“You look amazing honey” her mother choked out
“Thanks mom” Amy hugged her mother until it was interrupted by a careful knock on the door. Sara opened up, revealing Amy’s dad.

“Oh sweetie! You look breathtaking! If you rather have me take you out of here… I can do it, we will have your divorce arranged within no time”
Amy let out a giggle “Thanks daddy, but I really want to marry Brian again. I have no second thoughts” She hooked her arm into her dad’s and they made their way down, followed by her mother and Sara.

All the guest had assembled on the beach, right behind Matt’s house. That was where the ceremony would take place and where Brian and the guys were waiting for the women to arrive.
“It’s amazing what you guys have put together here, but I think you forgot something really important” Brian whispered at Matt, who looked at him confused “Who is marrying us? There is no minister”
Matt grinned widely. This was the part which he was looking forward to the most, but he had to wait a little while longer. “It will be okay” he assured his friend, putting a hand on his shoulder.

A guitar sounded through the sound system and Brian turned to Matt in surprise. That was him! “What the…?!”
Matt smiled widely, a few weeks ago, he had asked Brian to write guitar music for a lovesong he was writing…. For Sara, he had claimed, but it had been the plan all along. This would been the most important music this day.
“No time to discuss the what or how, I think you have somewhere better to look than at my ugly face” Matt put his hands on Brian’s shoulders and turned him to the entrance of the garden. The opening in which Sara now appeared.

Matt’s heart skipped a beat and Brian was long forgotten. He realized this wasn’t his ceremony, this wasn’t his day, but he claimed this moment as his. Sara looked amazing, she was glowing in excitement and searched his eyes the second she had her feet on the more steady ground of the carpet, drawn over the sand. As soon as their eyes locked, her smile got facewide and he followed immediately. As soon as she stood opposite of them at the altar, they mouthed “I love you” at the same time, making them both giggle a little.

They turned their heads to where Brian was staring now. The woman he loved so much appeared on the beach, her father on her one side, her mother on the other. And the in the middle was the beaming Amy, walking towards him as in a dream. Everything seemed to fade around them, it was like they were the only ones on in this spot, in this land, on this world and Amy was the only thing Brian saw.

As soon as they reached the altar, Brian shook the hand of Amy’s father and kissed her mother on her cheek, before he got a hold of Amy’s hand.
“You look so incredibly beautiful!” He kissed her knuckles and they just looked at each other.

“We meet again! I knew you two would stick!” Amy and Brian both snapped their heads at the man that had appeared between them.
“You asked the Elvis impersonator to marry us?!” Amy asked in disbelieve, shaking her head, a slight smile coming over her face anyway.
“I’m sorry babe, this was Matt’s choice” Sara chuckled.

“Alright, let’s start! Brian and Amy, please hold hands. Can we have the rings?”

Matt padded the pockets of his suit jacket, getting a slight panicked look on his face.
“Matt, where are the rings?” Sara looked over Amy’s shoulder, past Brian, over to her boyfriend.
“I gave them to Zack”
“I told Johnny to hold on to them” Johnny looked up over his shoulder at Arin’s innocent face
“I handed them to the kid”
Arin looked from one to the other in sheer panic “What? I… I don’t have them! No one gave me the rings!”

Sara stared at Matt and hissed “I gave you one fucking job! How could you have lost the rings?!”
The grinning started with Johnny, got caught up by Zack, until Matt couldn’t hold his anymore either as he reached in his pocket, grabbing the box with the rings. He held them out to Brian and Amy, with a triumphant smile towards Sara.
“Asshole! I will get you for this!” She whispered to Matt a little too loud, the others hearing her loud and clearly, laughing at her anger, knowing it wouldn’t take long.

The rings had been handpicked by Matt and Sara, it was their gift to Amy and Brian. The new rings fitted perfectly to the old ones, complimented them. Brian took one of the out of the box.

“Good, Brian, repeat after me”

“I promise to always love you tender
And never leave you at the heartbreak hotel
I’ll never have a suspicious mind
And I always be your big hunk o’love”

This time there were no laughs from the people attending their ceremony, as the love radiated from the couple, as Brian repeated the words and put the ring around Amy’s finger. He brought the hand to his mouth and kissed it, right above where he just put the ring.

“Amy, now it’s your turn… you know the drill honey”

I promise to always love you tender
And never return you to sender
I’ll never step on your blue suede shoes
And I always be your loving teddy bear”

The ring slid smoothly around Brian’s finger and Elvis was quick to pronounce them man and wife… again.

Brian was quick to pull Amy in his arms and crashed his lips on hers. The kiss was hard and rough at first, but then Amy’s hands found their way into Brian’s hair and their kiss softened. Brian’s tongue going over her lips, until she opened up to him, giving way for a deep and loving kiss that was met by cat calls and wolf howls, but the couple didn’t hear them. They were completely lost in each other. When they finally broke apart Brian put his forehead against Amy’s “I love you so much”
“I love you too, Brian, more than anything”.

“ENOUGH WITH THE ROMANCE! TIME TO PARTY!!” Zack ruined the moment, earning a laugh after the first indignation. All the guests stood up to clap and cheer the happy couple on as they made their way over to the large tent that was build on the beach.

The party was in full speed as Sara finally found Matt “Hey! I’ve been looking for you everywhere, where have you been?” She nested herself to his side immediately, having missed him the whole day. It had been amazing to give Brian and Amy this, and they had so much fun organizing it. The complete satisfaction they had felt when their friends had thanked them had been worth it, worth the fact that they had barely seen each other for hours.
“I was arranging everything with the caterer for the dinner, did you call the hotel?” Matt wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
“Yup, everything is arranged”
“Good” He turned her towards him and softly kissed her. When he broke the kiss too soon for Sara’s liking, she pulled him back down and kept him there until he kissed her properly.

“That’s better” she giggled when they finally pulled apart. She settled to his body, leaning her cheek on his chest as they both watched Brian and Amy dance closely, as the newlywed couple they were… again.

“I can’t believe they did this, did you have any idea?” Amy asked Brian as she rested her head on his chest in their comfortable dance.
“Nope, I had no clue at all. I didn’t even realize when Matt made me write that song” Brian smiled down on her. He was happy their friends organized all of this. Even though the marriage had been legal when they did it in Vegas, this one felt so much more real. With Amy’s parents there, with all their friends around…. With both of them remembering it in the morning.
“It feels more real now, or is that just me?” Amy said quietly, wording exactly what was in his head.
“It sure does, now you really can’t get away from me anymore.”
“And if I want to anyway… I can always use Zack’s present” Amy laughed.

Zack thought it would be funny to give them the divorce papers, framed, as a wedding gift. They would hang it on the wall, as a constant reminder of their start, but an end that would never come.

“Not funny… Not funny at all… I will never sign those damn things.” Brian replied with a growl.
“What do you think, will they ever?” Brian followed Amy’s line of sight and saw Matt and Sara had joined them on the dance floor. He smiled. Matt had told him about his plans, but that would be the one secret he would keep from his wife, knowing she would only run to Sara and tell her about it.

“Who knows wifey, who knows”

I guess I'm a little late for my comment now seeing that this story was over about four months ago. Couldn't read it back then cause I was busy with university and graduation. But finally I'm back, so I thought I'd catch up a little bit!

I really liked the plot, the beginning reminded me a little of the movie 'The Hangover'. That chemistry between both the couples was uh-mazing! And I especially loved how Brian started to realize that he had feelings for Amy. As for Mattyboy and Sara, they were my favorites :)

Good job, girls!
