Brian’s POV

I was pretty sure that I did tell Avery we had a dinner to attend at my parents, so how could it really happen that I did forget to tell her in the end?
Or was I maybe a little afraid she wouldn’t want to meet my family?
I mean, my family was all I had, I was proud, even though my Dad was someone you really had to get used to and I hoped he wouldn’t embarrass me or Ave too bad.

And I knew when Ave would loosen up a little bit she would definitely be feeling at home and that she would like my little chaos family.
I couldn’t wait to let her see me and Mac and my Dad play something on the guitar, just some jamming. Because I know how much my father and Suzy enjoys that each time… and I would guess Ave would love it too.

But then it all went a little different than I thought, Ave wasn’t feeling comfortable at all, and it wasn’t my Dad’s or Suzy’s fault. It was Mac’s as far as I could tell.
Ave was already feeling not too peachy with the choice of outfit that I made for her, but we didn’t have time for that or even selection to choose from.

I felt a little sorry, I really hoped she would be at ease when she would meet my parents for the first time, but this was not going as good as I hoped.
When Suzy guided Ave towards the kitchen and Mac made another stupid remark, I stopped Mac with my hand to her arm.

“Can I speak to you for a second, Mac?” I asked and all three women turned towards me.
I knew Mac heard the seriousness in my voice and she frowned a little then threw Ave an angry look and nodded “If you have to, sure” She shrugged my hand off and walked up the stairs.

I gave Ave a weak smile and pecked her lips while whispering “You are doing good, don’t worry. I’ll be right back.” Ave nodded weakly and then followed Suzy while I made my way upstairs, taking two steps at a time, meeting Mac’s glaring eyes, when she saw me approach she vanished into her room and made me follow.

“So what do you want?” Mac snapped and I frowned closing the door, so Ave wouldn’t get any wind of the talk I was having here with my sister.
“What I want? I want to know what the fuck is up with you?” I demanded and normally Mac and I always came along perfectly, so I had no idea what crawled up her ass and died.

“Why do you bring a girl to the dinner? I thought it was a familydinner? Not some one night whore thing?” Mac lifted her eyebrow in challenge and I gapped at her.
“God, who teaches you words like that… and what the hell? It is a family dinner? Ave belongs to the family, she is my girl.” I told her and had to realize my little sister wasn’t so little anymore.

“Don’t act like I’m a little girl, Brian! I was so happy that you were finally back and that we could spend some time together, like we used to, and now you come here with some girl glued to your side… how long will she be with you… like the others? A day or two? Why then bother bringing her to dinner with us?” Mac asked and her voice was harsh and even though I was angry at how she put her words and was talking about Ave, I finally got what this was about.

“Listen Mac, and I mean for you to really listen. Ave is not a one night stand or like any of the flings I might have had in the past. Ave is the woman I love and she will be staying by my side, so you – my dear sister, better get used to her and if you won’t stop those mean comments, it could be a reason that I am not that much around. I love you, Mac but I love Ave as well. She is the one woman for me, and I thought you would understand that I want to share the happiness that I am feeling with her with you and the rest of the family. Damn, I mean… we always came along perfectly, why are you making this so hard on me today?”

Mac looked down on her feet and I knew I hit a nerve “I planned on spending time with my Brian. I wanted to have time with you, just you, like we used to when you came of tour. You seeing my band, I mean we are playing in two days… I thought you could be there and join in, you know how much I love to show off my famous brother” She gave me a small smile and I moved forward hugging her to me.

“Damn Mac, you know I will always find time for you. But promise me now, that you will behave and be yourself around Ave and not make it any harder on her like it already is… you know Dad, he will embarrass her and me enough, we don’t need your bitchy side to add to that” I quickly stepped away before Mac could hit me.

I moved towards the door with a smile gabbing the handle and she shook her head smiling at me “I’ll try, but only if you promise that you won’t forget about me, and we are still spending time together?” She asked hopeful and I nodded “I promise”

I laid my arm around Mac’s shoulder and we moved down the stairs, my father was just coming towards us “I was just getting the picture book, I told Ave how late you began to-” My eyes opened wide and I nearly ran down the stairs.
“Don’t you dare, Dad” I told him and he chuckled “Kidding, Suzy took care of the funny pictures while you talked to your sister.” He grinned and I rolled my eyes, “God please”

The rest of the dinner was going over smoothly, I helped Suzy with the dishes, and left Ave, Mac and my Dad alone in the living room. Mac gave me a small nod when I left them alone and I sighed “I like her” Suzy said when she turned to me.
“She suits you, and she is really in love… and so are you as I can see, or you would have never talked like that to your sister” She added and I lifted an eyebrow.
“A mother knows” She gave me a wink and I smiled.

“I love her, Suzy. She is all I want… It took me a while and it was hard work, but now that I got her with me again, I know that I won’t let anything happen that will come between us. I won’t lose her again” I said and meant it and Suzy nodded a smile on her lips “I never heard you talking like that before, it very fitting. And if you really mean it, maybe you should think further ahead… oh and how is Matt and… what was her name… Ave’s friend doing?” She asked and I blinked, what does she mean further ahead?

“They are also back on track, took them even longer then us, but they also belong together, was just a matter of time really.” I told her with a smirk and she nodded “It’s good that you guys begin to realize that. How about some dessert? Does Ave like ice cream?” Suzy asked and I chuckled “She loves ice cream”

When we were done with the eating and I realized it was getting late, I saw Ave pulling out her phone.

“What is it, love?” I asked and she frowned “A missed call from Maya.”
“Call her back” I said and my father motioned to just go ahead and that they wouldn’t mind, but Ave shook her head with a small smile, when my phone started to ring, “Matt” I told them.

“What’s up, man?” I asked after picking up.
“Johnny’s Bar?” He asked and I frowned “Yeah, later tonight, I know.” I told him confused and looked at Ave who also lifted her eyebrows.

“It is later tonight? Didn’t we say nine?” Matt asked and I frowned “Yeah? And?”
“Dude, do you have a watch, it is nine. M and I are here as are the Berry’s and Jimmy and Jess are just walking up to us, where are you? Picking up Zack and Johnny?” Matt asked and I opened my eyes wide, looking at my father “What time is it?”
“Nine” He answered confused “Damn… we are on our way” I hung up and smiled sheepishly.

“Sorry, Ave and I gotta go.. We got the traditional meeting at Johnny’s… I forgot the time” I shrugged and my father rolled his eyes.
“We can also stay… I mean-” Ave smiled and I shook my head “It’s tradition babe. That would bring bad luck for the next tour… Yo, Mac you wanna come along?” I asked and she smiled “Sure, let me get my phone and purse real quick.”

“Hey, who said you could take your little sister to a Bar… hey… ah whatever, bring her home safely, will you?” My father grinned and I nodded “Sure thing, I show her the trick with the tramping.”
Which earned me a tug on my earlobe from Suzy “You wouldn’t dare”

“Ah dang it…” Mac came walking back in her phone in hands “I can’t. I just got a message from July, we meet with the band now…” She looked torn and I smiled “Don’t worry. We go another time, I’m here, remember” I told her and she nodded “Alright”

We said our goodbyes and waved a final time when I pulled out of the driveway and then we finally made our way towards Johnny’s Bar.

“So?” I asked looking at Ave from the side.
“So?” She repeated looking at me too and I rolled my eyes. “Come on, love. You just met my family, what do you say?” I asked and Ave sighed.
“They are amazing, I know why you are such a family man now” She told me with a smile and I nodded.

“And you belong to that family, did my dad behave? And Suzy? Telling embarrassing story’s while I was away?” I asked a little playful and Ave smirked “I heard a Duran Duran story, which was pretty funny, Wild boy” She grinned and I closed my eyes shortly.
“She didn’t, did she?” I sighed and Ave burst out laughing “Oh she did”

“I gotta thank her for that later.” I groaned out loud and Ave chuckled further “I can’t believe none of the other guys told me the story before, wild boy” Ave said and I narrowed my eyes on her.
“Will you stop calling me that!” I told her and she grinned even more “Or I’m gonna show you a wild boy later on”
“Maybe I want you to?” Ave said and I grinned seeing into the side of her dress, liking the sight I got with much skin being revealed.

“Mr. Haner? What are you looking at?” Ave asked playfully and I grinned “At what is mine” And then my thoughts moved a little ahead “We should stop at home, and let you redress” I said and Ave frowned.

“What? No! This is a dress for exactly going out, not to be at your parents and we are almost there anyway.” Ave narrowed her eyes and I sighed, driving the last miles grumbling.

“But-” I started again after a few minutes of silence only to have Ave cut me off “We are late already, and there we are, now stop the complaining and find a parking lot” Ave said with a grin and just when the car stopped, she was already out, running towards the entrance, and I sighed…

I would have been good with the rest of the evening just being mine and Ave’s but fine… why not have a drink or two to finish of this day properly?!

Maya’s POV

If I had to name the most awful first meeting of my life that would be it. Meeting my boyfriend’s parents, how much more embarrassing could it be then standing shirtless, with their sons lips attached to my upper body in the doorway?

Anyway, after getting freshened up a little bit and putting a blouse on that Matt still had from me in his wardrobe which I was really thankful for, he took my hand and guided me back down.

“Well, that was a surprise wasn’t it?” Matt’s father grinned and I blushed, with no quick remark that I could make without doing any more damage.

If Matt would have asked me to meet his parents, or had known they were here, I would have stayed at Larry’s home or told him that we would do that another time, but now I didn’t have a choice and I couldn’t lose the feeling that his parents knew I wasn’t girlfriend material for their son.

“Mom, Dad… This is Maya. Maya, officially these are my Mom and Dad, Kim and Garry Sanders.” Matt introduced and I held my hand out to shake theirs.

“I’m sorry for the way… for the first impression. I know there is no second chance for a first impression, but I wanted you to know what you have an amazing son, and I love him and that’s all what matters to me.” I looked up to Matt and he leaned down to give me a kiss, but I moved my head to the side, so he just kissed my cheek when his father chuckled.

“I can see you; have him under your spell. That’s good, Matt needs a strong woman. Now, let’s forget about all this, and have some dinner, shall we?” He guided us all towards the dining room and Matt took my hand squeezing lightly and I got the thought that he was beginning to enjoy this way too much.

After the family dinner and all the awkwardness and tension had finally subsided Matt’s parents left and both Matt and I got ready for the party at Johnny’s bar.
Matt tried to join me during the shower, but I kept the bathroom door closed and took my time getting ready.
I know it wasn’t his fault to bring us into the situation, but which still didn’t mean I couldn’t blame him for it a little bit.

I put on the shortest and most sexy dress I could find, that was in my possession and not in the UK with most of my clothes, which brought me to another thought that Ave and I really had to talk about going back to the UK to arrange all that.

“Babe? Are you ready?” Matt’s voice sounded from the other side of the room.
“It’s nearly nine.” He added and I sighed, looking at myself in the mirror a final time, checking everything and being satisfied.
“I’m ready” I yelled back before opening the door, seeing Matt leaning against the doorframe and when I walked out he swallowed thickly, gapping afterwards.
“You don’t… that’s not… you won’t…” He stuttered, but I walked past him smirking.

I grabbed my purse and shut off the lights and walked towards the car, waiting there for Matt.
He nearly came out running towards me, shutting the door and I finally took in the sight of him, and he was looking damn fine.

He was wearing a dress shirt, leaving the top buttons open to reveal his tattoos, he had scrambled the arms up, so some more skin and tattoos showing there as well and his aviators were in place.

“Babe, I mean… That’s not appropriate to wear in public.” He hissed out and I smirked.
“You will be with me all the time, you can make sure no one else is looking too closely, will you drive now, or we are running late…” I gave him a smirk and he opened the car, the short dress was riding high on my thighs when I sat in the passenger seat and Matt’s eyes were plastered there before even starting the car.

“Matt? Drive?!” I told him again and he closed his eyes and did I hear him pray?
“Why are you freaking making me pay for something I didn’t have anything to do with?” Matt said while we finally made our way over to Johnny’s and I grinned, clever guy.

“I’m not making you pay… I thought you liked for me to look good?” I pouted a little and Matt sighed “You know how I meant that, I can barely keep my eyes on the road with you sitting next to me like that… and still having so much built up frustration from earlier in my body” Matt said and I grinned.

“Well, you gotta keep that up for a little longer, I guess.” I told him and walked towards the Bar, seeing Matt and Jason waiting outside already, and Dan coming by as well.
“God.. holy cow.. Maya” MB grinned when I hugged him and Jason nodded approvingly.
“You look hot” Dan greeted me and I smiled “Thank you guys.”

“Alright, hands off my girl.” Matt announced behind me and I smiled “If a girl dresses like that, she wants to be touched, Shads… Which means again that you haven’t touched her the right away” MB chuckled and quickly stepped out of hitting distance from Matt.

After some more jokes we all moved inside, Johnny was already there waiting in the backroom with a tablet full of shots.
“Is everybody here yet?” He asked just when Ave and Brian came walking into the door and the rest of us settled down in the room.
“As everybody knows the tradition of a tour ending is us celebrating here at Johnny’s bar” Johnny announced handing a shot glass to every one of us.

Matt stepped forward holding out his drink “So here we are celebrating the ending of the successful tour, celebrating that our friends and family members are all here safe and sound with us and that we can enjoy a couple of days with our family here in Cali before another exciting time of album writing and touring starts again, thank you all for being part of our fucked up family and enjoy the night” Matt pulled the glass to his lips and we all drank and cheered and I smiled, he put that nicely.

“And!” Johnny added “As tradition demands… I thought about a nice game for us to play… or more than one… let’s see” He grinned. “I prepared something” He moved towards the middle of the room smirking.

“We start as small groups and do it parallel, some of you just has to decide on the alcohol that we will drink during this game” Johnny announced and Matt already grabbed the bottle of Patron from Johnny the bar owner who smiled at our group, knowing the guys since they were little.
“Have fun, guys” He patted Matt’s back and I smiled, he looked like a proud papa.

“Okay, Teams… Let’s see. Jason and Dan, Brian and Jimmy, Jess and Matt, Maya and me, Ave and Zack, DJ and-” I turned around narrowing my eyes, what the hell… I met the blue eyes of the woman I only met a couple of times, but knowing she and my Matt had something going on was fueling the hatred in my body, but I tried to push it away, knowing I was here with Matt and we were together and she had nothing on him. I saw Matt looking between me and DJ and I tried to casually shrug, not making him too aware of the fact that her sheer presence was rubbing me the wrong way.

“DJ and MB…” His announcement took a moment until every member from the crew who was close friends and showed up here was paired up.
“Every Team gets two cups, one is filled to the rim with alcohol, the other empty. You get one spoon and we will get 90 seconds to fill as much alcohol from one cup to the other, just by using the spoon, after the 90 seconds are up, the one member standing to the right, will have to drink the rest of the cup in front of him, while the member to the left the one on his side… Everybody got that?” Johnny asked handing out the spoons and filling the cup.

When no one complained so we stood on our positions while Johnny the owner gave the sign to go, Johnny tried to fill the cup in front of me, but the spoon didn’t get much liquid on it and I knew we were a team, but I was pretty thankful that Johnny’s cup was still pretty much filled and in mine was filled with about an amount of a shot glass.

“Time’s up” Johnny announced and I looked at the cups and around our group, it was nearly all the same, the cup on one side pretty much still filled the other only slightly filled only, Brian and Jimmy seemed to have found a good technique, their cups were half- half, and they grinned like idiots about the fact.

“Alright… Let’s down in.” Johnny announced and held his full cup up while I took mine and drank the shot in one go, letting the alcohol burn down my throat and nearly making me cough, it’s been way too long since we played these games… wasn’t used to the hard liquor anymore as it seemed.

“Place exchange” Someone yelled and I traded my place in front of the safe cup with Johnny, “But with another drink… I won’t be able to drink that” Ave announced and Brian nodded “Let me get something” He walked towards the bar and came back with a bottle of cream liquor making the guys groan and me and Ave happily jump.

“Thanks babe” Ave kissed him quickly and I saw Jason staring at Ave’s outfit, she was wearing a sexy little thing, with a lot to see for the guys, if Brian really liked that was a different question, so I chuckled to myself, she had probably the same talk Matt and I had.

“Yeah, thanks babe” I yelled and Brian threw me a kiss making Matt shake his head at us playing around.
When the cups were filled, everything started again, now we were a little more aware on finding the right technique but still ended up with nearly the same result and this time it was my turn to drink the full cup knowing this was gonna be a long and drunk night as it seemed.

“If I drink all that I’m already tipsy… I’m not used to drinking anymore” Ave said and held the cup up.
“I can take some more” Zack told her but Johnny pushed his way between it “That’s against the rules… and the sense in this game is to freaking get drunk, or it wouldn’t be called drinking game, sweetie?!” Ave rolled her eyes and finished off her drink, with the rest of us cheering her on.

“Alright… I will think of the next game and prepare it” With that Johnny vanished and I frowned, when two arms pulled me into a hard body.
“You like to tease me do you?” He whispered in my ear and I nodded.
“I love to” I told him and leaned into his body, when Brian and Ave came walking over to us.

“How was your first day back home? Settled in?” Brian asked and I rolled my eyes “Settled in?” I asked “You better ask you buddy here, how embarrassing the day was for me” I said and pulled away from Matt who groaned in protest and told me to stop but I grabbed Ave’s arm and guided her towards the bar, taking a seat there.

“Tell me little gnome, how are you holding up?” I asked and she gave me a smile “Good… but what was that about embarrassment? You know you won’t get away without telling me, do you?”
“I met Matt’s parents… and it was the worst first meeting you could imagine” I sighed closing my eyes still feeling a flush come over my face, when I thought about it.

“What? You met his parents? Was that planned? Because it couldn’t be as embarrassing as me going there in this dress meeting Brian’s parents… Cause I didn’t have anything to wear… and I felt so uncomfortable” Ave told me about meeting Brian’s parents and sister and how everything started out a little weird, but then how she and Mac had a quick talk and Ave assuring Brian’s sister that she didn’t want to take him away from the family and that she hoped to become friends and with that talking I hoped Ave would forget about my little get together with the Sanders family, but I wasn’t that lucky.

“And now your turn, missy!” She said finally and I groaned, telling her how Matt and I stormed in, being half naked and then the meeting of his Mom and Dad, Ave was laughing hysterically making me feel even worse.

“Really? Oh my god.. that was… oh my” She yelped for air and I heard Brian burst out laughing as well, great that everyone was finding this funny. “Thanks for laughing, I thought I’m gonna die and wanted to be swallowed by the ground” I told Ave and she whipped tears from her eyes.

Matt and Brian came over towards us “How about we make a double date tomorrow, having dinner at our place?” Brian suggested still snickering, “Could be fun?” He asked and Matt nodded “Sure, why not… you cooking?” Matt teased and Brian shook his head “Probably ordering… you still want to have something from your free time and not stay sick in bed, right?” He grinned and Ave nodded.

“GUYS! GAME NO. 2” Johnny yelled holding two boxes up, “I wrote half of the names group on paper in this box, while I will let the other half pull one piece out, he will find his partner that way.”
“And what are they gonna do? What’s up with the drinking?” Jason asked and Johnny rolled his eyes

“I’m coming to that part… its more than just a drinking game” He continued. “First pull out a person, then the partner pulls out of the other box a body part, as soon as reading they will have to stay attached at exactly that body part, the first pair to not be attached anymore loses and has to drink an alcoholic drink mixed by the rest of the group, until the last pair wins… and believe me, you want to win” Johnny said and Brian groaned “I bet he made sure the couples won’t get each other, asshole that”

“Alright, first person to draw another name is… Brian” Brian walks over to the box pulling out a piece of paper reading out “Jess” and Jimmy narrows his eyes “I hope for pinkie finger or something not more touching, Haner, I have my eyes on you” Brian chuckled “At least a girl”

It went on and on, Dan and Zack, Johnny and Jimmy, which would look really funny, until now Ave’s part was “Jason” and Brian’s head snapped around, still not liking having Ave and Jason so close, interesting, and we still didn’t know where they had to be attached to.

“Maya, your turn” Johnny announced and I pulled out a piece reading “Matt… Berry” I already liked the game but then well, I liked MB and it wasn’t hard to be attached to him, but that left only one pair over… my Matt and DJ, and that thought I really didn’t like.

Matt pulled the last piece out and of course it said DJ, she gave him a smile and Matt gave me a reassuring nod, which I replied with a deep breath in and out, calm down, he is with you, there is nothing going on there anymore.

“Time for the body parts” Johnny announced and began to wave around the box, “Who wants to start?”
“I do” Jimmy said and pulled a paper out and then frowned and cursed “Are u fucking kidding me?”
“Butt!” He said and we burst out laughing. “How the hell should that even work, look how short you are?!” Jimmy shook his head still complaining, trying to bend on a level with Johnny making us all laugh even more.

“Next” Dan moved forward pulling out a piece “Pinkie finger” He held his finger out for Zack to hook into and they shrugged “Could be worse”

“Jess?” Johnny asked and she moved forward pulling out another piece “Elbow” She announced and Brian moved in close so they were attaching their elbows together, which still seemed pretty comfortable, just standing close to each other.

And now the rest was coming and the interesting question, what did Matt, Ave and I get and which body parts were left?!

I looked at Matt and DJ talking and the jealousy was still very present “Don’t worry, M. We will have fun, because I am in for the win… I saw which different kind of liquids Johnny had pulled up for this game, and you really don’t wanna drink them…” He said and I nodded “Okay, I believe you. In for the win” I told him with a small smile, while my eyes moved back to Matt and DJ, while Ave pulled out the piece of paper, making Brian trying to look at what she got, now this shall be an interesting night…
