004: Meeting the Bakers

I wake up in a late at morning by the sound of my dad and… My grandparents!
I yank from the bed. I hear they talking about me and dad try to explain them that I’m not his one night stand. Oh my god! What should I do!
I take a deep breath before change my clothes and slowly walk to downstairs.

“Come on mom, dad. She’s lose”
“How did you let a stranger came inside! Is she gone at the night with our money or anything?”

Grandma yelled at him. I see him close his eyes and his body seems to go smaller and smaller, wow, rare moment.

“Excuse me…”

I said softly. They staring at me.

“Did you… talking about me?”
“Victoria?”
“Hm... I'm Veronica”

I smile shyly.

“Your son is really kind. He gave me a food and place”

They look at dad and he just smile weakly. They come closer to me, look deep into my eyes.

“Where are you from?”
“I… I think somewhere but I can’t remember”

I lied, swear to god that I wanna say ‘I’m from California in 16 years later’ but maybe they will kick me outside without any help.

“What’s your name again, sweetheart”

My grandma asked softly. Wow, she still so sweet.

“I’m Veronica Dian. That’s all I know”
“You lose?”
“I’m not sure. I can remember just I walk along the road and find your house. I’m just… need some help”
“See?”

Dad said. I can feel that he proud of this, yes he win.

“By the way, we should to inform the police”
“No!”

I shout, they look at me with confuse.

“P… Please don’t. I…”
“I know you scare but we have to…”
“Please don’t…”

I look at her with tear-filled eyes. I know her weak spot too well.

“I’ll help you at house-working or anything you want. But please don’t do that”

I beg. They look at each-other for decide.

“How can I trust you?”

Grandpa asks.

“You will see, mister. I promise”

I smile at them and I know my mission will begin soon.
