Do Your Worst

Ch. 1

Erin’s P.O.V

“Erin sometimes I swear that you are just too much like me...” My mom said getting irritated at me, I sat there in the car with my shades on and dusted off my outfit as we were in the final stretch of the trip to Huntington Beach, California.

“This is the third time this year you’ve uprooted my life mom… of course I am going to get upset and be all cranky like you are” I said and she looked over and just watched me for a moment. Don’t get me wrong I love my mother… but with her job she is constantly pulling me along… luckily my bestfriend Hannah was always with me. She and her mom arrived in Huntington yesterday with the movers and had started moving things into their home.

“We will be here longer this time around baby, I swear… and I am not cranky” She stated at the end and I laughed a little but I didn’t really try to think too much of her saying we would be here a while.. usually it was two-four months if Hannah and I were lucky.

“I just wanna have a life… I wanna go out and party and drink with Hannah… I WANNA MEET A BOY! I wanna write music and be free mom!” I whined and she just laughed at me… my mom knew that I was a very dramatic girl.. Hannah knew it too. I got that aspect from my mom.

“Will you please just shut your cakehole little one, I know you want to write and sing your music and be the little free bird that you are… but you have to realize that you are the daughter… and I am your mother and whatever I say.. goes… got i-“ She was about to finish as we pulled up to the new house but when she stopped I cut her off hopping out with a few bags and running towards my room.

“UUGGGHHHH!!!” I yelled out in frustration before Hannah popped into my room. She looked around at the leopard print that covered part of the wall that the designer did which was my usual and she laughed.

“Well it seems that some things never change E” She said before I threw my pillow at her. She lied down and I started moving stuff towards the computer desk I had here so I could have my music stuff set up and she smiled.

“So was it hell with your mom on the way here as well?” I asked and she propped herself up.

“I think if you were to be asking my mom that she would be telling you I was the one who was raising the hell but yeah pretty much, I kinda like it here though, at least it isn’t cold like the last state” she said and I shrugged.

“I suppose you are right, ugh but I cannot believe that they made us come here… I mean come on we haven’t been able to go to one high school or apply for colleges.. I don’t know how she expects me to do anything I wanna do when I am glued to her whenever she moves!” I said and Hannah just laughed. She lifted herself from the bed and hugged me.

“E you are so crazy, you should cut her some slack though, they are trying to make things permanent and I have heard of some great music in the area, we will try to make the best of this… and of course make our own fun! Buuuuut I gotta get back to helping my mom so I will see ya later! Keep me posted if you go out sightseeing!” She said walking out and I went and grabbed more boxes among the men that were helping my mom. She was on the phone with someone in the kitchen and it seemed heated.

“Are we clear though!?” She said trying to whisper but a harsh tone lingered in her words. I ever so slightly kept my head peeked into the kitchen. Sometimes she just seemed off when she was upset.

“I don’t care, make sure that everything is cleared!” She said roughly setting her hands on the table and trying to take deep breaths.

“Look there was a lot at stake that last time and it’s your job to make sure that we have a green light… so do it.. I gotta go” She said as I nonchalantly walked into the kitchen, she turned to me and messed with my blue and purple pastel hair.

“Sorry honey, that was Adam, we were trying to clear a deal and things just were a mess but we are good now, have you gotten most of your stuff set up?” She asked and I was roaming my mind kind of unaware she was talking before her hand went to my cheek.

“Earth to Erin” She said with a smile and I snapped out of it and gave her a hug.

“I think I am gonna run down to that Chinese place that we saw on the way here and get some food, I am sure that Adam will get things adjusted like usual” I said and she nodded and watched me walk out. I stopped outside Hannah’s place and saw her and her mom unpacking a box.

“Hey H! Joyce! Chinese in an hour?? Gonna go grab some!” I yelled over and they both nodded and gave a thumbs up. I swear those two were more alike than my mom and I. I walked down the street texting an old friend who was saying they missed me and ordered the Chinese. While I was waiting around some guy and his very tall friend bumped into me and my phone slipped from my hands but the guy with the dark hair caught it.

“Oh god… here I am so fucking sorry, sometimes we don’t realize where we’re walking” He said as I dusted off my phone screen and I giggled realizing how cute he was… usually boys were an easy subject for me but I couldn’t get myself to lift my head.

“Are you alright?” He asked again and I finally looked up and smiled while nodding.

“Yeah I am fine… sorry I was texting and so not watching and I have lyrics and beats working in my brain and… well just sorry” I said… great E…that was perfect.

“That’s adorable” The tall one blurted out and while I was used to hearing Hannah, her mom and
my mom saying it.. hearing that from a guy just doesn’t go down well with me.

“Uh oh she didn’t take too well to that Jimmy” The hottie said laughing and I heard my name
being called for my order and I went and grabbed it and started walking away.

“DON’T I GET A NAME? A NUMBER? ANYTHING?” The hottie called out and I came back over to him and pulled my lucky blue pen from my pocket and wrote my name on the receipt and a little note under it saying telling him if he wants my number then he will have to find me.

“Nice meeting you Jimmy… and?” I asked waiting and he took a moment before his head shot up and he grinned seeing my smile.

“Brian” He managed to get out and I smiled and turned around walking back up the 3 blocks to the houses and went inside whistling for Hannah to come over…

This was a better start than I thought it would be…
