My Little Piece of Heaven

Ch. 9

*~*Zacky's POV*~*

I felt a small dip on the bed next to me before I could crack one of my eyes open. When I did, there was two bright emerald ones staring at me with a smile. I smiled back as I pried my eyes all the way open to see Jayden leaning over me from next to me on the bed.

"Jayden...what are you doing up at..." I asked as I looked at the time, "8 in the morning? Where's mommy?"

"She's sleeping. Zacky, are you gonna stay and play with me today?" he asked happily.

I grabbed his little body, tickling him, as I turned over towards him, "I sure am..."

His little giggles and laughter made my heart swell even more for him. I stopped tickling him and let him breathe as I sat up and rubbed my tired eyes. 8 in the morning was way too early for me, especially since we just got home from tour a day ago. Usually I was asleep until noon or until my dad would toss me off the couch so he could watch TV.

"How you feeling little man?" I asked Jayden.

"Better. Let's wake up mommy..." He said pulling my hand to get out of bed.

"Why don't we let mommy sleep a little more? I'm sure mommy is tired after she had to go take Uncle Jake home last night..." I told him as I picked him up and felt his forehead to make sure he didn't have a fever still, "Do you want some breakfast?"

"Yeah, can you make pancakes Zacky? Like the ones mommy makes?" he asked.

"How does mommy make pancakes?" I questioned.

"Like Mickey Mouse." He said putting his hands on his head like Mickey Mouse ears.

I chuckled at his silliness, "I can try but only if you help me."

"Ok!" He said excitedly as I got up from the bed and carried him out into the hall.

I set him down, "Why don't you go downstairs and I'll be there in a minute ok?"

"Ok Zacky." He said as he held on to the rail and walked carefully down the stairs.

I went to the bathroom, and walked out looking at Chloe's open door. I knew I shouldn't but I had missed her so much that I couldn't stop myself from silently walking in. I stood by the doorway and watched her peacefully sleep, her chest rising and falling just slightly. She didn't think I noticed the dark circles under her eyes, but I did and I wanted to just let her sleep in. I could handle Jayden on my own for a while. I turned and walked out and made my way downstairs, finding Jayden searching in the kitchen pantry.

"What you doing?" I asked him.

"You said to help you so I'm looking for pancakes." He stated.

I found the pancake mix and pulled it out setting it on the counter before going into the fridge and finding the milk, eggs and some bacon as well. I grabbed a chair from the kitchen table and pulled it up to the counter before picking Jayden up and standing him up on the chair next to me.

"Ok now, where does mommy keep the bowls?" I inquired.

"Over there." He replied pointing to a cabinet.

I found the bowls along with some pans and started to set up the stove as Jayden directed me to where everything was. I started the coffee machine, knowing that not only I would need some, but Chloe would appreciate it too. I had already started cooking the bacon behind us as I poured the mix into the bowl adding the other ingredients needed and handed Jayden a big spoon.

"Alright my helper, let's mix." I said as I stood behind Jayden, helping him stir in the bowl.

He smiled up at me, "Zacky this is fun. I like cooking with you."

"Watch what you're doing little man. You're going to spill." I said as I peered over the top of his head, "I'm glad you're having fun."

I turned to check the bacon as Jayden kept stirring the pancakes. When I turned back around, Chloe sleepily walked into the kitchen smiling at us as she rubbed her eyes.

"Good morning sleepy head." I said smiling.

"Good morning sleepy head." Jayden repeated giggling.

"Good morning you two." She laughed as she kissed the top of Jayden's head and went over to the coffee machine pouring herself a cup, "Something smells good. What are you two boys making in here?"

"I'm cooking mommy. Look, pancakes." He said showing her what he was stirring in the bowl.

"Looks good baby. Zacky is lucky to have such a good helper." She smirked as she walked around to where I was standing by the stove and gently rested her hand on my shoulder.

"Sorry, I didn't want to wake you up. I hope you don't mind." I said over my shoulder to her.

"Not at all. How can I when you make coffee and keep Jayden occupied for longer than 5 minutes?" she smiled before gently kissing my cheek, "Thank you."

I felt my face blush as she walked around to the front of the kitchen island and sat in front of Jayden, sipping her coffee. Chloe was one of those people who needed coffee in the morning, much like Matt. She really hadn't changed much over the years she was away.

I turned back to Jayden, grabbing another bowl and breaking some eggs in it before handing him a whisk.

"Ok Jay, you can stir this one now and I'll start making you some Mickey Mouse pancakes." I said as I took the other bowl from him, catching Chloe's smirk as she watched.

"So boys, what do you want to do today?" Chloe asked after another minute.

"Can we go to the beach mommy?" Jayden asked excitedly.

"How about it Zee? Beach? I'm sure you have one in mind?" she smirked as I turned around to glance at her for a moment.

"Sure I do. The old spot?" I asked.

"Sounds good to me. It's kid friendly which is good for this one." She said pointing to Jayden.

"Beach it is." I replied as I flipped a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake.

I finished cooking, of course with the help of my little helper, and we sat and ate breakfast together at the table. This time after eating Chloe gathered up the dishes and started washing them in the sink, ushering Jayden and I out into the living room to clean up our pillow fort. Of course that didn't go as she probably had hoped as Jayden crawled inside and I pretended to be the monster attacking him in tickles. We were under the blankets and I was tickling Jayden, his laughter filling the living room before the blanket was ripped off my head and Chloe stood there with her hands on her hips shaking her head at us.

"You two... I said it was time to clean up so we can go to the beach." She scolded.

"But mommy, Zacky is the monster..." Jayden giggled as I got in a few more tickles.

"I don't ca-" Chloe started to say before I grabbed her by her hips and tossed her down on the pillows and started tickling her sides.

"Muahahhaha!" I chuckled evilly as Jayden started to help tickle his mother, "Get her Jayden!"

"Oh God! Stop....Stop you two! Stop!" she cried in between her laughter before I finally let her breathe again.

"We got you mommy!" Jayden cheered laughing.

I extended my hand to Chloe, helping her sit up to regain her breath, "You got me good... but you cheated... Zacky knows where I'm ticklish."

"Do you know where Zacky is ticklish mommy?" Jayden asked.

She smirked at me deviously, "I sure do son."

Before I knew it she jumped on my lap, pinning my arms above my head as she yelled to Jayden, "Get him right under there Jayden!"

I laughed hard as Jayden and even Chloe tickled my ribs and under my arms, trying desperately to squirm out from under Chloe. I wasn't trying to get out from her because of the tickling so much as having her on my lap was making me excited and I really didn't want a boner in front of my son because of his mother. I got out from under her and crawled away from them both, finding a blanket and wrapping it around myself to block them from tickling.

"Ok... Ok... let's clean up... then I gotta run home and grab some swim shorts so we can go to the beach." I panted.

"Can I come too?" Jayden asked.

"We are all going to the beach Jayden." I said.

"No, can I come to your house Zacky?" He questioned.

I didn't know what to say because I knew that if I walked in the house with this boy, my mother and father would instantly know he was my son. There really was no mistaking it with that raven hair and bright green eyes. I didn't tell my parents or even my brother, Matthew that Chloe was back in town yesterday when I came home to grab some clothes. Mom had asked where I was going and all I had told her was I was staying over at a friend's. I wasn't ready to tell her she was a grandma. She had enough going on with my sister, Zina getting married in a few weeks.

"Uh... why don't you get ready here with mommy and I'll be back before you know it. I promise I'll be fast." I answered.

"Ok... I guess so." Jayden said putting his head down sadly.

"Jayden, I promise you can go to Zacky's house another day alright?" Chloe said looking into Jayden's eyes, trying to cheer him up, "You can meet your uncle Matthew and your aunty Zina then ok?"

"Ok mommy. You promise I can come another day Zacky?" He asked me.

"I promise Jay." I said as I took the blanket off from around me and started to fold it.

I helped Chloe fold the blankets as Jayden stacked the pillows on the floor. I took the blankets and pillows that I had gotten out of the closet and headed upstairs to put them away. I didn't notice another set of footsteps behind me until I turned around to see Chloe standing there.

"You didn't tell them yet did you?" she asked.

"They don't know you're even home. I only saw them for a few minutes yesterday. Plus Zina is getting married in a few weeks and my mom is already crazy about that." I replied rubbing the back of my neck nervously.

"How long are you going to wait to tell them?"

"I was going to wait until you wanted to tell Jay... that way my mom doesn't blow it like I'm sure she would." I answered.

"Ok. If you want to tell them sooner, you can. I just don't want Jayden to know yet... not until you're sure about this." She said.

"I think it's best to wait. Mom would blow it."

"Alright. I do want them to know though Zee. Jayden already has one set of grandparents that won't acknowledge him, I at least know that your parents wouldn't do that to him." She responded.

"Yeah, are you going to try to get your parents to come around? I mean, you could tell them now since I'm here..." I suggested hearing the pain in her voice about the way her parents treated our son.

"Maybe but not anytime soon." She said as we headed back downstairs. "I haven't talked to them in 3 years. Jake is the communicator if anything."

"Well, I'd like to try to help you make it right." I offered.

"I didn't do anything wrong." She said defensively.

"I know you didn't, but for his sake," I said nodding at Jayden who was watching TV, "I'd like to help make it right."

"Thank you. We'll see." She said before turning off the TV, "Alright Mr. Baker, get upstairs so we can get your swim clothes on. Zacky is going to go home and come right back and when he does we can go."

"Yay! Beach!" Jayden said sliding off the couch and running up to me, wrapping his arms around my legs, "Come back soon Zacky. I'll miss you."

I almost lost my composure at his words and crouched down and he wrapped his arms around my neck as I wrapped mine around his little body, "I promise I'll be back really soon."

I stood up and grabbed my keys from the table by the door, slipping my shoes on before slipping out the door and to my car. I raced home and bolted into the house with a big smile on my face, nearly running into Matthew as he reached the bottom of the staircase.

"Whoa Zack, where's the fire?" he asked as I walked down the hall and into the kitchen.

My mother was there making something to eat for my father and she grabbed me by the arm as I made to go for the garage door.

"Zachary, you don't even say hello to your mother? Where are you running off to?" she asked before seeing my smile, "Or should I be asking who are you running off with?"

"Hi mom. I'm going to the beach with some friends." I said as I opened the garage door and went out into the darkened room.

"Didn't you just spend months with those guys every day and now you're going to the beach with them? You guys don't get sick of each other?" she called out from the doorway as she turned the light on for me.

"Not them mom... Different friends..." I said as I rummaged thru some boxes of clothes.

"Like who? I haven't seen you so happy to go meet up with friends like this in a long time? Is it a girl?"

"Really mom?!" I asked incredulously, "I'm not a kid anymore."

"No, but you're my kid." She replied.

"It better not be that slut Joanna that you were living with." Zina called out into the garage from next to my mother.

"No Zina... It's not Joanna. I stopped seeing her a long time ago..." I sneered back as I found my swim shorts in the bottom of a box.

"Well who is it then?" Zina asked as I brushed past her into the kitchen.

"An old friend I haven't seen in a long time..." I said kissing her and my mother on the cheek as I made my way to the bathroom, "Don't worry about it. You'll see in time."

"You'll see in time? What is that supposed to mean?" Zina asked thru the door.

"It means, you'll see." I replied as I changed into my shorts.

"Well when are you going to be back? Are you coming home for dinner?" my mother asked as I emerged from the bathroom with a towel over my shoulder.

"I'm not sure... I'll probably be home for dinner. Really I don't know though..." I told her as I left my shoes by the door and slipped on my flip-flops.

"Can you call then if you aren't coming?" She asked.

"Sure mom. I can do that. Love you guys." I said kissing my mother and Zina's cheek again before heading out the door.

When I got back to the house, Jayden opened the door excitedly in his little black surf shorts and flip-flops.

"Where's mommy Jay?" I asked him.

"She's making snacks in the kitchen." He said letting me in.

I walked into the kitchen to see Chloe with her back to me in nothing but her bright red string bikini top and what had to have been the tiniest shorts in existence. They were so small that the bottom of her ass was peeking out of the bottom of them. I licked my lips as I walked around the kitchen island silently checking out her beautiful figure.

"Could you have found smaller shorts Chlo?" I teased as I came up beside her at the counter.

She shoved me with her shoulder as she blushed with a smile, "Shut up Zee... they're for the beach."

"Yeah, anywhere else you'd be cited for indecent exposure." I joked.

"Shut up." She giggled as she sealed up the last Ziploc bag of goldfish for Jayden, dropping it into her beach bag on the counter, "Go get Jayden in the car. He couldn't stop talking about you while you were gone."

"Oh really now... what did he tell you?" I asked intrigued.

"He told me how much fun he had with you last night making the fort and how much fun he had making breakfast with you this morning." She smiled.

"Well, I know I had fun too." I said before grabbing the bag off the table for Chloe and making my way to the living room to get Jayden.

Notes

Sorry I didn't realize that I updated on Wattpad and not here. Another chapter to follow... maybe 2... actually probably 2. Sorry!!

Comments

oh man that was rough.
makes sense that Jake pays for part or most of the house. and i get that he doesnt want her to get hurt, but at the same time, its not really fair the way he is acting. like, he didnt abandon them for 3 years, he didnt even know. so there is nothing really to be mad at. i mean zacky is beyond out of line playing wingman with chloe there or not, but jake cant like dictate what she should do. so many conflicting emotions from everyone, but thats what makes stories good! i really hope he doesnt actually move out tho. that would be confusing and sad for jayden.

Yes it is and it's much easier there. I may start to only update there if this site doesn't get any better. If I do I will put the link as the last chapter here.

ughhh i love this story but these last 2 chapters have had me so stressed (but in a good way, if i get this invested it obviously means its good writing). but like...zacky is just not having a good night. first jojo shows up. and i mean he cant really control that and of course he was allowed to date. and im glad that he told chloe what happened. but then i also feel bad for jojo. i mean sure she might be a "gold digger," but she clearly did love him at one point and he did really hurt her. he cheated on her over and over again and was clearly still in love with someone else. poor thing. but she needs to get some self respect and go home instead of begging to get back into the green room! omg. so awkward.

but then with these other 2 girls. like cant someone else be the wingman. like brian or jimmy? and how is this helping anyone. like why doesnt johnny just take his girl back home now and they can drop the other girl off or something. like zack doesnt need to be there. its not fair to him and johnny should know that. and where are his friends. they should go regulate. and poor chloe. like she is putting on brave face, but its like that awkward thing where everyone knows or expects you to be hurting and then read any slight shift in ur face as u breaking down. sooooo awkwarddddd....

anyway. cant wait for next chapter. hope she tells jayden soon. i really liked when zack like looked at the phone after jayden hung up. that was adorable.
