Sweet As Candy

The next morning I woke up and saw that Jimmy had moved and was now sleeping on my stomach making me smile, I ran my fingers through his hair then picked up my phone and looked at the time, it was almost 8 and I had gotten a text from Val last night around 10. It was a picture of Zack face first on the couch with the empty bottle of Jack in his hand “he cried on me for an hour last night” is what she texted under it so I sighed and called her


‘hello?’ she asked sleepily ‘hey sorry I just woke up to and got your text’ ‘oh, hold on’ she whispered, so I nodded even though she couldn’t see me and I heard her moving around ‘ok, yeah, after you and Jimmy left Zack cried into my chest for an hour after finishing the bottle of Jack because he thought you and Jimmy were dating’ she whispered and I sighed softly then looked down when I felt Jimmy move a little, he had his eyes barely open so I kept running my fingers through his hair to keep him sleepy


‘I don’t know what to say, I can't believe he’s taking his harder than I am’ ‘yeah I know and I hate to ask but can you come and get him’ ‘yeah, I’ll be over soon’ ‘thanks girl’ ‘no problem’ I said, we said bye then hung up ‘who’s that?’ ‘Val, I have to go get Zack off her couch’ I said and Jimmy nodded a little then yawned ‘can you drop me at home? I rode to Matt’s with Brian’ ‘of course’ I smiled, he smiled back then leaned up and kissed my cheek, got up and pulled on pants, a shirt and his shoes.


I got up also and pulled on a dress with heels then we headed out after we made sure we had everything. I dropped Jimmy at home then went over to Matt and Val’s and just walked in. Val poked her head out of the kitchen to look at me ‘oh, just you’ she said and I laughed a little ‘where is he?’ I asked and she motioned me over to the living room, when we walked in Zack was still face down on the couch making me sigh


‘I'm sorry, I don’t mean to put you guys in the middle of whatever the fucks going on with us’ ‘hey were all family, it would’ve happened anyway’ ‘yeah, thanks for keeping him’ ‘thanks for taking him’ she laughed, I did to then walked over and kneeled in front of Zack and pulled the bottle out of his hand slowly and handed it to Val, she took it then walked into the kitchen to throw it away. I ran my hand slowly over Zack’s back and started talking softly to him


‘Zack, time to wake up’ I whispered as I pushed some of his hair behind his ear ‘nooooo’ he whined and I smiled ‘yes, come on, I'm gonna take you home’ I whispered again and he finally opened his eyes and looked at me ‘Candy?’ ‘Yeah, I'm here’ I said and he smiled then sat up slowly and grabbed his head ‘here’ I heard Val say as she walked into the living room with some Advil and a water bottle, Zack thanked her and took the drugs and drank all the water ‘come on, let’s go back to my place’ I said softly, he nodded a little and I helped him stand up.


Val handed me this back pack and I took it then told her I’d talk to her later, I helped Zack in my car then drove to McDonalds and grabbed some food. When we got home I made his eat and drink his coffee so he’d feel better and he started to after about an hour. ‘I think we need to talk’ I said softly as I sat next to him on the couch and crossed my legs right over left, he nodded a little and looked down at his hands


‘Zack, Jimmy and I aren't together and we’re not getting together. He’s one of my best friends and that’s how it’s going to stay, we were just playing around yesterday when we kissed. Sure it was nice but we don’t like each other like that’ I said and he nodded a little but didn’t look at me ‘come on, tell me how you're feeling’ I whispered as I grabbed his hands, he sighed and sniffled a little then looked over at me


‘I feel like, you don’t love me anymore, at all. I know that I should’ve picked you over April but I didn’t know what to do, I thought she was pregnant and I wanted to do the right thing. I didn’t know that she was cheating on me, and I know I cheated on her with you but that’s different, I cheated for love, she cheated because she didn’t love me. When I found out that she was cheating it just broke me, I know I'm not handsome and fit and I just feel like no one loves me because you're mad at me and don’t love me anymore and I don’t know what to do’ he explained then started crying some and that just hit me like a truck, right in the heart


‘Zack’ I whispered as I kneeled in front of him ‘you are the most amazing, handsome, loveable person I know do not talk about yourself like that because it’s not true! I was mad at you yes, but I got over it, I know you just wanted to do the right thing and I would’ve done the same. I love you Zack, with all my heart, that’s why I got so upset with you. If I didn’t love you then I wouldn’t have acted like that and I know that deep down you know I love you’ I said gently,


he just looked at me for a while then started crying harder so I sat back up on the couch and held him tight to my chest until he calmed down ‘you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray, you'll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take, my sunshine, away’ I sang softly and I felt him smile on my chest a little so I pulled back to look at him and wipe away his tears ‘I don’t know how long it’ll take us to get back to where we were, but don’t ever feel like I don’t love you because I do’ I said and he nodded,


I smiled and kissed his forehead then I heard him take a deep breath to calm himself down some more ‘do you wanna stay with me tonight or do you wanna go home?’ ‘Can I stay here?’ ‘Of course, let’s go get you some clothes’ I said as I stood up, he nodded and did the same then grabbed his bag and we headed out and over to his house. He showered then grabbed some clothes, I took him to his car then we went back to my place ‘so, what do you wanna do?’ I asked and he shrugged a little ‘how about we watch movies, like we used to’ ‘Can we have a marathon?’ he asked and I nodded happily, he smiled and hugged me tight,


I hugged back and looked up at him, when he started leaning down I moved my head a little ‘sorry’ he whispered sadly ‘its ok, but I think we should take things slow, until we really know what’s going on between us’ ‘that’s ok, but, can we still cuddle?’ ‘Yeah’ I smiled, he smiled back and I pulled away from him then headed upstairs to change into comfy clothes since Zack was already in some. I threw on a batman shirt and shorts then grabbed the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and headed back down to see that Zack had gotten drinks and popcorn. I just smiled and turned on the tv and dvd player, put the first movie in then walked over to the couch and cuddled up to Zack as I hit play.
