Banned in a book

Sam’s POV

Thank god it was Sunday, I mean… I didn’t have to leave the house and this way Brian and I could start to get to know each other and start to think of a combat plan on how to come along with each other during the next days.
“So, how about you are my cousin from somewhere… I don’t know far away… And came to visit and since you don’t know this area I have to take you along?” I asked Brian who chuckled.
“A cousin from far away? I think your friends know about your cousins or?” Brian asked and I had to admit, yes… but that’s only Selena… and she knew the truth now anyway.
“Okay okay… So the boyfriend thing? I mean, that’s just weird, why haven’t I told anyone about you before?” I asked and Brian shrugged.
“Because we were not really sure if it would work and we wanted to keep it a secret long enough and maybe… I could come from somewhere far away?” Brian added the last part of the sentence making fun of me and I threw a pillow at him.
“Very funny.”

“Maybe you are British? Can you speak a British accent?” I asked him and Brian just lifted his eyebrow at me.
“Okay, not British, fine.”
“A long distance relationship and now I moved in with you to test if it works? And after a month, I’m gone and we realized it’s not working? That would explain a lot… I mean.. if I’m a cousin how will you explain that I’m gone and never show up again… You could make up all the ugly stories about that asshole boyfriend you had… from somewhere far away…”
“I don’t need another asshole boyfriend, ex-husband was enough.” I muttered more to myself but Brian looked at me curious, but I waved it away.
“Okay, fine… I think you are right.. the boyfriend thing does explain that, so that it will be. Oh and I have to attend a wedding this months, so be prepared…” I told him and pointed a finger at him, but he looked out of the window, not really paying attention to me anymore.
“Hmm… wedding.. alright…” Brian nodded absently.
“Are you alright?” I asked and his head snapped up to me.
“Yes, sure… I’m good… So what is the plan for tomorrow?” He quickly changed the topic and I thought for a moment to ask again but decided against it.
“Well… shopping apparently… you need some clothes and we need a mattress or something, you can’t keep sleeping on the floor…”

My phone started to ring again when Brian was just about to reply to me.
I saw Selena’s number and damn… I didn’t know what to say or how to react to her, I didn’t know what was going on either… at the moment I was just going with the flow… and trying to come to terms with my guest for a month… genie in a book or not.

“Should I?” Brian voice sounded close to me and I flinched a little.
He held his hand out for the phone and I frowned… but why the hell not.
“Okay…” I let the phone fall to his hand and he picked up but putting loudspeaker on.
“SAMANTHA, how dare you hang up on me” Selena’s voice sounded through the speaker.
“Sam, is not here at the moment… Can I help you?” Brian asked and damn, he smirked and looked way too sexy for his own good.
“What the… where is… and who are… are you… from the… I mean… Book?” Selena asked just throwing in words and Brian smirk got wider.
“Yup… I’m Brian, and that’s me. Thanks for releasing me from that book, by the way… and talking to me every now and then…” Brian said and I looked at him wide eyed, he heard what we said? When he was in the book?
He saw us?
He… oh my…

Brian’s POV

I chuckled when Sam’s friend didn’t reply at first, but then questions were rushing out of her and I couldn’t answer them… like most of the time, I was asking all these questions myself.
At some point I handed the phone over to Sam and gave her some privacy.
I walked onto the terrace looking into the night sky…
A feeling of loneliness was washing over me, even though I wasn’t lonely right now… but it felt like I was missing someone… or maybe more than one?
Was I normally living with someone?
Did I have a normal live?

It’s not like I haven’t asked myself this questions before, I did have… a lot… but Sam made me think about this more… She asked me what I liked and disliked… about family… did I have family?
I couldn’t remember… all was gone… black, every time I wanted to remember something I was greeted by blackness.
Why was Sam interested in me anyway?
None of the other women had asked me these questions, they didn’t care, they knew I was gone after a month, so why bother getting to know someone…
Why was she different?

I shook my head, I shouldn’t think about this so much, I mean the women were right… why bother…
I’m gone after a month… fuck this.
I walked back into the living room seeing that Sam hung up the phone and looked at me.
“So… what do you want to eat? I could cook us something? Or we could order? I don’t know what you like so-” Sam asked and I interrupted her.
“Don’t bother… just do what you like… I’ll take what I get.” I told her, why bother with me… why ask me.
Damn it, Brian… don’t think about this… It doesn’t matter!
“Oh.. okay.. and if I order… what do you want?” Sam asked and tried to get around my none-answer.
“Pizza… just a pizza… Salami or something… that’s fine.” I told her.
She nodded, not looking too happy with my answer.

“Sam, can I use the shower? I need to… I mean…” I shrugged and she nodded.
“Sure, here downstairs is a shower, too. First room to the right.” She pointed down the hall and I nodded.
“Towels are in the cupboards… just use what you need.” She smiled and I headed down the hall without another glance backwards.
I took the shirt I burrowed off and the jeans and boxers and let myself be soaked from the hot water, god how good this felt… like I haven’t been showering in years… has it been years?
I pushed the thought away and soaped myself up and when I was done, I stayed under the spray a moment longer before I could finally bring myself to turn off the water.
I would take every chance I get to shower, or bath… does she have a bathing tube?

I quickly dried myself up and slung the towel around my hips, opened the door just in time to see Sam had open the front door to a young delivery guy.
“Hey Sam, your order… I went your way first.” The delivery guys said and smiled at Sam.
She smiled back and nodded “That’s nice, Jeremy. Thank you.”
“Always when I see your name on the inbox, I mean… don’t want you to starve, got another girl’s evening?” the boy asked and I closed the door behind me a little louder than necessary.
“Oh..” The boy looked my way, as did Sam, she swallowed thickly and I saw her eyes moving from my wet hair, down my shoulders, chest, my abs, stopping at the towel on my hips and back up, I felt her eyes on me like a caress and if she wouldn’t stop that soon, my appreciation of her liking to see me that way would be very visible through that towel.
“I.. no.. not a.. that’s not-” Sam stuttered and I smiled
“Not a girl’s evening apparently… I’ll get dressed quickly and we can eat, right babe?” I said and Sam nodded, handing the cash to the guy who looked from Sam to me and back.
“Sorry, I didn’t.. I mean..” the guy muttered before taking the money and turning.
“Don’t worry. Bye Jeremy…” Sam yelled when the kid vanished with a yelled “Bye Sam.”
I grinned and let myself plop down on the couch, since I didn’t have anything else to dress in, the towel would have to do for now…
