Sudden departure

Sam’s POV

I looked wide eyed at Selena, what the hell? Did I just imagine that?
This couldn’t be true… I mean, there was nothing like magic, right? She was playing a trick on me?
Was some friend jumping out of the bushes now?
She MUST be trying to prank me… that was it… no other way… there couldn’t be any other way.

My heart was pounding faster and I grabbed Selena’s hand, even though I knew this must be some stupid joke…
Maybe the alcohol was playing in on this as well… I did drink more than normally… maybe I couldn’t handle the wine?
“Selena? Did you hear that? Do you see that?” I asked my voice barely a whisper.
“Yes…” Selena said the wind picked up and the cold night air was suddenly becoming a harsh breeze, whipping my hair around my face and I took a step back.
“Tell me this is a joke… a stupid joke, Selena. Right now!” I demanded and she stood there still frozen in shock.
“It’s no joke.. I didn’t.. I mean…” Selena seemed to get out of her freeze and made a step forward.
“Please let it work…” I heard her whisper and couldn’t believe my ears, was she real?
“Selena-” My words died on my lips when suddenly the bushes rustled again and a black cat jumped out of it and the rustling stopped, the wind stopped and the moon got clouded over.

I didn’t even notice I was holding my breath but let all the air slip from my lungs in one long go.
And then I realized what just happened and began to laugh hysterically.
“Oh my… what has gotten into us…” I said between laughs and saw Selena turning towards me.
“I think my Mr. Right is this black cat, so I will be an old lonely lady with a cat.. that’s what this chant should say to me?” I asked still chuckling but saw Selena disappointed face.
“Selena, come on… It was fun… you got me there for a second… You knew this wouldn’t work, right? Someone tricked you with this book, it’s just a joke… there is nothing like magic. I told you that before… now let’s get back inside, before we catch a cold.”
Selena nodded but still looked really sad and I didn’t know how to cheer her up anymore, I mean… how could she really think this would work?

I grabbed the glass of red wine and drowned the rest of it, how come I could think this would work?!
Just stupid…
We sat back down on my couch and I grabbed Selena’s hand, “It was worth a try, maybe you are right and I’ll find my Mr. Right? If you want to, we go out next weekend and you know that means a lot coming from me…” I smiled and Selena nodded.
“Thanks, now I’m feeling even worse, you have to cheer me up on your birthday.” Selena gave me a small smile and I grinned.
“Better than the other way around, me complaining I’m old and boring.. and all the stuff that is true.” I joked and she shook her head “You really had too much wine.”

We settled back on the couch and just started watching movie number three when her phone began to ring.
“It’s Trevor” She smiled and damn, sometimes I really was jealous of her and what she had with this guy.
“Hey babe, are you-”
“Oh hey Brent… Where is Trevor? In what? Where? Is it bad?” Selena rushed out and I held my breath, oh no, hoping it was nothing bad.
“Okay, no.. No problem. I’ll be there in 20. I mean I…” She looked at me and I nodded at her.
“Okay, yes. Send the address… bye.” She hung up and looked at me.
“Trevor is in the hospital. That was his team member Brent, he had an accident at the training, they brought him there… I need to pick him up… but if you…” She looked confused.
“Don’t worry, Selena. Is it bad? What happened?” I asked and she looked at me, “No, it’s just his ankle… but his team mates can’t bring him home and he got bandaged and is not allowed to drive… I could also call him a-” Selena started and I interrupted her.
“No, are you okay to drive, or should I come a long? Or?” I asked waving away her idea.
“No, I didn’t drink as much as you did… I’ll be fine, but you okay with me leaving you alone?” She asked and I hugged her.
“I’m fine. Will head to bed soon anyway, now go, before Trevor decides you won’t show up anymore and walks or something.” I winked at her and brought her towards the door and she gave me a sad smile.
“I’m sorry, sweetie… Really… I’ll make up for it…” Selena said and kissed my cheek before heading out of the door.
“Don’t worry and wish Trevor the best from me… Call me tomorrow.” I yelled and she nodded then climbed into her car and I watched her drive off.

I walked back into the living room, grabbed the empty plates, bottles and glasses and brought them into the kitchen.
I tried to clean up the messy table and looked around satisfied, I would pick up the pillows tomorrow.
It was late already anyway, nearly one… I should head to bed and call it a day…
My birthday was over… another year gone by…

But somehow I was drawn outside again, I opened my terrace door and looked back at the bushes, the black cat was gone, the wind was still… the book… where was the book?
I didn’t bring it back inside?
Did Selena?

I haven’t seen her with it… I held it in my hands… dropped it… but where was it then?
I looked around the terrace, went down towards the garden, when the heavy breeze started did it fall off?
But it was so heavy, hard cover… strange… Maybe Selena took it inside with her after all.
I opened the door again, shut it and looked around the living room, the book lay there on my table, opened in the middle, and I frowned…
What the hell… What happened here?

“Where the hell am I now?” A male voice sounded from my kitchen and I opened my eyes wide.
I quickly turned towards the sound and stared at a tall and lean man, standing in the doorway of my kitchen.
He had his back towards me, I held my hand in front of my mouth, didn’t want to let him know I was there… what should I do?
How did he get into my house?
What does he want from me?

What are my options now? Running? Screaming?
Could I open the terrace door, being fast enough to escape?
Front door? But I had to sprint past him… was he quick?
He was tall and lean, assuming he was quick, so that idea was dismissed.
Phone? But my phone was in my bag near the door… also not an option apparently.

A whimper escaped my mouth and he must have heard it and turned around facing me.
“Please don’t scream!” His voice was smooth and his face reminded me of something… but what?
Anyway just one option left, “HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!”

Such a good story. I read this a few years ago, and reread it again recently. Yep. Still love it.

So I'm reading the summary and it says Brian treats his woman not worth his time. But how does he treat them? Anyways going to start this. Let's see how this goes. Maybe it'll he explained in the story?

Babe! I know I´m a little late, sorry for that...

The end has been marvellous, the band scene (you are soooo good at them, you know it!) and then the perfect smut, the get together of Brian and Sam, her hearing the sweet words... As I said A-MA-ZING!

This story has been great from minute one, you took a different path and you rocked it! On a site with so many fan stories, so many the same fan stories, you found a plot that had never been done before and completely nailed it.

I loved every chapter, every paragraph, every sentence, every word! But hey, I might be a little biassed, seeing I just love your writing!

Please do another story soon! I know you, there must be an idea swimming around in that pretty little head of yours! Or if not... maybe it will come to you over the weekend, when you visit my country ;-)

Luv you babe! <3
