Banned in a book

Matt’s POV

We had left really early, so we had the whole day at Big Bear, only problem was, Johnny forgot to fill up the tank before leaving.
So we had to make our first stop in Santa Ana at some gas station at the highway.
Which wasn’t too bad to be honest, Johnny was filling up the tank, while Jimmy and Zacky planned on getting us some snacks and beer for the drive.
So Johnny would be stuck driving alone, while we could get our buzz already started.

I walked out of the gas station and crossed path with a young woman. I smiled at her and she returned my smile. I saw her looking at me from head to toe, her eyes lingering on my colorful arms then up to my face, and the smile just got bigger.
I took the same time takin her in, she looked gorgeous, if I say so.
I turned back to the car, when she went around the corner.
I looked if the others were already back, but I couldn’t see anyone, so I decided to take my chance with the unknown woman and maybe add a number to my phone book.

I walk around the corner quickly, wanting to catch up with the woman, when a guy runs into me, he doesn’t look up and without even apologizing he quickly walks past me.
“Watch out!” I tell him but he was gone.

I frowned and made another step forward, when I saw the woman from earlier on the ground, her phone beside her, she was trying to get up.
“He stole my bag!” She yells at me and I took a step towards her but she shakes her head “I’m fine.”
“Stay there.” I tell her and take off into the direction the guy just passed me.

I see him walking quickly trying not to get too much attention. I did the same and when I was sure I can make the distance, I sprinted towards him. He realized too late that I am actually running towards him but he still tries to get away from me. In the last moment I could grab his jacket to slow him down and throw myself on top of him.
“Stop asshole.” I yell at him and he lands beneath me.
“Fuck off.“ He tries to kick me but I block him. I grab the bag from the woman and he tries to snatch it away again.
“Give me that.” I shove his face into the ground and he finally let the bag slip from his grip.
I take the bag and slung it around my shoulder. He kick’s me off him, when I let my grip slip.
I grunt hitting the ground with my back, but not letting the bag fall of my shoulder.
He gets up and starts of in a dead run, he apparently gave up on the bag, knowing I would win this fight in the end anyway.

I push myself of the ground and saw the woman run towards me. I had the bag slung around my shoulder, resting on my back. I begin to pat the dust of my clothes, and realized I had lost my cap somewhere during the fight.
“Oh my god, look at me! Are you alright? Are you hurt?” The woman touched my cheek making me look at her, and I didn’t know why but I feel my cheeks heat up.

I open my mouth to reply, but she just rushes on “You shouldn’t have…” She stops looking at me more closely.
“I’m good…” I reply finally and she smiles “Thank god.”
“I’m Selena. Thank you for running after him, you shouldn’t have. It’s just a bag…” She shook her head and made me realize that she thought I didn’t get her bag back. I lift the strap of my shoulder and hold the bag out to her.
“Here… I think that’s yours oh and I’m Matt, by the way…” Her face lights up with an even brighter smile, her eyes shining, making my heart pound a little faster.
“Oh my! You got it?!” She jumps up and hugs me enthusiastically and I can’t help but catch her in my arms and bury my face in the crook of her neck.

“YO MATT! We wanna leave…” Zack yells over at me and I feel Selena pull away, making me want to kick Zack’s ass for the bad timing.
“Sorry, how can I make up for.. the trouble.. I didn’t wanna take up all the time of your break.” She says and pulls her wallet out as if she meant to give me money.

I push her hand and wallet away from me making her frown “How about you invite me to dinner? Are you from here?” I ask and frown, since when did I want to go to dinner with a woman, why didn’t I just ask for her number…
“I.. can’t…” Selena says shaking her head.
“Why?” I wouldn’t let go so easy.
“SHADZ!!! We are waiting!” Jimmy yells and I flip him off.
“Why?” I repeat and she looks around “I’m not from here, I’m just here for a trip with my friends…” She says but looks uncomfortable.
“Me too” I say and grin and she chuckles.

“Selena??” I hear someone call and she turns around.
“Sorry, that’s my friends… I need to go.” She turns away but hands me a card. “If you think of something on how I can make this up to you, just call me.”

I nod and she walks away from me, she looks over her shoulder a final time and I smile. When my eyes wander behind her I see another woman and a tall guy holding hands walking towards her.
The guy and I stare at each other and I frown, he looks familiar, but then he looks at Selena and I can’t seem to get a hold on my thoughts again.
Where I have seen him before?
His eyes widen when he looks at me again, then he narrows his eyes and pulls Selena to his other side and they walk away.

Brian’s POV

Selena came walking towards us, her clothes were full of dust and her hair a mess.
“What happened?” Sam takes Selena’s shoulder in her hands, looking at her worried.
“I got robbed.” She says quietly and immediately my eyes snap up to the direction Selena came from.
What strange was, Selena doesn’t sound scared or anxious, she sounded a little lost in thoughts.
“You got what?” Sam cries and Selena finally looks up, a small smile tugging on her lips.

I saw a tall guy standing there, looking after Selena and for a moment I thought I have seen him before, but where?!
How could I have seen him before?
Someone yells his name “SHADZ! NOW!” And that voice sounds even more familiar.
I shake my head, more important was Selena now.

“What happened?” I ask and pull Selena in my side, guiding her back to the motel.
“I was trying to reach Trevor, but couldn’t get a hold of him, suddenly someone from behind grabs my bag and shoves me to the ground.” Selena says, the smile not leaving her lips which made me frown even more.
“Are you alright? Are you hurt?” Sam asks worried and Selena nods then shakes her head.
“I’m good. Perfect…” She grins and I saw Selena and Sam look at each other, then both turn around and look at the SUV driving from the gas station, the windows are tinted black so you couldn’t see who was inside, but both girls seem to know.

“And?” I ask not getting everything apparently.
“And this guy, Matt… he came after me, saw me lying there and took off after the robber, he got my bag.” She says proudly holding her bag up and I shake my head.
“Wow, that’s was nice.” Sam says and looks at Selena curiously.
“Did you flirt with this guy? The savior?” Sam asks and Selena’s cheeks grew hot and I could have betted that nothing would be embarrassing for her but apparently I was wrong.
“I didn’t flirt. I thanked him. That’s all, don’t be ridiculous.” Selena waves her hand to dismiss Sam’s comment, but the smile was giving her away.

“Now, let me quickly change into another pants and brush my hair to make me more presentable and after that we leave, I have a dress to fit.” Selena says but her voice didn’t sound as enthusiastic as the last times when she spoke about it.
Maybe I should really talk to them again about my bad feelings towards Trevor, I know I wouldn’t be too long around, but I liked both of them too much to let her run into a marriage where she wouldn’t be happy…
