Brian's POV
I followed Matt up the stairs and walked down the long hall, passing old time photos of our town with his mother and
father standing in front of the house when it had just been built.
They were both smiling, holding a blanket that covered a sleeping baby Mathew.
it made me smile as I thought about when my
family were still all together..
Before my father left me..
Before Nicole died...

But that bitch Ashlee took it all away from me,...

I was in my third year of high school about two weeks before I dropped out, it was cold.... It was raining...
The skanky hoe had promised me she would get revenge on me for embarrassing her in front of the student body for rejecting her proposal for us to date. I hadn't taken her seriously back then, but it all changed after the fire..

I woke up that night to the smell of smoke and a soft orange glow coming down the hallway. I immediately shot out of bed, grabbing a scarf and wrapping it around my mouth so I could try and breathe, within seconds I could barely see, the black thick fog filled the house as I tried to make
my way down the hall to by little sisters room, flames licked at the ceiling as tears soaked my eyes
"cole!!!" I shouted, her bedroom door was closed so I grabbed the handle which was white hot to the touch.
the burning sensation sent chills through my body.
I tried busting the door down but it wouldn't budge, all I could hear was the roar of the beast as it tore my house apart.

My father had made it outside, his screaming as loud as the fire engines speeding towards our burning inferno which I used to call a home, one came inside and saw me lying against my sisters bedroom door and carried me out. I can barely remember what happened in there but they told me
my sister had suffered from smoke inhalation and had passed away in her sleep.

I could have saved her if I was faster, god if I only broke the door in she'd still be alive.

I turned to the sidewalk and I'll never forget what I saw..
A laughing Ashlee was gawking at the flames shooting from my roof, taking photos with her phone and making obscene gestures to me as I walked by.
I tried so hard to not kill her there and then, I should have. It would have spared so many people.

I remember bet not long after the fire my father packed all his things and told me he was leaving. I begged him not to leave me, he was all I had left but he insisted I stay with Matt and his parents who would know how to look after me properly.
I never saw him again after that...

I woke up from my day dream when I heard talking from behind Matt's door.
I knocked twice before entering and sat on his black quilt cover on his bed.
He was on the phone to someone and from the expression on his face I knew it was James.
Oh this wasn't going to be good.

Matts POV

i felt the vibration from my mobile under my
thigh as I lay horizontally on my king bed. The vibrations demanding I answer ASAP, the only person I kept my phone on silent for was for James.

His mother was the founder of this town.. And believe it or not they were both Vampires, not the nice kind either, I mean blood sucking, human hunting, vampires.

"Hello" I answered waiting for James to chew my
head off, there wasn't a thing in this town he didn't know about. He had the gift of sight and could see into any of the founder houses at any time he wished.

"Matthew" he cheerfully sung, "how are you dear friend"
"fine thanks jimmy, you?"
you see I went to school with Jimmy and although he was practically leading this place we were friends.
I could always tell by his tone of voice what kind of mood he was in, and today it seemed he was happy to have a nice conversation.

"I am fine thankyou Matthew, I was just doing my rounds when something very interesting caught my eye"
oh here we go, I sighed
"yes, I imagine you already know of our situation here"
"that is correct Matt, you understand my concern regarding a minor living outside of campus, do you not?" His cheery tone suddenly grew a little more unpleasant.

i was about to explain my plan of action when I heard footsteps stopping outside my door.

"It appears you are having a visit from Brian, hmmm I believe it is nesecery for me to pay a small visit"
"Oh I don't think that's needed" I tried to calm my nerves at the thought of James coming here. Brian would have a heart attack.
"Oh but I believe it is"

I tried to argue my case as Brian entered my room
"I'll be seeing you all shortly" James hissed through the speaker and hung up.

Brian sat on the edge of my bed and I sat at the head with my fingers about to crush the phone.
"oh I know that look" Brian frowned

i had to prepare for James' arrival. I patted Brian on the shoulder and walked to my cupboard, pulling open the tall boy draws and handing him a few viles of holy water and shoving a miniature cross bow into the back of my
pants.

"defense only Haner" I told him sternly, we didn't need to start a fight, these were for an emergency only.
I only hoped we didn't need to use them...
