Rush Together.

Landing Feet First.

Dahlia's POV--

Jimmy and I walked back into the house arm in arm, my nervousness now faded and my sadness about Zack burying itsself deep in my mind. I just wanted to catch up on everything that the guys had been doing since the band went big and try to forget about what had just happened and possibly get drunk. We walked into the living room where everyone had moved to and was now sitting in a circle. I awkwardly took my place beside Brian, who was looking at me with slightly hateful eyes. We all sat in Matt's spacious living room with beers in hand, just like old times. The silence was awkward and the atmosphere was heavy, especially between the guys and I. They looked among each other, but never directly at me. I felt like I needed to be the one to speak up and apologize for my neglect.

"Guys...I'm sorry. I've been a really, really shitty friend. I've neglected you all."

Brian was the first to speak up and you could tell he was trying to hide the hostility in his voice, looking at me directly as we were sitting next to each other. "What the fuck happened to you, man? You just disappeared."

"I know. I know I did..and I couldn't be more sorry. I got into some things I shouldn't have and I became so involved that--"

"She doesn't owe any of us an explanation. She's here now and that's all that matters."

I appreciated Matt defending me because pouring my heart out to the guys didn't seem the best thing to do right at this point in time. They all sat in an awkward silence, occasionally looking at each other and sipping on their beers. I finally raised mine in the air to propose a forgiveness toast.

"To new adventures with old friends."

Katrina and Matt were the first to clank their beers with mine. Slowly one by one, the rest of the guys clinked their beers with mine as well. Brian looked over at me with a slight smile on his face, but I could tell he was still upset with me. And with that, the night began. After a couple of hours and about ten shots of Jack Daniels later, the guys and I were all congregated onto the back porch, laughing about old times around a small fire that Matt had started. It felt just like old times, only we were talking about old times and it felt so strange to not be those eighteen year old hoodlums anymore that occasionally stuck a 40 oz. in our baggy Tripp pants so we could all share one at the park together. We were all adults now, pursuing things we only dreamed about as teenagers. I was in a drunken trance, watching everyone laughing an reminiscing about times that once were. I was broken from that trance by Matt bringing up mine and Zack's name in the same sentence.

"Remember the time we were all camping down at the lake and Zack and Dolly got drunk and decided to throw everyone's clothes in the water?" Matt laughed.

"And then they got naked and ran into the water on their own and started throwing our clothes at each other?" Jimmy said punching me in the shoulder.

My face was now a bright red shaded mixture of embarrassment and liquor and Brian and I had closed in on each other and his arm was now slung over my shoulder and his hand was almost touching the edge of my chest, which was sending my frazzled mind into shockwaves for some reason. Brian and I had never slept together nor had we ever done anything in all the time we'd known each other. I was surprised he was being so touchy. I thought he was still mad at me. I looked up into his dark brown eyes that were dialated slightly, probably because he was just as intixocated as I was. Something was sparkling there. Something I'd never seen in his eyes before.

"Hey! Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum! I said do you guys want another beer?!" Johnny asked, snapping his fingers in our faces.

"Oh, yeah..I'll get it. I need to go inside and cool off anyways." I said, standing up and leaving Brian in his seat.

"Hurry back! I was gonna tell the story about you and Zack filling up Matt's parents' hot tub with soap!" Katrina yelled to me as I walked inside.

As I walked into Matt's kitchen, the cool air hit me in the face. I'd forgotten just how hot California really was. There were tiny beads of sweat forming on my head and even the minimal clothing I was wearing was burning me up. I ran some water into a cup ane chugged it down quickly. For some reason, I couldn't stop thinking of Zack. All I wanted to do was talk to him and fix things. I hated that he was the only one who wasn't apart of my life anymore. As I was in deep thought, I heard footsteps behind me and I turned around to see Brian leaning against the doorway.

"Hey. Feeling okay?" He asked, walking towards me, which slightly made me nervous for some reason.

"Y, yeah. Just a little hot. I'm not used to the weather yet I guess." I leaned over the counter and wiped the sweat from my face.

"I can tell." he walked up an wipe a bead off the back of my neck, making me shiver at the touch of his cold, calloused fingers.

"Brian, can I ask you something?" He stood right up next to me, his shoulder touching mine.

"You know you can."

"Do you..do you think that Zack will ever speak to me again?" His body stiffened up a little and he looked me directly in the eyes.

"I mean, he's upset Dolly. I was too for a minute. But I got over it. The way he feels about this isn't like how I feel or Jimmy or Johnny or any of us. He's just a little mindblown right now. I can't guarantee he'll be nice about it, but I'm sure he'll talk to you again. Just enjoy this night. Relax." He said throwing his arm over my shoulder.

I leaned my head onto Brian and exhaled, relaxing myself and trying not to think about Zack. Something about Brian was becoming so alluring. It was probably the alcohol, but I didn't care. I just needed to forget.

"You know, even after all these years and all those tattoos, you still look as beautiful as the day I last saw you." He said, playing with a stray piece of my hair that had fallen down.

"Shut up. I'm ugly." I said, biting my lower lip.

He turned and faced me, grinning. "You're lying and you know it. You always bite your lip when you know you're lying."

I looked up into Brian's eyes as his hand slid from the piece of hair to my face, sliding down my chin and reaching up to my lip, gently rubbing it. I don't know what force came over me, or Brian for that matter, but I slipped my hand into his thick, black hair and pulled his face down to mine. We were now centimeters away from each other's faces, our lips on the verge of grazing each other. The intimate moment was interrupted by Johnny's whiny voice.

"You fuckers were supposed to come get beer, not makeout in the kitchen! We're all dying out here!"

"Fuck you, short shit! We're coming!" Brian yelled and walked up to the fridge, pulling out a few beers.

Brian stopped in front of me, handing me a couple of the beers, "We'll finish this later. You're staying with me tonight." he said as we walked back outside.

I handed Katrina and Johnny a beer as we sat back at the campfire. It was about eleven at night, which was early for us, so we all talked into the late hours of the night. By around one in the morning, I was completely trashed and acting like a fool.

"Guys, guys, guys. GUYS! I wanna go swimming. Can we go swimming?" I asked the guys, my voice terribly slurred.

I stood up and waddled my drunken ass over to the pool, attempting to wiggle out of my crop top before Brian ran up and pulled it back down.

"Okay, I think Dolly has reached her limit. I'm taking her home, guys." He said, wrapping his arms around my waist and guiding me towards the house.

"Wh..where are we going?" I asked, looking around.

"We're going home, Dolly. Time to sleep."

I made no arguement as we said goodbye to our friends and Brian helped me to his car. He had a black BMW, which is just what I expected from him. His house was what I expected too, pretty much an oversized bachelor pad, lots of black and lots of pictures of the band. He led me upstairs to his bedroom, which was large and maroon colored. I was so tired at that point for some reason. I slid my pants and top off and stood there in my black bra and panties, turning to face Brian who was redfaced.

"What? You act like you've never seen me in my underwear, Brian." I said stepping towards him.

My sultry, sexual side was showing and I didn't care. I just needed to relieve tension. I grabbed the bottom of Brian's shirt and pulled it up off of his muscular stomach, our bodies accidentally touching. His breath bitched in his throat, but he didn't hesistate to lift up his arms and let me slip the fabric off of him. His skin was smooth, tattooed and tan just like it always had been. Our faces were dangerously close, our lips on the verge of brushing until finally, Brian wrapped his hands around my waist and slammed our lips together in a hungry kiss. His tongue punctured my mouth, wrestling with mine in a deep battle for dominance as his hands snaked their wat from my hips to my ass. As I grazed my nails across his chest, he suddenly stopped, pulling back a little but grabbing my hands as he did so.

"We can't do this."

I was taken aback by his statement. "Why the hell not?"

"Because you're drunk. It's not right. I can't take advantage of you."

"Whatever." I pulled back and climbed onto the bed, slithering under the covers. Brian soon followed, wrapping his hand around my waist and pulling my body close to his so that my back was pressed against his warm chest. I attempted to pull away, but he just held me tighter.

"Just cuddle me, asshole. I haven't seen you in five years. Don't be mean to me." he whispered in my ear.

"Fine." I said lacing our fingers together.

After a few minutes, his grip loosened around my waist and he began faintly snoring and it wasn't long before I drifted off into sleep too. Little did I know that this was one of the few peaceful nights I would have in Huntington for a long, long time.
