The Big Three Words
Kim’s POV
I looked around the bar and then the empty plate in front of me, the dinner had been amazing as always. We were doing this as kind of a ritual for a couple of years now, at the same table, at the same day, with the same people.
Well, not right now… now it was just us… and that was nice as well.
“That is so not true and you know it!” I couldn’t believe he would throw that at me.
“What? It is the truth, don’t try to deny it!” He smirked at me, while he lifted my hand to his mouth and kissed my knuckles, with his dimpled smile, making me giggle like a small school girl ever again.
“Babe, you can deny it as much as you want, but it’s the truth and you know it.” He let go of my hand and had this very satisfied grin on his face, while leaning back in the chair.
“I cannot remember that… so it never happened.” I played stubborn and leaned back as well, crossing my arms over my chest smirking back at him.
“You cannot remember that?” Matt lifted his eyebrow at me, looking more than shocked, his mouth hanging open.
“I didn’t say I cannot remember everything, I said that specific part never happened.” I told him again and was trying hard to not laugh at his funny face.
“Hmm… really so you are still trying to deny it… Trying to deny that You, my lovely lady were the first one of us to say the big three words to me?” Matt smiled at me, showing the dimples that still made my stomach flutter every time seeing them.
“Like I said, never happened….” I grinned, remembering exactly when I said it and that he was completely right about it, that was nothing he needed to know… even though he already did know.
"Babe, better admit it... it's so cute that you were the one saying it... because I had all the work finding you after we parted that morning.. do you even know how many Kim's live in the Netherlands? No, you dont? But I do... and I was glad finally finding the right one, and now I think you better remember that it happened in that night, we shared… that night I met you, that night I had you, that night you stole your way not only in my pants but in my heart.” Matt laughed and I shook my head at him... poor him having a hard time finding me... but he made it... and here we are... but still...
“There were times when you were better with words and declaring your love for me, babe.” I had to chuckle.
“And when I remember correctly, that in my pants, was rather you stole your way in my bed not the other way around, my dear husband.” I played with the ring that was stuck on my finger now for more than 1 year and I loved to feel it, to make sure this wasn’t a dream, but this was real and that this funny, gorgeous and talented man was all mine.
“What?” Matt asked and I shook my head rousing from my small dream.
“I can’t believe how long that is ago… the first time we met…” I smiled and he nodded
“Yeah, tomorrow 5 years.” Matt nodded “5 of the best years in my life.”
I leaned forward and Matt met me half way, capturing my lips in a sensual kiss.
“Get a freaking room…”
“Can we order now? I’m starving…” I saw Mei trade a swift look with Leyla and then they moved to Brian, who cleaned his throat and was already signing for the waiter to come to our table.
“No you guys! Not this time! You’re not avoiding this topic for the fifth year, I won’t let you escape with this!” I tapped my hands on the table and signed for the waiter to move back. Poor guy. But I had enough of this hiding game. “Make it as my birthday gift, please!! I need to know!”
“Damn it Kim… Alright, we played a guessing game in the bus, we drank with the guys and then we noticed you two were gone. Then we separated in groups and started searching for you, that’s all. We didn’t find you so we decided to head back to the bus and wait until the day would start so we could find a police station. But then, you two appeared out of nowhere with the biggest and brightest grin on your faces like nothing had happened. You know that story already!” Leyla spat that text like she was reading something written for her to memorize. I bet she was omitting things.
“Okay, that I know. But Zack once told me, as drunk as he was, that he wanted you, Mei, when he first met you, but Brian had won you that night. Was he talking about that night!?” I provoked a little and observed the reactions around the table.
Zack had his eyes opened wide, he probably had no idea he had said that info to me. Brian was hiding his eyes in his palm, as if he was all shy now. Shy my ass! Leyla was trying to hold her laugh about to explode and Mei… well, Mei was red like a pepper.
“He really said that, huh?” Mei nodded to me and sent a killer gaze to Zack, who tried to avoid eye contact with any of us.
“I guessed she was german first. I won the freaking game alright? And Brian was the one who got the girl. Well, the girls…” Zack finally spoke up and I noticed Mei and Leyla sharing a long gaze, a surprised one.
“What? The girlS? Plural?” I could only open my biggest smile to them and well, now they would have to endure my mocking. “You hooked up with BOTH my friends that night, Gates?”
“Attaboy!” Matt raised his glass up and I elbowed him. That was wrong! Did they know that and never got a chance to tell me?
Leyla and Mei were still talking through their eyes.
“Wait a minute… I know I made out with Brian before he found out about us. But… did you… You too?” Leyla asked a little perplexed and Brian slipped down his chair a bit to try to hide from our judging looks.
“What? You made out with Brian before me and never told me??” Mei asked even more perplexed.
“Hey, you made out with him too! That’s how he found out about the tickets by the way… He found them in your pocket!” Zack stated and now Brian was almost sliding under the table out of shame. Mei too. I could tell they wanted to kill Z.
That was just hilarious to watch!
“And what about later in the bus? Those three slept so cuddled in the back room. I should’ve taken a picture when I had the chance…” Johnny added his words finally and that was enough for everyone in the table to have their jaws dropped.
“It was cold, alright?” Mei defended her side.
“And the big bed was more comfortable.” Brian finally spoke something, shyly.
“And warmer.” Leyla finished, and I could sense, she was using that naughty tone.
“Oh my god! I can’t believe you slept together!!! Why you girls never told me that?? I’m so hurt.” I pretended to cry just to mock them. “And I’m so gonna kick your ass when we are outta here, Haner!”
“No, in my defense, we didn’t sleep together in that way you’re thinking. We just… slept… together.” Brian tried again and I showed my fist to him. He couldn’t play my friends like that!!
“Well, he did tried to convince us in a threesome but…” Leyla added but I had to interrupt.
“WHAT!!!” I almost spat my drink on Arin when I heard it. “And you girls went for it?”
“NO!!!!” they both answered in unison to me but I had too many doubts to believe them. What happened that night would never be fully revealed, I guess… Ahh but someday they would have to tell me the whole thing. I’d make sure they would drink a lot for that.
“Eww… You kissed him before me so… I kissed you through him!!” Mei made a disgusted face to Leyla and she shrugged. “I need a lot of alcohol to erase that memory now.”
Leyla could only laugh with the others. But she had something to add there, like every year we discussed that topic and it would never get old in her opinion.
“All I know is that you guys hid your identities from us too and that makes up for everything that happened that night… I’m just saying…”
“Ahhhh not again with this, Leylaaa!!!” everyone booed her, including me, and we start throwing a few peanuts on her as she hid behind her own arms. We were all chuckling so hard. It seemed like that night in the snow had never ended.
“What time is it now?” Matt asked and I pulled my phone out, “It’s 5 before midnight.” I said and that meant my birthday was coming quickly.
Matt walked away from the table and just in time when all our friends were counting down the seconds to my next birthday he appeared again, with a waitress holding a small cake and himself carrying a bottle of champagne and glasses for all of us.
“Happy Birthday, Kim. May all your wishes come true” He kissed me and I wondered, doesn’t he already know that with him, and all our friends here, all my wishes indeed came true, I just needed everything to exactly stay like this… so that’s the wish.
“Okay, guys, we need to hurry and get home now, we will leave tomorrow morning at 11, so give us a little sleep at least.” Matt announced pulling me into his side and hugging my body to his, while he rested his chin on my shoulder.
“What? Leave where?” Arin complained together with Johnny.
“No way, you are not supposed to leave just now.” Leyla complained.
“Why? We are having a busy day tomorrow, right babe?!” Matt looked at me from the side and I nodded.
“You are always stealing our friend away from us on her birthday.” Mei pouted and Matt patted her on the shoulder.
“Well, what can we do, we need to celebrate her birthday and our anniversary worthy.” Matt kissed my cheek smiling.
“That’s why we are heading back to the cabin, like every year, since we met us.” I smiled at Matt and I saw the love in his eyes as well.

“I hear the jealousy speaking right out of you, Gates…” Matt got up and I followed greeting Brian, Leyla and Johnny who just arrived and borrowed chair’s from the table next to ours and sat down.
“So you could make it, huh?” Matt asked and Leyla nodded.
“Wouldn’t miss the yearly dinner before the birthday with our best friends, would we?” Leyla smiled at me and I hugged her.
“Thanks, sweetie.”
“You starting without us?” Zack’s voice sounded from the entrance and finally the rest of the gang arrived, with Mei and Arin following behind Zack.
We all found some places around the table and ordered drinks, this was exactly what was our ritual, meeting up at the bar, having some quality time during all the busy schedules and family times.
“So what were you two discussing before we arrived” Mei asked and Leyla, Brian and Johnny were making kissing noises while I rolled my eyes at the childish act.
“Ohh.. so stuff I don’t wanna hear… at least not from you” Mei finished with a grin and the other began to laugh.
“I just reminded my wife about our first meeting and who was the one to say the magical three words first.” Matt explained.
“Yeah, who was it, Kim?” Leyla asked looking excited.
“As if you didn’t know? We tell this story every year… I think it’s about time that you guys tell us what happened during the time that Matt and I got lost in the snow?” I asked, every time we asked this questions, some of the guys or girls were trying to avoid the topic.
