Not Good Enough For Truth And Cliche

Hurtful Words From My Enemies.

“You will never amount to anything, Leana.”

“You’re just a genetic screw up that no one wants.”

“I hope you leave and never come back!”

So that’s exactly what I did. At only 17, I left for Huntington Beach, California, far away from my hurtful family in New York, bringing only necessities. I left in the dead of night, not wanting to alert anyone of my ‘escape’, even though I knew they probably would help me leave. I don’t know why they hated me so much; I’m their own flesh and blood, and I had never done anything to make them feel so negatively towards me. Why Cali? I met a guy online who seemed really nice, and had become my best friend, well, only friend. His name was Jimmy, and he was the sun, moon, and stars to me. When I told him about my family problems, the first thing he did after cussing out everyone who was related to me was send me one plane ticket to Huntington.

So here I am now, getting off the plane and heading towards the baggage claim. I looked for Jimmy, knowing exactly what he looked like from all of the times we Skyped. As I looked, a pair of long, tattooed arms wrapped around me tightly, cutting off my air supply. I looked up into Jimmy’s baby blue eyes and started smiling, but the smile on his face was bigger. “It’s so awesome to actually see you, like, in person! You’re really hot, did you know that? I brought my friends, is that okay…” he rambled on and on.

“Jimmy! It’s fine. Let’s go get my bags and then we can go see your friends!” I cut him off, rolling my eyes when he looked down at me with a goofy grin. He nodded wildly and ran to the conveyor belt, almost knocking over an old lady. As we waited for my one bag to come, we made small talk, just so it wouldn’t be silent. At last, my black and red suitcase appeared and I lunged for it, wanting to get away from the throngs of people.

“Got your bag? Good. Now let’s go meet my friends!” he said, bouncing on the balls of his feet in excitement. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the parking lot, to a black Tahoe that was surrounded by tough looking guys. But I was a tough girl, and they didn’t scare me that much.

“So this is the online mystery girl? Hey, I’m Matt.” The tallest and buffest of the group said, sticking out his large hand for me to shake.

“Hi, I’m Leana. Nice to meet you.” I said politely, shaking his hand. He looked really familiar; in fact, all of them looked really familiar…

“OH MY GOD! YOU GUYS ARE AVENGED SEVENFOLD!” I shrieked. The instant the words left my mouth, I clapped my hands over my mouth. They all smirked at me, and looked at Jimmy. I mean, I’ve dealt with stardom before; my best friend, other than Jimmy, is Ronnie Radke from Escape The Fate. And speak of the Devil, my cell phone rang, the ring tone I had set just for Ronnie. I grabbed the phone as fast as I could, anything to put the embarrassment on hold.

Hey Lea… having fun?

Yep… I miss you already!

Alright! I miss you too, sweetheart. Just remember to call me often. Have a great time.

Okay Ronnie… Love you.

Love you too. Bye!

I ended the call and walked back over to the guys. “Was that your boyfriend?” Jimmy asked. A look of sadness and pain flitted across his face, but his smile returned when I shook my head no.

“That was my best friend. Being in the music scene, you might know him… Ronnie Radke?” I said, smirking. They looked at me with wide eyes.

“Ronnie Radke is your best friend? He’s a jerk.” Zacky said. I shrugged. I got that a lot, because it was true, but he wasn't a jerk to me; only to people he didn’t like or when he was tired and grumpy.

“Not always. You should give him a try sometime. He’s been my friend since I was 4. I love him like a brother.” I reasoned. I hate it when people talk bad about Ronnie, even when they were right. I loved him too much.

“Ok, I’m his friend; I was just saying” Zacky surrendered. I snickered.

Finally, Jimmy spoke up “Okay, enough chit-chat. Leana, its time to get home so you can meet the girls!”
