So far away

I turned on the water and peeled the bloody clothes off of me for the second time this week. It was getting old. The screaming, chasing, the sight of blood. It was a rush at first and now its just boring. I sighed sliding down into the water. It instantly turned red. My phone dinged beside me. I reached for my jeans and pulled my phone out. Facebook. Really?

Ivy Jo Anna. She had bright purple hair and her skin was covered in tattoos. She lived about 2 hours away from here. I accepted her friend request and put my phone back in my pocket. Eventually the water turned cold and I let it go down the drain and dried off. I pulled a t-shirt on and some shorts. I walked downstairs to find Brian on my couch with a smirk on his face. "You okay there? From the looks of it, you got a little queasy." I would love to get out of all of this. But Brian would be damned.

"I don't want to do it anymore and you know that. Theres no fun in anymore, Bri." I mumbled sitting across from him on the sofa. He shook his head and leaned back stretching. "We're getting too old for this shit. Someone's gonna get hurt again." I raised my voice a little.

"What happened was an accident. It wont happen again. You know that I do everything in my power to protect all of us." He mumbled. The whole situation frustrated him. I didn't see it as an accident. Someone didn't do their job and Jimmy paid for it.

"He would want us to stop Brian." I muttered rubbing my temples.

"No he wouldn't. He would want us to continue to make them pay." Brian was getting pissed. I could see it written all over him. He was the ring leader and god forbid someone try to suggest something different. "Maybe we can find a new play mate for Matty poo." He smirked.

"I don't need a new one. I don't need one period." I growled.

"Hey boys." Val smiled interrupting us. Everyone else came in the room joining the conversation.

Everyone thought Val and I were married, that's not true. Val is my partner in crime. She helps me track them and lead them somewhere secluded. By them, I mean anyone Brian sends us to get. For no reason at all. Innocent lives. But now that she's pregnant, the chase will only get harder for her. Most people celebrate when the get a new member in the family. Brian was livid. He threw a chair at her.

"Hey." Brian and I said in unison. She sat next to me on the sofa and crossed her legs. I could see the old blood under her fingernails. If Brian saw that, He'd have a fit.

"So Matt, whats it gonna be? Matt wants out." Brian mumbled telling the guys.

"I'm just done Brian. I don't want a new partner." I said looking at the carpet.

"We cant lose you Matt. Either find a new partner or don't but you aren't leaving us." Brian growled.

"Give me a week or two." I sighed. I didn't want to suffer the wrath of Brian. It's bad just to avoid it altogether. Everyone left including Val. I scrolled my phone thinking of a solution. Then a message popped up. It was Ivy. 'Hey :)'

'Hey' I typed back. I'm not really one to talk to other people. It makes me feel strange. Ivy and I chatted back and forth all night and until 2 in the morning when I finally fell asleep. I learned that she was short tempered and her mother died from cancer when she was young. She was single and kid free and for now she lives with her cousin until she finds somewhere else to go. She wanted to come out to California and be in cosmetology.

That was when it hit me. Ivy was perfect for what I needed. She had anger issues and she wasn't squeamish. Now I just had to talk her into it which I'm sure wouldn't be hard. But Facebook was not the place to talk about it so I invited her over next week. I smiled to myself. This was perfect.
