My Little Piece of Heaven

“Baby wake up!” Brian said quietly. Hope rolled over with her eyes still closed, “I’m sleeping babe.” He kissed her forehead, “Our appointment is today so you need to get up.” “But that’s next week babe,” She said groaning. “No I got the dates wrong. The appointment is in a couple hours,” Brian said gently shaking her. Hope sat up and looked at him, “You are lucky I don’t have morning sickness in the mornings.” He chuckled, “Good morning to you too.”

She giggles then kisses him, “I’m going to go shower so I can wake up.” Brian wrapped his arms around her, “I think I have a way to wake you up.” “We can do that later since we don’t have time,” She kissed him and went to the bathroom. “Baby I’m going to head down stairs and make something to eat,” Brian yelled leaving the room. “So, are you excited for today?” Jimmy asked Brian when he walked into the kitchen. “Honestly I am but I am also terrified. We are probably going to hear the heartbeat today,” Brian said grabbing some eggs. “That will be an emotional moment,” Matt said walking in.

“Mhm what is that smell?” Hope said walking in behind Matt. Brian chuckled, “I made some scrambled eggs.” “Whoa Hope! You are starting to get a baby belly,” Zacky said rubbing her belly. “Zack if you don’t stop touching my belly, I’ll stab you with a fork,” Hope said smiling. Zacky threw his hands up and moved away, “Someone is a little violent today.” “More like someone is a little hormonal. Good morning sweetie,” Jimmy said kissing her head. “Good morning dad. I just want to go back to sleep,” She said yawning.

“Well eat up and we can head to the doctors,” Brian said kissing her. “We are going to have to go shopping because I only fit in my yoga pants now,” Hope said eating all her food. “Damn girl you can put away food like it’s no problem,” Matt said sitting beside her. “Well I am eating for 2 now,” She said getting up. “Damn baby I did just notice you are getting a belly,” Brian said staring at her smiling. “Well that is what happens when you are pregnant,” Hope said laughing and hugging him. “Well lets head to the doctors and see what they say,” Brian said heading towards the door.

“We will be back in an hour or so,” Hope said heading out the door with Brian. “Baby are you nervous for the appointment?” Brian said getting in the car. “Yeah, it’s our first real appointment,” She said smiling. “Well we know that the baby will be healthy since you have been eating healthy and taking care of yourself,” Brian said. “I know but we will probably hear the heartbeat and it just makes it even more real,” She said putting her hand on her belly. “You are going to be beautiful baby. We are going to be great parents and have our own house soon,” Brian said parking the car. “Let’s do this then,” Hope said getting out of the car.

Brian and Hope both walked into the doctor’s office and signed in. “The doctor will be with you here soon,” The lady at the desk said. “This is just nerve wrecking. I hate waiting,” Hope said bouncing her leg. “Baby just calm down. Everything will be alright,” Brian said holding her hand. “Ms. Hope Waldon,” The nurse called. “Well it’s now or never,” Brian said getting up. “That’s me,” She said walking up to the nurse. “My name is Maggie and I am Doctor Smiths nurse. We are going to be doing an ultrasound today to see how the baby is doing. Also, we are going to have to do blood work,” Maggie said taking Hope’s blood pressure.

“That doesn’t seem that bad,” Brian said smiling. “Well her blood pressure is a little elevated but you are probably nervous. We are going to draw some blood first then taking you to the ultrasound room,” Maggie said getting out a needle. “I hate having my blood drawn,” Hope said closing her eyes. “It won’t take that long,” Maggie said sticking her with a needle. “Just breathe baby,” Brian said holding her hand. “Okay we are done with that. Now you can follow me to the ultrasound room,” Maggie said. “I can’t wait to hear the heartbeat,” Hope said smiling.

“Well you are going to be able to see the baby as well,” Maggie said gesturing for them to go in. “This is a great first doctor appointment,” Brian said standing behind Hopes head. “So, this is going to be a little cold,” Maggie said putting gel on Hopes stomach. “Oh my god! It’s our baby!” Hope said crying a little. “Yes it is angel,” Brian said kissing her head. “Now here’s the heartbeat,” Maggie said. “Oh my! It sounds like a little train. That’s our baby!” Hope said crying happily. Brian kissed her head and held back the happy tears.
