Change My Ways

I Know That I Can Survive, I'll Walk Through Fire To Save My Life

Elody’s POV

The next day, I awake in the hospital, again. Yesterday was emotionally and physically draining for me. I’m glad that the guys know the truth about what happened, telling them was one of the hardest things I’ve done. They came back to see me, after I rested a little, last night. We talked about their band, and I was so fascinated. I knew they had to be in some sort of band, but I never pictured how well known they’d be. I had never really heard of them, or their music, until yesterday. Matt brought in some of their CD’s for me to listen to. I ended up falling asleep to Dear God, long after they’d left.

I’m supposed to be getting released from the hospital today, and I cannot wait. I bet Juliet is worried sick about me, I’ve barely been home the past couple of days. I wish I wouldn’t have gone back to work yesterday, then I wouldn’t even be here right now. I guess I’m officially without a job, now. After Liam was taken into custody he, surprisingly enough, confessed to everything he did to me. He didn’t mention a word of our affair, and I’m glad, I didn’t really want his wife to find out. At least, not this way.

“Good morning, Elody. Are you ready to go home today?” The nurse asks, as she comes into my room.

“More than ever.” I say, smiling.

“Alright. Well, let me retrieve all of your paper work, and your release papers, and we can get you on the road. Do you have anyone that can pick you up?”

“Umm…” I ponder on it for a second, before remembering that Brian gave me his number, before he left last night. He said he wanted me to have it, and I could call him if I ever needed anything. “Yeah. I do.” I smile at her, again, and she nods her head, leaving the room. I grab the phone, beside the bed, and punch in Brian’s number. It rings for quite a while, but he finally answers.

“Hello?” He sounds groggy. I must’ve woken him up.

“Hey… It’s Elody. I’m so sorry for waking you up… I just…” Before I can finish my sentence, he’s speaking.

“No, it’s fine! Good morning.” He sounds more awake, now. “Don’t worry about it, I needed to get up anyway, I’m sure there’s something to do this morning.”

“I hate to ask you this, but I really don’t have any other choice…”

“What’s that? You can ask me anything.”

“I need a ride from the hospital. At least, back to my car, I’m sure I can drive myself the rest of the way home.”

“Of course, I can pick you up, but I don’t think you should be driving just yet. I’ll bring Zacky with me, and he can drive your car back for you.”

“Are you sure? I would hate for you to wake him for that. I am sure I’ll be fine to drive.”

“You’ve been on pain medication; I don’t think it’s recommended.” He laughs, and I can’t help but smile. “Give me about 15 minutes, and we’ll be there.”

“Thank you so much!”

“It’s not a problem, Elody. I’ll see you soon.” He hangs up.

--

Almost fifteen minutes later, Zacky and Brian are walking through room door.

“Wow, that was perfect timing.” I laugh.

“I’m a man of my word, what can I say?” Brian smiles.

“How are you feeling today?” Zacky asks.

“I’m feeling better than yesterday, not that it’s saying much. My head is still sore, after the stitches, but I’m sure it’s nothing pain medicine can’t help.” I laugh.

“I’m glad you’re feeling better. Did you tell Juliet anything about what happened?”

“I’ll have to, I guess… I just don’t want her to get involved, you know? It’s bad enough I dragged you guys into this.”

“I understand.”

Soon enough, the nurse comes in to release me. After signing papers, and getting unhooked from all of the machines, she tells me I’m free to get dressed, and go home. She gives me some pain medication to take, if the pain becomes too much, but she tells me it should pass within the next week, hopefully, and then I can get my stitches taken out. The guys leave the room, as I dress myself. I look in the mirror, in the bathroom. I look like shit. I’m wearing the same clothes I had on yesterday, and I haven’t showered. I feel so gross. I hate having Zacky and Brian see me like this.

Once dressed, I meet the guys outside of my room, and we head down to the car. They both stay close, in case I need any help along the way. I’m glad I met these guys, they’re life savers. I don’t know what I’d do without them. As we get to the car, they help me into the passenger side. Zacky takes a seat in the back, and Brian drives us to the office to get my car.

“Seeing this place makes me want to get sick.” Zacky says, as we pull up in the office parking lot. All I can do is stare up at that dreaded building. It holds way too many memories, now, and the bad ones overpower the good ones.
“Hey.” Brian says, leaning over toward me, slightly, and resting a hand on my leg. “Are you alright?”

“I’m sorry.” I break my gaze, and look over at him. “I just hate seeing this place, now.” I hand Zacky the keys to my car, and he gets out. I realize Brian’s hand is still on my leg, and I look down at it. He notices, and pulls it away.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t realize…” He starts to say, but I cut him off.

“No, it’s fine.” I say. “Please don’t feel sorry. It’s nice to have someone that cares.” I smile at him, as he drives away. I give him directions to my house, and soon enough, we’re there. “Thank you so much, Brian. You’ve been a real life saver.” We get out of the car, as Zacky pulls up behind us. I hug the both of them. “Thank you both, for everything.I really don’t know how I’ll ever repay you.”

“Don’t worry about it, we’re happy to help.” Zacky smiles at me.

“I would invite you guys in, but I think I need a bath, and some rest, first.”

“It’s okay. We understand. Call me if you need anything, okay? Anything. I’m just a phone call away.” Brian says, as they get into the car. They drive away, and I make my way up to the house.

No!! I don't want this story to be over!! I'll miss reading it:(
The last chapter was good. But deep inside I had thought Melody would choose Brian.
Anyways, great ending!

What just happened? I thought Elody liked Zack, or maybe Brian. I'm still confused about that part.
What is this Jackson guy doing??
Twists, huh?
Bring it on then!
