Two Vibrant Hearts

Chapter Fifty-Three

“I’ll get it!” I called to Brian as I walked towards his front door. Someone had knocked, so I assumed it was someone asking me if I had found Jesus or something. At least I’d be able to say yes and then shut the door, because I didn’t want to have a church service outside of my ‘boyfriend’s’ house. I waited for a reply, but I only heard the running of the shower. I opened my door and my mouth dropped. “Matt?”

“That’s my name, isn’t it?” Matt chuckled. I looked him up and down in shock. For one, he actually knocked. That must mean something serious. For two, he was dressed up. He had on a black button-up shirt and semi-dress pants with converse on. He had on his hat and bandana, though, so obviously it wasn’t someone super serious.

“Why do you look so snazzy?” I asked, reaching up to play with the collar of his shirt. He smiled and gave me a look that I couldn’t quite put a name to.

“I came to talk to Brian,” Matt began, his eyes wandering inside the house as he did so. Something caught his attention, and a second later a hand went protectively around my waist. I looked to see Brian standing behind me, wet and naked. Well, almost naked. He had a towel, but it was hanging low on his hips. Hot damn.

“Came to talk to me about what?” Brian questioned, a smirk running across his face. I could tell that Matt felt awkward, and I had a good idea as to why. Why else would Brian walk around nearly naked with his ‘girlfriend’ there other than to bluntly tell me he wanted shit to go down? There was also the possibility that I moved in and we thought there was a future for us, but that was obviously a lie.

“Well, actually, I came for both of you.” Matt rephrased. I heard a sigh come from behind him and Gayle showed up a second later, actually looking decent. She had her hair curled, her makeup wasn’t a mess, and she was wearing a nice black summer dress that didn’t have her boobs or her crotch hanging out of it.

“We wanted to know if you guys wanted to go on a double date with us,” Gayle said bluntly. I tried to look for any sort of clue that this was a trick in her voice and face, but she looked completely innocent.

Why?” I asked, sounding slightly disgusted. I didn’t mean to; it was supposed to be more of a ‘what the fuck is going on’ tone. Matt looked a little hurt, but Gayle just smiled more. A sincere smile.

“I know all of this shit is really hard for you two, and we want to make amends. Matt for putting you in a confusing position, and me for being a prick to both of you.” Gayle explained. She looked up at Brian, who was extremely tense. “Especially to you, Brian. Old habits die hard, you know?”

“Well that’s a nice thought, but-“

“We’d love to,” I interjected, which earned me two looks of surprise and one big smile. Gayle seemed happy, but both Matt and Brian looked shocked. I knew for a fact that Brian didn’t want to go, and I guess Matt didn’t either. He must have wanted to talk to Brian so they could both get out of Gayle’s idea.

“We would?” Brian questioned, his voice tinted with anger. I nodded and shot him a look, which shut him up. I looked back to the couple in front of me and smiled.

“We’ll go. When and where?” I agreed. Matt looked angry, but not at me. He probably didn’t want to be around Brian and I because of our ‘relationship’. I found it quite funny, actually.

“How about Minerva’s at 8?” Gayle suggested. I nodded.

“Sounds wonderful. I hope this isn’t a trap, and I’m not saying it is, but I really hope it isn’t because I will go apeshit if stuff goes down tonight,” I said sweetly, although there was a tint of hostility in my voice. Matt looked a little scared, but Gayle was not fazed.

“I promise you it’s not. I just would hate to be the reason that good friends were no longer friends, and I want to make it up to you.” Gayle replied, her voice just as sweet. I smiled.

“Wonderful. We’ll see you tonight.” I said. I waved goodbye before shutting the door and smirking. “She thought I believed her.”

“What the fuck was that?!” Brian yelled, finally able to speak his opinions. I shrugged and walked up to Brian’s room, with Brian following right behind me. “Oh no, you cannot just shrug at this. Why did you set up a double date! I hate her!”

“And you think I don’t?” I asked, finally turning around to look at Brian. He stared at me blankly and I let out an exasperated groan. “She ruined my chance to be with Matt and then had the audacityto talk him into dating her! I want to stab her right now!”

“Then why would you-“

“Because Gayle just handed us another chance to make Matt jealous on a silver effing platter.” I sighed, looking up at Brian. He continued to look at me and I ran a hand through my hair. “He wanted to talk to you so he could get out of this. He does not want to be around us, especially with just Gayle. This forces him to talk to me and you, and that can be a big help on our mission to get Matt back.” Brian remained silent and I stepped in front of him. I grabbed his hands in mine and rubbed the top of his hands with my thumb. I looked up to him and gave him a sad look. “Please do this for me, Bri. I hate her so much and I don’t even care if I get Matt anymore, I just want her gone.” He stared into my eyes, his eyes moving around my face as though he were looking for something. I gave him a pleading look and he groaned.

“Fine, I’ll do it.” Brian grumbled. I smiled and he gave me a serious look. “You owe me big time though.”

“Well why don’t I pay up now?” I said seductively, running my finger down his bare stomach. He smirked and I led him to the bed, pushing him down with my hand. I straddled him and he hungrily pulled me into a kiss. I ran my hands through his wet hair and Brian shoved his tongue into my mouth, swirling our tongues together. He let out a low moan when I slid my hands down his chest, letting my nails graze across his skin. His hands reached for my tank top and tried to pull it off, but I pulled away. “Not now, doll.” With that, I slid myself off him, purposely letting my hand run over his visible erection. He groaned and sat up, giving me a look I could only describe as desperation. I laughed and went towards the bathroom. I turned to look at him, sending him a wink. “Maybe if you behave at the date tonight.”

“I will be the best behaved guy there.” Brian mumbled. I laughed and opened up my make-up bag while turning on my straightener. I saw movement from the bedroom, so I turned to see what Brian was doing. My mouth dropped and I let out a scream.

“Brian! Holy fuck!” I yelled, staring wide-eyed at the now completely naked guy in the room next to me. All he did was smirk and wink before turning his attention back to pulling out clothes.

“Is there a problem?” Brian asked casually, totally acting as though I didn’t just see his fucking erection just hanging out completely uncovered.

“I… You… My God, Brian, you are fucking hung!” I yelled bluntly. Brian burst out into laughter, holding onto his stomach as he curled in on himself.

“Oh… God… Can’t… Breathe…!” Brian choked, grabbing onto the dresser for support. I continued to stare in complete astonishment as I watched Brian slowly calm himself down from his panic attack. He glanced up at me, but he couldn’t meet my gaze without roaring into another fit of laughter. Finally, he slid his boxers on and looked over to me, grinning widely when he saw that I was still frozen. “Have you never seen the male genitalia before, Kid?”

“Of course I have. But not…” I whispered, unable to put my thoughts into words. I’m sure if I were to describe how I felt about seeing Brian’s dick, it’d turn out to look like when someone has a freak-out on their keyboard.

“You’re missing out, Hun.” Brian winked as he threw on his shirt.

“Hell yeah I’m fucking missing out!” I shouted, finally unfreezing. Brian laughed loudly before sliding his pants on and coming over to me.

“You could always change that,” Brian muttered seductively, his hand going to the back of my head. I finally was able to move and I began putting my makeup on, mumbling to myself.

“Matt better be just as impressive or I’ll never be able to look at him the same,” I mumbled, focusing on my eye shadow. Brian laughed from behind me as he buttoned his shirt, leaving the top two unbuttoned. He went to the mirror next to me and began spiking his hair while I started on straightening mine.

“I heard that.” Brian mused. I smiled and rolled my eyes before going back to my hair. We both finished at the same time, and I went over to Brian’s closet. I had brought a few clothes over here since I liked Brian’s company and Emma was always with Johnny, so I pulled out a simple yet elegant black dress. I grabbed out the black heels I brought and slipped them on my feet before turning back to Brian, who was staring at me.

“Do I look presentable?” I asked, turning around in a circle. Brian looked me up and down before giving me a sincere smile.

“You look beautiful.” Brian said, his eyes bright. I blushed and he walked over to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me gently, and even though it wasn’t heated in any way, it was intoxicating.

“Thank you. You look quite dashing yourself.” I replied, wrapping my arms around his neck. We kissed again and I kicked my leg up, which made Brian snicker. He slid his hands on my butt and I giggled, which caused him to wink.

“And I gotta say, I’m loving the length of this dress.” Brian added, slipping his hand under the bottom of my dress as he said so. I smiled widely and rolled my eyes, turning my attention to the time.

“It’s 7:30. We better get going.” I informed him. Brian sighed and his hands left my body. I straightened my dress before grabbing Brian’s hand and walking down the stairs. We went to his car and hopped in, both of us staying silent. Brian drove to Minerva’s with his hand in mine, which made both of us more relaxed. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but if we could all just be civilized tonight, I’d just refer to this as a normal outing with my friends. As we drove up, Matt was waiting outside, but Gayle was not with him.

“Hey guys,” Matt greeted, a soft smile on his face. Brian and I waved back and his smile grew. “You both look nice.”

“As do you,” I commented, sending him a nice smile. I could tell there was a soft color of red showing up on Matt’s cheek, and I couldn’t help but let out a small giggle. I never expected to see Matt Sanders blush. Ever.

“Where’s Gayle?” Brian asked. Matt looked at him in shock before sending me a look. I shrugged and his gaze returned to Brian.

“She’s inside. She already has the table, and she told me to wait for you two.” Matt answered. Brian nodded a little and took my hand. Matt’s shoulders tensed up a little, and I knew it was because he didn’t like that we were holding hands. “Well, shall we go?” Brian and I nodded again and Matt turned his back to us and began walking towards the entrance. Brian’s hand slithered around my waist and I leaned against him, feeling uneasy. I don’t really know why I said yes, because if anything Gayle is just going to make me more jealous of Matt than the other way around. Brian noticed my tension and squeezed my side reassuringly, and I sent him a smile. We followed Matt into the restaurant and to the back room, where Gayle was waiting.

“Hey guys,” Gayle greeted happily. I waved to her, but Brian merely nodded as he pulled my seat out for me. “You both look wonderful.”

“The same goes for you two.” I replied, smiling at her and Matt. Both of them smiled and I opened the menu, secretly grabbing Brian’s hand from under the table. I saw him smile from beside me and I grinned widely. “So Gayle, have you already ordered?”

“No. But I got us a bottle of wine to share.” Gayle pointed to a bottle next to me and I couldn’t help but send her a nice look.

“How nice of you.” Brian spoke up, lifting his head so I could actually see his face. I squeezed his hand and he returned it, a bigger smile crossing his lips. “So what made you call for a nice dinner with us?”

“Oh nothing. I just thought maybe the two Avenged couples could just hang out and chat for a while,” Gayle smiled sweetly and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes a little. Here we go.

“But Johnny is with Emma,” Brian pointed out. Gayle’s smile faltered slightly and I smirked.

“Yeah, and I think Zach might be starting something with my friend Jordyn.” I continued. She let out a breath, and I could tell she was trying not to get angry.

“I asked Emma. She refused.” Gayle said through her teeth. “I guess she thought you would say no as well.”

“Well, I thought I would too, but I’ve been around Jimmy too much and so I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt.” I replied, keeping a smile on my face. I could tell Gayle was a little flustered, so she grabbed the wine bottle and handed it to Matt.

“Matty, could you please open this for me?” Gayle asked, her voice going an octave higher while still having a tint of seduction. My God, it was like she was talking to a four year old she was trying to bang.

“Uh, sure.” Matt mumbled as he began popping off the cap off the bottle. I couldn’t help but watch as Matt’s muscles flexed, which were visible through his shirt. Gayle obviously noticed as well, because her hands wrapped around his arm and she gave him googley eyes.

“And here’s where the train wreck starts,” Brian muttered to me, his voice low enough so only I could here. I nodded and looked back at Matt, who was staring between Brian and I. He finished taking off the cap and handed it to Brian, who quickly poured both of us a drink before handing it back. Brian nearly downed his cup before Matt was able to pour Gayle’s drink. I snickered at Gayle’s shocked face, and Matt just smirked as he finished off Gayle’s glass and handing it back to Brian. I drank mine quickly as well, but not as conspicuous as Brian. He tipped mine off and set the bottle next to him, obviously knowing he’d need it soon.

“Damn, Bri, you really like your grape juice.” Gayle snickered. Brian just nodded and pointed to her as he took another sip. It was silent at the table for a few minutes as all of us tried to think of conversation.

“So, uh, you guys did really well at your concert a week ago.” I started, sending a smile to Matt and Brian. They both returned the smile and I could see that Gayle looked slightly angry that I started up a decent topic before her. And I thought I had a temper.

“Thanks, Kid.” Matt said gratefully. He gave Brian a fist bump before slightly leaning back in his chair. “It was nice to get on stage again.”

“It was really. I liked seeing all of the girls freak out,” Brian added. Matt chuckled and sat up.

“Especially when everyone found out that Short Shit could get someone like Emma,” Matt mused. Brian laughed and took another drink.

“Man, I was so jealous when Emma got to go up there,” Gayle interjected suddenly. Brian sent her an irritated look but said nothing. Gayle giggled childishly and I could actually feel a headache coming on. “Everyone was freaking out about it. Imagine how much everyone would have freaked out if I was pulled on stage!” Irritation flared inside of me and I could tell that Brian was just as pissed. Matt just looked awkwardly at us while Gayle draped herself all over him. Just then the waiter came with our bread, and as he was leaving, Brian grabbed his tie and pulled him down next to Brian’s mouth.

“We’re going to need another bottle of wine. Now.” Brian commanded. The waiter nodded fearfully before scurrying off, watching as Brian poured the rest of the wine we had in our bottle into his glass and chugging it.

Notes

I'm warning you all now, Emma and I are getting back into updating our story And In You I Confide more often, in which I spend most of my time writing chapters for that. Now with that and my new obsession of Supernatural (OH MY GOD THE FEELS), along with my writers block, updates on this story will be more spread out. I'm not saying it'll be like 2 weeks long, but it'll take me a few more days between updates. I have myself a policy where I want to have three chapters pre-written, and I'm actually breaking my policy by updating this. But I promise I'll make sure I don't take more than four days to update this story! ~Jessi
