Erin was surprised her father even let Payton stay over, but she guessed it had something to do with her recent behavior; perhaps he thought that the reason for her throwing the party in the first place was just her acting out for being forced to stay in California in the first place. Either way, she was just glad her best friend would be spending the majority of the weekend with her.

After dropping them off at the mall the previous day, Zack absolutely refused to chaperone them anywhere. The girls were stuck at home for the afternoon, which didn’t really matter in the long run, since there was so much to do there already; he had it all – swimming pool, movies, video games, instruments… Everything.

“Where is Daenerys, anyway?” Payton asks, her eyes not detaching from Daniel Radcliff on the giant flat-screen TV in front of them. “I haven’t seen her all weekend.” Erin just shrugs.

“I think Zack took her to a rehab center, or something,” she replies simply. “So she won’t be bothering us.”

“Well, shit,” Payton mutters. “That totally ruins my plan…”

“What was your plan?” Erin asks, pausing the movie, much to Payton’s protest.

“If you must know,” she says, turning her attention towards her best friend. “All we have to do is take Will away from her.”

“How are we supposed to do that?”

“Kiss him,” she replies, shrugging. “Could you just press play?”

“I can’t kiss Will,” Erin tells her, not doing what she asked. Payton just rolls her eyes.

“I never said you would,” she replies as if it’s the most obvious thing. “But we can’t do it if she’s not here.” Erin contemplates this for a moment.

“I think I know someone who might be able to help with that…”

“Orange County Rehabilitation Center?” Brian exclaims. Erin blinks up at him, not having expected such an outraged response from him. After digging though a few dozen papers in Zack’s office, the girls were able to find out just where Zack had sent Daenerys. As soon as they did, they brought their newfound information to Brian, in hopes he would do something about it.

Now the 31-year-old sits across his dining room table, a look of anger and confusion painted across his face.

“Why would Zack send her there, of all places?” he asks no on one particular.

“What’s wrong with it?” Erin asks, frowning slightly.

“That place is run by lunatics,” he explains. “I was only supposed to be there for six months but they tried to keep me longer…”

“When were you there?” He doesn’t answer.

“Someone has to go get her,” he concludes.

“Can you?” Payton asks him and he shrugs.

“I should be able to,” he tells her. “Unless Zack didn’t list me as an emergency contact like he always does…” He trails off. “I should go now; it’s a long drive.” He starts to get up before looking back down at the girls. “Er… Don’t mention this to Zack. I’ll talk to him when I get back.”

With that, he makes a rushed exit, leaving the two girls alone in the oversized house.

“Well, that was easier than I expected,” Payton comments.

“Now what?” Erin asks her. A sly smile crosses her best friend’s face; she would be lying if she said it didn’t scare her just a little.

“Now we just have to convince Will to come over.”
