*Carry On*

***Brian’s POV***

“Come on, Kay, you can do this. I’m right here,” I keep saying to Kaylyn over her screams. I feel useless and I hate hearing her in pain. I just keep praying for the contraction to end, not at all prepared for this kind of experience. Ashley never told me any of this and I think I am slowly losing my mind. I just want to see Kay smile and to meet my daughter.

“One more push, darlin’! Here it comes!” the nurse says as Kay screams the loudest that I’ve ever heard. The next thing I know I hear the high pitch squeal of a new born and I see the nurse moving her onto Kaylyn’s stomach. “Congratulations, it’s a little girl,” the nurse beams and I can honestly say those are two of the most perfect creatures in front of me.

“Maddy…” I breathed, not hearing a word Kaylyn is saying to me. As the words leave my mouth she stops crying and those beautiful brown eyes instantly lock with mine. I take in a shaky breath as a smile falls over my face, knowing that this little girl recognizes me from the sound of my voice. I just can’t get over this overwhelming feeling flooding my chest and I know that I’m going to have a hard time letting her out of my sight—I love this little girl with all my being.

“Brian…? Is she okay? Brian?” I just nod, still in complete shock over my feelings for this little person.

“Are you the father?” The doctor asks and I don’t even notice him eyeing my stage attire and make-up. “Sir?”

I shake my head when I feel a punch in the arm and rip my eyes away from Maddy to look at the doctor. “Erm…yes…sorry…” I say, finally finding my voice again. The doctor looks over to Kay to make sure I’m telling the truth as I squeeze her hand that magically appears in mine.

“Yes, he’s the father.” The exhaustion is evident in Kay’s voice but she looks so happy. “Isn’t she beautiful, Bri?”

“Yeah…she’s perfect,” I breath, not able to take the smile off my face.

“Would you like to cut the umbilical cord?” I nod and move over to follow the doctor’s directions. “It looks like you have a very healthy and beautiful little girl,” he says and hands her off to the nurse.

“Where are you taking her!” I try and push around the doctor to follow the nurse but he just laughs and puts his hand on my shoulder.

“Don’t worry, she’s just going to get cleaned up. Your daughter will be back in a few minutes.” Daughter—I could get used to hearing that word. I can’t believe I have a daughter… “Do you have a name for her?”

I look over at Kaylyn and we both smile and nod. “Yeah…her name is Madelyn Marie Haner,” I say, moving back over to hold Kay’s hand. My eyes focus on the nurse as she cleans and takes all Maddy’s necessary medical measurements. I am in awe of this little girl already.

“Bri,” Kay calls and I look down at her to see a frown on her beautiful face. “Are you okay? Is something wrong?” Worry is etched in her features and I kneel down take her face in my hands. With a soft kiss on her lips I look down at her and ran my fingers over her cheeks. I cant get over how much Maddy looks like her.

I take a deep breath. “I’m just…” I can’t even think of a word to describe the emotion that I’m feeling. “She’s just perfect.” I try to explain. “She…she knew me when she heard my voice. I can’t believe it. She…more than I ever thought she would be…and we don’t even really know her yet.”

“I know what you mean. I can’t even describe how much I love her and what’s even better is…we made that,” she breathes with tears in her eyes and I lean down and place a soft kiss on her lip. We made that.

A few moment’s later, the nurse brings Madelyn back over to us and I let Kaylyn hold her first. I smile as tears flood her eyes as she looks down at our daughter. “Hello Madelyn…I’m your mommy,” she cries, gently touching her face. “We’ve been waiting to meet you and we are so glad you are here.” Kay takes a shaky breath and whips away her hears. “You are so beautiful…”

I carefully lean down and put my chin on Kay’s shoulder, looking into our daughter’s brown eyes. “She looks just like you…your eyes…your nose…your smile…” I whisper but Kaylyn shakes her head. “You’re just as beautiful as your mommy,” I tell her, earning a toothless smile from the baby.

“Maddy this is your daddy and you have his eyes,” she giggles, kissing my cheek. I carefully reach out my fingers to touch Maddy’s hand and she grabs on tight. “She loves you already. Here, you take her for a minute.” Kay tells me and I don’t need to be told twice.

As soon as that little pink bundle is in my arms, I know that I never want to put her down. “Hey there my little rock star,” I tell her, hearing Kaylyn laugh behind me. “You surprised us today…showing up at Daddy’s concert. Mommy always told me that you liked our music,” I chuckle, rocking her lightly. “The rest of your family is going to be so excited to meet you. We stopped the whole show for you.”

“Shit…” Kay hisses and I look at her with a raised brow as she covers her mouth. I guess we will have to work on our language around her. “We forgot about the guys and Tempe. Do you want to take her out for a visit? There is no way they are going to let the guys back into a room with their stage attire on. Just look at what happened with you,” she giggles, her eyes drooping slightly. Kay has to be exhausted.

“Yeah, I’ll take her out,” I agree and go clear it with the nurse before heading to the waiting room. “Come on, let’s go meet your uncles and your aunts. Don’t worry, they look scary but they are good people,” I tell her, walking slowly down the hall as she looks up at me. “Just watch out for Uncle Jimmy…he’s a little bit crazy but he loves you already. He’ll be loud and want to hold you and you’ll just have to bear with him, okay?” To my surprise Madelyn giggles. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

I carefully turn around and push my back through the double doors to the waiting room only to be met with applause and cheers. “Shh…keep it down!” I say, motioning to the little bundle in my arms.

Tempest lets out a squeal and jumps up from Jimmy’s lap as soon as she see’s Madelyn. “Oh my god…it’s her…” she breathes and I just smile.

“There’s my girl!” Jimmy sounds almost in shock as he stands up, looking at her wide-eyed.

“Guys....Tempe, I would like to introduce you to Miss Madelyn Marie Haner…6 lbs 8 oz. Now don’t even think about trying anything with her you stick fucks, or I’ll beat your ass,” I say before I am surrounded by my brothers, all of them offering there congratulations and patting my back.

“Can I hold her?” Tempests asks and I reluctantly pass her over. As the blond holds her, I watch them carefully. “Oh, she looks just like Kay…with your eyes, Bri.” Tempest says, very carefully rocking my little girl. “She’s beautiful.”

“Dude…I can’t believe you’re a freaking dad,” Zacky claps my back and I just smile and nod. I can’t take my eyes off Jimmy and Tempest with Maddy. I’m just that hooked on her already.

“She’s gonna be a little kick ass and be jumpin’ on the sides just like Riz, that’s for sure.” Matt chuckled, putting his arm around my shoulders. “But she can’t stay Riz forever you know.”

I turn and look at Matt with a raised brow, not sure what he’s talking about. “Dude, you’ve got a kid now. You keep that girl.”

“I think what Shadz is trying to say is that you should marry her,” Zacky explains seeing my confusion.

“You’re right…” I breath, thinking of how much of an ass she must think I am. I mean, I know that I cant live without her and that there is no way I’m letting Maddy out of my sight. So why not? “I need to make her mine officially…” I nod, with a smile over my face.

“Wait did I just hear what I think I heard!” Tempest turns around to face me with wide excited eyes. “You are going to ask Kay to marry you?!”

“Yeah, I think it’s time to make us a real family.”
