Nobody Said It Was Easy

Chapter Eight

Third Person

When Matt locates Hannah on the dance floor with Jason Berry – his good friend and roadie, anger sparks inside of him.

Hannah has her arms draped over Jason’s shoulders, his hands are as low as they can possibly be on her back and they’re grinding together with enormous smiles plastered on their faces. Of course, from where Matt is standing he can’t tell that their dancing is completely harmless and nothing more than some fun between two good friends – it doesn’t mean anything. Of course that isn’t what Matt thinks, no, he’s positive that Hannah is using whatever remaining lustful feelings she had been feeling outside when they shared a very passionate kiss on the fucking roadie.

He marched across the room towards Hannah, knocking right into Zack on his path and barely stopping long enough to mutter a pathetic ‘sorry’ to his best friend so that he could reach Hannah before the provocative dancing progressed any further.

Once he reached her, he got her attention and quickly told Jason to find someone else to dance with. He really did try to make it light-hearted, but there was no way anyone was buying it.

Jason gave Hannah a concerned look over Matt’s shoulder, but she shot him a reassuring smile and waved him off, pointing to another party guest who was approaching him with a beautiful smile on her face. The second Jason turned around and Hannah looked back to Matt, he took her by the arm and lead her back outside.

For a minute, she honestly thought that he was taking her back to the playground, but he stopped short and pressed her back gently against one of the large trees on the grass area that separated the party venue from said playground.

“What the hell was that?” Matt demanded.

“What was what?” Hannah asked, avoiding his gaze and opting to look at her red, shiny shoes
instead.

Matt suddenly became aware of how uncomfortable, awkward and embarrassed she was feeling and his gaze softened on her despite the fact that she couldn’t see it. He placed his long index finger under her chin and tipped her head up, carefully forcing her to look at him – and she did, she looked right into his eyes and Matt instantly felt his heart beat faster.

“You tell me that it would be a good time to make a move, and I do, you kiss me back with as much passion, want and need as I do and then you break the kiss, apologize for something and take off without another word,” Hannah remained silent “You just left me standing there like some chump, Hannah, what was that all about?”

“I felt guilty,” She admits without missing a beat.

“Why?” He asks.

“Because, I was comforting you while you confided in me about how difficult it is on you now that you’re not with Valary anymore and me telling you that it was a good time to make a move was me making a move on you when I shouldn’t have,” Matt opened his mouth to speak but snapped it shut when Hannah continued “When you made your move, I only made myself even more sleazy by returning the kiss instead of removing myself from the situation and giving you some lame line, like ‘you’re not thinking straight’ or some shit!”

He knew that she was getting worked up, that she was getting upset with herself and suddenly he realised that he was now out of his depth. Despite the fact that they had been best friends since before Hannah could walk on her own – she barely lets herself get too upset around Matt, but she doesn’t really let her guard down around anyone other than Brian, and Erin on occasion, but now the pregnancy hormones are making it a little harder to keep a grip on her emotions.

“I’m so sorry, Matt.” Hannah continued to ramble “I don’t know what I was thinking – I wasn’t thinking – and you didn’t need that, I don’t even know if you’re ready for something like that yet because you’re not even dating-“

Her rambling is cut off when Matt crashes his lips against her, and he has done it for a few reasons; he wanted her to know that it was alright – that he had wanted to kiss her before, he had been dying to kiss her again from the second she ran from him, and he also desperately wanted her to stop rambling.

Almost immediately, she was kissing him back with as much earnest as he was kissing her
with. His hand was cupping her jaw just like before, and it was such an intimate and passionate, yet innocent, gesture. Both of her hands were in his long locks of hair, but she wasn’t tugging, she was just letting them both feel the comfort of her fingers knotting in his hair.

The kiss lasted for several minutes longer than their last one, and when they broke away from the kiss they leaned into one another and pressed their foreheads together.

“Tell me what you’re thinking,” Hannah ordered softly, nothing close to a harsh or demanding tone to her voice – in fact, she sounded sleepy.

“You’re-“ Matt caught himself and chuckled breathily when he realised what he was about to say.

“I’m what?” She asked, opening her eyes and smiling softly.

“You’re not a little kid anymore,” He pointed out.

“You’re damn right,” She laughed, pulling away from him and resting her head back on the tree
trunk so that she could look at him better.

“It still scares me, though.” He admitted “Brian would have my dick on a plate if he saw this,”

“What does your dick have to do with anything?” She asked, smiling wider “We’re only making out right now, nothing more.” She pointed out.

“Fine,” Matt sighed dramatically and playfully “He’d sew my damn lips shut so that I could never lay another kiss on that beautiful moth of yours,”

Erin can’t remember the last time she has ever left so alive.

Knowing that a party is in full swing just inside the building that she is currently pressed up against sends a thrill right through her and settles in her core.

She was sober enough to know that she wanted to do what she was about to do, but she was also drunk enough to stop herself from overthinking anything and backing out before it got good.

“Zack,” She moaned against his lips when he ground his pelvis harder against her “Zack, I need you – please.”

“You don’t have to ask me twice,” He smirked against her lips.

His hands moved up and under her dress and around to cup her perfectly perky ass, and
before she had a second to register what was going on he had already lifted her into the air and she was instinctively wrapping her legs around his waist to keep herself in place as much as she could while he used his upper body to keep her pressed against the wall.

Their lips are locked together once again in a passionate, needy kiss while Zack lets go of
Erin’s ass so that he can unbuckle his belt. With her amazing legs that he has always loved,
Erin keeps herself in place effortlessly and once his belt is undone he is shoving her panties to
the side and easing himself into her. It’s easy enough because she is already dripping with anticipation and they both let out loud moans as he pushes into her and she sinks down onto
him.

“Zack, please… my clit – I need you to…”

“Only if you can keep it down, baby,” He growled, although seemingly struggling to keep quiet himself.

She could on while in response. Zack moved his hands from where they were gripping her tightly and clamped his left hand over her mouth while his right reached down for her clit, pinching it roughly and she cried out into his hands as she came suddenly at the contact.

If she hadn’t been holding onto his shoulder so tightly by this point because otherwise she would have dropped to the floor with how wildly her hips were thrashing against her will.

Zack bit down on her shoulder, suddenly, to keep himself silent as he thrust into her a few more times and then felt himself coming inside of her. Eventually, he removed his hand from her mouth and half collapsed over Erin’s vibrating body that was still pinned to the wall.

“I think someone’s coming,” Erin whispered.

Zack quickly pulls put, yanking up his pants while Erin pulled her dress back into place.

Hannah

“Do you have any idea how long it’s going to be before I even get asked out on another date?”
Hannah asked with a pathetic, desperate laugh as she swung herself a little harder on the
swing.

While making out against a tree had been insanely hot, Hannah’s feet quickly started hurting and she was also worrying about the possible marks that could be appearing on the back of her white dress, so Matt suggested that they move back into the park and sit back on the swings
like before she took off.

“You’re so full of shit!” Matt laughed obnoxiously “You think that just because you’re pregnant that nobody is going to ask you out?”

“Yes!” She laughed, louder this time while she reached over and smacked his arm as hard as
she could be bothered to “People see a young, pregnant woman whom they don’t know and they instantly assume that the baby-slash-babies that she’s carrying around inside of her are actually hers,” I dropped my head back and looked at the sky “No guy is going to even attempt
to hit on me because they’ll see that I’m already carrying baggage and think that I’m most likely with the father of ‘my’ babies,”

“I’m sure that the news will be out there on the internet soon enough that Synyster Gates and his beautiful wife are using Baby Haner as their surrogate for their children,” Matt teased, earning himself another smack on the arm.

“I’m not getting messed up in it,” I swore, using the tip of my index finger to draw an ‘X’ over my heart “That didn’t go so well the last time,”

Matt laughed, remembering the time that Hannah tried to clear up a rumour that had been going around about some happenings between certain members of the band – and when people called her out and claimed that she was just some ‘rabid fan’ who didn’t know anything and she corrected them and pointed out who she actually was… they didn’t believe her – of course.

Hannah got so mad and sent them all hate/rage messages before she managed to calm herself down and take a break from Twitter for a couple of days until the dust settled.

“Also,” She added, clearing her throat “What’s with the ‘Baby Haner’ thing?” She asked, an accusing look on her face “I thought I got it through to you bunch of morons that Mac is the baby because she’s the youngest,”

“I thought we explained it to you,” Matt teased “For years, you were the baby and a bunch of ten year old boys weren’t going to assume that your mom and dad were doing the dirty and thinking about the possibility of having another kid – when you were toddling around the house in diapers and chasing after all of us, we started to call you Baby Haner and it just stuck,”

“I never liked it,” She pouted, turning back to look ahead.

“We know,” Matt smirked, looking at her profile now and he waited a beat before speaking again
“Are you really going to miss dating that much?” He asked.

“No,” She admitted with a small shrug “I’ve never really been one for dating – everyone knows that, but it would be nice to have the option arise at some point in the next year,”

“Well-“ He cleared his throat nervously “Why don’t you let me take you out on a date tomorrow night?”

“I can’t,” She told him “I have to work late at the store tomorrow night,”

“Oh come on!” Matt laughed nervously, but tried to brush it off as casual while hoping that
Hannah didn’t notice the furious embarrassed blush on his cheeks and neck “You can’t reject
me on my first try,”

“Of course I can!” She laughed, looking at him again “I’m not just doing it for the sake of it – I really do have to work tomorrow night, but that just gives you another chance to ask me out, Sanders.”

“Alright,” He exhaled quickly, looking at the ground for a second before looking back at Hannah again “Would you like to go on a date with me on Sunday night?”

“Sunday?” Hannah asked with a little cringe.

“Fine,” He laughed “Monday?”

“Monday suits me just fine,” She giggled “Are you sure you want to take me out?” She asked
“Won’t it be weird going out with your best friend’s baby sister?”

“Not at all,” He told her honestly “I don’t think Brian will have a problem with us going for a harmless dinner – if he even ever finds out, that it.”

Right, harmless. That’s all this was – of course it was. How could she have been so stupid as to think that those kisses they had shared had actually meant something to a recently divorced man, this was nothing but a little harmless fun – a rebound sort of thing.

Matt regretted the words the second they were out of his mouth. He hadn’t meant it to sound the way it did and he knew that Hannah was no doubt thinking that he didn’t care for her – but she was wrong, so, so wrong. Of course he cared about her, and he wanted her to be happy but he wanted to be the one to make her happy. He didn’t know what had happened or what had changed since the band got home from tour but for whatever reason he seems to be looking at little Baby Haner in a completely different light and he doesn’t know how to stop it. He doesn’t think that he even wants to stop it – and that scares him.

Third Person

Once Erin and Zack were all done with their banging on the wall, they headed back into the party and Erin found Dale while Zack found Meaghan, both of them with lazy smiles on their faces and their minds swirling with thoughts of one another.

Hannah had started to feel a chill while her and Matt sat on the swing set outside and Matt lead her back into the warmth so that she wouldn’t catch a cold. Hannah took a seat beside Erin and leaned on her shoulder, and Matt took a seat next to Hannah and placed his hand comfortingly on her knee just to remind her that he was still there.
Radiohead’s Creep filled the room and Erin and Hannah lit up immediately at one of their favourite songs from when they were younger. They grabbed one another and hurried out into the middle of the dance floor. They wrapped themselves around each other and swayed softly from side to side along with the music and Erin made a comment about how they must look like they’re at a school dance in some crummy teenage high school movie or something – that made Hannah laugh, but she was starting to feel exhaustion weighing down on her all of a sudden and she leaned into Erin further, resting her head on her chest. Erin moved her hands so that they were holding around her back and she could hold her tighter against her, while
Hannah had draped her arms comfortably over Erin’s shoulders.

Matt and Zack were sitting at the table, across from one another but watching the two girls on the dance floor.

They looked amazing, dancing together the way that they were. They seemed so at peace, relaxed and comfortable in one another’s embrace – just like they always have. A lot of the other guests at the party were dancing around the two girls, but Hannah and Erin seemed to only see each other while Matt and Zack only seemed to see them, too.

“I love you,” Erin whispered into Hannah’s hair, planting a kiss on the top of her head “You know that, right?”

“I know,” Hannah murmured sleepily “I love you, too.”

“No matter what?” Erin asked.

“Forever,” Hannah nodded “Guess what…”

“What?”

“You smell like sex,”

Before she could say anything, Erin felt Hannah’s breathing even out and she knew that she
was fast asleep; standing up and somewhat dancing. Being pregnant was really taking it out on her.

Back at the table, Matt noticed Erin looking around the room for help with Hannah. She needed to get her home, but she couldn’t carry her anywhere on her own, and she smiled when she noticed that Matt was striding over to them.

“What’s going on?” Matt asked, placing a large hand on Hannah’s back softly.

“She’s sleeping,” Erin chuckled “Could you help me get her home?”

“No problem,” He smiled, easing Hannah off of Erin before scooping her into his arms,
effortlessly, bridal style.

Erin slipped Hannah’s shoes off of her feet and dangled them off of the tips of her own fingers as she walked back across the room to the table so that she could grab their purses.

“Erin!” She heard someone call out.

When she turned around, Brian Senior was making his way towards her.

“Hey Papa!” Erin smiled widely.

“Are you girls leaving?” He asked, nodding to everything that she was holding in her hands.

“Yeah,” She nodded “Hannah’s passed out, so Matt’s going to help me take her home,”

“Well,” He nodded once “Tell her to call me in the morning, alright?”

“I will do, Papa.” She promised, leaning in to kiss him on the cheek “Enjoy the rest of your
party, and congratulations,”

“Thank you, sweetheart.” He smiled, turning and walking over to another friend of his.

Erin made her way out of the building and down to the parking lot where she found Matt
standing next to his own car, rocking Hannah slightly in his arms and as she got closer she
could head him singing to her softly, and that’s when she knew for sure.

Erin

Matt hadn’t had as much to drink as I had, so her drove the three of us back to the apartment
while I sat in the back seat with Hannah’s head in my lap as she lay across the seats. She
hadn’t woken up at all since we left the party.

When we got to the apartment, he carried Hannah up the stairs behind me and I let us inside.

“Just take her into her bedroom,” I told him, pointing in the direction of our bedrooms “Lay her
on the bed and I’ll be in there in a minute to get her into bed,”

He nodded silently and walked off with Hannah still in his arms. All of the guys were strong, but

the fact that Matt had carried Hannah so far for so long without faltering in the slightest was
amazing to me, their bodies just seemed to fit so perfectly against one another.

I tossed my purse onto the table beside the door and put Hannah’s with it before I kicked off my
shoes and dropped both pairs of pumps onto the floor and padded into the kitchen to get a
glass of water.

He didn’t say anything, but I felt Matt coming into the kitchen behind me just a minute later so I
poured him a glass of water, too. I handed it over to him and he thanked me quietly.

“Something tells me-“ I took a drink of my water “That you don’t want to go home tonight,”

“What’s telling you that?” He asked, chugging his water.

“The way you’re hanging around here,” I pointed out “You’re never exactly here for a prolonged
period of time, and whenever you have to be you seem desperate to get away, but not
tonight…” another sip “You seem content tonight, happy, relaxed and pretty comfortable as
though you really don’t want to leave,”

“Well then, I guess maybe I don’t want to leave,”

“You don’t have to,” I told him “There’s a spare pillow in the closet by the bathroom and a pretty
comfortable throw on the back of the sofa if you want to sleep there,”

“Thanks, E.” He smiled.

“I’ll be right back,” I promised “I should probably get Hannah out of that dress before something
pops,”

I heard him chuckling as I walked away.

I got into Hannah’s bedroom and found her sleeping on her bed where Matt had put her, the
duvet had been pulled back but she wasn’t tucked in. That made it easier for me to get her into
bed. I sat her up, unzipped her dress and lay her down again while I tugged it from her swollen
body. Once she was just in her bra and panties, I tucked her into bed and shut out the light as I
left.

I walked into the living room, planning to find Matt watching TV or something, but instead, I
found him on the sofa with the remote control in his hand and the TV on static. He hadn’t even
managed to turn the TV on properly before he crashed.

With a smile on my face I made my way down the hall to the closet by the bathroom and
brought it back to prop under his head – luckily I didn’t wake him, and then I covered him with
the throw and turned off the TV on my way out of the living room and back to my bedroom.

It had been a long, eventful night

OMG OMG OMG!!! Matt should have just said that he said those things to get Brian off his back! Maybe Hannah wouldn't be so hurt and be more understanding of that. I love that Hannah threw Zacky under the bus with Erin in her moment of panic. I wonder who called the police and I hope that Hannah is okay! Can't wait for more of this dramatic story! Keep up the awesomeness!! <3 <3 <3 XoXo
