Dancing Girl

Matt POV

We just finished the show, damn it feels good to be back on stage. I love the adrenaline rush that goes through me once I set my foot on the stage and once I see the people singing to our songs. And it’s always good playing in our hometown. They’re the best in the whole fucking world. I think they missed our presence: lots of bras and panties were thrown at us, especially at Brian. That guy’s mic almost collapsed by the huge amounts of bras it was holding.

As usual, when we finish out set list, we throw some things at our beloved fans on the front. I went at the back of the set, got some of out our set lists which are written down for us and throw them at the people. I grab one stick from Arin and throw that as well. Some girls are flashing me so that I’ll sign their boobs. Well, I shouldn’t say no, right? As I am going to sign them, I notice that Brian ran off the stage to the backstage. What happened? Quickly, I sign the boobs, and get rid of them to go after Brian. The other guys are still throwing and signing stuff.

I open the door and find Brian looking around like a mad man.
“Haner, what the hell happened? Why did you get off the stage so fast?” I ask him.
“Here……..she…….what the fuck……..where…..” he’s mumbling some words under his voice, I cannot actually understand anything. He’s looking around some parked cars in the street. I go towards him, stop him and grab him from his shoulders.
“Bro, what’s up?”
“Katelyn. She’s back!” he tells me, still looking around and not at my face. Wait, what?! I shake him a little bit so as to look me in the eyes.
“What did you just say?” I calmly ask him.
“Katelyn is back. I swear to God she was here!”
“WHAT?!” I hear a girl shouting from behind me. It’s Nina. She comes running at us and pushes me away from Brian, so as to hold him herself. “You better not be joking right now or I swear to God….!”
“No I swear! I saw her during Dear God. She was by the door. I think she was alone, I didn’t see anyone with her. She was crying…” Nina cuts him off.
“She was crying? Was she hurt? Brian, tell me what you saw!!” she yells at him.
“I’m fucking telling you everything Nina, promise! Yes she was crying but I don’t think she was hurt. I think she was crying because of the song. She seemed……moved. She was smiling at me and crying at the same time. Then, when we finished the song, I looked at her and saw her looking at me. That’s when I saw her leaving the venue. I’m telling you guys, she was her!!” he lets himself lose from Nina’s grip and starts looking around again. “And now I don’t know where the fuck she is!!”

After some minutes searching for her, we give up that she’s actually around the venue. Nervously, Brian brings out his Marlboro and smokes a cigarette.
“I don’t get it, I really don’t. So she was here, why would she leave that quickly?”, Brian asks us in a calm manner, which actually surprises me.
“I don’t know Brian. Maybe she’s still nervous around us, around you? I don’t know” Nina tells him. She tries calling Katelyn but it was for nothing. “Listen, I know Katie. If she’s still somewhere here, she will find one of us by today. So if someone sees Katelyn, we’ll call each other and keep us informed, okay boys?”

When we have packed our shit up and explained everything to everyone, we decided to head home and relax for a bit rather than going out. Quickly I went after Brian, who hurriedly left to his car.
“Yo, Haner wait up!” I shout at him. He turns his head quickly.
“What happened?”
“No nothing. Just wanted to see whether you want me to come with you for tonight”
He shrugs at this idea, “Nah no need. I’m just going to drink some more and sleep it off”
“We will find her. If she’s here, she’ll come and find us, I just know it”, I hear Arin from behind me.
“Yeah, sure. It’s always like that” Brian says. He seems like he already lost hope.
“Dude just enlighten a little bit. She will come” I tell him.
“Yeah, yeah whatever. Listen I really need to get home, I’ll call you tonight or..whatever. Just call me if you hear anything” he tells us, while he’s opening his car door.
“Sure we do” Arin tells him.
We look at him as he speeds away. He can’t take it anymore. He really wants to see her.

Everyone start going to their cars and I see Nina still sitting on the pavement, staring at her phone. I go next to her and sit down, making her looking up towards me.
“I take it as she still hasn’t picked up that damn phone of hers” I tell her.
She nods as she puts one of her hands to her face, “Ughhh she should just come back. For good. And get it over with. I mean I do understand her motive and everything, but this is too much. She’s driving us insane, and if she truly came back that means she wants to be here as well.” She sighs and continues, “I miss her Matt. I really do. I mean I’ve known her for years, and she’s like my sister from another mother. Since all this shit happened I tried to keep strong in front of everyone else, but now I’m feeling like I’m falling apart. If she left again, I don’t think I would be able to handle it this time, I really don’t.”
I put my arm around her and pull her to my body. I can feel her sigh into my body.
“If she left again, we’re here for you. I’m here for you, and will going to help you go through it, I swear” and kiss her temple. She whispers ‘Thank you’ underneath her breath.
“Come on let’s go and rest for a bit. I’ll drive you home”.

During the drive back to Nina’s house, she keeps telling me different stories and adventures of her and Katelyn together. She really misses her, it’s not an act.
“Thanks for the ride home, and for hearing me out” she tells me once we arrive in front of her house. She leans forwards and kisses me. It feels so good, her lips touching mine. I want to deepen my kiss, but I don’t – everything is up to her. I lift my hand and put it gently on her face and slowly pull her towards me. She moves back again, parting from the kiss.
“You want to come inside?” she asks me, while she’s tenderly smiling at me.
“Hell yes”, I tell her under my breath, as she starts laughing at my remark. This is good, hearing her laugh again. She should forget for a bit about all the shit we’re having lately. Tonight, we shall both forget everything and everyone else, and just think of us two.


Brian POV

Damn, I cannot sleep. It’s already 4am. I cannot stop thinking about what happened today. Katelyn crying during the song which I wrote. Did she like it, or was she disappointed? But then of course, she had to fucking leave again. I hope she didn’t leave because of the song, maybe I overwhelmed her?
Oh, this is so fucking useless. I get out of bed and go to the living room. I keep checking my phone for any updates – up till now, nothing. I turn on my laptop and browsed our fan page. There are a lot of positive comments on today’s show. They liked the new songs, and there are a lot of comments mentioning ‘Dear God’. People loved it. I can’t help but smile while reading their comments, at least something good came out of a very depressive situation.

At that moment I see my phone switching on. I quickly grab it, but to my disappointment it’s just showing that it has low battery. I sigh, still holding the phone tightly in my hands. I dial Katelyn’s number, might as well give it a chance myself.
I hear it ringing, damn I hope that she picks up the damn phone. I want to listen to her voice. I want to so bad.

At that exact moment I hear a distant ringtone coming from outside my house. Still holding my phone to my ear, I turn my head towards the door. Is that a fucking ringtone I am actually listening to? The ringtone stops and the beeping on my phone stops as well.
“Hi”, I hear, in the softest voice.
“Hey you”, I get up moving towards the door, very slowly, still trying to make sense out of the situation. “You picked up this time”
“Yeah I did”
I arrive at the door, put my hand on the doorknob and slowly I unlock the door and open it. Then I see her, I can actually see Katelyn on my front porch, holding the phone to her face. I see her eyes widen open when she sees me, while I let out my breath.
“Are you in front of my door right now? Like for real, are you on my front porch?” I ask her, still speaking to her through the phone.
She chuckles nervously, “Yes I think I am. Why you ask?”
“Just to double check, to make sure that this beautiful vision in front of me is really you and not a doppelganger or some shit”
“No it’s truly me”, she smiles at me, our eyes together with both of our phones still to our faces. “Maybe we should get rid of this”, and she points to her phone.
“Oh yeah obviously” I tell her, pulling away the phone and switching it off, not breaking our eye contact. She does the same.

“Hi”, I tell her once more.
“Hey you”, she replies, motioning with her hand.
We spend a couple of seconds not saying anything, just staring at each other’s’ eyes. She is really here.
I grab her hand firmly and pull her inside my home.
