::Chapter Eleven::
When I woke up the next morning I was in bed alone, ‘Dev?’ I asked but got no response so I got up and pulled on my boxers. I went downstairs and smelled food cooking in the kitchen so that’s where I went and I saw Devin bent over getting something out of the oven
‘hey’ I said and she jumped a little and turned around ‘sorry, didn’t mean to scare you’ I smiled as I walked over to her, she smiled back and leaned up to kiss me, I kissed back and wrapped my arms around her after she turned back to the stove
‘What are you making?’ ‘chip beef and biscuits, your coffees on the counter’ she said and I smiled then kissed her shoulder softly ‘thank you’ ‘you're very welcome’ she smiled and finished making the food while I kept my arms around her.
‘How long have you been up?’ I asked her once we were in the living room ‘uh, since 6 I think’ ‘why so early?’ ‘I can’t sleep late’ she said and I nodded ‘well thank you for breakfast’ ‘don’t mention it baby, I like cooking’ she smiled then leaned over and kissed me, I kissed back then started eating as we watched some tv.
::Devin’s POV::
Matt and I finished breakfast then got in the shower, we brushed our teeth then got dressed for the day. I made sure I had all my stuff together and as we were walking downstairs my cell started ringing, ‘hello?’ ‘hey kid, can you come home I have to tell you something’ ‘why can’t you just tell me over the phone?’ I asked as Matt and I sat on the couch
‘well, alright, um the band and I have to do a European tour and we leave tomorrow’ ‘what!?’ I yelled and stood up to pace ‘I'm sorry, I just found out’ ‘how long will you be gone?’ ‘four months’ he said and I sighed softly and put my hand on my forehead ‘ok, I’ll be home soon’ I said then hung up after saying goodbye.
I put my phone in my pocket then looked over at Matt ‘what's wrong?’ ‘my dad and the band are going on a European tour for four months and they leave tomorrow’ ‘so he’s going to miss Thanksgiving and Christmas?’ Matt asked and I nodded as I sat on the couch next to him ‘I'm sorry baby’ ‘nothing I can do about it’
‘well, you can always stay with me if you feel lonely’ he said and I smiled then looked up at him, he smiled back and leaned down to kiss me, I kissed back and hugged him tight ‘I better go spend some time with him, can I call you tomorrow?’ ‘Always’ ‘ok, I love you’ ‘I love you to baby’ he whispered and kissed me again, I smiled and kissed back softly then got up, grabbed my stuff and left.
When I got home I found my dad up in his room packing ‘hey dad’ I said as I leaned on the doorframe, he looked up and smiled at me ‘hey baby, I'm sorry I can’t be with you for the holidays’ he said as he came over and hugged me, I hugged back and nodded ‘it’s ok, I understand’ I said softly as I rested my chin on his chest and looked up at him,
he kissed my forehead and smiled ‘I do have your Christmas presents though and I want you to have them now’ he said and I nodded with a big smile. He smiled back then led me into my room where I saw that he had gotten me a new desk with a beautiful black chair, new bedding, a really cool notebook, a throw blanket and a new sketch book.
‘I love everything, thank you so much’ I said happily as I hugged him tight around the waist, he hugged me back and smiled ‘I thought you’d like everything, now I'm going to leave you my car but I'm gonna need you to take me to Dan’s house tonight because that’s where the bus is picking us up tomorrow but I wanna take you to dinner first’
‘want me to drop you at Dan’s on the way back?’ ‘yeah that would be best’ he said and I nodded then we walked back into his room and I helped him finish packing. I grabbed my bag and we walked out the door with his suitcases in hand, we put them in the trunk then we left to go to dinner.
