Nothing lasts forever

"Jason! Quite being a lazy ass and help me!" I shouted while trying to load up the stage equipment.

"Get Mattie to do it." Jason said from his spot on the lawn.

"You get a kick out of watching me do this alone, don't you?" I questioned raising an eyebrow.

"You know I do." He chuckled while grabbing the last piece of equipment.

"You're an asshole." I shook my head at him.

"I got here 2 seconds ago and you're already calling me names! Love you too sis." Johnny squeaked from behind me.

"Oh calm down brother bear. I was talking Jason the Nardberry." I said turning to face him.

"Nardberry? Nice..." Johnny said cracking a smile. "Anyways, guess what?"

"You finally came to terms with your gnome status?" I quipped with a smirk.

Johnny glared at me and you could hear Jason laughing in the background. "No buttmunch. You and the Nardberry's get to meet the new drummer."

Jason groaned and I laughed. "It's official Jason! You and Mattie will be forever known as the Nardberry's!"

"Whatever you say Wacky Jacky!"

"Hey!"

"You guys sound like 5 year olds. Anyways, let's go to the studio. The new kid is gonna meet us there." Johnny said pinching my arm.

I nodded and walked to his car. I got the passenger seat and Jason slipped in the back as Johnny got in the driver's seat. I turned on the radio and smiled as Buried Alive filled the air. Johnny started the car and pulled out of the driveway and onto the road.

"So," I said while pulling my hair back into a high ponytail. "Tell me about this kid."

"Well his name is Arin." Johnny stated as he turned onto PCH. "He's 28 and he used to be in that one band, Confide."

"Finally! Somebody who isn't an old man!" Jason squealed from the back seat.

"Hey! I'm not even 30 yet!" Johnny whined.

"But your the oldest out of the people in their 20's" I said matter-o-factly and Johnny flicked my ear.

"Whatever! I don't wanna hear another word from you two!"

"You're a stinker." Jason mumbled.

I burst out laughing and so did Jason. Johnny probably didn't hear him because he was looking at us like we were psycho. Soon, we were in front of the studio and Johnny was lecturing Jason about how he'll kill him if he flirts with me again. I walked in the door and noticed Matt standing with his back facing me. Worst mistake ever. I ran and jumped on his back making him scream like a little girl. He jerked his back up making me fall off. All the guys were laughing and he was whining.

"WHAT'S RULE NUMBER ONE?!" I screamed.

"NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON A SEWARD!" Zacky laughed.

"Good boy. See Shadz? Zackary knows what's up." I said patting the top of Matt's head.

"You know Matt. He never listens." Val giggled from the couch she and River were sitting on.

"We've established that during the City of Evil days." I retorted while walking over to them.

I picked up River and kissed his cheek. "How's it going buddy? I swear, he's gonna be a major chick magnet when he grows up."

"You're telling me." Matt said while opening a water bottle.

I handed River to Val and started to set up the ISO booth. "Check to see if the mic is working." Matt's voice rang through the booth.

"Can you hear me asswad?" I yelled into the pop filter.

"Shut up Jacqueline." Matt chuckled.

"Hey guys, Arin's here!"

I walked out of the ISO booth but stopped in my tracks the second I laid eyes on him.

Arin's POV*

I was being greeted by the everyone at once. I already met the guys but I didn't meet their wives and the roadies. So far I was introduced by Matt's wife and his son and the Berry twins.

"And there's our other roadie." Matt said pointing over my shoulder.

I turned around and my breath hitched at the sight of her. She had long blonde hair with blue accents on her bangs and it was tied back in a high ponytail. She had a slim face and pale skin with a nose piercing. She was wearing a cut-off Metallica tee and frayed jean shorts exposing her long, slender legs. Her ocean blue eyes were fixated on mine.

"H-hi." I stuttered. "M-my name is... uh..."

"Arin." Zacky whispered from behind me.

"Arin! It's Arin. I-I'm Arin." I rambled nervously.

She giggled and held out her hand. I shook it slowly and she smiled.

"I'm Jacqueline." God, even her name was beautiful.

"Jacqueline here, is Johnny's baby sister." Brian said gesturing to Johnny, who was looking at me suspiciously.

"Oh, that's cool." I said.

Zacky nudged me and said, "Why don't we have Jacqueline show you around."

"Yeah it'll be cool." She said.

"Ok." I chuckled nervously.

"But come over here real quick." Zacky pulled me away from everybody else.

"You gotta be careful with Jacqueline. Johnny may seem small but he'll kick your ass if he has too." Zacky whispered.

"I will... so that means she single, right?" I asked quietly.

Zacky nodded and I grinned. "But even though I'm not blood-related I'll still hurt you."

I walked over to Jacqueline and she smiled. She lead me out the door and into the hallway. We walked up to a soundproof door and she opened it slightly.

"This is where we record the piano and bass guitar." She said before shutting the door.

We walked further and she showed me the kitchen, bathroom, and where they record the guitars, orchestra and winds. Then we stopped in front of another soundproof door and she opened it all the way and walked in.

"This is where we record the drums. You'll be in here the most." She spoke softly.

"It's amazing in here." I breathed out.

The walls were black and had a huge deathbat across the wall. A poster of Jimmy sat on the wall and had 'foREVer' written across it. There was a huge drum set in the back and a box of drumsticks sitting on the table.

"Why are there so many drumsticks?" I asked pointing to the box.

"Sometimes during recordings, Jimmy would be so lost in the music the sticks would fly out of his hands. Or he'd hit the drums so hard they'd snap in half." Jacqueline smiled as if reliving the memory.

"He must've loved what he did." I spoke quietly.

"He really did." She sighed. "But now he's jamming in the afterlife."

I looked over to her and she was staring at his picture plastered on the wall. She had a weak smile on her face and a tear rolled down her cheek. Do it Arin. Don't be a pussy. I grabbed her arm and pulled her into my embrace.

"I'm sorry." I said into her hair.

"Don't be. It's not your fault." She mumbled into my chest.

"I know it's not. I just know how hard it is to lose a life-long friend and I'm sorry."

"You know, Jimmy would've loved you." She spoke.

"Jimmy loved everyone."

She laughed a little and looked up at me. "Yeah he did."

I smiled at her and she blushed. She looked into my eyes and smiled right back. I felt her face get closer and I looked down at her lips. Before anything else happened the door swung open and we snapped our heads up.

"What's going on here?" Brian smirked.

"N-nothing." Jacqueline stuttered while wiping her tears.

"Yeah nothing." I stated and Brian laughed.

"Alright you two, Johnny's getting antsy and is transitioning to older brother mode so if I were you I'd go back before he hunts you down. I'll just keep what I saw a secret." Brian said flashing us a shit-eating grin.

"Shut up Bri." Jacqueline said punching his arm. "C'mon. We better get back before Johnny explodes. It's gonna be a long day."
