Chapter 18: Rough Band Practice?

**Jimmy's POV**
I'm jamming down in my basement with Johnny and Zacky because Matt went to get his cast off and Brian has been physically and emotionally M.I.A. for the last few weeks. It's fucking killing me that there is now a noticeable rift between us that never existed before that night...I don't think they get how hard this is for us, they aren't just our band mates, they are our brothers and all this tension and distrust is ripping us apart!
I faintly hear the sound of my front door slam shut and heavy footsteps approaching the basement door....I can already tell it's Matt by his stride. He makes his way down the stairs and I immediately notice the cast still wrapped around his left arm. That's weird, I could have sworn he said today was the day he got that off.
"Hey Matt!" Johnny shouts and he just gives him a half-hearted wave then turns and plops himself down on the couch and starts up a game of COD with my rival Sullivan-Synyster Harlot 6661. I swear that girl kicks my ass every time I play her.
"What the fuck bro?!" Zacky yells, "Are you seriously refusing to talk to us again?!" he seethes out through gritted teeth.
Matt chucks the controller across the room, drops his head into his hands and growls out something under his breath but none of us catch it.
Suddenly, I hear someone coming down the steps and everyone except Matt glances over to see Brian standing there with a confused expression.
"Rough band practice?" Brian jokes and Matt just scoffs without even looking at us.
"Matt! What in the ever loving fuck is your problem?! You show up here with that fucking cast still on your arm and refuse to say even two words to any of us!" I scream then take a deep breath and continue in a slightly less pissed off voice, "I thought you would have been happy because Michelle is finally getting discharged today."
Matt lets out an overly sarcastic laugh and whips his head around to sneer at Brian, "Why don't you ask him why I'm in a shitty mood?!" he yells and we all turn to face Brian.
"Me? What did I do to offend you now, huh?! I have been trying my damnedest to get over the fact that one of my best friends actually fucked my then-girlfriend behind my back and now wants to fucking date her like it's no big deal!" Brian screams back at him and Matt rises from the couch and stands about two inches from his face but Brian doesn't seem to back down..instead he shoves him forcefully back and shouts, "I should be the one who's pissed off, not you! I won't though...I swore to Michelle I would support her as a friend regardless of if she wanted to be with me or not...and surprise, surprise, she doesn't!" he sighs, "You know, I accepted it a while ago because I know deep down that you would treat her the way she always dreamed of...the way she deserves. Also, I think I have real feelings for Val but it's going to take me some time to trust her after she used me as payback against you. I'm really nervous she doesn't feel the same way about me, so pardon me for not trying to rush back into a relationship just to put your mind at ease." he says sadly and I finally feel like the tension in the room is clearing and we can all breath again.
"But....I saw you at the hospital...you told Michelle that you loved her and then begged her to forgive you." Matt replies in a heartbroken tone, "I also saw you kiss her before deciding that I couldn't stand to watch for a minute longer. I left her flowers hanging on the door and ran out of there before even getting my cast removed."
"Eavesdropping eh? That's what you get for being a nosey jerk!" Brian says forcefully, "I went to see if Michelle would hear me out and allow me to apologize for hurting her for the millionth time. I begrudgingly gave her my approval of your relationship and told her that I would support her regardless because I owed it to her as her friend....as both your friends. The part you must have overheard was taken out of context but understand this...I do love Michelle...I always will... and I do want her to be happy so you better not fuck this up!" he growls.
"You kissed her though?" Matt says sadly and Brian punches his arm just hard enough to make him feel it without hurting him.
"Yes dummy, I kissed her...for comfort.... because I made her cry...on the fucking cheek.....HOW SCANDALIOUS!" Brian replies and we all let out a small chuckle.
Wow, Matt really over exaggerated what happened but I know he's just afraid that something is going to cause his new relationship to fail now that he's finally happy and in love.
"Ok, now that we cleared the air....can we practice because it's been forever since we all worked on the new album." I beg and they all laugh and nod their heads in agreement.
Finally, we feel like a family again....I hope it stays this way.
