Unholy Confessions & Profound Bounds

Chapter Ten

Hannah
After finding the car all scratched up, Erin needed a drink – I could tell – and she drove the two of us to the nearest bar.

I could handle my drink and I’d been known to drink a few people under the table but it was far too early for me, so while she ordered some shots, I ordered a Coke and slowly sipped it through a straw while she tossed back the tequila… or vodka or whatever the hell she was having.

We had only been in the bar for about ten minutes when Dean and Cas turned up.

“That’s really not the answer,” Dean told Erin as he took a seat on the stool next to her and Castiel sat himself on the stool beside me.

“So, you really won’t tell me who it is that left that message on my car?” She asked, downing another shot. Dean grabbed the next shot and slammed it down on the bar top.

“No,” He said, almost with a growl in his voice. ‘No’ seemed to be his favourite words, and unfortunately it was Erin’s least favourite… she hated being told no.

I was starting to feel slightly awkward sitting here next to Erin and Dean who seemed like they were about to really get into it. I wanted to leave, but I knew that it was easier just to stay put for a little while longer. If things got too out of hand I would just remove
Erin from the building myself before we were asked to leave.

I glanced up at Cas and noticed that he was already looking at me with a small smile on his face and he nodded when he saw me
looking at him and I felt myself turn the slightest shade of pink. I was really starting to like this guy, and something like this has only happened to me once and it didn’t turn out too good, so there was no way I was going to say or do anything – this dude is an angel anyway, I’m not even close to being worthy of any kind of affection from him, so I guess I can just keep dreaming.

“You seem to like the word ‘no’,” Erin commented, motioning to the bartender for some more shots.

I opened my mouth to say something to her, but she wasn’t looking at me so she didn’t notice and I was cut off by Dean when he spoke.

“It’s just better that you let Cas and I deal with it,” He said, making E scoff and roll her eyes.

“I’m gonna get some air,” She announced “I just cannot talk to you right now,” and with that she slid off of her stool and walked right back out of the bar.

Dean groaned and looked over at Cas and I, and he must have noticed the look on my face.

“What?” He asked.

“Something you should know about her,” I started, taking another sip of juice through my straw and swallowing it “She doesn’t take too well to not getting what she wants, she never takes ‘no’ for an answer when it comes to something serious, and whoever did that to her car has really, really fucked up and she’s going to want to take care of them herself,”

“Impossible,” Cas spoke up “We know exactly who carved the message into the paint work on the car, and there is no way that she would be able to ‘take care’ of him herself,”

“Don’t let E hear you say that,” I chuckled lightly “I’ll go out and talk to her,”

“No,” Dean said, holding his hand out and stopping me from getting up “I’ll talk to her, I need to try again to make her realise that this
isn’t something that she wants to get involved with,”

He waited for me to nod silently before he walked out of the bar in search of Erin, and I turned back to my drink and wrapped my lips around the straw and took a long drink and sighed.

“You’re torn,” Cas pointed out, making me look at him “You don’t know what you want to do anymore, do you?”

“…Yeah,” I sighed after a moment “I mean, we moved onto the road in search of adventure and on one hand I think that we were supposed to find you and Dean and maybe even the guys of Avenged Sevenfold, and maybe hunting is the adventure that we were supposed to find – or it was supposed to find us…”

“And on the other hand?” He asked.

“On the other hand, I think… I don’t know what I think, I just want Izzy back with us where we know that she’s safe,” I let out a long shaky breath before pulling some cash out of my pocket and tossing it onto the bar for the shots and the Coke before getting off of the stool “I need some coffee, you wanna come?”

He just nodded once and followed me outside where we found Erin with Dean wrapped around her, comforting her.

“Hey,” I said, getting their attention. They didn’t pull apart but they did look over at me “I was gonna go get some coffee, can I have
the keys?” I asked.

“Sure,” She smiled weakly, now pulling away from Dean to pull the car keys from her pocket and hand them over to me.

“You alright?” I asked.

“I’m fine,” She nodded, waving me off.

“Are you guys just going to hang around here or…” I looked up at Dean.

“I think we’ll go find a motel for the four of us to crash in later tonight,” Dean answered me “I’ll take Erin with me,”

“Keep an eye on her,” I warned him “I don’t need to be losing another one of my friends,”

“I’ll be fine,” Erin chuckled, shoving me lightly “Go,”

I laughed and walked away from the two of them and over to the car, Cas following closely beside me.

“Another car ride,” He grumbled a little.

“Don’t look so glum, I’m sure there’s a Starbucks not ten minutes from here, we passed it on the way into town earlier,”

~~~~
Castiel
Normally I despised riding in the confined space of a car, but riding with Hannah in Erin’s car seemed to be different, I didn’t seem to mind it so much.
Hannah parked outside the coffee place and tugged me inside with her and headed up to the counter and I followed her.
“Go sit down over there,” She said to me, her voice dropped to a lower volume than normal and pointed over to a table by the window “I’ll be right over,” She added when I hesitated to leave her side.
“Alright, I’ll be right over there,” I told her with a nod before turning from her and walking to the table that she had pointed to.
I sat down in one of the two chairs at the table and picked up the little menu that was in the middle of the round table and started to read what was written on it before glancing up to see where Hannah was in line and saw her walking towards me with two take-out coffee cups piled on top of one another and a muffin in the other hand.
“Hannah,” I started when she sat down “You know that I don’t have to eat or drink,”
“It’ll make you look a little less inconspicuous if you have something in front of you,” She said, sliding one of the cups towards me and popped the lid off of the one she had sat in front of herself “And I didn’t offer you any of my muffin,” She chuckled, peeling the paper off of the bottom of the muffin “This is all mine,”
I watched every movement that she made. Her long, nimble fingers would tear off parts of the muffin and pop the food onto her tongue so that she could chew it ever so slowly and gently, almost like she was afraid of hurting the food that she was eating, and she would swallow just as slowly as she chewed and wash it down with a mouthful of coffee.
I also took in all of the bracelets that she wore on her left wrist, and the ones she wore on her right wrist as well as the silver band that she wore around her right thumb and the middle finger of her right hand , the ring she wore on the middle finger of her left hand and the other ring that she wore on the index finger of her left hand, and I wondered where they all came from and why she wore them, and I noticed that the red paint she wore on her fingernails had started to chip in places, allowing some of her own nail to
show through.
“Are you just going to stare at me or are you going to pretend to drink your coffee?” She asked, looking across the table at me with a smirk on her face that let me know her comment was light-hearted.
“Sorry,” I apologized “I was just wondering…” I trailed off, popping the lid off of my coffee cup and placing my hand around it the same way Hannah had her hand around hers “Where you got your rings and bracelets and why you wear them, you have had them on every time I’ve seen you since we met,”
“Oh…” She smiled, looking down at her hands before going on to tell me about the band around her thumb. It belonged to her uncle and he had left it to her in his will when he passed away when she was just fourteen. They had been close all of her life and she was devastated when he died, and her aunt hadn’t had much of a problem separating with his wedding ring – Hannah claimed that it was because their marriage had been struggling a little towards the end of his days.
The ring on her index finger was her grandmothers – her grandmother is still alive – but she hadn’t worn the ring for many, many years and when she came across it one week before Hannah’s sixteenth birthday she had thought that it was very fitting to Hannah, and it was. Her grandmother’s first love had given it to her in the promise that he would return from the war and make her his wife, but he never made it home. Her grandmother fell in love just one year later and got married before having three children, Hannah’s mother being the second child. Back when her grandmother had found out that the man she loved wasn’t coming home to her, she felt that she no longer had a need to wear the ring on her finger because his promise had been broken, and so she put it away somewhere safe and forgot all about it for years.
The rings on both of her middle fingers had been gifts from Izzy and Erin.
“Those are beautiful stories,” I told her when she finished telling me about the rings “And what about the bracelets?” I asked.
“Oh, they’re just some things that I picked up at little markets over the years,” She shrugged “I developed this thing when I was about eighteen, where the more items I wore on my wrists the more comfortable I felt, the safer I felt… sort of like a security
blanket, you know?”
“I think so,” I smiled “They’re all very nice,”
“Thanks, Cas.” She smiled shyly at me.
She lifted her left wrist and looked at the watch that she wore amongst all of the bracelets to check the time.
“We’ve been gone for almost an hour,” She pointed out “Should we head back and see where we’re staying today?” She asked.
“If you would like,” I nodded once “Or, I could take you around a little bit and we could even look for Izzy while we’re still out, before
we go back to Dean and Erin,”
“Really?” She asked, a smile spreading across her face “That would be awesome,”
“I was going to look for Izzy anyway, and I just thought that you might like to come with me,”
She nodded enthusiastically and drank the rest of her coffee. Once she was done she folded up the paper case that her muffin had come wrapped in and dropped it into the empty coffee cup and closed the lid back onto it.
“Bring your coffee,” She said quickly as she jumped to her feet and turned to walk out of the building.
I quickly grabbed the coffee that she had bought me that was still completely full and followed her outside while securing the lid back
onto it.
“Where are we going?” I asked her as she dropped herself back into the driver’s seat and I followed suit, getting in the passenger side.
“Erin will kill me if I disappear with angel-boy without hiding her car or giving it back first, and I want to get going as soon as possible, so I’m going to hide the car,”
~~~~
Hannah drove for a few minutes back in the direction of the motel that we had stayed in the night before, but before she got too far she spotted a little dirt road through a wooded area and decided that it was a safe enough place to leave Erin’s car for a few hours.

She climbed out of the car and I followed suit and walked around to the front of the car and waited while Hannah made sure that all of the doors were locked correctly.

“Give me that,” She chuckled, reaching out for the full coffee cup that I was still holding in my hand “I’ll drink it if you’re really not going to,”

I handed it to her and watched her closely as she took a sip from it and hummed lightly.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” I asked “You just drank one of your own not ten minutes ago, aren’t you having a bit too much
caffeine?”

“Castiel,” She started, smiling over at me “If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my adult life, it’s that I cannot have enough coffee,” She chuckled “I’ve realised that I’m better off drinking a lot of coffee all day and crashing at night instead of having just one cup and feeling tired less than two hours later for the rest of the day,”

“Well, I guess it isn’t harmful, so if you have to have one vice I’m glad it’s caffeine and not something that will kill you,”

“Thanks,” She laughed, taking another drink “So, what do I have to do so that you can fly me away with you?”

“Nothing,” I told her “Just… brace yourself,”

Hannah
This was surprisingly fun.

Castiel could move us around quick and easily and I was pretty sure that I could get used to not driving around anymore. When he first transported us from the dirt road where I had parked the car, it was strange and totally uncomfortable and I hadn’t really wanted to do it the second time around, but it wasn’t so bad after the first time. It was sort of like trying a new food for the first time… you have to take a couple of bites before you can decide whether you like it or not.

“How long have we been looking?” Castiel asked me as we popped up on a park bench in an empty park.

I looked at my watch.

“Almost two hours now,” I told him.

“We should head back,”

“Yeah,” I said, my tone showing a little more disappointment than I had meant to let it.

“I know that you want to find her,” Cas said, his tone gentle as he reached out and awkwardly placed his hand on my shoulder “And
I promise you that we will, but I think we should be getting back now, I hear Dean calling for me,”

I closed my eyes and nodded for him to go ahead and suddenly I felt as though I was falling and cold air rushed over my body.
When I opened my eyes again we were standing by the car again.

“Come on,” I smiled, moving to the driver’s side of the car and unlocking the doors “Or, you can poof your way over there if Dean needs you right now,”

“He can wait,” Cas told me as he opened his door and lowered himself into the car “I’m going to enjoy another car ride,”
~~~~
Apparently Dean had told CAS which motel we would be staying in through one of his prayers and the room number that he was staying in, and it was only going to take fifteen minutes or so to get there.
“So, did Dean tell you why he needs you back so quickly?” I asked “It must be important if he’s praying to you when he knows that you’re out looking for Izzy with me,”
“Matthew,” He started “The man from the band, apparently he has contacted Dean and asked the two of us to meet up with him and his friends to talk about Izzy and Jimmy,”
“Just the two of you?” I asked, glancing at him as a frown tugged at my face.
He nodded.
“Why don’t Erin and I get to come along?” I asked.
“It could be dangerous, so it would be better if the two of you just wait back at the motel for the few hours that it will take us,”
“This is such bullshit,” I grumbled, gripping the steering wheel tighter and pressing my foot down on the accelerator a little harder
“I’m not fucking happy about this, and you can bet your feathery ass that Erin won’t be either,”
“My- My ass is not covered in feathers, Hannah.”
“I’m aware of that, Castiel.” I muttered, glancing over at him again with the ‘come on’ look.
“Then why did you say-“
“Shut up, Cas!” I snapped.
Ten minutes later I pulled up outside the motel and cut the engine, quickly climbing out of the car without saying a word to Castiel as
I walked back to the trunk and opened it, pulling out mines and Erin’s bags that we had thrown back in there when we found the car earlier and slinging them over my shoulder. Cas looked like he was about to offer to take one of them for me, but he backed off when I shot him a look and gestured for him to lead the way to whatever room was Dean’s and I followed him when he started to
walk.
We walked right into the room without knocking and found Erin sitting in one of the chairs and Dean was brushing his hand over her cheek.
Awkward.
Dean bent down slightly and looked into Erin’s eyes.
“It’ll be okay,” He said “I swear to you,” He kissed her cheek and walked across the room and out of the door with Cas by his side.
“I can’t believe this,” I sighed as I handed Erin’s bag over to her along with her car keys.
“Yeah, me neither,” She muttered “Who do they think they are, leaving us here alone?”
“Castiel knows that I’m not exactly happy about being left out of this whole meeting thing,” I told her.
“Yeah, I made sure that Dean knew how I feel about it,” She chuckled “You want to go to your room?” She asked “Shower or
whatever?”
“Yeah,” I nodded “Are we bunking together or did you get us separate rooms?” I asked.
“I got us separate rooms, but if you want to bunk together I can turn one of the keys back into reception and get some money back,”
“Would you mind?” I asked “I don’t really feel like having my own room tonight, not after what’s happened to Iz,”
“No problem,” She smiled, getting out of the chair and leading me out of Dean’s room “Here,” She handed me one of the keys and
her bag “Take our things into the room and I’ll get us some money back and order us a pizza,”
“Sounds good,”
~~~~
Hannah
I let myself into the motel room and left the door unlocked for Erin getting in.

I set her bag down on the bed closed to the door and tossed mine onto the bed closest to the bathroom and started rummaging through my things for my towels, a clean bra and a clean pair of underwear as well as a change of more comfortable clothes that would do for lounging around in the room for the rest of the night with Erin.

By the time that I finished my shower, dried off and got myself dressed and walked back out into the room, Erin was just paying for pizza at the door and thanked the guy before he left.

“Hmm,” I hummed “That smells good,” I commented.

“I got half and half,” She told me with a smile as she turned around to face me and climbed onto my bed “Half of your favourite and
half of mine,”

“You always have the best solutions to food problems,” I chuckled, climbing onto the bed beside her and tossing open the pizza box
“Let’s eat,”
~~~~
While we ate we watched a bad horror movie on TV in almost complete silence, only occasionally breaking it to make a comment on the shitty murder or the fake tits of one of the actresses, or just to joke about how bad the movie was, but other than that the two of us were completely silent.
“You know what we should do?” Erin asked, breaking the current silence.
“What?” I asked, glancing from the TV screen to her and back again.
“We should go after Dean and Cas,” She said “Make our own way to this meeting that they’re having,”
“Really?” I asked, turning to face her almost completely “You want to go against what they told us and follow them?”
“Of course!” She laughed “Since when were we the girls to ever do what we were told?” She asked, laughing some more and making me laugh with her.
“Let’s do it then!” I cheered, leaping off of the bed and rummaging back through my bag.
We both changed into the darkest clothes that we owned. Dark jeans, dark boots, dark t-shirts and almost identical black leather jackets, and the two of us wore our hair down and slipped back beanies onto our heads.
“Ready?” She asked from the door as she grabbed the car keys.
“You bet your ass I am,”
~~~~
Luckily Erin had noticed what direction Dean and Cas drove off in and so she took off in the same direction with the idea that we were going to be able to find them because a beautiful Impala and a huge tour bus wouldn’t be hard to miss.

After an hour and fifteen minutes of driving, we somehow managed to find Dean, Cas and the guys of Avenged Sevenfold standing in an empty parking lot with most of the streetlights in it busted, giving he whole scene a sort of sinister look to it.

We had spotted them while driving past and luckily none of them seemed to notice that it was us, so we carried on a little bit down the road and Erin cut the engine before we climbed out of the car and walked back to the parking lot.

When we got closer to the parking lot, we ducked into the slightly wooded area surrounding it and tiptoed through the grass and weaved between the trees so that they wouldn’t notice us.

When we were close enough to see clearly what was going on and we were able to hear clearly enough what everyone was saying, we stopped and got down onto the ground.

The seven of them were standing like an audience in front of a man who seemed to be a little short, kind of balding and of a medium weight. He wore a suit and a tie and he was standing in the middle of a red ring that seemed to have been spray painted onto the
concrete ground.

“What the hell is that?” Erin asked.

“I think it’s a Devli’s Trap,” I answered “I sort of stumbled across it when I was looking up the whole angel thing,” I shrugged
“Apparently if you summon a demon in front of one of those things, they’ll land in it and then they’re stuck, they can’t get out until the trap is broken one way or another,”

“We’ll have to keep that in mind,” She chuckled “Could come in handy one day,”

“I have a feeling that it will,”

We stayed silent and listened to the conversation that was taking pace before us.

“We know you have them,” Matt growled at the man “I don’t know who the fuck you are, but you better give them back to us in one piece,”

“Oh Matthew,” The man in the trap spoke, with a strong English accent I noticed “You should be a bit more polite to the only demon in the whole of Hell who can give you back our beautiful wife,”

“Crowley!” Dean yelled, his voice echoing through the air around us all “We know you have Jimmy and Izzy, and you know what we can do to you, so give them back so we can get on with our lives,”

“He has them?” Erin asked me with a frantic, panicked whisper, and I just nodded as I slowly got to my feet.

“OI!” I yelled out as loudly as I could, making all of them turn in the direction of my voice.

“Who’s there?” Brian called out after a moment of silence.

Slowly, Erin and I stepped out of the shadows and showed ourselves to everyone.

“Hannah,” Castiel growled at me “You two were told to stay back at the motel where it’s safe,”

“Don’t you use that tone with me,” I scoffed, my accent suddenly thicker, stronger as I felt an unusual rage build inside of me. Something that didn’t happen very much.

“Oh!” The ‘Crowley’ guy laughed “A Scottish lass,” He smirked at me as we got closer to the group “A woman of my own nationality, what a lovely change,”

“You’re English,” I pointed out.

“Now,” He shrugged “Originally, though, I’m Scottish,”

“Well come on then,” I smirked, holding my hands out to my sides as I stepped into the trap with him “Let’s have at it, foreigner to foreigner,”

“What?” He smirked “Fancy a fag and a chat?”
~~~~
Castiel
Hannah had no idea what she was getting into.
She had no idea who Crowley really was and what he was capable of… if I didn’t pull her out of that trap them he would most likely
kill her, well, maybe not… he seemed to like the fact that she was Scottish and not American.
“So…” Hannah spoke, tilting her head to the side “Crowley, is it?” She asked.
“That would be right, Love.”
“As in… Mr. Crowley?” She asked “The Ozzy song?”
He remained silent, and looked her from head to toe like he could eat her up and I felt my hands clenching into fists by my sides.
“Mr. Crowley, what went on in your head?” She sang “Oh, Mr. Crowley did you talk to the dead?”
“You think you’re funny, little girl?”
“Your lifestyle to me seemed so tragic, with the thrill of it all,” She continued before she started to laugh.
What the hell was she doing?!
“I get it,” He told her “You want to get your bestie back, and this tough-girl attitude is just an act… I know – I can see right through you,” He grabbed her hand and brought it up to his lips and kissed it before looking over to Erin “I am the King of Hell after all,”
Damn it, Crowley.
