Life According To Amber Lynn Haner

I Got Up Early For Nothing!

*Amber's POV*

By Wednesday, I just couldn't wait for the week to be over. It was early as hell, and I was already having a hot shower (which wasn't nice). The hot water stung my fresh cuts like acid, and it took all of my strength not to scream loudly. The struggle was real.

By seven o'clock, I was dressed (I wasn't in the mood to dress like I gave a shit, so I just threw on some skinny jeans and a Huntington Wolves hoodie (my school) and my black and white Vans), my hair was dried and my makeup was done. I'd literally just closed my eyes for about five minutes when Dad came in and woke me back up with a flick on my ear (he loves me, I swear).

"Why do I get the feeling that you're not telling me something." He sighed, and I gulped. Fuck.

"There's nothing, I promise. You know I tell you everything." I replied a little too quickly, which I do under pressure. However, I wasn't lying that I tell him everything, as that much is true (and I mean literally EVERYTHING (even some things that you're better off telling your mom and NOT your dad (which I can't tell my mom, so I tell him instead)).

"Are you sure? Like you haven't been yourself in the past few days, and you've gone quiet which isn't like you. Is it your.."

"No, it's not. I've just been really tired, I guess. That's it, I suppose."

"Nobody's giving you a hard time at school, are they?" He's onto me, because I can't lie to save my life.

"No, of course not. I mean, you know I'd tell you if there was."

"Then what's with all the sweaters? The heating's on, yet you're still in sweaters. Are you sure you're alright?"

"Yeah, I'm just cold."

"Then lift up your sleeves. I know this probably makes me seem mean, but baby, you're worrying me." I knew there was no point in fighting, so I rolled up my sleeves, to reveal my lovely wrists that were covered in fleshy pink marks.

"There, happy? You got what you wanted." I was getting snappy, and Dad wasn't having it.

"This isn't what I wanted, Amber. Don't use that tone with me, I'm warning you." He said, and I sighed, rolling back down my sleeves.

"Im sorry, I didn't mean it, I just.." I didn't really know how to finish that sentence.

"I know you didn't, and it's ok. But why are you doing this to yourself? Somebody's giving you a hard time at school, aren't they? And don't lie to me, there's no point."

"How did you-"

"Danny told me. He said a girl called Amelia was being a bitch to you yesterday, and that you ditched the last three classes. I had a feeling that you weren't really sick, but I kept my mouth closed. If she gives you shit, give her shit back. Austin told me that you used to take jujitsu classes, so you won't be afraid to hurt anybody. It was when he said that you took jujitsu that I knew you were my baby girl, because I did jujitsu too."

"Wow..that's cool. Should we get ready? It's seven thirty-five."

"Youre not going to school today, remember? The school's closed for servicing, and you've the dentist today anyways. He needs to tighten your braces."

"Oh, yeah. I'll have to skip breakfast then, won't I?"

"Im afraid so, but I'll take you to IHOP afterwards, does that seem fair?"

"Yeah, totally! I love IHOP!"

"And there's the girl I kow and love. Now finish sorting yourself out, and we'll leave soon. Oh, and one more thing; promise me that you won't keep stuff from me in future, alright? I mean, I won't get mad, but I can't help you if you don't tell me." I interlocked my pinky finger with his, and promised that I'd tell him in future if there was something bothering me.

-----

The dentists office was surprisingly quiet, and we were seen in no time. Basically, I got my braces tightened a good bit, and I'll be able to get them off before my next birthday, which wasn't half bad.

As we pulled into the IHOP car park, I noticed a sickeningly familiar face exiting the clothing store opposite; it was Amelia. Dad followed my gaze and saw her, and he was instantly disgusted at the fact that she was wearing a pair of hot pants in the middle of October. then he got out of the car, and I did the same.

"Where are you going?" I asked panickedly, as he began making his way towards Amelia.

"To go and sort her out." he said calmly, and I ran up to follow him. I didn't like where this was headed.

Notes

This turned out longer than I'd anticipated, so I'll finish it in the next update :3

I also re-wrote chapter 2+3, and included Austin in it more. I hope you guys enjoy!! You can check them out if you'd like :))

That's so sweet, thank you <3 Ive already restarted writing on a different fic, and I'm writing twenty chapters and see how it goes. If it falls apart, I'll continue this one. If it gets a better review, I'll continue it. Thanks again for the kind words though, they mean much more then you could imagine <3 xx

Noooooo you can't restart. I love this fic just the way it is. ;~; you're an amazing writer. Don't think differently. Everyone has their insecurities. I'm insecure about my writing as well, but you're amazing at writing and 100 times better than any other people whose fics I read.
