Life According To Amber Lynn Haner

How Old Are You, Five?

*Amber's POV*

Avenged Sevenfold are playing a home-town gig on September 20th, and yours truly gets to go. For free. The perks of being a rockstar's daughter are amazing, as this time last year, I'd have to pay to get into some concerts.

For some unknown reason (don't even bother asking what it is), the band have been asked to start practicing and sound checking already, even though there's just under a month before the gig. I though you only did that stuff the week OF the gig, but whatever.

I had cheerleading at 9am till noon today, and as the band were away at the venue, Dad couldn't come and pick me up. Val said she'd be near where I do my cheerleading at around noon, and as she's also heading up to the venue, she's going to bring me there.

-----

At exactly 12:01pm, Val pulled up in her cute little car, and we headed off to the arena, blasting Katy Perry. It's actually been a week or so since we'd last seen each other (the whole Danny-interrogation by everybody didn't go down to well), so we had a bit of catching up to do.

"So how's cheerleading going?" She asked, turning down the radio.

"It's ok, I guess. We've no competitions or games coming up, but I have a volleyball match on September 17th, and practice for that will start up when school resumes. My cheerleading coach is also the volleyball coach, so I get a heads up on whenever we have matches." I replied, taking my (now re-dyed red (thanks to Kim)) hair out of it's ponytail.

"That's a Wednesday, right? I'll make sure we all come, even if I have to drag everybody there, they're all coming."

"Thanks, I'd love it if you all came. It was originally on the 20th, but because of the concert, coach swapped me with one of the other girls, so I'll take her place on the Wednesday, and she'll take mine on the Saturday."

"Yeah, Saturday would've been a crazy rush, so it'll all be easier on the Wednesday." We arrived at the arena just after, and once we gave our details to the security guard, we were given directions to near enough where Zacky parked his jeep, so as that we were close enough to everybody.

-----

The arena was like a sauna, and even in that skimpy cheerleading outfit, I was still a sweaty mess. I drank a full bottle of water and a bottle of Arizona Tea (yup, I paid the price for that move), and I was still warm.

The band played a shed load of songs, and things were going smoothly. Val left after an hour to call up to her parents place, and it was just me left in the seats, texting away on my iPhone, and scrolling through my Instagram feed.

Halfway through Hail To The King, the band stopped playing and Matt stopped singing, and I looked up to see why. There was Zacky sitting on an amp, literally crying with laughter, and I noticed that one of his guitar strings snapped.

"Whats the matter with you?" Johnny asked, clueless as to what's going on.

"The g-string broke!" Zacky cried, still in fits of laughter. That little remark caused me to choke on a mouthful of the second bottle of Arizona Tea that I'd gotten, and I sat there spluttering and choking, while Arin ran down to see if I was ok.

"Jesus Christ, Zacky, grow the fuck up!" Matt sighed, while I continued to choke. Once both Zacky and I had gotten our shit back together, they picked up right where they left off, and continued to play for another hour or so.

-----

Once they'd finished their set, it was three in the afternoon, and we were all starving. We ended up in McDonald's that was near my place, because we just weren't bothered to cook when we got home.

Because of my upcoming volleyball match, coach said we should start getting in shape again, and because she's strict, we're not allowed to have fries and stuff, and to just stick with salads and healthy food like that.

So there I was, while everybody else had burgers and fries, I sat like a little loser with my pathetic salad, and I felt like such a loner.

"I thought you liked the chicken burgers." Arin said, and I sighed.

"I do, but because I have a volleyball match coming up, the coach says I have to get in shape, meaning no burgers or fries or stuff like that." I stated, poking a piece of lettuce with my fork.

"Are you serious? That's pretty fucked up, I mean fries are amazing, like why should you just avoid them if you're doing a sport, that makes no sense. Here, you can have mine, I don't want them anyways." Zacky was pissed off, but he gave me his fries, which was pretty good.

"Thanks." We all pretty much talked about this and that for the remainder of the time, before Zacky dropped us all home.

Notes

I got a new charger for my iPod, and it works now!!! I'm so happy!

Noooooo you can't restart. I love this fic just the way it is. ;~; you're an amazing writer. Don't think differently. Everyone has their insecurities. I'm insecure about my writing as well, but you're amazing at writing and 100 times better than any other people whose fics I read.
