Life According To Amber Lynn Haner

Bowling

*Amber's POV*

The arcade where I was meeting Ash to go bowling is only ten minutes away from my house, so I walked there. But thank god I'd dressed sensibly in my blue ripped skinny jeans (with the ends rolled up to my ankle bones), my black and white Vans, a flowery cropped top and a thigh-length white mid-sleeved knitted cardigan from H&M (legit one of the best things I've ever spent my money on), because the walk was a killer. Honestly.

"Hey!" Ash waved once I arrived outside the arcade, where we were meeting up.

"Hi." I replied, giving him a hug. We've moved up a step in our friendship, so now we're all hugsy with each other. It's really cute.

"Did you like, walk here?"

"Yeah, the car's been at the shop all day, and Johnny said it'd be "good exercise", so I ended up walking."

"You should've called, I could've picked you up."

"It's cool, I'm fine." We headed into the arcade then, and paid for our tickets, and got our lane number.

-----

An hour into the game, I was losing by three points, and I was up next to bowl. We were having a great time, and I noticed Ash looking at me with a weird look in his eyes, and when he caught my eye, we'd both look away, and our faces would go red. What's going on with us?

"I hope you miss it!" He teased, trying to psych me out. I'd taken my shot, and ended up getting a strike.

"Oh yeah? You didn't hope enough, because I've just gotten a strike." I giggled, and he smiled.

"But so did I!" He'd taken his shot at this point, and was now leading by ten points.

"Goddammit, Bailey. You just couldn't let me have my moment of glory, could you?"

"That's how I roll, Haner. You should know that by now." The game finished, and we left out scores up at the main desk before heading over to the food court.

-----

We were sitting in one of the booths just talking and laughing, and occasionally eating. The menu didn't have vegetarian options, so Ash gave me a few of his fries. I didn't eat that many, as I don't eat a lot anyways, and too much food makes me sick.

"Hey Amber, could I ask you something?" Ash asked quietly, and I nodded. "If I were to ever ask you out, what would you say?"

"Id say yes, because I love you." I replied, throwing my hair behind my shoulders.

"You would?"

"Duh!"

"And I also have something to tell you..and I hope you dont hate me for it.."

"I could never hate you!"

"Well..I kinda like you a lot, as in I kinda have a thing for you..Im sorry.."

"Don't be sorry, Ash. That's really sweet of you, and I kinda have a thing for you too.." We were both silent for a few moments, both digesting what had just happened.

We both admitted that we loved each other, but we knew it would never work. Our parents hated each other, and they'd flip if they knew we were together. Our relationship was like a time bomb, it was destined to explode. Things moved too fast between us, but that's young love, right?

"I know it mightn't work out, but would you be my..my.." Ash began quietly, and I nodded.

"Yes, of course I will." I replied, and we grabbed our stuff to leave. We stopped about twenty seconds after leaving the food court, and he kissed me. Yes, he kissed me. Oh my good god I'm going to be so giddy later.

"I love you, I really do, Amber." He said, grabbing my hand.

"I love you too Ash." I said, intertwining my fingers with his.

-----

We were standing near the exit, not saying much and just watching the other people bowling and playing the arcade games, everybody lost in their own little world. I was kinda hoping our parents would arrive to pick us up at different times, as I knew if they met up again, all hell would break loose. I'd glanced over at the exit to see if there was any sign of Dad, when Zacky walked in, and once he'd noticed us, he began making his way over.

"Why so fancy?" I asked once he came over. He was all dressed up, so I was curious as to why.

"Did your dad not tell you? We've got a party to head to, so you're coming with us. You'll be in my car along with Matt, and your dad, Johnny and Arin are following us in Arin's car." He replied, and I looked down at my outfit.

"Am I not too under dressed?" I only dressed causally because I didn't know we had any parties planned this evening. Totally didn't get the memo.

"Nah, you look fine. You ready to go?" I nodded and waved goodbye to Ash, before promising that I'd call him when I got home, the following Zacky out to the car to join Matt.

That's so sweet, thank you <3 Ive already restarted writing on a different fic, and I'm writing twenty chapters and see how it goes. If it falls apart, I'll continue this one. If it gets a better review, I'll continue it. Thanks again for the kind words though, they mean much more then you could imagine <3 xx

Noooooo you can't restart. I love this fic just the way it is. ;~; you're an amazing writer. Don't think differently. Everyone has their insecurities. I'm insecure about my writing as well, but you're amazing at writing and 100 times better than any other people whose fics I read.
