(Love) Contract

Brian’s POV

After my talk with Matt I was pretty certain something was going on. He was acting strange and I had a bad feeling…
I went into my hotel room, everything was dark and I heard the even breathing of Tara, she must have fallen asleep already.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and turned it on to have at least a little light to find my way to the bed.
I looked at Tara, she was under the sheets, lying on her side facing me. I smiled, she must have been exhausted as hell, we all were.
She wasn’t really used to this bus rides and the long trips, tomorrow the real action would start, sound check, taking to the technicians, I hoped she wouldn’t be too bored.
But she would see the first show of us and I was excited of her reaction.

I got rid of my clothes, leaving my boxers on not to scare her since we agreed for now that I would behave.
For now… but the point was I kind of liked the thought that Matt could be pissed about that.
If he really had an eye on Tara, I liked the thought of teasing him, his own fault to sign me on a girl he found attractive, his fault to make me sign anything like that at all…
His fault…
This time he wouldn’t get in the way, this was different.

I lay down on the bed, I leaned over to Tara and kissed her forehead “Good night, girlfriend”
She sighed in her sleep and cuddled the blanket to her chest.
I lay back on my pillow and closed my eyes, we had a lot to do tomorrow, I should get my rest.
I fell asleep and memories of the past hunted my dreams:

“Chelle?” I yelled excited.
“CHELLE?” Where is she again? This wasn’t the first time she was gone without telling me.
“Are you home? Chelle?” I tried again but the house was empty.
Often during the last time, was she trying to avoid me?
Couldn’t be, she was with me forever, maybe her sister called.
I grabbed my phone and called her number. After the fifth ring she finally picked up it was loud in the background and I couldn’t understand her.
“Chelle? It’s Brian. Where are you?”
“Wait a second.” I heard her voice yelling over the background music.
“Now, I hear you.” Michelle replied and I was still wondering where she was.
“Where are you? I am home, I thought we could celebrate, did you hear City of Evil got Gold!” I told her excited.
“REALLY? Brian that’s awesome! I didn’t know… I was just out with Val and the girls…” She replied on a laugh and I heard more voices and I could identify some of my band mates.
“I thought we could celebrate in private, babe. I left the guys to go party alone…” I told her a little disappointed.
“Oh Bri, sorry. You should have sent me a text or something. Don’t bother waiting for me I will sleep at Val and Matt’s alright?”
“Why don’t you come home now? The evening is not over yet, come on babe… I need you, don’t let Syn Gates beg..” I told her with a smirk, normally this was working.
“Sorry, babe. Tomorrow.” She hung up and I didn’t see her that night.

Tara’s POV

Brian was restless this night, I hadn’t heard him coming to our room but I woke up when he was turning from one side to the others.
When he didn’t stop, I crawled over to his side of the bed and when he lay with his face to me, I held his arm up, spooned up before him and put his arm around my waist.
He stilled and didn’t move anymore.
He sighed and I grabbed the blanket and covered us… until the alarm woke us a while later. Brian looked a little confused when he woke up and we were still sleeping in the same position but he didn’t comment it any further.

We ate breakfast with his band mates and crew but I was quiet most of the time, they were talking about the upcoming show and I didn’t want to interrupt their planning’s.
I saw Jason motion me over and when the breakfast was done he pulled me to the side.
“Do you have some time? So we can talk? Maybe when the guys doing sound check?” Jason asked and I frowned a little what did he have to talk to me about.
“Don’t look so skeptical. I’m your longtime friend, look happy when you are around me.” He grinned and winked at me and I shook my head on a laugh.
“Fine, you are right, sure just tell me when you have time. I have no idea what I would be doing during the sound check anyway.” I smiled and Jason nodded.
“Perfect. See you in a bit.” He walked away to his brother and I walked back to Brian.

“Hey, you alright?” Brian asked and pulled me to his side and I nodded.
“I’m good, but how about you?” I asked him and he looked at me with a frown.
“Why would ask that?” We went up to our room, we had about 1 hour before leaving for sound check again.
“Don’t fool me, Brian. Remember we are sharing a room, you didn’t really sleep and you were completely restless… don’t lie to me you already eyed the minibar just after waking up, am I right or am I right?” I asked him and Brian opened the door to our room, not replying.

He closed the door and looked at me still not talking. I walked towards him and felt like he needed the touch, needed the hug right now, so I did what my instincts told me.
“You can tell me Brian… I am your friend. I won’t judge.” I laid my arms around his waist and he hugged me close, his head resting atop of mine.
“Bad dreams… sometimes dreams make sure you won’t forget the past.” He said a little dreamy and I had to pull away and look up to him.
“I know.” I hugged him close and he sighed. “But that’s good, so you won’t make the same mistake twice.”
“What mistakes?” I asked and he smirked. “You had to try, huh?”
“Wouldn’t miss the chance…” I smirked back and he chuckled lightly “I don’t wanna talk about this, alright… Let’s say… I will share my past when you are ready to share yours. I know the ‘Don’t pick up’ thing is not so easy, is it Tara? Something is wrong… you wouldn’t be sleeping on your sister couch for nothing. What did he do? What happened?” Brian asked and this time I was the one backing away.
“That has nothing to do with us or this… don’t… Didn't we have that game before...?!” He shook his head, and then looked at me with a waitig expression.
“See… give and take… you are not willing to give… so am I. You know the game... Even if this had nothing to do with us… and it only concerns you and your past, I want to know. Maybe I can help you?”
“It’s complicated, Brian. Let’s just say I also had some troubled past and my ex was a reason. I was dumb and young…” That was all I was willing to give.
“I was in a long relationship, bought the engagement ring… but never needed it.” Brian said and I looked at him dumbfounded.
“Why? Did you break up? Did she?” I asked curious what happened.
“Give me something Tara…” Brian replied and I narrowed my eyes, damn he was clever.
“Yes, ‘Don’t pick up’ is my ex. He tries to call me since I left him. I saw him fucking one of our so called friends on our couch on the day I wanted to leave him. Wasn’t the first time, though.” I said remembering the day clearly.
He left tons of messages, I didn’t listen to them… couldn’t… didn’t want to hear his voice again.
At first it were just a few calls in a month’s but since the first picture of me and Brian was in the internet or some magazines, he called a few times a day.
“She broke up…” Before Brian could continue his phone rang.
“What’s up?” He picked up and looked at me.
“Alright, we will be down in 5. Thanks man.” He hung up and shrugged. “We need to leave, sound check, you coming along?” Brian asked his mood wasn’t good.
“Yes, you owe me more then she broke up.” I told him but he shook his head.
“Topic done. And Tara this stays between us, are we clear?” He looked at me and I nodded.
“This goes both ways.” I told him and he nodded.
“Only fair.”
