(Love) Contract

Matt’s POV

I went to my room but could here Brian on the floor before our doors talking to Tara.
That had been close, way too close… I was feeling like I really just betrayed my best friend, and somehow I did… even if I knew that she wasn’t his real girlfriend…
FUCK!
This was getting complicated way too fast!
Should I talk to Brian or should I stay away? What could I do? What should I do?
What would it help it if I told Brian I had a thing for his “Girlfriend”, he was already out there with her, had been seen with her and the others knew, too.
It would get us nowhere… Shit!

“Matt? Are you there?” Brian’s voice sounded at my door.
I put my pants back on and pulled the shirt over my head, when the door opened.
“Hey man.” Brian walked in and sat down on the bed.
“Hey. What’s up?” I looked at him and tried to act like… well not caught in the act.
“I just… shit I wanted to apologize.” Brian said and I frowned. Since when would he apologize and why?
“What?” I frowned and he sighed looking up at me “Come on, don’t make this even harder on me. I mean… I’m sorry for yesterday, I don’t remember everything but I guess you helped Tara get me home?” Brian asked and I lifted an eyebrow so he had a blackout.
“Not really… but thanks. You should better say sorry to Tara.”
Brian cursed “Do you know what I said? And how did I get home?”

“Tara just asked me to help her get you from the car to your bed and that’s my part of the deal. She didn’t really tell me what happened, and Brian… talk to her, apologize. I know she was with you the whole night…” I sat down beside Brian and he nodded at me.
“Yeah, I will. Already planned my apology, oh and I saw you made breakfast. Thanks, man.”
I nodded, realizing that had been the reason I went to see Tara in the first place and it had ended so damn good… I finally saw all her tattoos, made love to her and-
“Matt?” Brian looked at me with a frown.
“Huh?” I looked at him and Brian shook his head, “Doesn’t matter, I just wanted to tell you that Tara and I will have our first real date in the outside world, tonight and maybe you could.. you know sleep at your home tonight?”
My head snapped towards him “What? Why?”
“I just told you, because I have to apologize and wanted to make something up to her, so I planned something… and well I think it would be best if you weren’t here then…” Brian got up and stared down at me.
“I can’t do that man… I mean… Look how bad it ended yesterday and I had to help her out, so…”
“I know, it won’t happen tonight, I will be driving and stay sober, I planned everything, so don’t worry alright?”

I didn’t like the thought at all, and on the tip of my tongue already lay the sentence ‘I just slept with Tara’ but before I could really reply the door to my room opened and Tara stood there.
“Brian, are you here?” She looked around, her eyes only staying shortly with me then moved to Brian.
“Yeah, hey Tara, can I talk to you for a second?” Brian took her hand and they moved out of the room.

Shit, what would I do now?
He planned something for Tara and him, an apology? He wanted me to be gone for the evening, which was pretty normal… under normal conditions… but now I knew exactly what he was planning… and it was making the whole situation even worse than before…

Brian’s POV

I took Tara’s hand in mine and brought her to my room, I motioned her to sit down on the bed and she looked confused.
“I’m sorry, alright. I fucked up yesterday and I think I said some things that were pretty bad and apparently a lie. I don’t really remember everything, but I know you took care of me… I want to make it up to you.” When I finished she shook her head at me, her cheeks red.
How did I embarrass her?
“You don’t have to make anything up to me, Brian… I did what I did yesterday because it’s part of the job. We both know that, you pointed it out yesterday pretty clearly. Still I would have never left you hanging there. I like you, and did that because it felt right. I didn’t do it because I want you to make something up to me.” I smiled I knew she would react that way.
“I know… I knew you wouldn’t want to go with me to buy you something so I made another plan. I left pretty early today and asked somebody, who knows you pretty good how I could give you a little joy.”
“You went to my sister?” Tara asked and I chuckled.
“Yeah, and I don’t want to hear a no from you, please let me make this up to you.” I tried again.
“No, Brian.” She got up from the bed and moved towards my door.
“Please, Tara. It would mean a lot to me…” She closed her eyes and I moved towards her, caging her in between me and the door.
“Please Tara, say yes. I promise I didn’t spend much money.” I winked at her and she chuckled.
“Will you give up if I keep on saying no?” She asked and I smirked, “No, I guess then I would have to knock you out and bring you to the place I want to be with you…”
“To bring me to the bed you don’t really have to knock me out…” She said and I know she meant it as joke but it came out differently and she must have realized the double meaning too late and blushed even more.
“I didn’t…” Tara started and I interrupted her “Good to know, but I planned something else first.” I captured her lips with mine and pressed her body against the door, just a small taste.

“So that’s a deal?” I finally pushed myself back and looked into Tara’s confused eyes.
“Fine, deal.” She swallowed thickly.
“Good, here, that’s part of the making it up.” I handed her a box with the clothes her sister had picked out for her.
“What is this about anyway?” She looked into it and smiled.“Oh nooo, she didn’t… She picked it out right?” Tara asked and held the dress out her sister picked out for her.
“Yes, she said you want this for a long time… it’s yours. And you will need it this evening. We will be going out.”
“Oh no, Brian… we shouldn’t be going out. I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Tara shook her head.
“Don’t worry, I planned everything, I will be driving, you don’t have to worry. Please let me surprise you. And you will need that little time out, because in about one hour the rest of my band mates will be here and the action is about to start. Now, let’s go and have a nice breakfast…” I opened the door and took Tara’s hand in mine, I intertwined our fingers and smiled.
I knew this wouldn’t be easy, but I think I convinced her.

We walked to the kitchen and Matt sat on the table waiting for us.
“You okay?” Matt asked not really looking at me or Tara.
“Yeah, we are fine. So we have a deal, right?” I asked Matt and hoped he knew that I was talking about, leaving for the night, so Tara and I had the whole night for us.
“We should be talking about this again, Brian. But not right now…” I rolled my eyes.
“Fine, let’s eat, the guys will be here soon.”
“Can you tell me again the names and the instruments and how do I recognize them?” Tara asked and I nodded.
“Yeah, wait let me get a picture.” I stood up and went to the living room getting one of the picture with all of us when I came back I heard Matt and Tara talking quietly but I couldn’t make out about what.
“Here… try out, if you remember it correctly.” I have her the picture and she looked at me surprised while Matt got up and grabbed the coffee can.
“Okay, this one is Johnny, he is the Bassist.” Tara said and I nodded.
“This is Jimmy? He is the drummer.”
“Right!”
“The last would be Zack and the rhythm guitar.” She said proudly. “Yes, very good girlfriend.” I pecked her lips and smiled, I just hoped everything would be working out.
