“She did what?!” Alice's unusual shrill voice split my eardrums as I informed her on what had happened with Michelle. “Oh, I can't believe that bitch. No wonder she left so early, oh if I had gotten my hands on her skanky ass well I'd-”
“Ali,” I cupped my hand over her mouth, half smiling. “Don't worry, Carter handled it. She was a goddess, I swear. I'd never seen anybody handle Michelle with such grace and ease. It made me so jealous,” I shook my head and removed my hand from Alice's mouth.
She looked at me and smiled. “She didn't say anything, did she? The weird silent fighting?” I nodded in response. “Yeah that's her thing, it's really weird. But it scares the shit out of people. Me included,” Alice explained, picking up some cups and plates from the floor of the living room.
Everyone had cleared out around three AM, and Alice and I were the only ones awake. She had confessed to me what Matt's dumbass had slurred to her a while ago. He was passed out in his bed, snoring like a bear. Honestly, it wasn't a really big deal to me, hearing that Matt said he loved Alice. He was a big lovable puppy down beneath his burly and scary demeanor.
“I mean, good for her though. I've know Carter for a long time, and it's awesome to see her stand up for herself and those she cares for,” Alice mumbled nonchalantly, throwing away more plates and sitting down on the couch.
I looked at her, my throat tightening up slightly. I flexed my jaw so I could speak normally. “Those she cares for? So..like..me?” I asked slowly, leaning against the counter.
Alice looked up, and nodded easily. “Well yeah, isn't it obvious? She adores you, Brian. I haven't seen her like this in ages,” she smiled at me confidently.
“Really?” Jesus, I'm so oblivious. No wonder she was so hurt by what I said...
“I'd be amazed if you guys didn't stay together for a long while,” her soft voice croaked through a yawn, and she meandered her way towards the stairs. “Good night, Brian.”
“Night...” I called softly after her, giving a small sigh. After a few thoughtful minutes, I followed up the stairs to my room where Carter had fallen asleep. I cracked the door open slowly, making sure the usual creak didn't wake her up. Her small figure was curled into the blankets, and I saw her chest rising and falling. I smiled and slipped into the room, closing the door softly behind me. It clicked a little loudly, and Carter stirred, taking in a deep breath and rolling around to her other side before falling still. She was now facing me, and I couldn't help but admire the softness of her slumbering face. And God, she was so goddamn cute. I walked over to the bed and slipped in behind her, causing her to stir again and sit up. “Shh..” I cooed, and caressed her cheek in my hand. “It's just me.”
Carter blinked tiredly at me, looking almost confused. “Oh..” she murmured, rubbing her eyes and yawning. “What time is it?”
“Too early to be awake. Now go back to sleep,” I nuzzled into her neck, and whispered onto her skin. “You've had a long night,” I kissed her jaw and she smiled sleepily.
Carter inhaled deeply and situated herself back into the blankets surrounding her and positioned herself with her head on my chest. “Good night, Brian,” she slurred.
I ran my hand through her hair a couple of times, listening to her breathing deepen and slow down. I lay my hand on the small of her back and took a deep breath, closing my eyes and immediately falling into slumber. Good night, Carter.

Hey guys....Yeah, it's been a good two months since I've even been on this website. I apologize immensely. School has gotten really time-consuming, and every time I do my assignments online, I always see these saved stories and feel terrible.
HOPEFULLY, I'll be able to keep up with these more, and possibly even start another one. Thank you so much for understanding, and again, I apologize. This is also a really short chapter, because I wanted to let you guys know what was going on.
