Runaway

(16 hours later)

*Matt’s POV*

“Places everyone, you’re on in 5.” Larry, our manager peeks through the room then
closes it.

“Well you heard the old man, let’s get going.” Jimmy twirls his drumsticks, making his way out
the door. Brian and Zacky follow him behind. Johnny as usual is nowhere in sight, leaving just
me and Mel alone.

“I’m telling Johnny.” I spoke up, pulling Mel off to the side.

“Tell me what?” Johnny gets out the bathroom.

Mel and I exchange looks. Only Mel’s look was mutual. She didn’t seem as shocked as I was for having Johnny boy overhear us. It’s like she doesn’t matter if he knows. Maybe it’s because she doesn’t love him anymore.

“I have to go to the lady’s room.” Mel quickly makes her way to the restroom.

She ditched me here with Johnny. I was expecting her to hold my hand and tell him, but no.
Instead she left me the hard part. Sure I can understand she must be feeling afraid to tell him, and believe me I’m just as nervous as she is, but it has to be done and get this over with.

I take a deep breath. “Mel and I have been sleeping together since the night you pretended you
didn’t know her.”

Johnny’s face drops. His heart has just been scattered into a million pieces. I can tell he want to beat the shit out of me, telling me to get out of his sight or else I’m a dead man. I think I’ve
broken the poor guy.

“Guys, common, you’re up.” Larry opens the door, interrupting us.

We head onstage and begin the show with Beast and the Harlot. “This shining city built of gold, a far cry from innocence, there's more than meets the eye round here, look to the waters of the
deep. A city of evil.”

My eyes are steady in front of the crowd, trying to keep my mind off of what just happened
backstage. I have to keep my mind off things, I just have too.

“She's a dwelling place for demons. She's a cage for every unclean spirit, Every filthy bird and
makes us drink The poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings. Fallen now is Babylon the
Great.” I finish singing the song.

I can hear the fans scream in thrills of amassment. It’s like they all have adrenaline in their
system. I introduce the fans the next sing we’re going to play and start to sing, Girl I Know. “Let
me tell ya 'bout a girl I know, that comes alive when you take off her clothes, there's no tellin'
just where she's been, ask around but no one seems to know, yeah.”

I take a quick glance at Mel. She was standing behind backstage with a big smile on her face,
facing my direction. I turn to Johnny whose eyes are burning like fire. He seemed like he was
ready to explode.

I just can’t figure out what the hell is Mel thinking at the moment, how she feels. Was it a smart
move to tell Johnny? Honestly I have no idea. I feel guilty broking him though. Especially since
he’s been hurt before. How the hell was I supposed to know that I was going to fall for her. It
just happened.

The real question is Mel. Why does she seem too happy? Heartbreak and breakups is no
amusement, its tragedy. Then again I guess I should’ve seen this coming. I mean she has been
acting weird and I know she’s hiding something. Maybe it has something to do with her twin.

I know she has a twin who hates her guts out, mostly due to envy. Her twin killed Mel’s father
and brother, but kept Mel imprisoned, forcing into selling her body for men under her conditions,
Johnny stole her out of there, and ever since then she’s been in search for Mel to enslave her
once again.

Then I also remembered hearing something about how Johnny had received a threatening
message by Mel’s twin which was why Johnny pretended not to know Mel, for her own safety.
But yet ever since then, Mel’s attitude changed. There was no sign of danger anywhere.

This just doesn’t add up. Unless the only reason why she’s been acting like she has been lately
was because she’s not Mel. What if this has been her twin all along. Dear god I’m an idiot. This
would explain the birth mark. Ha! I knew I remembered never seeing one on her hip. And her
strange behavior including those times she assumed to be going out for walks.

Wait, if this has been Mel’s twin all along then where’s Mel? Where is she hiding her? I turn
backstage to search for Mel but she was gone. Shit! She’s gone. I have to tell Johnny, he has to know what’s going on. I have to look for Mel’s twin and demand where she has her.

I drop the mic and run straight outside to see if I see any sigh of her, but there’s no luck. She’s
nowhere to be seen.

I panic. I get ready to steal a car and look for her but before I had the chance, Johnny barges out. Taking me by surprise, he punches me across the face. “HOW THE FUCK COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!!! Matt grips onto my shirt.

“Johnny, let me talk, please.” I beg.

“FOR WHAT?!! So you can explain in full detail how you two when behind my back?! FUCK
YOU MATT!!!” He punches me again. Though I can easily beat him, I do nothing. Instead I let
him express his anger, beating me until the guys rush out to hold him back.



*Mel’s POV*

“Well my dearest sister. As promised, you are now free to go.” Madame Stewart smirks.

I gave her an unsure look. “Why are you doing this?”

“Don’t you want to be reunited with your precious Johnny? And your dearest, Matt?” She asks.
“If you want to know a little secret, he has a thing for you too.” She smiles.

I know something’s up. She can just change her mind on taking me back, give me special
treatment, and let me go freely, just like that. I know she’s up to something. I just need to see
what it is.

“Well I guess this is goodbye then.” I leave.
