Roadtrip

Brian’s POV
The sun was shining through the curtains of my hotel room and I blinked against the bright light.
I looked down on myself and saw that I had my arms around Izzie’s waist and I smiled to myself.
She was back, not for the reasons that I had been hoping for but she was back and that was all that matters.
I pulled her a little closer, inhaling the scent of her shampoo.
We both must have fallen asleep, we were still in yesterday’s clothes and lay only at the edge of the bed.

I tried to grab the blanket to cover us up when Izzie stirred in her sleep.
I kissed her temple and rocked her slightly to get her back to sleep, not wanting to interrupt her peacefulness, the cold and hard world would get us back soon enough.
The world where Izzie would soon realize and remember that her best friend was still missing, with that thought I grabbed for my phone and looked to see if we had missed any calls, that maybe they had found Mia in the meantime…
She was gone now for almost a day now, Jimmy must be going crazy, I felt so sorry for him.
Gone with a guy we knew had hurt her before and would obviously hurt her again in this sick mind of his…
I don’t really know if we could or should hold Jimmy back when he found the guy, he would want revenge for what he was going through, for what Mia was going through right now.
I involuntarily had pulled Izzie closer as if I was afraid for the same fate, with this sick guy you never know, maybe Mia wouldn’t be enough for him…

“Mia…” I head Izzie whisper and I looked down at her.
Her eyelids fluttered open her eyes locking with mine. “Hey…”
I whispered.
“Hi... Did you hear anything?” Izzie’s replied sleepy. I shook my head. Her small hands were still grabbing my shirt and I when she realized it she let go and flattened her hand on my chest to get the wrinkles out.
I smiled at it and liked the feeling of her hands on me again, moving up and down, I didn’t know if she was realizing what she was doing with me…
She looked up, her hands stilled and I couldn’t help but lean towards her and capture her lips with mine.
Just a soft kiss, a meeting of lips nothing more. I laid my arm around her waist, with my other hand I softly caressed her cheek.
She sighed and I felt the soft and light touch of her tongue on my bottom lip, I would have groaned but suppressed the urge and just slightly opened my lips for her.
She was the one in charge, I would take what she was willing to give, nothing more and nothing less.
Her hand moved to my biceps, her nails softly digging into my skin, her body plastered to mine. I angled my head a little to the side, to give her better access to my mouth.
Our tongues met and I loved the taste of her on my lips again, the feeling of her breasts pressed to me. I wished our clothes were gone, that I could feel her closer, feel all of her…

“BRIAN?” I heard Matt’s voice outside the door, followed by a loud knocking noise and I cringed and Izzie pulled away hastily.
“IZZIE? ARE YOU THERE?” Matt again.
“I.. I AM HERE.” Izzie yelled back and got of the bed without looking at me again.
Damn, Matt and his timing.
I didn’t know what this was and how Izzie was feeling about it, I didn’t even know how I was feeling about it honestly, but how could this be so confusing?

I sat up at the bed and Izzie came inside together with Matt, he was looking from me to Izzie and back.
“Something new from Mia?” Izzie asked Matt concerned.
There was the cold harsh world again, got to us back full force.
“Nothing, I talked to Olly a couple of minutes ago. They got a hint from a sales woman, downtown, she told the police she saw a young woman, fitting to Mia’s description and Josh, she wore sunglasses, but she thought she recognized them, I didn’t tell Jimmy everything, but the woman had a suspicion that the ‘couple had trouble’.”Matt said and I saw him clench his fists.
“How come?” I asked him but already had a solution in mind.
“What do you mean trouble?” Izzie asked seemingly clueless.
“She said, the woman wore sunglasses, but when she helped her dress, she needed to take them off and she saw… something…” Matt beat around the bush.
“Something, what? Damn it, Matt. It’s Mia tell me what’s going on.” Izzie replied and she looked angry, her eyes watering again.
“She saw a blue eye and cheekbone was also bruised, she must have been hit.” Matt groaned out pressing his teeth together.
“Ah fuck, he didn’t… Jimmy will kill him.” I replied standing up and grabbing a sobbing Izzie into my arms.
“FUCK, I will kill him.” Matt replied and looked pissed.
“Since we have a small hint, where they have been now, I sent out Johnny to the shop again, asking the woman if she knew where they went to… and Jimmy and Zack were also getting ready to ask around on the streets.”

A knock on the door sounded and a second later Jimmy and Zack stood in the doorway.
“Sshhh, we will find her now, we have a hint…” I tried to soothe Izzie but she shook her head.
“How could he… how could he do that?” Izzie sobbed.
“Hey Matt, we will be out now, going around the hotels next to ours, to ask if they saw her… I mean.. the shop isn’t too far away from here… maybe…” Zack trailed off and I looked at Jimmy, he looked even worse than yesterday, dark circles underneath his eyes and I don’t think that he had slept at all this night.
“Alright, keep us updated if you hear anything.” Matt announced and Jimmy and Zack left.
“Come on, we get something to eat and then also head out together.” Matt announced and I felt Izzie nod into my chest, I knew that she needed to do something to feel better.

Jimmy’s POV
The past night had been terrible, Matt didn’t allow me to go outside and look for Mia, he told me I needed my rest and that I couldn’t go asking around in the middle of the night anyway. He forced me to lay down on the bed and he took a chair, staying with me the whole night. I really appreciated him being there for me, but I just needed to look for Mia, I needed her back with me. I couldn’t stand the thought of that guy, with his hands on her, who knew what he would do to her.

Brian seemed to take good care of Izzie and I was glad, I couldn’t worry about her too, but I knew Mia would kill me if something happened to her. This was one hell of an adventure we landed in and to be honest, this wasn’t something I had opted for when I applied us for this event.

Zack and I headed out of the hotel, armed with a picture of Mia and decided to just walk and ask for her at every hotel we came across. I stepped into the hotel next to ours and held out my phone with the picture of Mia to the lady at the reception desk
“Excuse me miss, could you please help us? We are looking for this woman, did you see her?”
The lady smiled at me and got a hold of my phone, she looked at it closely “No, I can’t say I have. I’m really sorry” she added when she saw my disappointed face. I turned around and felt Zack’s hand on my back “Come on, we will try again at the next hotel”

The next two hotels gave me the same information, but the pity in their faces only seemed to get worse, I hated how they looked at me, like I was some kind of lunatic, looking for a girl that didn’t even want him.I wanted to yell at them, that she did want me, that she loved me, that I was sure she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me... because I knew that was the truth, even if she didn’t tell me with that much words... I just felt it in my bones.

“Don’t lose faith, man, we will keep looking until we find her. Let me call Matt to see if Johnny got some more information”
We walked into the next hotel and while I was talking to the guy behind the desk, I heard Zack call Matt
“Hey, you guys found out anything?.... No... Nothing... Yeah, we are at the star hotel now... Uhuh”
The man shook his head at me “No sorry”. Damn, nothing again, and listening to Zack, the others had no luck either apparently. I decided to go for the next hotel, and turned around, Zack still on the phone ready to follow me when I saw a couple coming into the hotel. She was wearing a dress and had big sunglasses on and him, he had the face of the man I was dying to find, the man I was sure I was going to kill as soon as I got my hands on him. Time seemed to stop and my hearing was only focussed on Mia, when I heard her whisper my name, my real name, the way only she could say it.
I heard Zack stop his conversation “Matt, she is here” and hung up. I could only stare at Mia and even though I couldn’t see her eyes, I knew she was looking at me. Josh saw us too and laid his arm around Mia’s waist and pulled her against him, kissing her lips.

That was it, how could he touch her like that... “MIA!” I darted down the lobby, taking big steps towards Mia. Everything that happened next, kinda happened in a blur. I saw Mia pushing Josh of her and turning towards me, but she wasn’t fast enough. Josh grabbed her waist en held her, while she was screaming my name “James! James! Please!” Her sunglasses fell off and I saw she was hurt, her eye was black and her cheekbones bruised “Mia!”
Josh held her close to his body and backed to the entrance “Don’t come any closer, she is mine, if I can’t have her, no one can, if I can’t have her, I will hurt her”
I saw Zack move from the corner of my eye, trying to get around Josh and Mia. Josh didn’t even notice the movement, he was fully focussed on me and Mia, who was still fighting to get out of his grip. I tried to sign Mia with my eyes and just prayed she would get what I was trying to make clear to her, she nodded, barely noticeable, but it was all Zack needed to get into action.
Zack grabbed Josh from behind and due to the shock of someone getting a hold of him, he let go of Mia, who fell forward. I stepped forward also, catching her in my arms, she instantly formed her body to mine, and I pulled her as close as possible, while I looked over to Zack, who had Josh in a headlock, not planning to let him go anytime soon.
“MIA! Tell him you belong with me! Tell him he needs to go away! We would consume our love! You came back to me!” Zack put his hand on Josh’ mouth and shut him up.

I looked at Mia and softly touched her cheek, putting a kiss on her bruises. She closed her eyes and leaned in to my touch, before she opened her eyes again. I could barely speak through the lump in my throat “You are hurt, I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you hottie, please forgive me”
She shut me up with a kiss “I love you James, I love you so much”
