Roadtrip

The fixer

Matt’s POV
I saw Izzie drive away and waved at her a final time before I got into my van.
I started the engine and followed her, I never said when I would drive back to the others.
After all I knew now, I was more than sure that we had to come back together. We couldn’t just leave the girls alone... we were already into all this and if Jimmy and Brian would find out that I knew something and that the girls would be in danger they would rip me a new one.
I needed to know in which hotel the girls stayed and I needed to make a reservation for us as well...
Then I need to get the guys and we had to drive back the sooner the better...
The longer the girls were alone the more dangerous it was for them.
If Mia’s ex found her already at the Zoo and found Izzie now again in Denver and even found Jimmy in some bar, he was aware of every of our moves.
And it was just too dangerous for the girls alone...

I would like to have a talk with that stupid motherfucker and teach him a lesson all by myself.
But first on my agenda was to get to know where the girls are staying and then get my boys and reunite the couples or friends... or whatever they called themselves.

I drove after Izzie, always keeping at least one or two cars distance between us so she wouldn’t see me and the van following her.
After a good hour we arrived at the hotel, Izzie parked her car in a free parking space and she looked around as if she was afraid that someone had followed her.
I waited a little longer and Izzie disappeared into the entrance and I walked out of the van, across the street.
Before I walked into the hotel, I waited another 5 minutes so I was sure she wouldn’t be coming down again.
I walked up to the reception. “Hi, can I book four rooms for tomorrow. We are attending the charity race, you might have heard of it. I’m Matt Sanders from Avenged Sevenfold.”
“Hey, yes hello. Sure, we can book you four rooms. Just four?” The woman behind the reception asked.
“Yes, four is enough. Can I ask you for a favour?” I asked her and smiled at her.
Four should be enough, if my plan would work as I planned it... if not... shit, we had to make it work.
“Hmm.. sure.”The woman smiled back.
“If anyone asks, could you please not tell anyone that we are coming, we want to keep it quiet...”
“Oh, of course Mr. Sanders. No problem. So when will you arrive tomorrow?” The woman asked and clicked on her keyboard.
“I don’t really know... maybe in the afternoon, we still have to sleep a little and then drive over here... yeah... I can’t really say a certain time, is that enough?” I asked with a frown.
“Sure, I will just book you the rooms from noon on and whenever you arrive it will be in our system and the rooms as reserved.”
“Perfect, thanks. See you tomorrow.” After everything was organized I smiled and walked out.

My phone buzzed and I looked at the caller. “Hey Brian.”
“Hi, our shift is over in about 2 hours... just wanted to let you know that you better be here then. We are fucking tired.”
“Alright. 2 hours, got it. I will be there.” I hung up and looked at my phone.
I needed to hurry now and still I wouldn’t be on time.

When I arrived 2 and half hour later at the Cocktail Bar, all the guys stood outside waiting for me.
“Don’t tell us you met with some chick and we were waiting here while you had your fun, asshole!” Zack walked past me and climbed into the van.
“I didn’t have fun.. I was working, alright?” Everybody climbed into the van and I breathed deeply in and out.
“I organized us a new hotel and we will drive there tomorrow, after we have slept properly this night.”
“Oh no, you don’t want us to fucking drive again so soon... What is wrong with you?!” Johnny complained.
Only Jimmy and Brian were quiet, looking out of the window, as if they didn’t care what we were doing anymore.
Tomorrow that would change, I swore to myself, when we arrived at the hotel and I knew the girls were still there, I would tell them the truth.
We arrived at our hotel and when we stood in the corridor of our room I turned around.
“It’s not a long drive... it’s just about 2 hours. I reserved us some hotel rooms in advance. We can do a lot of jobs there. But I promise you, after we arrived there tomorrow, no work for us that night... Does that sound good?”
“Fine with me. I’m going to bed now.” Brian walked to his door and vanished.
“Whatever. See you tomorrow.”Jimmy did the same.
“I hate when they are like that... I told him he should have gone with the girl that had been hitting on him, but no... he had to resist... still Mia on his mind, 24/7!” Johnny sighed and waved.
“Alright, see you tomorrow. I think you planned everything through already, so we don’t have a choice anyway, right?”
“Right, good night.”
“You okay Zack?” I turned to Zack who still stood on the floor next to me.
“Yeah, but Matt... We really have to do something for Jimmy and Brian... Johnny is right, they both suck like that and I don’t know how to cheer them up.”
“We will.. let me think of something, alright?” He nodded and I clapped his back.
“Let’s get some sleep.” I opened my door and fell into bed completely exhausted.

Mia’s POV
We were in Des Moines for 24 hours now, and I slept through most of it, I was just too damn tired. I didn’t even notice Izzie getting back last night, but when I woke up in the middle of the night she was already sleeping next to me. Even though I did sleep, it was a restless one. I dreamt about Jimmy and about Josh, and about them together, those were the worst. The last one I had was about Josh and Jimmy being friends... Jimmy was all understanding of the way Josh acted, and proposed they should maybe chain me to the house, making sure they would keep me close. I woke up terrified and was barely able to keep my screams to myself.

My tossing and turning had woken up Izzie too. She looked really tired herself, I guess she was missing Brian more than she would admit.
“Iz, do you want to talk about it?”
She rubbed her eyes and looked at me confused “About what?”
“About Brian?”
“No, not really” she sighed “There is not really something to talk about”
She stretched herself in the bed and turned to her side, watching me
“How are you today?”
I shrugged, I didn’t think this would be getting better anytime soon.
“Don’t change the subject. You look like crap, you can’t tell me everything is fine with you”
“Jeez M, how nice of you to tell me I look like crap” She averted her eyes, avoiding mine
“What is there to say? That I miss him? That I hate the fact we fought and I don’t like all the feelings I have now? It’s probably for the best this is over, because there is a big chance I would have fallen for him, and would have gotten hurt. I will get over it”
She got up out of bed and walked into the bathroom to take a shower.

When she got out, she looked better and she smiled at me
“What time is it?”
I checked my watch “Almost two”
“Okay, we should get something to eat then and get to the reception, the babysitting job starts at 3. Those people have two little kids, they wanted to do some shopping and then have an early dinner without their kids, so we will probably be busy until 9 or 10”

After we ate, we went downstairs and reported for duty.
“Alright girls, you should go to room 202, the Clarkson family” the girl behind the front desk smiled at us “Very nice family, the kids are okay too, shouldn’t be too hard of a job”
“Alright. We will report back later”

We went back up to the second floor, knocking on the door for room 202. A woman in her forties opened the door while she was still putting in her earrings
“Come in, come in” She looked us up and down “So glad you aren’t two of those heavy tattooed, pierced girls, in our previous hotel.....” she started ranting on about the previous babysitting service she used and how she thought it was ridiculous for a hotel to hire such people and on and on.
I don’t know what the girl meant by “very nice” but this one was really too stuck up to be nice.

After they introduced the kids, Samuel, 5, and Elanor, 3, were introduced, Mr. And Mrs Clarkson were ready to go.
“Dinner will be brought by roomservice at 5.30, then the kids will have to be in bed by 7. We will be back around 9.30, 10 at the latest. We won’t take our keycard with us, just in case you need it here.” She turned towards the kids “You two be good”.

The kids weren’t the problem, they were nice, we played a few games, we fed them the dinner and they went to bed easily.

Izzie came back from the bedroom “I checked on them and they are sound asleep. I can’t believe how nice they are with such parents” I laughed “Wow, that woman was just too... how can is say this friendly”
“She was just one stuck up bitch!” Izzie said loudly, laughing. She suddenly stopped when we heard a knock on the door. “Shit!” Izzie whispered “You think they heard us?”
“Probably not” I replied, walking for the door.
“Mr. And Mrs. Clarkson, you are early, I thought-” My heart stopped together with the words coming out of my mind... Was my mind playing tricks on me?

Jimmy’s POV
I couldn’t help it, I ran towards the reception, Brian shortly behind me. Matt couldn’t tell us which room they were staying in but I would find out, we would find...and even if we had to knock on every single door of this goddamned hotel.
“Hey. We have a question.” I started but Brian shoved me out of the way with his famous smirk on his face. But I knew the difference, this was just meant to get him what he wanted.
Not the one he was wearing when he really was smiling. He wore it when he was with Izzie and it was meant for her alone.

“Hey beauty, we are searching for our friends. Izzie and Mia, one blonde, one brunette. Must have checked in yesterday... Could you tell us in which room they are staying in, they are waiting for us but forgot to tell us which room number.”
“Oh.. Normally I am not allowed to...” The young woman behind the counter started but Brian leaned a little forward and whispered something in her ear.
“Oh really, he wants to...? Alright... I will make an exception... Wait a second. Checked in yesterday, they just booked one room. It would be room number 225, second floor. Good luck.” The woman winked at me and I frowned.
That was easier than I thought, but what did Brian tell her?!
We walked to the elevator and I looked at Brian, “What did you say?”
“Nothing, important... just that you want to surprise your girlfriend with a proposal, that’s why we need to find the room...” Brian shrugged his shoulders and I groaned.
“Damn Brian... that was a fantastic idea! Why didn’t I come up with it?” I said with a smirk.
“Yeah, because I am the clever one.” Brian replied and we both laughed, the tension from the last days slowly falling off our shoulders, being completely gone, when we would finally have Izzie and Mia again.
