Beautiful Dangerous

Two

Zack stared at the body for a few moments longer, in complete shock. His master’s chest was moving up and down ever so slightly, he was breathing still - thankfully not dead. But there was blood covering the left side of his head and the floor beneath it, oozing slowly out of a cut at the top which stained his hair with the deep red liquid.

Zack began to shake, fear taking over his entire body, what would have caused this? he thought Why is he unconscious? How-

His train of thought was interrupted by a loud ‘ahem’. He looked up to where it had come from, standing by the window was a very tall, very thin man dressed VERY similar to the man who plagued his dreams every night. It was a pirate. Zack gasped, eyes filled with terror as he turned on his heal, as he planned to bolt out of the room and get help.

“PIRATE!” he shouted at the top of his lungs, “PIRA-”

Being faster and stronger than the young servant, the pirate darted after him, knocking him to the ground and pinning him there, one hand over his mouth, the other wrapped around his throat. “You,” he spat at him, “are going to quietly come with me.”

Zack’s eyes widened even further as he sunk his teeth into the stranger’s hand, causing him to swear and draw his hand back sharply.

“No!” Zack exclaimed, struggling underneath the man, “I’m not going anywhere!”

“You don’t have a choice,” he smiled, climbing off the boy and grabbing his hair, dragging him off the ground towards Benjamin, “come along now.”

Tears began to stream down Zack’s face as he was dragged out of the home he’d lived in all his life, where his friends were. Oh god what if people are kidnapping them too? he bit his lip as he looked up at the evil man who was carrying his master out too, over his shoulder.

A soft whimper escaped his lips as he was thrown to the ground outside to be greeted with a new set of hands that dragged him across the ground and to the port which was around thirty feet from the house. But instead of it being empty as it usually was this early in the morning, there was a very large ship with men dragging people out of their homes, beating and killing them before returning to steal their possessions.

Zack squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting to see any more of it, and his eyes stayed shut until he felt himself being thrown down a hole. oh my god what if they’re throwing me into the water? he thought quickly, but his thoughts were soon proven wrong as his body slammed against a wet, wooden floor and pain shot through him as he made impact.

“Zacky!” he heard Benjamin exclaim as arms were wrapped around him and pull him into a sitting position. At least he wasn’t dead or unconscious…

“Zack!?” he heard a new voice gasp.

“That’s me,” he choked out, eyes opening just a little, only to be greeted with the face of someone he had certainly not seen in a very long time. “C-Corey?”

Corey was Zack’s uncle that had disappeared along with his parents ten years ago. Zack rarely thought of his parents, he never knew them properly because they lived off somewhere else, no where near the Maddens’ mansion. Corey however had been the main cook for the twins and their father, he was incredibly close to his nephew - as if he were his own son.

One morning he’d come into the room Zack had been tidying and informed him that his parents were missing, they both wept together for hours. But later that night, Corey had gone missing too.

Ten years had gone by. Ten long years without his uncle by his side to keep him safe and make him laugh.

“Zack,” Corey repeated softly and took him off Benjamin, squeezing the life out of him.

Zack looked at Corey, dressed in a thin red shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and dark brown trousers. On his forearm he saw a small tattoo of the skull and cross bones. The mark of the pirate. He looked at it wide-eyed and then up into Corey’s eyes.

“H-how could you?!” he coughed, anger taking over his entire body, “you- No!”

Corey stared down sympathetically at his nephew, the apology he couldn’t get out of his throat filling his face. Tears began to form in Zack’s eyes, threatening to spill over as he looked back up at his traitorous uncle, the one that had left him with no goodbye. The one he’d gone a decade believing to be dead.

“I’m sorry,” he choked out, moving the raven locks from Zack’s eyes.

------

“PIRATES! HOIST THE SAILS!” Oliver screamed demands at his crew, “PULL UP THE ANCHOR! SAIL WEST! GET AWAY FROM THE ONCOMING SHIP!”

The crew looked up at him confused, normally their captain wasn’t afraid of pirates, having one of the largest, strongest crews he’d ever laid eyes upon. He’d be eager to take them on and take their loot, killing off another potential threat that sailed the oceans with them.

“QUICKLY YOU BASTARDS!” he snarled at them, “SYNYSTER GATES!!!”

Understanding fell upon them and they quickly began to obey the orders. All began to look well as they sailed away from the threat until the wind started to die down, which also slowed the ship down greatly, to much disadvantage of the Englishmen.

Regardless of the lack of wind, the ship sailing towards them ceased to slow down and soon began to catch up to them. Fear could be read over Oliver and Joshua’s expressions as they watched the ship in horror.
-
Cannon fire, metal clanking and slicing together, screams of those dying.

The sight in front of Synyster, on the ship beside his, was what some would call horrible, vile and horrendous. However he found great joy in it, as he watched from where he stood on his own ship. Not that he was cowardly, he would have loved to join in in the battle before him! But he’d heard tales of Oliver Sykes, not many had the guts to take him on, his crew a worthy opponent of his own. Therefore, someone needed to stay aboard his ship to make sure that no one snuck onto it and stole it and all its treasure.

However, when the fighting and murder began to die down, when his crew ran out of victims, he climbed across onto the ship to admire the scene in front of him. Ronnie, his second in command, and Matthew were climbing up the stairs with a large wooden box in their arms, filled with valuables. They nodded, “captain,” as they walked past and boarded their own ship again.

“Now…where is Oliver….” Syn mumbled to himself and walked cautiously, avoiding corpses to the Captains’ Quarters. He turned the door knob but the door refused to move, so he slammed his shoulder against it in attempt to break it down but it still didn’t move. He took quite a few steps back, running towards it again, gaining momentum before kicking the door down and entering the room. He looked around it before his eyes came to rest upon two bodies curled up in a corner, shaking.

“Now now,” Syn smirked, “that’s not very piratey behaviour, is it, Oliver?”

One of the men looked up at him, anger flashing across his face before returning to its original fear. He shook his head and squeezed the shoulder of the man beside him. The man looked up at Oliver, “I don’t want to die,” he said quietly enough so only Oliver could hear him and bit his lip.

“I know, Josh.” Oliver sighed and stood up, reaching for his sword and taking a step towards Syn, who was just staring at him in amusement.

“Don’t be silly,” Syn smirked again and reached for a pot that had been sitting on the desk beside the door, hurling it towards Oliver and hitting him square in the face. He slumped to the ground beside Joshua, blood covering his face. Syn looked at him, “now if you don’t want that to happen to you, I suggest you come quietly,” he turned and headed for the door, before stopping “and bring Oliver with you.”
