All Nightmare Long (Revamped Edition)

Hottest Day Of The Year

Brian
“So,” I grunted, dropping myself into the recliner in the corner of Matt’s living room while popping the cap off my beer with my thumb “What’s the plan for today?” I asked.

“Beach,” Jimmy answered, bouncing around in his seat a little “It’s the hottest day of the year so far and you know what that means,” He added a little sing-song tone at the end there.

“Half naked chicks!” Johnny cheered from his place on the floor, fist pounding the air.

“Get up, Johnny,” Matt chuckled, walking back into the room and tossing a towel down to Johnny
“You’ve got more of a chance of being stepped on all the way down there,”

Johnny just growled at him a little before pushing himself off of the floor while Matt tossed the rest of us a towel.

Our whole lives, we’ve spent on the beach. When we were kids we always used to ride our bikes down there and play all day, then when we were a bit older we started going down to the water just to get hammered before stumbling back home in the early hours of the morning, now we like to go and scope out the talent tanning on the beach, now that we’re getting to the age where we should really be finding ourselves a nice girl, taking her home to meet the family, popping the question and spending the rest of eternity together, but these days it seems that it isn’t as easy as it was for our fathers.

Matt and I grabbed the coolers and carried them effortlessly to the back of his truck and put them in before climbing in up front while the rest of the guys climbed into the back. While Matt drove, we were all talking and getting loud like we normally do, but Zack shushed us all when we drove through a familiar part of town where we had spent plenty of time before.

“Someone bought the house,” Zack said, his hand still on my shoulder.

“Who was so desperate that they bought that?” I whispered.

Matt slowed down, almost to a complete stop, so that we could all look out of the window at the
old house.

There was a green and white camper van sat on one side of the drive, an empty trailer still looked up to the back of it and another beautiful car parked next to it. Two girls were bustling around the drive, pulling boxes out of both vehicles and loading them into each other’s arms and moving them into the house before quickly returning back outside.

They looked similar enough to be sisters, both of them were beautiful and thanks to the weather they were both scantily clad and sweaty. One seemed to be slightly taller, she wore her hair in a ponytail in an obvious attempt to keep her neck cool, her hair was pink at the ends and she had a fairly good tan. The other girl had a full head of pastel green hair which was tied in a knot on the top of her head with a few strands falling from it and sticking to her forehead and neck with sweat from working under the sun, but she was pale, but her skin tone looked amazing in contrast with the sun.

All five of us were too busy staring at them, that when the girl with all of the green hair dropped one of the boxes and some delicate items of clothing tumbled out of the box and into the driveway, causing her to bend over to pick them up, but she had her back to us and when she bent over, her shorts rode up and flashed some cheek, Matt slammed on the breaks out of shock.

We all started yelling things at him and at each other, so we were no longer paying attention to the two girls packing things back into the fallen box, but they certainly noticed us.

“Everything alright over there?!” One of them called out, getting our attention back.

When we looked back over, they were both standing at the edge of the driveway, their matching aviator sunglasses were now pushed into their hair and they were watching us carefully.

“Sorry!” Matt apologized out of the window before pulling the car over and stopping “We were just a little surprised that this house had finally been sold after so long,”

Zack opened the back door of the truck and climbed out, quickly followed by Jimmy and Johnny stumbling over one another. I slid out of the front at the same time as Matt.

“I’m Erin,” The girl spoke again, a smile on her face “And this is my sister, Hannah.” She reached down and linked her pinkie finger with her sisters.

I looked at Hannah and noticed that she was blushing, or was that just because of the heat? I couldn’t tell, but she was absolutely gorgeous. Her eyes were so blue that they were almost too bright to look into, her lips were pale like her skin, but still pink and perfectly plump, and they looked so kissable. She had a band tattoo on her upper arm, one on her lower arm and another on her thigh. I couldn’t help but admire her ink.

“Nice to meet you,” Zack beamed at Erin, reaching his hand out to shake hers, but when she slipped her hand into his, he brought it to his lips and kissed it.

“Charming,” She chuckled, taking her hand back and dropping it by her side. I’ve got to say, she’s the first woman Zack has tried that on who seemed completely unfazed by his actions
“Did you guys need some help?” She asked.

“Yeah,” Hannah smirked “You seemed to be having some trouble with your breaks there,”

“Oh, no,” Matt laughed “a cat ran out in front of the car and I had to stop so I wouldn’t squash the little guy,” He lied so smoothly, and we all expected the girls to ‘aww’ over his caring for the cat, but they just nodded along.

“Well,” Erin spoke “We’ve got a lot of boxes to move so we’d better get a move on,”

“You want some help?” I asked without even thinking, my eyes had still never left Hannah, and I think she noticed because she shifted somewhat uncomfortably under my gaze.

“Really?” Hannah asked innocently “You guys look like you’ve all got somewhere to be,”

“We were just headed down to the beach but we’d be happy to help you ladies move your boxes,” Zack spoke for me while I mentally scolded myself for being so stupid “It would take less than half the time with all of us and then maybe we could even convince you two to have some drinks with us in the sand,”

“The help would be great,” Hannah spoke, cutting off her sister before she could say anything, so Erin just closed her mouth “We’ll think about the drinks,”

While the guys helped us move boxes from the vehicles into the house, they introduced themselves; The tall, lanky dude was Jimmy, and the really short one with the black and blonde hair was Johnny, Zack was the one with the crazy green eyes that followed Erin wherever she went, the tall, buff guy who had been driving the truck was Matt, and the extremely handsome one was Brian.

He was my definition of perfect, and everything I found dreamy in a guy. His brown eyes were like melted chocolate that I could drown myself in, his cheekbones had been chiselled to perfection and his hair was perfectly messy. His arms were the perfect size and covered in tattoos that I wanted to spend the early hours of the mornings tracing with my finger-tips until I could draw them with my eyes closed.

Everything he did made me look at him, and I don’t know how many things I dropped and almost broke while I was too busy watching him move things around for us. But sometimes, when I would look over at him, I’d catch him already looking at me, but he wouldn’t look away embarrassed, he would just continue to stare, but his stare was almost completely blank but with a hint of a smirk in there. I would be the first to look away, blushing like crazy. I could never tell what he was thinking, but I had a horrible feeling that he didn’t like me at all.

I was thankful that we had finally unloaded everything and all of the boxes were in the house and in the rooms that they would be unpacked into, finally, I would be able to breathe in our new house without thinking about the sexy, mysterious man wandering around. But no, it couldn’t be that simple. Zack was too taken with my sister that he just had to offer to help us unpack all of our things, and they all stuck around and helped.

I was unpacking alone in my bedroom at the end of the hall on the second floor of the house, listening to all of the commotion going on back downstairs, it sounded like everyone was having fun but I was enjoying my privacy in my own room, and I knew that I was likely to spend most of my time in here.

“Hannah?” Someone asked from outside my bedroom door before knocking softly.

“Yeah?” I called out.

“It’s…” They cleared their throat “It’s Brian, can I come in?” He asked.

“S-sure,” I stuttered, pushing myself off of the floor as he slowly opened the door “What’s up?” I asked, turning to face him with a smile on my face.

“Well since it’s dark out now, we’re not going to go to the beach, but we usually hang out at this bar a few minutes away from here, and Erin’s totally up for coming and she sent me up here to ask you if you wanted to come,”

“Alright,” I shrugged “I guess I have to celebrate sometime, she’ll just nag at me if I don’t,” I chuckled.

“Celebrate moving, you mean?”

“Oh no,” I chuckled “It’s my birthday today,”

“Ah,” He smiled “Well, happy birthday,”

“Thanks,”

We finally got to Johnny’s Bar and Matt had gone up to get the first round of drinks while we all grabbed a booth and a couple of more chairs so that everyone had somewhere to sit. Erin rushed off to the bathroom and left Hannah at the table, she quickly picked up conversation with Jimmy.

“Oh my God!” Erin squealed as she reached the table again, she had a flyer in her hand.

“What?” Hannah asked, panicked a little, but she calmed when she noticed the smile on Erin’s face.

Erin thrust the flyer toward her sister and Hannah took it between her fingers and her eyes skimmed over it. I knew the flyer, it was for the open mic that Johnny puts on every Saturday night, that was tomorrow.

“No,” Hannah said simply, dropping the flyer onto the table.

“Come on,” Erin whined “Everyone back home loved your voice, and this will be your chance for everyone to find out who you are around here,”

“Back home there wasn’t this many people,” Hannah hissed “Look how busy this place is already, and it isn’t even that late-“

“I’ll do your laundry for a month!” Erin cut Hannah off. Hannah paused and thought about it for a few moments, all of us were watching her with suspense. I wanted to know why this was such a big deal, so I wanted her to say she would do it.

“Alright, fine.” She sighed and Erin cheered loudly, dancing around “But only because you know how much I hate doing laundry,”

“Dude!” Jimmy exclaimed to Matt “She’s drinking you under the table!”
Matt choked down his last shot a whole three seconds after Hannah swallowed her tiny glass of clear liquid with ease.

“I may look small, but I can handle my alcohol,” I giggled, a hiccup interrupting me before I giggled again “Well I can get to a point, and then it gets a bit too much,”

I’d gotten into drinking a whole three years before I should have, Erin and her friends back home had gotten me into it and I soon realised how much I liked it, but I also had to have quite a considerable amount before I started to feel its effects.

“I’m gonna go for a smoke,” Brian announced as he pushed himself up from the table.

“I’ll come with,” I slurred a little “I need some air,”

I followed him outside and around the corner into the little alley way. He quickly lit up and leaned against the wall of the pub while I leaned against the wall across from him, against whatever was beside the bar.

“So,” He smirked “How are you liking your first night in Huntington?” He asked.

“I like the booze and the boys,” I admitted with a giggle, covering my mouth as soon as the words left my mouth “Sorry, I get a little too honest when I’ve reached my limit of alcohol,”

“Really?” He asked, a mischievous look in his eye “So I could ask you anything and you would answer me honestly,” I nodded “What made you want to move out here?”

“A lot of shit went down in my home town and a new start seemed like something we needed,” I spoke, again, before I could stop myself.

“When you said you liked the boys,” He started again “Did you mean Matt?”

“No, I meant you,” I slapped both hands over my mouth this time and screamed into them while squeezing my eyes closed “Stop with the questions,” I begged “I don’t want to further embarrass myself, I’d like to spare myself the feeling of awkwardness if I ever see you again,”

“Oh you’ll see me again,” He promised “I’m everywhere,”

Notes

Hi guys!

I'm so happy to be posting this chapter, since elovebakervengeance and I are bringing back our first ever story together! We decided that since we've been writing other stories after this one, and we have seen our writing skills getting better and better over the time we've spent writing together, that we should revamp this story and make it bigger, better and 100 times more dramatic than it was before!!

I do apologize for the kind of slow start, but things will pick up a bit within a few chapters and we'll get more into everyone's background soon enough, this chapter was much longer before I posted it but I decided that it wasn't EXACTLY what I wanted and I was rambling, just like I am now, so I'ma go! :)

E will have something amazing for you all soon if she can work from this! (:

Leave us comments and let us know if you're all liking the re-write!

I wonder if her mom's going to end up telling her and Erin what they truly are? And, I wonder what Matt's reaction will be when he 'finds' out?

Love it
