The Bakers...

Andrea Baker
The first person I called was Nicole. The second I told her that Matt was here and that we were all going to be swimming-as I lied and said Matt was too, she said she’d be here in a few and hung up.

“Okay then,” I mumbled as I hung up too.

“What’s going on?” Emily asked from beside me.

“Nothing, it’s just that Nicole’s coming over to rape your brother is all.” I laughed, receiving a weird look.

“That’s just gross,” She mumbled. “Don’t forget that Bethany has a crush on-” She stopped mid-sentence. “Never mind,” She mumbled.

I sat up quickly. “Who, who does she have a crush on?” I asked, shaking her back and forth in excitement to finally hear who Bethany has had a crush on for all of these years. I always knew she liked one of Matt and Zack’s friends, I just never knew who exactly.

She grabbed my arms to stop the shaking. “Whoa, chill out woman. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you. Bethany made me promise not to tell.”

I pouted my lips and gave her my puppy dog eyes. “Come on, Em. You know you can tell me. I swear I won't tell anyone.”

She shook her head as I dropped my arms and put my hands together and I begged. “I'm sorry, but I can't. I promised.”

I glared. “Fine, don’t tell me, but I will find out sooner or later. I'll just tell Bethany that you told me and get her to admit it herself without her even knowing I actually don’t know.” I said standing and crossed my arms, giving her that look that told her I was completely serious.

She quickly stood. “You wouldn’t…”

I smirked. “Try me,” I knew I was going to get my way, especially because Emily was always such a push over.

“No, please!” She pleaded, grabbing my arm and was shaking me. “She’ll be so mad at me that I even mentioned it!”

I gave her a look of contempt. “Oh quit begging. I won't tell her you mentioned it, I'll just ask her myself. I always knew she had to like one of the guys. She’ll never know you even talked about it.”

She sighed in relief. “Thank you.”

I laughed. “Maybe you should be the one to chill out.”

She glared and sat back down on the couch. “Alright, just call the others.”

I picked my phone back up and called Rebecca. It rang for a minute, and I impatiently waited, crossing my arms.

“Hello?” She asked, sounding out of breath.

“Hey Becca, it’s me. Emily and I need you to come over. It’s really important.” I lied, hoping it would make her come even faster.

“Why, what’s going on?” She asked, sounding worried.

“We have something to tell you. It’s about Nicole. She doesn’t know it, but we’re throwing her an intervention about her drug problems.” I said, trying so hard not to laugh.

Emily’s eyes grew wide and her mouth dropped open. “What?” Rebecca shouted. “Drug problems? What drug problems? I didn’t even know she did that kind of stuff!” She shouted, talking fast as she slurred her words.

I faked a sigh. “Yeah, and she’s an alcoholic too. It’s sad, really. So you better get over here real quick. She’s already on her way here, actually.”

I could imagine her freaking out. “Okay, I'm on my way.”

“Alright, and hey,” I said, almost forgetting. “Bring your bathing suit.”

“Okay, wait…what?” She asked, confused.

I silently laughed. “Yeah, after the intervention we’re all going swimming. Well, I'll see you when you get here, bye!” I hung up before she could respond. I started to laugh out loud, not able to hold it in any longer.

Emily looked at me in disbelief and smiled. “You are so mean. Do you know that?”

I smiled evilly. “Yup!” I said, popping the P. “Now how much longer until the delivery boy gets here?” I asked.

As soon as I finished my sentence the doorbell rang. “’Bout damn time.” I mumbled, going over to the door and opening it. I was expecting it to be a guy with really bad acne holding our pizzas but instead it was only short, little Nicole, standing there with a towel and her bathing suit in her hands.

She smiled at me and came inside. “Oh, it’s only you.” I sighed, closing the door behind me.

She frowned at my reaction. “Yeah, it’s only…me.” She questioned. “What’s wrong?”

Emily stood from the couch and greeted her with a hug. “Oh it’s nothing. She’s just upset that you’re not the pizza we order a couple of minutes ago.” She told Nicole, then turned to me. “Did you really expect it all to be here when you just called?”

I smirked. “A girl can only hope.”

Nicole laughed and turned towards Emily. “Where’s Matt?” She asked, looking around.

Emily gave me a look, knowing that would be the first thing she’d ask. “He’s outside waiting for us.” I lied.

Nicole nodded. “Okay. Let’s go upstairs. I need to change to go swimming.”

Emily nodded. “Okay, let's go.”

We all headed up stairs. Emily and I both went into her room while Nicole went for the bathroom to go change.

Zack Baker
I quickly dialed in Brian’s cell phone number, waiting for him to answer after a couple of rings. I wouldn’t be surprised if he fell asleep after coming home from school today.

Finally, he picked up on what was probably the last ring. “Hello, Matt?” He asked. He must have checked the caller i.d.

“No it’s me, Zack. I'm calling from Matt’s to ask you if you and the rest of the guys wanted to hang out at his house until tomorrow night.”

He seemed to be thinking for a minute. “Yeah, sure. Why not?”

“Okay, cool. Call the others if they want to. They’ll probably need a ride, knowing them.” I mentioned.

“Okay, we’ll be there soon, I guess.”

“You might as well finish packing and bring it all over tonight, that way we don’t have to make a second trip to get your stuff.” I wanted to make the trip there as soon as possible so we would have more time while being there.

“Alright, see you soon.” We both said goodbye and hung up.

“He said he and the guys will be here soon.” I told Matt, handing him the phone back.

He nodded and set it back on the nightstand. “Did you bring your bags?” He asked me.

“Fuck, no. I couldn’t with Andrea in the car with me. I'll have to go back tonight and get it all.” I said, silently cursing her for ‘having’ to come over with me.

“Did you think of bringing food along?” He asked me, raising an eyebrow and smiling like he knew I didn’t, but luckily, I did think of it.

I nodded. “Yeah, I brought some crackers, cheez-its, a couple of granola bars and a box of rice crispy treats. I also packed a few water bottles just in case anyone got tired of drinking beer.” I smiled, knowing that wouldn’t happen with any of us.

He laughed. “That or we just run out.”

I laughed, too. “Yeah, true. So, are we bringing the girls or what?”

He grimaced and shrugged. “I don’t know. I guess it’s up to the rest of the guys. You know where I stand, and where Jimmy stands.”

I sighed and put my head in my hands, bored out of my mind, just wanting tomorrow to come already. “We’ll just ask them when they get here.”

“Okay, well hey, do you want to go wait for them out in the backyard? We can go swimming. You can borrow a pair of my swim shorts if you want.” He suggested.

I nodded. “Sure, sounds cool.”
